Premiere making choppy video, when splitting an AVI

Just purchased Premiere 13, using it to edit AVI's, once I cut the video to remove a segment it makes the remaining video very CHOPPY and unusable. Had another user edit the same video with Premiere 7 and it worked fine.
Please help, or REFUND me for this product as it is unusable for us.
Thank you in Advance,
Michael Winslow

If the link does not hold its set, then you will need to navigate to the Chat Panel using the above titles as guides.

If you want to troubleshoot your Premiere Elements 13 issue here, we would be glad for the opportunity to be of assistance.
1. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running?
2. What kind of .avi file are you using - .avi is just a container/wrapper format represented by that .avi file extension. It can
wrapper a variety of video compression/audio compression?
3. Before or after (when you see choppy video for remaining) is there an orange line over this choppy video that you are viewing or
no colored line?
Please review and consider. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thanks.

  • Slow FPS, graphics and choppy video when connected to a Mini-DVI cable to external monitor on Macbook Mid2007 4GB RAM

    Hi,
I have a Mid-2007 Macbook white. I have upgraded its memory to 4GB. Snow Leopard was working great, and I said to myself maybe it's time to upgrade to Lion.
After the upgrade all was well. However, a big problem occurs when I plug in to the Mini-DVI display port with the HDMI adapter, to connect to my Sony LCD HDTV. The whole graphics and video slow down, everything is choppy. Quicktime and VLC video playback is strobe and choppy looks like very low Frame Rate. Cannot watch anything, not HD nor low resolutions. The entire computer is slow when the cable is connected.
    Things I tried:
*VGA adapter seems to work fine - it's the digital display output that probably causes that.
*Running it through a new user.
This never happened on Snow Leopard. i'm considering to go back. However, I am wondering if there is a way to fix this minor problem.

    Update:
We solved the problem. Weird solution but now it seems to work. I plugged a VGA adpater and played with the screen rsolutions to try and watch a movie well on my LCD screen. I changed the screen resolutions but I couldn't revert back to the default settings. Pressing "Detect Displays" didn't do anything.
Here is the interesting part: When I placed back the DVI-HDMI adapter, suddenly everything worked fine!!! There was no choppy videos, no low fps, works prefect.
Something weird is going on here, but I'm happy I managed to get the DVI to HDMI to work because I was about to removie Lion and bring back Snow Leopard.

  • Adobe Captivate Outputting/Rendering Slow, Sluggish, and Choppy Video when ScreenCasting

When I screencast my desktop and then output/render the video that Adobe Captivate recorded, the video is always so choppy, sluggish, and slow.
I set the frames per second to 80 and interval to 1, 5, and 10, and still choppy video.
My system specfications are as follows:
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
    CPU: Intel Core i7 @ 3.40 GHz | Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
    RAM: 16.0 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6600 Series
Is there something that I am doing wrong during/after I record?
    Any help would be awesome!
    Thank you!

    Hey Anjaneai,
I mean slow as in my Cursor movements are not as smooth as I expected with this software.
I have chosen the Video Demo recording mode.
I did check the option to show "Actions in Real Time" from Recording and it only applies to Audio. I am speaking of video. I have tried comparing. I tried comparing with Software Demo, but it's impossible to compare, seeing as Adobe Captivate generates the mouse for you.
I thought that the higher the Frame Rates the smoother the experience.
    Thank you!

  • Choppy video when editing

I am new to video editing. I have a Canon VIXIA HF100 and had no problems importing my video files from my camera to my computer using Adobe Premiere Elements 7. The problem is when I play the videos, they are really choppy. The audio is ok, but the video really stutters. It makes it very difficult to edit (if not impossible). Is my computer not fast enough? I have the following:
    CPU:
         Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775
    MB:
         Asus P5W DH Deluxe Wifi-AP 975X P4/Celeron 1066FSB LGA775 DDR2 ATX Motherboard w/Audio, Dual Gigabit LAN, RAID/Serial ATA
    RAM:
         CORSAIR XMS2 3GB (3 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
    Video:
         BFG Tech GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB 384-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16
    HDD:
         Western Digital WD1500AD Raptor X
    OS:
         XP Pro
I have played around with the settings, but nothing works. When I burn the videos to DVD, it plays fine. I would just like to be able to edit them. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

