Premiere Multiple Multicam Interview Workflow?

I have just finished shooting 10 interviews, with 3 cameras each. The interviews will be the main components in 2 seperate pieces with differing lengths and slant.
I want to be able to assemble my footage in the smartest way in order to edit efficiently.
Do I figure out which clips I want, cut them out into their own individual timelines then multicam that as best I can and reassemble the footage into the main piece?
Will I then still be able to make signifiant changes to the multicamed pieces if they've been moved to another timeline?
I had considered taking the A camera footage, editing that to where I want it for spoken content, then dropping in the other camera clips (also edited like the A footage) and multicaming from there.
One huge problem I wrestle with is that I am only editing and my producers could decide to make major changes both in content and mood based on the amount of milk in their coffee each morning. So, of course, I want as much flexibility as possible.
I feel like I'm asking for the moon. But I guess if I could just get an idea of how people normally assemble their multicam projects that would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.
Also, should I be color correcting beforehand or when all the footage is together on a final timeline and I can see it all compared to one another?

Do your multicam editing first on the whole clips.  You can always pick and chose from that the parts you want to keep.
Do your audio sweetening.
Do your color correcting last.

  • Storing Multiple Values in Workflow Attribute

    Hi,
I got the requirement where i want to store multiple values into Workflow Attribute. Is there any way to accomplish this.
    Thanks
    J

    Hi,
Do you mean multiple different values in the same attribute at the same time?
If not, then yes - this is standard functionality. Just use the appropriate API to set the new value whenever it changes.
If yes, then possibly, but that would be exceptionally bad design. If you want to store different concurrent values in the same attribute, then the only type this would work for would be a text attribute, and you would need to include a delimiter between the values so that they can be stored. Then, whenever you need one of the values, you need to split the attribute according to the position of the delimiters.
I have no idea when you would have a requirement to store multiple values in the same attribute at the same time - as I said, it is exceptionally bad design, so I'm going to hope that you just mean to hold different values at different times.
If you meant you want to store multiple values into multiple attributes at the same time, then there are also APIs that can be used to accomplish that. I would not recommend using them, as it makes it harder in the long term to maintain and support the application - having multiple calls is no slower, but makes the code easier to read and understand.

  • PREMIERE CS6 multicam view has a glitch!!!

It seems PREMIERE CS6 multicam view has a glitch!!! It wont let you manully (not while in playing mode) scroll through frame by frame and switch from camera to camera and update your nested timeline with edit cuts!! It will only make edit cuts while the play button is engaged! Which means you have to be perfect with your cuts while the footage plays back! Can someone fix this please?!!

Under "Adjust multi-camera edits in a Timeline panel," your bullet says, "Place the current-time indicator at the place in a Timeline where you want to replace a clip from one camera with a clip from another. In the Multi-Camera Monitor, select the replacing camera preview."  No one would possibly read the word "select" and assume that means pressing the Ctrl-key combination.
BTW, you can replace the shot by just selecting the camera preview. Select, does mean "clicking on" in this context. I moved this sentence to "Switch to a camera angle," to avoid confusion. "Adjust multi-camera edits in a Timeline panel," contains information only when manipulating clips in the Timeline, not the Multi-Camera Monitor (combined with the Timeline). I adjusted that text, as well.
I hope this page is clearer for all: http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/premiere-pro/using/editing-mult i-camera-sequences1.html
Thanks, Kevin; the new section called "Cut to a camera angle" is basically the clarifying information that we needed, expanding everyone's understanding of the new Ctrl-key combination requirement to include not only the numbered keystrokes, but also clicking on the source in the Multi-Camera Monitor (when working from the Timeline, for example).
However, the section entitled "Change a camera angle" that immediately precedes it is not only redundant, but inaccurate, as it continues to leave out the Ctrl-key combination requirement when clicking on the new camera angle to effectuate an edit (and the sub-note about recording doesn't help).
I really think you should literally try these things out, following your own draft instructions, before posting them.  You'll see...

  • What is the documetary interview workflow for Story/Premiere CS5.5?

