Premiere MPEG2 encode frame swapping bug

We film and edit live shows ranging from 1 hour to 3 hours in length, recorded on DVCAM and digitised to DV widescreen preset. Final edits are encoded to Mpeg 2 DVD.
We are experiencing a bug across all 6 edit suites where a random frame from somewhere in a production is inserted further on in the
timeline, causing a quick flash/strobe. This occurs only in the encoded file and is not visible in the original sequence. Encoding
in Premiere, Encore or Media Encoder has the same results. Proof can be supplied if required.
This is a SERIOUS problem, especially as we may not be able to spot it before shipping the final DVD (in large numbers)
All systems are kept up to date with the latest updates but the bug has persisted since purchase.
We are using Adobe CS5 Production Premium, Windows 7 64 with NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800

I'm just finishing up a 3 1/2 hour film transfer job that is on 3 DVD's. I normally go Firewire out to my set top DVD recorder and have never had to watch every frame of the DVD to make sure that everything was ok. Same with videotape transfers. Were talking 100's of hours of footage here on a monthly basis. I do fast forward through the each DVD and check the chapter points but I would be out of business if I had to watch every film reel and videotape after it is transferred to DVD in real time to check for problems. Actually, since I edit all film transfers using Premiere every frame is checked during the editing process. I shouldn't have to do that again when making a DVD in Encore.
So, as a result of this problem with random frames popping up using Encore, I now have to export a DV AVi file out of Premiere use a competitors $50 consumer video editing software just to do an MPEG-2 transcode then import that MPEG-2 file back into Encore and add about 70 chapter points manually instead of the chapters automatically importing in from a Premiere sequence. Not what I call an efficient workflow anymore.

Every time I try to export with the standalone MPEG2 format option in Premiere Pro CS4 the file comes out empty (0 bytes) and both Windows Media Player 11 and Adobe Encore 4.0.1 say that my machine lacks the necessary codec to play the file (although, I'm thinking that this message is popping up really just because the file is empty/corrupted. I'm running on Vista SP1). Nevertheless, if I export to the MPEG2 Blu-Ray format with not too dissimilar values, everything works fine. The MPEG2 DVD format also works, granted that's lower bitrate and resolution. So, what gives? Could it have something to do with the audio?
My source files are NTSC 29.97fps HDV 1080i .mpeg files, captured from DV tape.
Here are the settings I'm using with the regular MPEG2 encoding (which fails as mentioned):
NTSC, 1440x1080i, 29.97fps, 18.50 max Mbps, 48kHz MPEG audio, which gives me a final file extension of .mpg
And the settings for the MPEG2 Blu-Ray encoding (which works perfectly):
NTSC, 1440x1080i, 29.97fps, 30.00 max Mbps, 48kHZ PCM audio, which gives me a final file extension of .m2v with a separate .wav audio file
Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Did I just completely miss the boat on some well known MPEG2 audio encoding issue or something?
Oh, and my system is Core 2 Duo 3.33 Ghz 4 gigs of ram gigantic harddrive, etc. I'm fairly certain this isn't a hardware issue. The source files playback without hesitation and the rendering time is not overly long.

Since the destination is DVD, don't waste the time or resources to encode at HDV frame sizes. It will just have to be encoded again so that it will fit the standard def DVD frame size. Re-transcoding will significantly reduce final quality.
NTSC DVD:
720x480 with a PAR of 0.9
29.97 fps
"Best Practices" would dictate elementary (separate) video and audio streams (.m2v and .wav). Avoid multiplexed .mpg files.
"Easiest Practices" would dictate exporting from Premiere as an .avi file and letting Encore handle the transcoding automatically.

Progressive Mpeg2 Encoding

Hello. We are trying to create a 24fps (or 23.98?) progressive scan Mpeg2 encode from a 29.97 DVCAM source tape. The material on the tape is film-originated. I noticed in FCP there is a checkbox for "remove advanced pulldown/and or duplicate frames from firewire sources" Is this how we do this? What other settings need to be changed? Do we need a 24 or 23.98 FCP sequence to encode from after we capture the film?

Yes, if you're not already, you'll need a 23.98 fps sequence - not 24 fps - as your start point in FCP.
You mention that your DVCam material originated on film. If you captured correctly - all clips start on a AA frame - you should be able to use Cinema Tools to conform your material to 23.98. The exact method depends on where you're at in the post-production stage (still capturing? editing?).
Also, the Advance Pulldown removal option is meant for video-cameras (like the Panasonic DVX100) that shoot with 2:3:2:3 pulldown, while most of every post house I've come across telecines film originated material to tape at 2:3:3:2 pulldown. So the Advanced Pulldown removal function won't work correctly.

generally i think the compression offered in FCE isn't that great. For years people have been playing movies off VCD's - sure not quite DVD quality, but you can get it pretty close if you just put one hour or so onto a VCD.