what does rendering do? Does it decrease the quality of the video in any way?
Rendering provides a file that PE can play as well as is possible. Rendering does not affect your footage in any way. It is used for preview only. [In PrPro, these can be used in Export, but I do not believe that PE does so.] Now, a preview is just that - an emulation. The visual quality (not really playback, but how it appears) can be improved, if one choses 100% in the Monitor View setting from Fit.
Should I render first, then burn a DVD, or just burn the DVD? I want the highest quality DVD I can make.
Unless I am wrong, PE will not use the Render files to cut down on the Export time. Also note that even in PrPro, the total time for Export is about equal to the separate Render + Export. For the ultimate quality, you'll want to Burn HD material to BD, and not to DVD. DVD-Video will be MPEG-2 compressed to the DVD-Video spec. It will be as good as it gets. The only way to get better would be to do a BD Project to Burn to DVD, but player compatibility might be an issue. Duration of the footage certainly will be. Now, one other possibility would be to Export to an HD Preset to produce the file, say .MOV w/ H.264 CODEC and then Burn that to a DVD-Data. One would be limited by file size vs disc space, and also have to use a software HD player on a computer to play the file.
In general, the best is to down-rez to SD and Burn to DVD-Video, or to Burn to BD at the higher-rez. For play on appropriate set-top players with insurance of compatibility, those will be the best.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Choppy video when streaming from web-site

I have tried to stream video from the site http://portevergladeswebcam.com/ (this is for watching cruise ships and other maritime traffic and the site claims to be "High Definition Video").  If anyone wants to look at this site, do it in the daytime!  When viewing the web-site over a home WiFi network, with a fully updated Playbook, the motion of the moving vessels is smooth for a few minutes, but then it becomes choppy.  The vessels "jerk" along.  I have test the Playbook simultaneously with a Motorola Xoom, connected to the same WiFi network, and the Xoom motion is smooth all of the time.  Can someone tell me whether this shows a limitation of the Playbook, or is there something I might be able to do to fix it.
    Thank you

Yes, I know this will work but I want to know why it is choppy when playing from the CD. I have never seen this behavior with any other computer. Is there something wrong with the optical drive? Do I need to tweak some setting? Thanks.

The development on perian has ended. It works just fine under 10.8.1 and earlier.
The preceding VLC link is a sound video player choice too.

  • Choppy video when viewing downloaded podcast

I have downloaded podcasts from Oprah's book club - Discussions with Eckhart Tolle. They seemed to download okay, but when I click on them to play on the computer they are very choppy. I upgraded my iTunes and Quicktime, but it did not make any difference.

This Podcast has been mentioned before in these forums, check here - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8889115&#8889115 but I'm afraid it's not good news. There's also this post, http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8864142&#8864142 which may be a bit more help.

  • When I import .avi files I only get audio, no video!

When I add .avi files recorded with my Flip Video camera to the clip gallery and view, I only get audio, no video. The same happens when I try to play the clip with Quicktime. Help!

    Update to first post.
The Flip Video camcorder records or "captures" video in MPEG-4 advanced simple profile format, saved as an AVI file.
MPEG-4 advanced simple profile format = usually DivX
1.) With Mpeg streamclip you should be able to convert your AVI(Divx) files to a DV format for iMovie. To open DivX files, you have to install one of the free Divx Pro codecs on your system.
    MPEG Streamclip 1.8
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
DivX Pro Codec 6.6 (6-month trial)
    http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
2.) Visual Hub $24 should be able to convert WMV and AVI (compressed with the DivX Codec)to a DV format for iMovie.
    http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/
3.) With Flip4Mac WMV Player Pro $29 you can convert your WMV files for iMovie.
    http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm
4.) With Perian 0.5 and Quicktime Pro $30 you should be able to convert your AVI/DivX files to a DV format for iMovie.

I hope one of these solutions work for you.

  • Choppy (freezing, studdering) mp4 video when streaming on FMS

    Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding choppy video output from FMS on our streaming project which is running on FMS 4.5 and FMS 5.
Problems show up when we stream previously recorded mp4 files. The playback is choppy, it works for 2-3 seconds, and then stops for 1 second or so.
Of course, the same file works when played in FMS or in some other media player, only streaming is problematic.
We have multiple FMS installations (development / production) and the issue is consistent on all installations.
I have tried to watch the stream using:
    - our custom player,
    - Wowza media player available at http://www.wowza.com/resources/3.5.0/examples/LiveVideoStreaming/FlashRTMPPlayer/player.ht ml,
    - ffplay
And the issues are consistent in all three players.
    Mladen

What do you mean by playing fine with FMS but streaming is problematic? Do you mean you play it fine when directly downloading it from FMS but streaming it from FMS is a problem?

