Premiere is intent on destroying my life

After several months of premiere crashing every 10 minutes I was finally able to get a rough cut of my film done.
Now, suddenly, whenever I try to open up my project, premiere will shut down with not even a warning message.
I tried deleting the media cache files, error checking the hard drive, tried going back to some older project files, nothing helps.
If I load a project file unrelated to this project, premiere will not crash.
Using CS3.1.1
4 gb ram
1tb raid drive
System is up to spec
The project is 90 minute feature length HDV.
Project contains several hundred clips so it takes premiere 25 minutes to load. The crashing occurs at the end of the loading. There is usually no error message, premiere just quietly shuts down.

Final Cut people -
I purchased a new Imac and new Adobe Premier Pro CS6 in September of this year. I had constant crashing issues with the program (the only thing I have on this computer). So I installed more RAM (I now have 32 Gigs of it), completely cleared my hard drive and re-installed it. Re-installed PPCS6 and again the updates. I had to purchase a simple and inexpensive program to burn DVDs which works (because I can't burn a simple DVD on this expensive overly complicated program that crashes if I look at it sideways). The iMac is mid 2011, 2.5 GHz Intel i5 Radeon Hd graphics etc., perfectly fine (it's not my computer) PPCS6 is still crashing whenever I try to do anything. I'm tired of all this but my 30 days is up. So apparently I'm stuck with it. I bought this program because it was compatible with my Panasonic P2 cards. Although I have apparently thrown away a considerable amount of money on this, I'm still willing to sink deeper and purchase something else. Do you know if Final Cut reads P2 cards (without having to take 4 years university to understand how), and if I can leave the PPCS6 on my computer, in the unlikely event they fix the bugs on this thing some day?
I too am a sadist. But the more I pay, the more pain I receive it seems. Tell me about your FC? and P2 files?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.

When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.

Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

Help! Spam is destroying my life.

Okay, so the topic was a little dramatic but I am drowning in spam. I get at least 100 spam emails per day. My new ISP (1and1) was filtering these things and putting them in an Spam folder on the server but this was conflicting with my many mail rules so I turned it off.
Mail is not recognizing much spam. I feel like there must be some way to get this working better (getting mail to recognize more Spam). Have some ideas?
Should I change my email address?
Is there other spam software that I could use???

Also, any spam filter is going to need to be trained so make sure you've given teh Apple Mail filter enough data to work with - when mail comes in that's junk, right click on it and choose mark as...junk. If it incorrectly marks a mail as just, there will be a button in the mail window to mark it as not being junk.
It'll take a while to be trained properly, but after a month or so you should start getting close to 100% accuracy.
Another idea would be to forward all of you mail from your current address through GMail or yahoo mail, as they have built in spam filtering that also seems to do a pretty good job.
I find with the combination Apple's built in filtering and GMail's all of the 250 odd spam messages I get per day are flagged correctly and I haven't had a false positive in recent memory.
Spam Seive is a great product, and I used to use it, but just want to let you know that there are free alternatives that work just as well.

IPhone 3G/4G vs. WiFi battery life.

Ok, so obviously using WiFi over 3G/4G will increase your battery life on any device. However the question I have is with regard to how the iPhone and iPad manages those connections. If I go into settings and toggle my WiFi on and toggle 3G/4G/Cellular Data off, WiFi is the only internet connection protocol on, which betters battery life. However, what happens to my battery life if I toggle my WiFi on, and leave 3G/4G/Cellular Data on? Does the iPhone intellegently turn off cellular data while using WiFi in order to achieve that same increase in battery life? Or does the device leave both WiFi and cellular data on, destroying battery life? Or does something inbetween happen, like WiFi potentially turning off when the phone goes into standby?
I've been curious about this for a while and I've gotten many different answers from people, ranging from genius bar employees to iOS software developers.
I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering this.

I have this problem also since V3 - but it is just a display problem, the actual battery life is fine. It most commonly fails to recharge (on the display menubar) though the display on full-screen is fine. A reset restores it but the problem will recur.
More seriously the same problem affects phone connection; we are near the edge of coverage and the menubar will show 'no coverage' even in a strong signal until the phone is reset (it never changes on its own). Sometimes it seems this is true (that is the phone does not connect) other times it seems just the display.

