Premiere freeze

Ive been editing HD in Premiere Pro CS3 version, with a core duo, a matrox RTx2, 4 gigs of ram and Raid drive. The drives are about 75% filled and I have been about to add a third drive.
The projects have been crashing occasionally, but now Ive encountered a start up problem. When I open the program, adobe opens but the field prompting me to open a project, but the field is in the lower third of the screen and I cannot drag it higher to see the whole field, and activate the buttons on the top menu.
Is there a cache file I can dump that might help this problem? I am unable to open my project.

I did- it opened the project! The window is still down at the bottom of my screen when it opens but once open I can drag it up to work on the project. weird!
Im worried now- but I can work on the project for now.
Thanks!

  • Premiere freezes when opening Help PDF file

When I click help in the help menu, the PDF opens right away, but then Premiere freezes for about 40 seconds. I suspect it is trying to download some Internet content, but this behavior needs to be fixed. My Mac Pro is connected to an AirPort Extreme via wifi, but this network is not connected to the Internet, it's just for internal file transfers. If I turn off the computer's wifi, this problem does not happen. I get the same symptoms with Premiere, After Effects, an Media Encoder. All of the help PDFs are downloaded already and show current in Adobe Help.

    Hi, spookybathtub,
Just confirming that you're running Premiere Pro CS6?

  • Premiere Freezes During Capture

I have a problem with Premiere freezing during capture, consistently at 17 minutes, around 25 seconds.
I am capturing from a Blackmagic Decklink SDI card, 720p 59.94, ProRes 422 HQ.  I've also tried LT.
I am running Premiere 6.0.2 on OS 10.6.8 on a Mac Pro.  My 1TB disk is empty and still has 900GB available after 17min of capturing.
    Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem. The diference is im capturing from another device (Sharp Video 8 camera connected to BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle for Thunderbolt). Premiere doesnt freeze, only the capture window shows freezed image, at some random point, first it was almost like afer 1hr of recording but now is at any time, sometimes after secconds. Sometimes i can still hit stop and the filename window appears so i can save the file, but other times it doesnt. I hit stop and nothing, so i try to hit record again and it starts recording again, i can tell because another file is created, but the previous file is corrupt (i suppose because it isnt closed by premiere).
I have a MacBook Pro Retina 16gb RAM 512 GB SSD, i dont think the computer has no capacity for handling this...

  • Premiere freezes when sending to Media Encoder Queue

    Hey guys,
This issue is on all of our computers (Mac Pros and 27" iMacs) and happens on 40% of attempted exports through Media Encoder.
    Here's our new workflow:
    - Export TImeline (Command + M)
    - Send to Media Encoder (Queue button)
    - Media Encoder Opens and Premiere gets hung on "Preparing Data for Export" dialogue
    - Force Quit Premiere and get a dialogue that "There has been a serious error and Premiere needs to close"
    - Reopen Premiere and try again – usually get a clean export (or two on a good day) before it craps out again
We've sort of gotten used to it but I'm wondering – anyone else having this issue? It's getting annoying (and embarrassing when you're in a client session).
Doesn't matter what timeline setting or what's on the timeline. Also doesn't matter what version of either program.

I am having the same problem (see Premiere now freezes on Media Encoder Queue)
I am on 2014.1 of both programs (8.1.0 on premiere, 8.1.0.122 of AME).  I know an update just came out today, but it seems to be just a RAW photo update.
Mine hangs when premiere is "Preparing Media for Export..."  It launches AME and AME boots up fine... so from where I sit, it looks like a Premiere problem as it's compiling the project file to export.
Neither "import natively / non natively" or GPU acceleration help.  However, I wouldn't expect them to, given this seems to be a premiere problem, not an AME problem.
That thread does not apply re: nView.

  • Why is Premiere freezing when I load a project?

Ok.. this is just bizzare. I was running Premiere on:
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz 2.67 GHz
    9.00 GM RAM
    32-bit Operating System
But... Premiere couldnt export without getting an error. I brought it to a repair show and they told me it was WIndows 7 at fault.
So, I instaleld a new 1 TB hard drive and installed Vista Home Premium on the hard drive with the same other specs, and reinstaleld the Adobe Master Collection. I completed 90 seconds of a project with no problem. now, all the sudden... when I load the project, I can't do anything without it freezing! I
literally can't click on a part of the timelinme or click any effects, nothing.  There is no reason for this at all since it is a brand new hard drive, operating system,
everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is beyond annoying.

What is the make/model of your video card, and have you updated the driver for it? What is the version/date of your current video driver?
While you are at it, also update your audio driver, as well.

  • Can't import flip video - Premiere freezes

I'm using CS3 Premiere Pro, and am trying to import a flip .mp4 clip that is 1.07GB and roughly 30 min in length.  When I try to import the clip - Premiere just freezes and I have to end the process. I've never had a problem like this before, and while I recently upgraded cameras to one that's 60fps - I have no problem importing shorter clips.  I've searched, but have not seen any info on file size limits. Would appreciate any help - thanks!!!

    Candygirl,
Can you please give us a bit more information.
Knowing about your computer, the CPU, installed RAM, OS and especially the full details of your I/O, i.e. all of your HDD's, their size, speed, controller type amount of free space on each, plus how you have them allocated.
Then, knowing the settings for your Sequence would be useful, along with the full specs. of the Flip's MP4 files, would be useful.
Good luck, and thanks for that info,
    Hunt

  • Premiere freezes when rendering in timeline (exporting is working fine). After crash, project seems corrupted.