I ended up using mpeg1 format as this seemed more platform freindly - even though their are a couple of negatives - I couldn't figure out how to make these Mpeg1 files be rewound or fastforwarded in quicktime.
But - 3 minute video - 25megs in mpeg 1 and this was VCRish quality (640X352 - full frame rate - the odd artifact - but ok)'
For a full frame rate and full resolution version (576X768) - pal 16:9 it was 100megs in size. Not too much difference to native DV format- although you can tell it's not perfect - but it still looks better than the mp2's that are created in iDVD. just my opinion

I have been working on a video for awhile now and I've recently noticed that my .flv export format has been removed from my choice of encoders. I export from Poser Pro Game Dev to Png Image Sequence. I organise a cam angle in After Effects...I re render out to a png image sequence.. continuing to hold quality. Then when a scene is done; I use Premiere to export a 1080 by 720 wmv format 29.97. But now I can't encode from Premere, Media Encoder, or Affter Effects. Please ...Any help would be much appreciated.

How do you get Premiere Pro CS4 frames into Photoshop

Hi I am trying to modify a series of Premiere Pro Frames by coloring a small section of them in Photoshop 7. How do I pull those frames out of my timeline, get them into Photoshop, and then back into my timeline? I remember doing it with Premiere 6.5, but I can't figure out how to do it with CS4.

24p to 29.97i in Premiere, Media Encoder or After Effects?

Sorry to bring up a much discussed topic, but as I looked on the web and in the Adobe forums I got sort of lost in the tangle of discussion about how to best take a 24p sequence in Premiere and convert it to 29.97i for broadcast. I feel like this is something that Premiere might be able to do? Or maybe Adobe Media Encoder? I generally see from other forums and posts that this is done in After Effects, an app I have never even opened. So if the answer is that I need to use AE, then I'm hoping for some detailed guidance or perhaps a tutorial video? Though as I say that I know that certainly sounds rather demanding
Any comments or assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I have Photoshop Elements 6 and am dealing with the GIF frame delay bug. Must I upgrade?

I am dealing with the Photoshop Elements 6 GIF animation frame delay bug. I understand there has not been a fix for some time so I want to know if one has been developed. If not what do I have to do to address this. Can I get an upgrade? What steps do I have to take and who do I deal with at Adobe for this?

The gif delay problem persisted for many versions of PSE. You can buy PSE 12, but it's silly to buy it from adobe since their upgrade price is more than the street price for the full version at big box stores and online resellers.
If your question is will adobe give you a free upgrade because of this bug, then the answer is no.

Premiere/Media Encoder can't render/export after 10.9.3 update. Any Answers?

My computer ran the OSX 10.9.3 update a couple nights ago, and suddenly Premiere/Media Encoder can not export. It just freezes up the computer until I cold crash it. Same if I try to render a timeline in Premiere. This issue just started yesterday. It still persists after wiping my hard drive and doing a clean install of everything, which of course just put 10.9.3 back on there. This issue does not exist on my laptop that has not been updated yet. However, I have enough work and not enough time to be trying to edit everything on my laptop while this get worked out. Has anyone else got this issue in the past day or two?

I had two active projects that suddenly could not render/export. One is quite massive and has RG Colorista quite a bit throughout it, however I could not export a timeline without any plugins on it. The other project is also clean of plugins. Then I started a new project and it went out just fine until I put the RG plugin on it. But here is my newest glitch. I just made a change to an old show and all of my titles done in Title Tool were resized and positioned. Blown up and shifted to the right. If I take the same file and put it on my laptop which still has not got 10.9.3, they are just fine. Scaled properly and centered between title safe. But now on 10.9.3 they are blown up and going off the screen.

Premiere & Media Encoder show Quicktime presents but fail on encode

My Premiere & Media Encoder CS6 both show Quicktime presents but fail each time I try to encode directly to Quicktime with .mp4 codec.
Quicktime is installed on my machine, which runs Windows. I'm using Adobe Creative Cloud CS6.
Goal: to use the Quicktime format and sucessfully encode video sequences as .mp4 files at various settings.

BUMP! To this thread as I am still having an issue encoding QuickTime files. Below is a quick recap with some new information.
All testing is done on a system running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 with Adobe Media Encoder CS6, CC, and CC 2014 (same results across all versions).
The failure occurs after a few seconds of attempted rendering, with only the following message from AME:
"Encoding Failed
Export Error
Error compiling movie. Unknown error."
Important note: This problem DOES NOT exist on a similar system running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. So it would appear the problem may be OS specific to Windows 7 Professional (although there are a few forum threads with people experiencing the problem on Macs as well).
That said, here's what happens on the Win7 Pro system:
QuickTime movie encoding fails at 1920x1080 both from a dynamically linked Premiere timeline and from a rendered file.
TESTS:
1) H264 video with AAC audio FAILED
2) H264 video with uncompressed audio FAILED
3) Uncompressed video with AAC audio FAILED
4) Sorenson video with uncompressed audio FAILED
5) Uncompressed 10bit YUV .mov with uncompressed audio WORKED!!!!!
Of course, a :30 second television commercial rendered this way is near 5GB and is not the way most broadcast stations want a file delivered.
To sum up: all of the HD presets and custom settings for QuckTime with any sort of compression, fail to render on systems running Windows 7 Professional.