Retina macbook pro, worst purchase experience ever

I bought my Macbook pro at the beginning of July. Specs were 2.6ghz processor, 512 drive with 16 gb of ram. First mac I ever purchased. Sold my windows laptop which had similar specs and had worked a charm but the enticement of the new pro was too tempting.
It took about 3 weeks for it to reach me.. not bad...

Before I use a computer, before i trust it i like to stress test it. On a PC this is easy you just run pcmark for a few days if no fail, everything is great.
On a mac you run hardware test.. Ok... so I run it. Low and behold.. it freezes after a bit... Hmmm.. not much on the net about that... Try it again and it passed for 14 hours... ok..
That evening.. Go to use one of my hard drive.. The OS claims it failed.. Un repairable, copy what files you can... But.. 50% of the files are missing.
Ok.. well Im in good shape. I run 4 hard drives one is a raid 1 array. 90% of my files were backed up.

Suspicious I take my mac in to be looked at by a genius. The genius is astute and says.. well It passes all our tests if this keeps occuring we will replace it since it is brand new.
I go home.. And start using it... It eats another hard drive and fails the hardware test again. Ok.. I still have my raid array. I call them. Please replace this POS. Sure they say.. no problem its just going to take three weeks...
Three weeks.. But I work with my computer it is my life line.. Well it seems to work fine except it has assainated another hard drive.. But it couldnt take down the raid.. It tried, but the raid rebuilt itself. Safe.. I thought.
Fast forward one day. It killed my raid disk,
This computer, this peice of aluminum garbage is toxic. It is trying to destroy my life and I have to life with this thing for 3 weeks while I try desperately to juggle my hard drives reformatting and only leaving one online in hopes it will last a day, maybe two.
This computer is ruining my life.. Time to order a new one from the mac store? 7 days.. Time for me who waited a month only to get a destructive non-functional tool? 3 weeks.

Unfortunately I cannot go back to a Windows PC. It was a long drawn out decision to go to Mac and the reason why was.. Efficency. Even with lesser hardware the Mac offeres a smoother operator experience. And once you learn to navigate it it is quite user friendly.
It is true I am a Mac newbie but by no means am I a computer newbie. Macs have a huge amount in common with a windows PC and any/all operations I do I researched first. So - yes my initial drives were NTFS, but I installed an appropriate third party plug in to allow my Mac to read them, I then formatted the Raid array to a nonencrypted Journal format and one external to exfat just in case.
It is not a problem with mountain lion or mac usage. This notebook is a destroyer. A informational anarchist, firebombing storehouses of information. It kills drives swiftly and efficiently and if you try to repair them it garbles them.
One poster mentioned it was sheer folly to switch over to a new computer system without keeping my old one as backup. This seems par for the course because you shodl always have a back up however there were two reasons I did not do so
1) I got a good offer on my PC, tech changes so quick that the value drops monthly, not annually, to wait was to lose money and the macbook was expensive so wanted to cover some of the cost
2) I have NEVER had this computing experience before. I have had computers that acted funny, blue screened or otherwise failed and there was always the potential that such could corrupt a hardrive or a portion of the data if it was writing to the drive but I coudl not anticiapte actually been locked in a room with a cat that almost seems intent on eviscerating my data. The experience feels like I am literally under assualt. I also would not have expected that Apple, having shipped me a dysfunctional unit (Don't they run hardware test before shipping? Seems criminal to have this kind of QC failure) would make me wait three weeks to replace it. How is that justified when they ship new units in 1 week? I foudn the same experience previaled when I ordered my Macbook, because I ordered it earlier and they later updated shipping dates to 1-2 weeks form 3-4 weeks people who ordered after me were getting their computers before me even though I paid for priority shipping. It seems to me that their policies are more bent on making new customers happy rather then ensuring people who already purchased are happy.
That said with "generic" mac items its being great. My service with iphones and ipads have been excellent when they can just substituted things. It seems to be the customization process that causes the difficulties.