I've looked in vain for the answer to this question, which I'm sure is thoroughly documented SOMEWHERE - I just can't find it.  The few things I HAVE found online including at Lynda.com or other paid services involve CS5, which has a different workflow that involves OnLocation; this changed in CS5.5 but I don't see any on-point articles that incorporate the changes.
We've been using Premiere CS5.5 since its release but have never worked with dialogue metadata.  At the moment we're working on a documentary with a number of lengthy interviews.  In each case the interview subject is talking to an off-camera producer.  Accurate transcriptions of the raw interviews have been prepared.  Only the interview subject's ANSWERS are transcribed; the producer's questions are not (and are also barely audible on the soundtrack).  So, typically, the producer will ask a question and then the subject will give an answer that could be ten seconds or a minute.  Then another question, then another answer, all in the one clip.
So what I am looking for is a step-by-step workflow (for someone who has never so much as TOUCHED Adobe Story before) for importing the transcripts into the raw footage and then ultimately having Premiere match the transcript up with the spoken audio, and then maximizing the usefulness of this with the newly annotated clips as source footage.  Realizing that the interview answers are separated by barely-audible producer's questions, I assume that one challenge will be to let the software know that it should only be paying attention to the answers, and lining the text up appropriately, and not getting confused by the questions.  Perhaps the answers need to be subclipped?
If there's a tutorial on this subject I would very much appreciate being pointed to it.  If not, if someone could do a step-by-step (beginning with an empty Premiere CS5.5 project and nothing in Story) I'm sure there must be a number of other folks in my position who would benefit from it.
As a product suggestion: for documentary applications it seems to me that it would be much better to be able to cut and paste text directly from a text editor into Premiere and then let it fit it to the audio instead of going through Story.  While I understand it was even more cumbersome prior to CS5.5, I don't think interviews in a documentary need most of what Story offers (unless I'm missing something), so it seems like an unnecessary complication that could be eliminated.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Peter

Well, I tried following your steps, and I'm going wrong somewhere.
I created the film script and four scenes (one for each of four clips), giving the speaker's name as a character name (it's actually the same character in a continuous interview broken into several five-to-ten minute clips).  I let Story number the scenes (1 through 4, as expected).  I then exported an .astx file.
Within Premiere, I located the four clips and in the Scene column numbered them 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively.
When I right-click on one of the clips, select "attach script file," and point to the exported .astx file, I get the following error message: "Failed to attach script file to the following clip: \MyProjectName.prproj\FolderNameWIthinProject\00019.mts [Matching scene number not found]" (of course I have replaced the path and folder names in this example with generic names since the actual names reveal my client company's name).
Opening and inspecting the .astx file in a text editor I confirm that it does in fact contain scene numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively, for the numbered scenes.  Likewise I confirm the numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively, in the Scene number column for the four relevant clips.
Any idea what the problem is?

  • Premiere CC Multicam Project Freezing

Recently started encountering errors with Premiere freezing after adding multicam sequences to the project. For a couple hours it was working great, and being very responsive (working the way it should). Then out of nowhere it froze on me, and the playhead would not respond, of course then "not-responding" popped up and was only able to close by force quitting in the windows task manager.
For trouble shooting I then did the following things
    - restarted system
    - open other projects without multicam and verified they worked normally
    - checked for updated graphics drivers
    - ran windows disk check on the drive the media is on, even though other projects on the same drive work fine
    - tried to work on other parts of the project where no multicam was. This had the project being super laggy and not playing footage until minutes after pressing play, then of course freezing after a couple more minutes.
    - Opening Premier while pressing alt
Premiere Pro CC version 7.2.2 (33)
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
    Intel i7 X990 @ 3.47GHz
    24GB RAM
    PNY Quadro 4000 GPU
If I need to add any other info please advise and thanks for any input.

No it was not. Thanks though
I did find what caused the problem. I put the stock Multiband Compressor plug-in onto the master audio track in the sequence containing all the raw video. This way no matter what part of the multicam nest I was cutting from (they are interviews) the plug-in would be applied globally. I guess Premiere does not like this one bit. So now I have to do it the long way and go clip to clip though the whole project.
Does anyone know if there is another workaround for this? I am going to submit the issue as well in hopes for a bug fix.
    Thanks

  • How to store Multiple Attachments in Workflow.

    Hello All,
I am doing an scenario, in that i need to store multiple attachments in the workflow container.
Kindly help me, how to store and also, how to retrieve those attachments form worklfow.
    I am using custom workflow.
    Thanks in advance......

    Hi Jubish/Venkat
    1. I iterated this fucntion moudule to store the multiple attachments to the workflow
       SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD
    2. Call this FM to get the attachemnts form the workflow (pass workitem Item id which is used for storing the attchments).  SAP_WAPI_GET_ATTACHMENTS
from above you will get objkey for each attachment as output in table.
    3. Pass the  objkey to this FM to get the contents
SO_DOCUMENT_READ_API1'. this will retrun the content of the attachment either in object_content,   contents_hex.
    4. Pass the Obtained content to SCMS_BINARY_TO_XSTRING to get the disired format.

  • Bridge/Prelude/Premiere/Encore, Arrrgh! Workflow/Asset Managment overload! Help.

