Premiere Elements reports low disk space error right at the end

Ok, so I wait for 5 hours for a 3 hour long video to get saved to my computer.  It goes to 99% and then I get a low disk space error.  After I clear up space, and click Ok, it starts all over again.  Firstly, why doesn't PrE calculate/predict how much disk space I would need BEFORE starting to save, and secondly why does it at least not resume the saving process after I clear up disk space, instead it starts all over, with my 5 hours wasted?
Some serisous usability issues.  Is it just me or do these things drive others crazy too?
Expected more from Adobe...

Unfortunately, as PrE uses a 2-Pass Encoding scheme (helpful to get the best quality within the same file size), it does not know exactly how much space will be used, until well into the second pass - the first is a survey of any motion in the Clips on the Timeline, and the second is the actual Encoding, and writing of a file.
Another consideration, regarding disk usage is whether one is Exporting/Sharing both Audio & Video. If one IS doing a Multiplexed file (with both an Audio and a Video Stream in one file), a Video-only file is written first, and then an Audio-only file, with a few "helper files" to be used in just a moment. Then, when that has completed, PrE reads those helper files, and creates the final, Multiplexed file. Last, the two separate Audio-only and Video-only files are Deleted. That takes some space, as at some point, one will have three large files, though two will be Deleted, along with the little helper files.
How much defragmented, free-space do you have?
What is your I/O setup, i.e. the number of physical HDD's, and how they are allocated?
Good luck,
Hunt

    Attempted solutions:
-I created a new User Account and I can download large files with no issues.
-I ran "Repair Disk Permissions" but still get warnings.
    Google Drive Warning:
    Spotify Warning:
But on my other user account I can use spotify and download large files, etc.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • LMS 3.2 server - low disk space error.. Upm.db increasing rapidly......please help

we r facing problem of low disk space error......upm.db file incresing 1 to 2 gb per week.
if this continues our disk will get full & system may get crashed...... pls help

Probably most space is being consumed by CSCOpx\log.  To quickly cleanup some logs, you can manuall run the command:
    logrot_trunc c:\Progra~1\CSCOpx\log\syslog.log
Assuming this is the correct path on your server.  You can also schedule log rotation to occur on a regular basis to avoid the logs growing past a certain point.  This can be scheduled under Common Services > Server > Admin > Log Rotation.
Might also be a good idea to check if you have debugging turned on under the various modules in LMS to decrease the speed of the log growth by setting the logging to a lower level.

  • Demuxing error right at the end of the iDVD process - iMovie file bad?

    Hello!
I am getting a demuxing error right at the end of the iDVD process. I am posting here because one comment I received is that the issue could be the iMovie file?
    I am using:
    QT 7.6.2
    iMovie 6.0.3
    iDVD 7.0.4
    OSX 10.5.7
    Are these compatible?
All my "apps" are on a 10K main drive, the files on another 7.5k - have been using this for two months with no problems.
It is a big project pulling a number of clips from 4 imported VHS (I have been doing this successfully for years). I do a lot of "split clip of video head" to distinguish the clips.
The first project using about 25% of content worked fine creating a VIDEO_TS file (I always use pro quality setting). The second project trying to use another ~25% gave the aforementioned errors. One symptom is went I begin to create DVD process, the Time Remaining is 5+ hours, which is higher than normal. After about 20mins processing it drops down to the usual 2hr or so.
I create the iDVD project first, then import video.
To resolve: I am making sure I dont have index points close to anything etc., reinstalled both apps, fix this and that, removed pref file, themes, ALL the fixes I could find on all the discussions.
I even exported all the project clips as one .dv file, didnt split at video head, just put index points, and entered into new iMovie project, and started over. No good.
How can I tell if the iMovie file is bad?
    Help - thoughts?

It might be that you have mixed audio formats in your movie, one or more of which is incompatible with iMovie/iDVD.
Make a copy of your movie and try using the free download Streamclip to demux to aiff. Drag the copy of your movie into the Streamclip window and then File > Demux to Aiff.
Don't know if that will work, but it is worth a try.

That normally occurs because someone has turned on system protection for the partition. I can't see your image just yet.
Check to make sure that has not happened.
The following image is how the system protection  window should look
The following image is what you should see in your recovery partition if you have file options to show protected files. Anyhting else should not be there.

  • Low Disk Space Error on Install

So I've been struggling on this all morning. I can't install
flash player on my hard drive because it says I have a low disk
space. I read on some forums that it's because the flash player
software is hardcoded to check the 'C:\' for sufficient space. My
hard drive is the 'H:'. My 'C:' drive is allocated as an usb but
whenever I plug in a flash drive it defaults to 'K:'. I have tried
to tinker around in disk management but I cannot rename or change
my 'H' drive to be the 'C:'. I can not also rename the 'K:' to be
the 'C:' either. This seems like such a simple problem, I'm a
little disappointed that the software is written so that it checks
the 'C' drive opposed to the drive the .exe file is running off of.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Low disk space error

When trying to navigate in large Word files--about 50 pages long, with many photo files within, I get an error message that I do not have enough disk space to save the file, or to continue working in the fil. My MacBook has 109.17 GB available on the HD (out of 148.7 GB), so it doesn't seem to be that. What other form of memory can it be referring to? What can I do about this? The computer is old, but new to me, and the hard drive was reformatted when I got it, about three months ago.