From your contribution I guess that you are not very careful
and allow bad people to compromise you computer and data.
Ask a specialized company for help. As doctor cannot heal remotely, at least real doctors, we cannot heal your computer and your feelings.
Do not include telephone number, bank account, personal data and other sensitive data
everywhere in internet if you are not sure enough.... Think ten times when you respond to unknown people in e-mail communication as well as do not respond to known people when there is request for personal or bank data or at least something "strange".
Adapt security standards. Start here to have some insight into problem

If your device has been jailbroken during the warranty, Apple will not service it.

I need some help. From someone with really great knowledge and connections.
(but I'm going to write a bad question (maybe) because I'm fed up with idiotic know-how insides like "how to write a good question". a question is always good, mind you. But I don't know if I should post it in another topic, if so, feel free to fix that, anyone, thx).
I just bought a mac book air, and strange things are happening.
For instance, the computer would block, I can't click anywhere with any result for sth like 30 sec. It's brand new. I've just unpacked it.
Or the bookmarks in safari were strange, because there was my own bank in it (+ apple + google maps + wikipedias + misc.). (I'm not suffering any memory affection or anything).
Or I just did a research with google (sim city) and results appeared with "Disney" in the research field.
To set the scene, my Facebook and Twitter accounts are quite often hacked, with the same subtle processes. (like" they" or God maybe, someone who's not me, would add some followers supposedly added a few weeks ago, and so on). I think I'm being followed by a few excited engineers with great extended connections (because (probably) I filed a case against them, for...harassment. (It's been going on for a few years and I'm really, really tired, given that they used the info they got to destroy my life , social relations and career )
I can't believe a just-bought-just-started computer could be hacked so easily. Although I had logged into my apple account. And they got my Ip address. But the only things I downloaded were uploads from the app store.
How can you prove your computer is being hacked?

I don't know what they want, and I can't make you understand how it feels to be constantly "spied" on whatever you're doing - especially work when you're not someone who believes she does everything right or ever will or ever wants to be that kind of person. They made me lose hours and hours with my printer, lose documents, and so on.
If you were a hacker, benwiggy you'd be caught. Probably. On the long term, that is.
If you push the game too much, then it's too obvious and cops will have to react. It won't last. It's much more fun to drive someone mad with no possibility to assert her basic rights, for lack of proofs. (therefore the quicktime solution is not a bad one, although it does not fix everything. Yesterday I got a video of my mouse moving by itself right in the middle of something I was doing (entering an email address) on this computer but still, it's no obvious proof, I could have done it myself (say you're typing extremely fast with just one hand, using the other to click right on the other field).
It's much more efficient than crashing a hard drive.And not less annoying. And I did crash my hard drive all by myself, twice, after several complete reinstallation of mac os on my previous computer. And then, I was so annoyed by their little game that I banged my fist on the computer, which did not prove convincing. At the end of the day, that's two hard drives and one complete machine broken, just on me.
Anyway, speaking about it is a good defensive mean, so thank you.
I think people should know about this category of hacking. It's quite disgusting. I would prefer a good hacker attack, with a pirate boat flashing several times on my screen, and then the whole thing exploding.That would be sort of fair piracy. (But mines are cowards).

JABrack: The current plan is to
have heirloom items stop at level 80 at the moment.
palondon: Right now, up to 50% of Ignite damage disappears
due to the technical limitations of spells critting within certain timeframes.
This has implications for Mage dps and the value of Mastery as a stat. Is
overall damage being balanced to compensate and can we expect a solution in the
near future?
TomChil: We're resolving that by
rolling up any "lost" ignite damage into the next ignite that
overwrote it

Tab" to the UI, so that tabard collectors can switch out tabards more

isn't something we are adding for Cataclysm though.

