Premiere incapable of dual view?

We recently purchased the Adobe CS3 Suite along with the Matrox RT.X2 card and, apparently, we aren't able to use Premiere Pro with dual monitors unless we do the Horizontal Span (won't work with dual view). Is this a problem of Premiere Pro, or the Matrox card?
Does anyone know if this is something that is supposed to be fixed with future updates?
Thanks.

More info on dual monitors in Premiere Pro.

  • 2-Port Dual View KVM Switch

I'm about to purchase a 2012 (late fall) Mac Mini.  I currently use a G5 Tower w/Tiger, with two monitors VGA monitors.  As technology changes faster than I can keep up, is there a chance that "2-Port Dual View KVM Switch" means I could connect two monitors at the same time?  I want to be able to switch between the G5 and the Mac Mini.
Part of the discription reads: This new KVM Switch lets you control two dual-head, VGA-enabled USB computers from one USB console that includes two VGA monitors.
    Please advise.
    Patt

    Thanks Eric,
I know that Kvm is used to swap between two computers, what I don't know is if there a way to swap dual monitors.  If I continue to use my G5, as this has all the software I use, and soon the internet will become less and less usualble on the G5, will the KVM work swaping back and forth if I use two monitor on my G5 and one monitor on my Mac Mini?  Of course, my goal is to continue using both my VGA monitors for both Macs.
I'm understanding that since the 2012 Mac Mini only has room for one VGA monitor which is connected to the thunderbold port via an adapter which comes with the Mac Mini  (true or false)?
I'm understanding that I could connect the Mac Mini to two VGA monitors if I purchase an adapter that would connect to the HDMI port and using the DVI port/adapter VGA - I can connect two monitors.
But will the KVM have the means for swapping the mouse, keyboard and two monitors back and forth? This is my big hurtle.
This is what I saw on the discription that was different from other KVM discriptions.
"This new KVM Switch lets you control two dual-head, VGA-enabled USB computers from one USB console that includes two VGA monitors."
You were very kind to help, I hope my clarification helps.

  • Qosmio x300 - no dual view option when using analogue

Have plugged in an analogue monitor. I can get an image to appear on either the analogue monitor or the laptops LCD but I can't get it to appear on both, i.e. dual view - either extended desktop or clone.
I have a Qosmio (a regret since buying it due to all the problems it has and Toshiba customer service have!). Its an x300-13w and I am running win vista x64.
I have the latest drivers from Toshiba website and looking to various forums I have tried to find a reg key called DisableDualView but cannot find such a key (the key probably only exists in win xp).
After removing the analogue monitor my laptop is now playing up further in that every time it logs in it does so under a lower resolution then flicks back to the correct high resolution.
Have tried turning sli off in case that was the cause of the problem but that was no help.
The problem appears to be that neither the nvidia control panel nor windows display settings shows the option for multiple monitors, both display only a single monitor option.
In the windows display settings I can only see "generic php monitor on nvidia geforce 9800...." and when I plug in the analogue monitor it says "multiple monitors on nvidia geforce...." however the monitor icon only shows one monitor.
In the nvidia control panel I only see the option "only use one display (single)".
Any suggestions on what I might try?
I seem to have some memory of having to change something in BIOS to switch between using HDMI and VGA but can't remember where I might have seen this.

    frther update:
have been playing around with the settings... i can only get dual view to appear as an option and to work if i use the 9400m integrated graphics in windows power saver scheme.
when i turn off SLi (by turning the power scheme to power saver) i note the following:
    1) dual view works
    2) Windows shows only the LCD and CRT on the 9400m graphics (which i understand is the integrated graphics)
    3) Nvidia control panel also shows that the 9400M is in use
does the 9800m gts not support dual view?
when i turn on SLi i note:
    1) dual view does not work
    2) windows device manager shows 4 monitors. 2 on the 9400m and 2 on the 9800m gts.
    3) nvidia shows only the LCD on the 9800m gts. there is no sign of the crt.
so my problem is now narrowed down to:
i can't use dual view when the computer is in performance or balanced mode (power scheme options).
has anyone successfully used the dual view option on the 9800m gts when in performance and\or SLi mode? any tips on how i can too ;)
considerign the advantage of SLi i would have expected the 9400 to complain and the 9800 to be running just fine.