    Hi...
The computer is old, but new to me, and the hard drive was reformatted when I got it, about three months ago.
Disk space and memory (RAM) are two differen things.
"not enough disk space" refers to the amount of free space on the hard disk.
Even though the drive was reformatted, might be a good time to run Disk Utility to see if  the startup disk needs repairing.
Launch Disk Utility located in /Applications/Utilities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If the disk needs repairing, follow the instructions for Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks
While you have Disk Utiilty open, check the S.M.A.R.T. status at the bottom of the window. Make sure it says:  Verified

  • Premiere Elements 12 Insufficient disk space

As soon as I alter the main title in the menu, it says "Insuficient disk-space" when I try to burn it to either a dvd or on harddrive.
I've tried it with standard menu-templates, my own templates, 3 ánd 6 menu-chapters per page.
Even with less markers then 25 (I've read there were some problems with it in earlier versions.
In all these ways there's no problem when i leave the film menu un-altered (in Duch: "Filmtitel hier", translation "Movie title here").
But when I do alter, it has not enough space to write to dvd or harddrive
If I tick off the "fit to available space" and adjust the slider till it fits, it get's stuck at around 5% writing every time.
    Is this a common problem?

What brand and type DVD disc are you using
DVD disc marked 4.7 GB/120 minutes
    or
DVD disc marked 8.5 GB/240 minutes?
    Verbatim DVD+R 4,7GB/120
When you have your DVD disc in the burner tray and have your Timeline with menus ready to be burned to disc (DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc), what does the burn dialog Quality area show for Space Required and Bitrate with and without a check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space"? And, when you have been doing these burn to disc, have you been doing that with or without the check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space".
With check mark: 4,37GB and  3,06Mbps
Without: 2,56GB and 1,69Mbps (slider full to the left)
When I burn to disk or folder (tried both) I tried with and without check mark.
In the Movie Menu section of the program, how many main menu pages and how many scene menu pages do you have when this problem exists?
1 main menu page and 12 scene menu pages (3/scene page) at this project. If I exceed 25 scenes  (thus 9 scene pages) the problem occurs "not enough available space".
As I write this, I've tried a menu with 6 scenes/page on the same project, so 1 main menu page and 6 scene menu pages, there is enough space to write either to 4,7GB disc or 4,7GB folder.
For troubleshooting purposes, does the burn to go to completion if you set only 6 menu markers on the Timeline and use a 6 scene buttons per page disc menu theme so that you have only 1 main menu page and 1 scene menu page?
I don't understand what you mean by this tbh. But burn option doesn't give any problems when I do this. The actual burn I don't know, but I will try on this project this weekend: Direct burn to DVD 4,7GB, 6 scene button disc menu, 6 markers, 1 main menu page/1 scene menu page.
Will come to that one later this weekend.
    Mads
Edit: Wait, maybe I actually díd understand that question

  • CS6 Bridge Insufficient disk space error when on the domain

We have a windows domain enviroment, and we run iMacs for the design team.  Using the newest Mac OS X we get the "Insufficient disk space to complete this opperation " error after loading images in Bridge and then try to change or saved them.  When we are not connected to the domain, we can modify and save them locally fine.  But once we log onto the Windows Domain (we have mapped drives using SMB links for storage) you can not use Bridge.  Is this a cashing issue with the mapped drives or is this something else.  I've only seen one other post on this and there was never a real fix.
They could use Brige fne on CS5 using the previous version of MacOS(in facct they still have to right now).  So i'm not sure if it is a Mac os issue or a windows/mac issue.  From what I understand the two macs (older laptop and newer laptop) are set up the same way with the mapped drives using the same Domain log in so the preferences are the same.
The new mac is loaded with an i7, and 16gb ram, and plenty of drive space so I know its not that.
    Thanks for any help

    Anybody have any ideas?
Not many here now about network set ups. Bridge is not designed for use over a network and also officially not supported by Adobe.
Bridge also uses a user specific library for its cache data.
This guy used to hang around here and has a successful set up for a network, try his blog:

You can put the database in 'SIMPLE' mode to stop logging during an heavy activity.
If you want to 'continue' with the 'logging' then you need to take backup frequently to prevent low space for log file problem. Execute the transactional log backup with more frequency during the long and heavy activity.

    Hi,
Following some tinkering by me following some Microsoft support suggestions, I think I have managed to solve my issues with windows updates...It did involve an emergency restart and a system restore from an external hard drive, and I think all is running OK now...the trouble is, I now can't seem to make a new back up on the external hard drive as it comes up with an error code and the OS_(E tools reporting low disk space. • IDVD reports strange insufficent disk space error message

I want to create a slide show DVD. When I open the project "Project Information" shows DVD capacitiy 0.6GB of 4.2 GB used. That seems ok, but when I try to save as Image I get an "insufficent disk space" error message (On the disk there are 28 GB free). After trying to save the Image "Project Information" says
    5084435456,8 GB used - what's going on?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Are you doing the Save as Disk Image... correctly? This seem really odd.
    File/Save as Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

I have an HP Envy m7 notebook. I am getting a warning from the HP Support Assistant that the Primary Drive C:  has low disk space. However, my Windows 8.1 Properties box for the C: drive says more that 90% of the drive is free, as I guessed. Why am I getting this seemingly incorrect warning?

    Hi sheryltoo,
Thank you for your query, I will do my best to assist you.
I understand the HP support assistant is giving you a low disk space error, but you have plenty of free space available.
Did the error pertain to a different drive letter other then you main drive?
I suggest you uninstall and reinstall the  The HP Support Assistant.  If you have an older versions installed that may be why you are getting a false error.