potentially add queueing to the rated battlegrounds instead of it having to be
a pre-made raid team? I was really excited when I first heard about this
feature, but after reading the FAQ i was a bit disappointed with that design.
TomChil: we're currently looking
into the possibility of having players in the honor battleground queue be able
to be called to action by groups that aren't quite full, but we're going to see how the current queue'ing
works out first - that isn't something that would be available just yet
Guest-85: Will you allow players to fill their quest log
with say, 25 dailies, and then turn them in right after Midnight on December
7th to get a quick boost towards 85? This is how it worked in the beta, but
some players are confused on whether it will work on Live. Thanks!
JABrack: Regarding 25 daily
quests to turn in when the expansion goes live, this is something players have
been able to do for the last 2 expansions and we aren't talking about changing
it now.
Guest-224: Is Hit rating intended to tramp all other stats
but Str for Fury till the 27% hardcap? Seems excessive
TomChil: generally speaking, we
do balance hit rating to be the "best" stat until you're at the hit
rating cap

perspective but I was wondering if the deveopers were disappointed in the
decision to allow race changes immediately following the release of the
expansion.
JABrack: Regarding allowing
race/faction change on day one. Actually this wasn't an economic decision at
all. This was a decision that the leadership team made. Our priority as a dev
team is to allow players to play the game with their friends, the way they want
too.
We also talked about the
fact that this is a week one problem. So we made the decision not to restrict
anything.
felixlevron: Will darnasus be re built to be a real tree or
will it always look like a dead stump with trees at the top.
TomChil: ...but now that
Deathwing is doing his thing it makes much more sense than it used to! ;]
Zarhym: Deathwing hates trees.
axelumog: A lot of players I know are trying to plan out
what characters to roll for the new expansion, and the big question is: Will
there be ANY new realms tagging along with the release of Cataclysm? Some point
to low pop realms as a reason against, but surely with the redux'd 1-60
experience and the droves of returning players desiring clean slates, there has
never been a better time for a fresh realm or two?
JABrack: We haven't decided
exactly what the new realm decisions are yet, but we open new realms when there
is player demand for them. One thing we can't do is plan all realms for day
one. The goal is for realms to have good concurrency so everyone has a great
game/matchmaking experience.
Guest-138: Could you comment on the plan for raids in
cataclysm? If i remember it was said that there would be smaller raids in cata
but more of them. Would that mean like two small raids per patch or more
patches in total?
TomChil: the idea is that we'll
have more raid environments, but fewer bosses in each environment, but a similar
total number of raid bosses overall... if that makes sense. =] So, for cataclysm launch we have the skywall
environment, the twilight bastion environment, and blackwing descent versus
having almost all the bosses in one environment like we did with naxrammas
Wikehaja: With the changes to the game environment itself,
what new computer requirements will be optimal to run the game smoothly?
JABrack: One of the things that
is really important to us is a great gaming experience regardless of your
hardware. While the system requirements do go up over time, we do want the
experience on slower machines to be great. We do this by trying to add a lot of
graphical options to allow players to control the experience from "runs
fast" all the way to "looks great".
Retro94: Will there be more than one Legendary weapon in
Cata? Will there be a Caster DPS legendary? Any info or plans would be awesome
=) Thanks!
TomChil: It's likely there will
be more than one legendary weapon, although it's too early to say for sure. We
do, however, have a plan to do a caster dps staff soon.

TomChil: Egypt ;]
JABrack: The idea with Uldum is
that it has always been there, cloaked from the eyes of the players. The
emergence of Deathwing has damaged some of the technology that kept it hidden.
There is a story in the zone that explains this and what has been happening in
the player absence.
MatthewRhino: With resource systems now broadened to include
focus, rage, energy, and runic power as well as mana, and there being
conditionals like enrages, holy power, combo points and runes, will classes
that just use mana be getting similar treatment or remaining as they are?
TomChil: Really that decision is
made on a class-by-class, talent tree-by-tree basis. If we feel like the talent
spec in question needs a broader resource management then we do it, but we
don't like to unnecessarily complicate a spec's resource management if it isn't
absolutely necessary.
Guest-14: Is the Moonkin form for troll and worgen on the
beta and ptr the final form or is it just a placeholder?
JABrack: Final!
Guest-12: Why is it that we are
not able to use Archeaology before the exspansion? I thought it was really cool
how you guys released Inscription last time and would love to have the
opportunity to level it before the exspansion drops.
JABrack: Using archeology before
the expansion was something we talked about, but ended up adding everything
about the profession to the "post sundered" world. Thus, you won't be
able to use archeology before the sundering happens.