OK... I'm using the latest PP CC with Windows 7 64-bit on an iMac.
I recently formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Premiere, and since then I've been unable to render in timeline (pressing enter). I can still export media without rendering, and it all works perfectly, but when I try to render it always freezes and I have to force quit program.
In addition to this problem, when I try to re-open the project I was working on it says "This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type".
I've read some threads on this, and I'm able to make a new project and import the sequences from the corrupted project onto it, but I don't want to have to do this every time! Is there any way to fix these problems?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
The error message that you have given occurs mainly when Premiere Pro is not activated properly or even sometimes when Creative Cloud Desktop app is not updated or you are not signed in.
To troubleshoot, first make sure your Creative Cloud Desktop app is updated and you are signed in. Next launch Premiere Pro and sign out and sign back in to Premiere. Next try to open your particular project.
In case you still get the same error, check your hosts file (hosts file location: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc).
    Let me know the outcome.
    Thanks!

  • Premiere freezes when trying to add media to the timeline.

    Dxdiag:
    I start up Premiere.
I import a file via File > Import...
I drag the file but it doesn't move and causes the program to freeze.
I have updated all my drivers already and this has been going on for the past 6 months but now I need the program for my next class.

Apparently iTunes froze because of an .m3u file that was in the folder.  The icon for the .m3u file was the same as the .mp3 files and I hadn't noticed it until I attempted to play the file as a last resort to add the music to iTunes.

  • Premiere freezes when shuttling left in multi-camera window

Ever since I upgraded to CS4, if I shuttle left (press J) while stopped inside the Multi-Camera window, Premiere will freeze. Sometimes its 3-5 seconds, sometimes its for good. While the interface doesn't completely lock up (I can click on things), if I try to stop and re-play something using the mouse, there will continue to be a delay. If I shuttle left while playing inside Multi-Camera, however, it works fine. I do not encounter this type of freezing anywhere else in the software (if I shuttle left from the actual timeline, not Multi-Camera, its fine).
I'm using CS4 on the Mac. This never happened in CS3. Because of the annoying behavior of Multi-Camera, if I do live switching, making an edit mark when I stop playing, I have to constantly start and stop when making my edits, so this rewind behavior is EXTREMELY annoying. And because I do 90% of my work inside Multi-Camera, I can't escape the problem.
Is this happening to anyone else?? Any suggestions?

I'll try to reproduce on my end.  in the meantime, have you tried something as simple as this? http://blogs.adobe.com/genesisproject/2009/11/having_weird_behavior_with_an.html
You might also try cleaning your media cache (prefs>media I think).
    Hope this helps,
    Dennis

  • Error, Premiere Freezes on certain files only. Import .XML file

So I just imported an XML FCP file onto CS4 Premiere (PC) so I could do some after effects compositing. At first i had trouble since the sequence media was off line i had to link each media. This was because the files were in a Apple formated hard drive, and in many folders.
I am running the project on PC through premiere (4.01), but i have the external hard drive running off a usb connection.
I started color correcting first on Premiere, but ran into the problem that it freezes when i try to select certain files, or when i try to apply an effect.
it reads. "Premiere Pro has encountered an error [../Src/Sequence/TrackItemSelection.cpp-156]"
i tried searching this online i couldn't find anything.
I am running XP Professional, Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @2.40GHZ, 4 GB of Ram

  • Dynamic Link from Premiere freezes at 50%

I have never used the dynamic link from Premiere CS4 to Encore CS4 so I don't know if this feature has ever worked. I tried to send just a 25 minute unedited timeline to Encore to see if it worked.  Encore goes through it's features but freeze at 50% at transporting timeline.  Any ideas?

I may have answered my own question. I finually did get it to work, maybe by chance.  I msconfig and cleaned out my start up menue and that seems to have cured it.

  • At the end of exporting Premiere freezes for a few minutes

    Hi,
    my computer is a i7 4930K @4,5GHz, 16GB RAM, 250GB SSD, Radeon 6950.
I was editing a 50 minutes long movie (cca 20GB source clips, cca 4,5GB output movie).
The export ran very well finishing after about 25 minutes but then Premiere froze with message "encoding, 0 seconds remaining" displayed and nothing seemed to be happening.
I realized the HDD activity was shining (not even blinking), the Widnows resource monitor reported cca 70-100MB/s transfer on my SSD (even though I think my SSD should be faster) and when I held F5 while looking into the export directory the output file was growing on capacity.
If I concider 70MB/s writing the task shloud be done in cca 1 minute. But it took I would say 5 minutes or even more finishing this task. RAM was not even fully used.
    Is this behaviour normal?
How can I improve this? Is my SSD slow?
    Thanks

Multiplexing is the process of interleaving the audio and video in a single output file. When you export with multiplexing set to None, you'll end up with the audio and video in separate files. That's probably not what you want.
That said, I suggest doing one export with the multiplexer set to None. If encoding then completes immediately upon hitting 100%, that  confirms that multiplexing is what's adding time at the end.
What I don't know is how long multiplexing should take for a sequence of a given duration.
If you're so inclined, you could submit a bug report that the progress bar doesn't factor in the multiplexing time.