Third Party MPEG2 encoder - Suggestions

So I recently upgraded to a new MacBook Pro. Everything's great except that the version of DVDSP 3 that I have won't work with it and neither will the version of Compressor that came along with it. (I upgraded from a G4 iMac.)
Can anyone suggest a good third party MPEG2 encoder? My budget is $100 - $200 (or less if possible). I just don't have enough control with the iDVD encoder (even with the new iLife '08). I'm not looking for anything real fancy, just something that will let me have a bit more control over the bitrate, etc . . . And, if it can handle DVD markers from FCE3.5 even better.

Thanks for your question. I didn't try because from what I've read on the forums DVDSP 3, the version that I have, is NOT universal. Not only that, it won't work with Intel Macs under Rosetta. Check the following URL for more information:

"Pro applications from Apple — including Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Aperture, Logic Pro, Logic Express, Shake and Final Cut Express — are not supported by Rosetta. For most applications, you can upgrade to the Universal version for minimal cost (see “Apple Applications” to right)."
Does this sound correct to you? I'd love to keep DVDSP and Compressor, but it doesn't look possible. Are you using them with your Intel set up?

Encore.Prelude.After Effects.Premiere.Media Encoder CS6 立ち上がらない

Encore、Prelude、After Effects、Premiere、Media Encoder　CS6 が立ち上がりません。
PCのOSはこの通りです。
Dreamweaver、Flash、Illustrator、Photoshop、Fireworks、Auditionは立ち上がります。
普通に使えます。
立ち上がらないソフトは、起動しようとアイコンをクリックして、モニタ中央に起動している最中のグラフィックスが
現れると、そのままの状態になってしまいます。
（応答なし）になるので、毎回強制終了しています。
今まで１年以上普通に使ってきて突然こうなりました。
原因が分かりません。
こちらで行った解決策は以下の通りです

アンインストーラーを使用して、アンインストールし、そのごすべてのアプリを戻しましたが
アンインストール以前と同じ状態です。

macOS再インストール
ローカルのデータをすべて削除して再びインストールしました
しかし、同じくたちあがるソフトとそうではないソフトがあります
どこに問題があるのか、わからない状態で困っています。
なにとぞご回答よろしくおねがいいたします。

再度の再インストールが必要になりますが、Cleaner Toolを使ってみては如何でしょうか。

QuickTime MPEG2 Encoding Cause Kernel Panic

Does anyone know why I would suddenly be getting kernel panics when encoding to MPEG2 using the QT MPEG2 Encoder.
I has been exporting using QT Conversion to MPEG2 form FCP for Months, but now I am getting kernel panics and program crashes everytime I attempt to export.
Any suggestions would be great.

Are you still using QuickTime version 6 or have you moved up to version 7?
Double check the version number (Get Info window) of the MPEG-2 Playback Component. It should be 6.4.
The MPEG-2 exports should now be handled using Compressor.

Frame Swap in Netweaver

Hi All,
I have question related to swpping monitored using ST02.
I read about "Frame Swaps" and found note 121808 (Swaps in program buffer although space is free) pertaining to the same.
The note speaks of parameter "abap/buffersize_part1" which leads to the term "Frames swapped".
It also says that the parameter does not have any effect as of Release 4.5A.
I would like to know the relevance of the "Frames Swapped" in performance tunning of Netweaver 700 systems.
As also how is the loading of large programs taken care or implemented in 700 systems?

I do agree with your analysis of note but my query is not specific to the note.
The "Framed Swaps" entry still comes in 700 system while doing inidividual buffer analysis in ST02 along with "Object Swaps".
I am presuming that there has to be some use in 700 system else SAP wouldnt have kept the record for "Framed Swaps".

The Latest Premiere and Encoder update enlarged everything

Hi everyone,
I just updated my Premiere Pro (8.2.0.65)and Encoder CC (8.2.0.54),
and for some reason the display both softwares got bigger.
It begins with the opening screen of the software (attached) which is unproportionally big.
More than that, all of the fonts and in-software display in bigger and extremely inconvenient.
I have looked after this problem and did not find any references of this problem.
Anyone?

Every time I've try to export from Premiere Media Encoder gives me this error message that says: Installation error - please ensure this product have been installed properly.
I can't find a way to only reinstall media encoder from CC
It was working fine before the last Premeire update.