Sair77: The first tier of Cataclysm raiding has 3 seperate instances to tackle. Are you guys planning on keeping with the Burning Crusade model (SSC/TK, BT/Hyjal) and having multiple instances per raid tier? Will Deathwing have to share the spotlight with some other instance?
TomChil: We'll evaluate that on a tier by tier basis. When we have awesome ideas that we can successfully make happen we'll do multiple environments, but it won't necessarily always be the case. We do have a super cool idea for the deathwing tier though... or at least so we hope. =]
Zuesian: Are there any plans for a new Lock mount? I would love to see a possible flying mount for Locks. Fireion Gnomeragen.
JABrack: One of the things we look at with mounts is broad appeal. While we do specific class mounts from time to time, most of the time we look to have mounts that all classes can use.

Guest-128: As the world of Azeroth is changing I was wondering if the Death Knight zone will stay the same or will it also be affected by the cataclysm?
JABrack: The death knight zone doesn't have any changes for Cataclysm.
Guest-310: I have been confused from the different posts for tier gear. Will there be three levels within each tier still or just heroic and normal and in either case will u just be getting them with points or will u still have to get certain things off drops off certain bosses to get the higher more heroic version of the tier gear?
TomChil: There is still just normal and heroic difficulty for the raid and dungeon content, and the heroic gear has a higher item level than the corresponding normal gear
Guest-392: Do you feel faction imbalance is a problem at the moment? My queue is around 10-15 min at prime time as a member of the Horde and I know this is the case on at least two of the battlegroups. If so, do you think Worgen will fix the problem? And if they do not, will free faction changes ever be a possibility in the future on battlegroups or servers with a major problem?
JABrack: We are working on some technology to further combine the PVP queues at server sites. This has been going on behind the scenes for a few weeks now in preparation for Cataclysm. Queue time is one of those things that gets a lot of attention and time, but will change significantly post Cata. Really good question.
IanG: What would you say was the hardest and/or easiest parts of developing this expansion? After all, many are saying this is the best expansion to date... So, what was the biggest challenge/easiest feat in creating it?
JABrack: There have been huge challanges with this expansion, unlike any we've seen in the other two expansions. The scale of Cataclym is huge for us, and something we didn't really expect when we started development. But we certainly feel like the effort has been worth it, and feel it's our best expansion so far.
Guest-202: Why does it seem the scorpion guild mount doesn't have a guild flag where the lion does? I was hoping to see Hordes of scorpions from our guild walking around with our tabard hanging from the tail like a flag behind them. ~ Sorenji of khaz modan
TomChil: When riding a scorpion mount, your character displays holding a large standard with your guild symbol on it.
Guest-127: Why did you decide to make 310% mount speed purchasable in 4.0? It's a huge price for such a tiny speed upgrade, and used to work well as a just-above-vanity perk for people who completed the toughest achievements.
JABrack: The primary reason was to equalize the awesome vanity mounts players had, and change the mechanic to one where you used the mount you were most excited about using. We wanted players to be able to see the mount players want, without considering the speed differential as a factor.
Guest-411: Will you allow players to change their login screen? I'd love to be able to use the Classic login screen, the unreleased one that was shown at Blizzcon, or perhaps a login screen of a previous expansion.
JABrack: Players are not able to change their login screen.
barretrifle: How would a person get a Guild Mount? Would it be guild rep? If so how would that be calculated or obtained?
TomChil: Once your guild gets to a high enough level and unlocks the guild mount, any player in the guild with a high enough guild reputation is able to buy the mount.
gandclynn: Will heirloom items work for goblins and worgens leveling from 1-80 at release?
JABrack: Heirloom items will work perfectly for Worgen and Goblin characters! Enjoy!

Guest-124: Has there been any discussion of changing the heirloom items to true "Bind on Account" instead of the bind on server limitation that it has currently?.
JABrack: That is something we would like to do. Currently the servers mail carriers refuse to work together, and haven't worked out the economic terms from transferring mail from one server to another. One day we hope to resolve the union issues.