  • Choppy Video on MEGA 180

    Hi all,
I'm suffering from choppy video playback on my MEGA 180. By choopy I mean every ten seconds or so it will freeze up for a split second, the audio stays in sync, but you can slightly tell that the video stops, or skips.
This happens when watching .avi, DivX or even commercial DVD's. It also happens on my screen saver.
Since I was using the onboard video I thought I'd try using a video card but the same thing.
What I can't figure out is what the onboard video and a seperate video card have in common, since it's happening to both.
My onboard video has the latest drivers, and the PC as a whole is up to date.
    Any suggestions are greatly needed.
    Thanks.

can you give more information on the hardware you have installed in your Mega 180?
and can you give more background information; ie how long have you had this system, has it ever worked correctly, did the problem start after you installed any particular software, etc etc...

  • Audio not in synch with video when mov files played in QT 7.6

When I play .mov files stored in an iPhoto 08 photo library, the audio is not in synch with the video. People's lips move and the audio comes out a second or so later. This is a relatively new problem, and I don't have the same problem when I play .avi files. A couple weeks ago, the audio and video were good and they were synchronized. The video in the .mov files is also choppy. The video plays for a few seconds, briefly pauses, and then starts again.
    Appreciate any suggestions.

I'm not sure this is the issue. The video files were never in iMovie. Only imported into the iPhoto libaray from my Kodak M1033 camera. A few weeks ago, I did not have an issue with .mov files playing smoothly. Perhaps there was a recent update to QT?
When I upload the .mov clips to Flickr (www.flickr.com) or YouTube, they play just fine, so I'm not sure what the issue is.

  • Premiere Elements 9  Videos Rookie Here So Speak English please?

New computer 8 GB ram, 64 bits, Windows 7, I figured out how to make videos and I had some help but I can't find the answer to this problem? Has to be a better way? I could spend my life researching this topic and not come across the written material for the answer? I spend $1500 just for this computer to use this program and I am still having problems with it only when I add text. I spent 50 hours on creating a video didn't freeze up once. Then at the end I added in all the written paragraphs of text immediately it started freezing up and kicking me out of the program. Help remember I am a rookie so keep the instructions simple please?

    Thanks Bill,
The text is now working with your short instruction and no more freezing up whoppeeee !! Do you why my microphone won't work under narration? Window opens but it appears not to be active because its grayed out and you can't use the controls? The mircophone works other wise on my system for sure?
I will explore what you just sent me thanks again!

Now is probably a good time to discuss Titles, and Instances of Titles.
When one creates a Title, it appears in the Project Panel. When it appears on, or is dragged to the Timeline, one has an Instance of that Title. One can have any number of Instances of that Title. All are linked back to the Title in the Project Panel. That means that if one changes any Instance of that Title, or the Title in the Project Panel, those changes will affect EVERY Instance of that Title. That can be very useful, but can also be confusing, when first encountered.
As an example, say that you have created a Title, that says "Meanwhole Back at the Ranch," sort of like the old silent Western movies. You place that Title between dozens of Clips on the Timeline, but then notice the mis-spelling. Just correct one of the Instances, or the Title in the Project Panel, and ALL Instances will reflect the change from Meanwhole," to "Meanwhile." So far, so good.
BUT, if one wants a different Title, but one based on that "Meanwhile Back at the Ranch," they would NOT edit one of the Instances, or the Title in the Project Panel, as that would change ALL Instances. Instead, go to that Title in the Project Panel, and Rt-click on it, then choose Duplicate. That will create a Copy of that Title, with the word "Copy" postpended to it. Then edit THAT Title, as needed, and those changes will NOT affect any Instances of the original Title. Note: you can Rt-click on the Copied/Duplicated Title, and choose Rename, to make finding it, and identifying it easier. Initially, upon Duplication, it will appear highlighted in the Project Panel, but if you need to easily find it later on, Renaming it should make that task easier. When done making changes to that Duplicate Title, just drag it to the Timeline to create an Instance of it.
Good luck, and hope that helps, plus saves confusion, when you go to alter but one Instance of a Title, without affecting all other Instances.