  • 5600XT - 2nd Monitor flickers in Dual View

Problem Description: I am running on dual monitor mode using two Samsung Syncmaster 171s monitors.  After 20 minutes of the system being up and running the second monitor has started switching on and off every 10 seconds or so, the on and off becomes more rapid if I open a video editing suite like Adobe premiere pro, any ideas as to the problem.....?
    many thanks

    Hi redturnover
Could be a bad or loose connection, the connection method, the adapter, the cable or the Refresh Rate.
Disconnect everything and reconnect it in the following order:
    1. Connect the cable to the Acer
    2. Connect the Adapter to the cable
    3. Connect the Adapter to the iMac
Also tie up and/or support the cable and adapter so that it is not pulling or putting un-due strain on the iMac's video output port.
Then go to: System Preferences > Displays and check the Refresh Rate to make sure that it is within the Acer Spec's of 49 to 75Hz. I believe you should be able to select either 60 or 75Hz, if your using either a DVI or HDMI connection.

  • Adobe Premiere 6.5 Dual Monitors?

I've just installed dual monitors on my Adobe Premiere 6.5 on Windows XP...  and I can move all my programs from one monitor to another EXCEPT Adobe!?  The board is recycled from an older Adobe Premiere 6.5 system, so I know it works.   Any ideas?  dd.  PS.  I noticed that once I'd changed it's size (clicking on middle icon in top right corner) I could move all the other programs from one monitor to the other... but I could not make a size change (the seemingly prerequisite to move the program from Monitor to Monitor) when I clicked on that same icon when AP 6.5 was open?  PPS.  The AP Help Window opens on the 2nd Monitor?

    Please don't double-post.  I deleted the duplicate.

  • Premiere crashes on icon view

    Dear Adobe Community,
I'm having serious problems with my Premiere.
I work with the latest version (7.2.2) of the application on a Windows PC.
    My configurations are the following:
    Intel i7 2600k @ 3.40 GHz
    16GB DDR3 Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz
120GB SSD Samsung 840 Series Basic
    Sapphire ATI Radeon R9 270 2GB VRAM
I have the latest drivers installed.
The crash occurs as soon as I try to switch from list view to icon view in my project browser. The thumbnails come up but Premiere crashes with a serious problem notification shortly after (no further infos whatsoever).
I've tested my RAM by using MEMtest86: No errors. I have narrowed it down to my graphic card. I plugged it out for testing and had no problems with the icon view.
The graphic card has currently the AMD Beta-Driver (14.3 Beta) but that didn't help. Before that I had the 13.12 version installed.
I've also tried switching the Open_CL Support off.
Do you have any idea what could be the problem?
Thank you very much for your answer in advance!
    Greetings,
    Nicolas

I'm having the same exact problem when I switch to Icon View from List View, except my crash occurs almost as soon as I start scrolling through the Icons/thumbnails.
This crashes my system EVERY TIME!! I have the latest updates for my Mac, Premiere Pro CC and my nVidia CUDA drivers.
I would greatly appreciate someone's help. Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Dave

  • Only partial audio from 25+GB .avi file in Premiere Elements 11 Expert View

I have a new Toshiba laptop with i7 processor, 8GB memory, and Win 8.1
I have 25+GB .avi files containing 2-3 of my kids baseball games.  I want to create DVDs of say 2 games per with start & stop main menu markers.
I bring the .avi file into Expert View.  Problem is not all the audio is there.  Starts out with no audio showing then some appears.  Several games are
each 8mm tape which I copy to HD as 1 .avi .  I guess I can copy one game at a time from 8mm creating individual .avi game files. Not sure how large
they are and if all audio appears.  I'm currently doing that.
    Appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks...

    104ketch,
Did you clean out the Meda Cache, before you discovered the loss of Audio?
To play Audio on the Timeline, and to display the Waveform, you need the CFA and PEK files. This article goes into more detail: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3892177#3892177
One of the most common causes of not having Audio, or truncated Audio, is that the Conforming process did not complete 100%.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere elements 10 and viewing video - avi

Hi all, I am completely baffled at the moment. I am running 2 systems, both with adobe premiere elements 10 and full content packs. I have also installed k-lite codecs pack on both machine. One is a dell i5 lptop and the other is an i7 tower. I am editing the same set of videos, I have copied a set to my desktop and have another set on my laptop. The issue is this:
On the laptop I open premiere, get media and select the avi file I want to edit, the file appears and you can see the image of the video file. It is then OK to work from and edit.
On the desktop, I open premiere, get medi and select the avi file I want to edit, the file appears but this time there is no image just the audio sign. I try to put it intot he video timeline but it only imports the audio.
I have been stumped all night. Why will it work on one machine and not the desktop?
Please can someone help me with this?
    Cheers
    Darryl

1 - you are in the wrong forum, you need to go to
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere_elements
2 - H.264 will NOT work inside an AVI wrapper http://forums.adobe.com/thread/854115

  • Premiere 7 will not view files that Premiere 4 WOULD view.