Wikehaja: Will the option ever be available to change ones class, contingent upon what's currently available to the race restrictions at the time?
TomChil: Never say never, but we don't currently have plans to do that.
Guest-451: There's any through about making account wise achievement, like starcraft ones? It a reason for many players to not reroll/change mains since its look like a lot of work wasted when you switch your main char. Even changing to another char to help with one fight look a bit wrong now, if you are after achievements.
JABrack: We do have plans to solve this problem, as it is limiting people from re-rolling for sure. This is something we want to solve, but don't have a good solution on how to do it at the moment.

TomChil: Well... there is the dance studio. ;] There are of course always things we'd hoped to get into any patch/expansion that get pushed out until later. One example would be the idea to have a built-in atlas that details every encounter in each dungeon/raid. We're not super happy about the fact that the first time anyone encounters a new boss, the only way to learn about it (other than looking up strategies on the web) is to charge in and die a lot.
We'd love to give players some idea of what they're about to fight before they engage the boss. =]
ZeroG56: Do honor points and Badges roll over into CATA, or do they reset to zero?
TomChil: Yes, honor points and justice points carry over into cataclysm. Stock up now!
Spyykke: Is there any talks of maybe some faction cooperative campaigns? Since the cataclysm is threatening to destroy all life of azeroth, to me a logical response from the heroes of azeroth would be to set aside their differences and be able to work together in a raid. An Idea to maybe lessen the frequency of such groups is make the raid difficulty increase by choosing to work with the other faction, a sort of Heroic mode. Possibly even dual faction specific raids. Has there been any talks of such poss...
JABrack: This is a common request, but not something we are looking to do. While there is a singular main bad guy in this expansion, the Horde and Alliance have their own unique challenges and agendas, and typically don't look to team up. After all it's the World of Warcraft, not the World of Peacecraft.
Guest-87: When designing expansions and content patches, do you have a list of new features to choose from that are planned out in advance or is there more of a brain storm session?
TomChil: The feature set for each patch is determined by a combination of doing things (or finishing things) that we've been wanting to do for a while, along with completely new ideas that emerge as a result of the immediate needs of the game
JABrack: The primary things you won't be able to do if you don't have Cataclysm are create a new Goblin/Worgen, level to 85, and fly in the orld world.
TomChil: We like to stay as flexible as possible, so it's important to us to make sure that we aren't "over planned" into the future even though the real needs players have are changing
SirHaakon: With the previous two expansions, the new content was actually on other continents, so if you didn't have the expansion, you just couldn't visit the continent. Since Cata is largely reworking of old-world content, however, how do you differentiate between someone with or without the xpac? What kinds of things will and won't be available to players don't have the upgrade?
JABrack: See my answer above!
Guest-16: Will the 80 to 85 experience be closer to the 18hr mark or the 5 day mark that was 70-80?
TomChil: That totally depends on the player to be honest, you'd be amazed by the differences in play patterns. That being said, somebody usually finds a way to level up very quickly.

TomChil: I would have to say the 1-60 revamp, it's a ton of fun to play through the zones and an incredible amount of new content.
JABrack: I'm most happy with the new Worgen and Goblin starting experiences. I think they are the best starting experience we've ever done, and that includes the death knight.

Guest-908: Question i have is why not have this latest expansion as a new territory like a Southrend similar to Northrend or a Moon body like Outlands instead of destroying Azeroth and Kalimdor? Were there limitations to expanding outwards or was this just to facelift the original game?
TomChil: We make decisions like this on a case by case basis.. again depending on the needs of the game. In the case of Cataclysm, the world was due in for an overhaul, and we wanted to make everything fly-able, so it was important to flesh out any areas that were originally unfinished.
Guest-441: Can you clarify and confirm what will be available to players when 4.0.3a hits and what will be unavailable until 7th Dec?
JABrack: 4.0.3a will be the patch that actually causes the world to shatter and change forever. At that point you will be able to experience the new 1-60 leveling experience, as well as the new race/class combinations. Very exciting!
milesd21: Is there an alternative mount for worgens that other races can ride
TomChil: Worgen can ride the other mounts in the game, if that's what you're asking. They're not limited to their feral run.
mikewho3: With the level 1-80 Heirloom items, when Cataclysm is released will the xp gain work while leveling until you hit level 81? Or will XP gain be disabled for those on release?
JABrack: They will not. Heirlooms stop granting their XP bonus at level 80. Not level 80.9999999.
gandclynn: Will achievment points ever be able to be used to purchase any perks?
JABrack: We have no plans to allow this. Achievements are a badge of honor only.