I have a canon sd870 IS point and shoot camera and I've been shooting a lot of videos with it that I compile together in PRE4. I just downloaded the trial for PRE7 and it gives me this message when trying to use the same video files:
"This type of file is not supported or the required codec is not installed"
I don't understand why they would remove the ability to view files from a NEWER version?
Is there some way to get PRE7 to read my video files that are readable by PRE4?
    Thanks!

    BarbO,
Mine is simple, Bill Hunt. That is about the only UserID that I can remember nowadays!
I really believe that the client-base of these camera mfgrs. would benefit, if only the camera companies were forthcoming about their CODECs and shared them via an installable file.
Nikon did sell additional software, Nikon Capture XX, but I think that Canon's only endeavor is with the bundled software. It is not like they are trying to coin the market on NLE's, or anything.
I understand their wanting to improve quality and performance, but should realize that editing of their material will occur with many, if not most users.
What we are likely to see will be consumers railing against Adobe, Sony, Pinnacle and the rest, because they have not moved at the speed of light to incorporate the newer schemes, while it behooves the camera company to make the info available and to even be proactive in the spread and use of its schemes. Heck, even looking at the tech specs. for the cameras on the Nikon and Canon site doesn't yield much useful info - OK, they get good quality onto a small footprint, but HOW?
At least with Sony/Minolta, the new changes can be included in Vegas, but Nikon & Canon do not have a stake in the NLE market, of which I am aware.
Each camp's followers claim that their camera is the new state-of-the-art and will replace mini-DV tape-based capture. I just don't see this happening, until the mfgrs. furnish the proper tools, especially tools that can be "plugged-in" to current NLEs. Our task is to find the best way to get this new footage into the NLE with the fewest steps for happy editing. As users seem loathe to use any 3rd party programs for Capture or conversion, it's not easy. They just assume that Adobe, Sony, Pinnacle and the rest are dragging their feet and are not quick enough to adopt and adapt.
Will be an interesting quarter, for sure.

  • Marvericks effecting Premiere Pro source panel viewing

    Hello,
After updating to Mavericks 10.9.2 I am having issues previewing video clips in Premiere Pro CS6 in the Source Panel Pane. The "rolling beach ball of death" appeares and the Souce Monitor says it's opening the file. The small clips use to take seconds to open, now it's taking minutes before I decide to force quite the application. I can't keep doing this with super short dead lines. Can I increase the memory alloted to the software, or is this a Mavericks thing?
I wish I never updated to Mavericks. I understand they want to protect us from ourselves, but this is rediculous.
    Help anyone?

Q: I can't get the highly compressed, not designed for editing video from my POS consumer camera to work in the professional  NLE I downloaded illegally from Pirate Bay.  Help!
A: Go to school for video production.  Learn what the hell you're doing.  Buy a professional camera to combine with your properly purchased copy of Premiere Pro.
You can edit the specific language, of course.

  • Premiere CS4 - Project panel - viewer

Is it possibel to make the little viewer in the upper left corner bigger in the project panel.?

  • Displays switch around when using dual view on Satellite P100

I have a Satellite P100-434 (PSPADE). I am trying to use the laptop as the primary display and an LCD screen as a secondary monitor. I have found that no matter how I configure this, using either the Vista display properties or through the Nvidea control panel I am getting a problem where the monitors periodically swap over.
I am not bothered which device is the primary but getting the system to make it's mind up would be really usefull.
This seems to happen when I am typing, making me wonder if there is a keypress that I am inadvertantly triggering which is causing this to happen. Ideas anyone?

    Hi,
you should do the following things:
    - update your bios to the latest available version
    - update your display drivers and any other remaining drivers in your system to the latest available version
    - maybe, if the driver updates dont really help you out, recover your machine with the recovery media and check if the error re-appears.
IF all these steps didnt worked for you, then come back and we will discuss it further. :)

  • Print Screen while using dual view monitors on Tecra M5

I've got a Tecra M5, in a docking station, and I am using the laptop screen as primary monitor and an external LCD as the secondary. Whenever I use the Print Screen function I find it copies both screens into the clipboard. Is there a setting on the nvidia controls which will allow me to only copy the "active" screen? To avoid the problem I find I have to return to single screen mode which is very irritating.
    Thanks
    Shuggy

I assume you use the extended desktop option on your machine
This happens because the ALT+Print Screen option creates a short cut of the full desktop.
If you want to create a shortcut of the single desktop you dont have to use the extended desktop option.