Where is a list of Sequence Assets (files)?

I was looking at my friend's CS4 Premiere, and couldn't for the life of me find a window that listed the assets of a sequence. You seemingly had to zoom into a timeline and peer at what was placed in it.
This can't be, right? Anyone know how to call up a list of clips and titles for a sequence?

I guess I don't understand that need. That's what project management and organization is all about.
One option you could use, if your project gets bloated with a lot of unused materials, is to use the Project > Remove Unused command. Premiere will remove all footage items from the project that are not being referenced by any sequences within the project. Note that this will not remove the materials from your hard drive; it simply removes the clip references from your bins. If you actually want to purge materials from the hard drive, check out the Project Manager (Project > Project Manager). You can specify options with this tool that will allow you to pare down a project and its related media.

Best Way to Add Narration for PPro Project on MacBook?

Hi Everyone,
I am a newbie here with a question about the best strategy for recording narration in an Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 project. I will be using a microphone to record an elderly relative who will be narrating silent family films which I had converted to DV format.
My constraint is that I will be using a MacBook (not a Pro) and so it is rather underpowered for running Adobe Premiere Pro. But, such is life. Anyway, I see two possible ways to do it:
1. Render the entire 2 hour sequence so as to allow for the smoothest playback. Then, with an enlarged preview window, watch the footage through Premiere Pro while using it to record the audio. The problem I foresee is that my lowly 2gb RAM may not be able to handle it.
OR,
2. Export the entire 2 hour sequence as an mpeg file. Use quicktime or some other reliable player to display the video while using Audition or Soundbooth to record the narration. This route would be less processor intensive but I worry about syncing the audio up later, especially if we take in breaks in recording the narration. Some of the old footage is fast moving so timing is semi-important.
What do the more experienced on here think?

Can I Change Photo/File Date In Photoshop Elements 2?

Whenever I change the batteries in my digital camera I have to reset the time and date.
Often I don't have time (or just forget) with the result that all the pictures have incorrect times and dates on them.
This is NOT destroying my life but it is irritating and inconvenient.
Is there a way of altering the "Date Created" without altering the photo by copying it etc. (which alters its file size)?
For that matter is it possible to alter the "Date Created" on any computer file?
I'm sure a hacker could delve deep into the heart of the Mac and do it but I am looking for something quick and simple.

You can use PhotoInfo to change the dates on a single or batch of photos. You can even do it within iPhoto by selecting PhotoInfo as the editor to use when you double click on a photo. But iPhoto won't recognize the changes unless it's exported and reimported. You can use PhotoInfo to batch check/change your photos before importing into iPhoto.
What I've done is to export the full sized images to a folder on the desktop, named the folder the same as the roll they were in, run Photoinfo on the batch and then drag the folder into the open iPhoto. Then delete the original roll. Works fine.

File Complexity/Size Maintenance; Paths vs Compund Objects

I have found myself using different methods to make designs, but I was wondering what was the best practice for archiving FINISHED products.
In terms of anchor and path complexity: would it be best to save files as paths with width controls, or should I be outlining strokes and flattening as compound objects?
If it turns out that the results would vary with every project, then I can accept saving two versions and deleting whichever happens to be the bigger file.

Well now, no need to drag my beliefs into this, but if you must know...
My understanding is that progress should be reduced to it's simplest form at regular intervals. The extraction of modular devices (commonly used symbols, purposefully arranged actions, etc.) from previous projects is what drives "development". I have no intention of destroying my work. Just making sure that snapshots exist in case my memory/workspace fails me.
That said, let's pretend I have a client with a portable device of limited capabilities, and I have to keep the poor things CPU from lagging by giving it less instructions when redrawing the vector graphics. Then let's throw in a time limit that only gives time for a few adjustments:
How will I ever prepare this file?