I've been viewing a tutorial series in addition to some random one's on the web, mostly covering functionality, but what isn't clear to me (yet) has to do with asset management and workflow. I know enough to understand that these two areas are the most important aspects of the whole process; without organized asset management and an orderly, systematized, hierarchical approach to accomplishing tasks the creative side of things will suffer dramatically at the worst time.
Regarding asset management, I have three separate drives for for audio, video, and stills. All the files reside in their original locations except for video files that I originally had stored on my stills drive. These video files were copied to my video drive into the Adobe Folder> Premiere Projects Folder> Project Name Folder. In addition, I have a folder on the video drive called "Raw Footage" that I'm using for random footage unrelated to any project; sort of a personal stock footage resource.
As a practice project for the tutorial series I'm using assets from a 45 day Rail Pass tour I took a few years ago. Assets include SDDV. m2ts, and mov, files with different sample rates, in addition to jpg and psd files.
Where would the following programs come into play and at what point in the workflow does the transition from one to the other begin and/or overlap?
    Bridge
    Prelude
    Premiere
    Encore
Where does Bridge come into play and when?
There are folders with m2ts files on my stills drive that I've copied and pasted to my video drive. Should I have used Prelude to ingest and "Transfer Clips To Destination" ("destination" being my video drive)? Should I have transcoded to a less resource hungry format and, if so, does Prelude create an EDL that can be used to conform the final edit replacing the low rex clips files the the original higher rez files?
I know I have to capture SDDV as DV (not HDV) with Premiere but what else do I need to know about such capture? As far as actual editing goes the tutorials are covering a lot of that.
Eventually I'll use Encore to author a proper DVD that is compatible with every DVD or Blu-ray player. Right?
I guess the question could be, "What is yout multi asset workflow?"
I feel like such a noob.
    Thanks.

    Michael,
I thought that might be the case. Sigh!
Well, as far as I can tell, if I were you, I would offer it with an alI I-Frame option first. That would probably be the easiest to implement cleanly. Those who can shoot that way would probably start shooting that way. Me included.
Then, take the AVCHD from a few of the most popular cameras, Canon, Nikon and of course, the Panasonic DMC-GH3 (my camera) and whatever video cameras are popular right now. Back up to the beginning of the long GOP and finish at the end of the long GOP. There is no need to get too specific with frames for subclips. After all, anyone who does not leave handles on their subclips while ingesting gets what they deserve anyway. In fact, there should be an option to always add one second of handles to every subclip. Personally I would leave that on as a default.
As for me, I recently posted a few videos using different codecs for people to download to test them. The links can be found in this forum post along with a short discussion: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1239519?tstart=0
I usually use 50Mb/s 60p using the MOV format, but if I was to shoot anything serious, I would probably shoot 72Mb/s 24p. Keep in mind, that if Adobe made it possible to ingest subclips without transcoding,I would change what I shot to all I-Frame for almost everything, either at 30p or 24p. And if you did it for my 60fps MOV files, I would be ecstatic.
I don't shoot AVCHD but I suppose that so many people do that the moment you gave the feature to all I-Frame shooters, there would be a huge clamor for AVCHD.
In my opinion, this could be a major game changer and everyone who could would start using Prelude without a second thought. Like photographers are flocking to Lightroom 5, this would be the videographers Lightroom. Reelroom? Naw. Prelude is a good enough name.

  • Forawrding to multiple sapusers from workflow

    Hi
I have a situation where I have to forward a same mail to differnt sap users to there inbox I have their userid's which I will get dynamically but I have to trigger them through sap work flow. I think I cannot use that sap send mail option in workflow to forward mail to multiple user id. please suggest me any alternative.
Thanks in advance for the help
    Regards,
    Krishna Mukthineni

I think you can use Multiline container element that is of type WFSYST-Agent and you store multiple user Id concatenated with US in front. Use this container element as an expression in the send mail step.

  • Blackmagic mini monitor/Premiere CC Multicam

    Hi,
I am using premiere CC with a multicam project. I've used premiere before on smaller projects and tried the new CC with a bigger project. Nine Cameras all ex3. loved the fact that I didnt have to transcode but now I am regretting it.
So I am using a blackmagic mini monitor which is fine in composite mode. But when I switch to multicamera mode the monitor freaks out and loses sync/picture and if I switch back to the composite mode it finds itself again. to tell you the truth I found cs6 far more stable than CC. Why can't I get multicam playback on the black magic card? tested the same situation in Final Cut and it was fine so its not the card. Is there something I need to click/turn on or off or something to get playback?
It also freaks out and if i double click the multicam sequence to see the sequence in the source monitor.

I haven't seen or heard yet of this issue. I can output from the Multi-Camera monitor without issue from my Decklink HD Extreme 3D and Decklink 4K. I'll try to test on my UltraStudio 3D as well.
When you say the 'monitor freaks out' what does it do exactly?
Can you provide your system specs and also your monitor model number. Lastly can you include your frame rate and resolution of your media.
    Thanks!

  • Send mail to multiple recepients and multiple groups from workflow

    Hi,
I have a requirement where during the process flow, I have to send mail notifications to multiple people at each step. Have done the outlook config and working fine. Also mail steps are working fine for one recepient. But I have to send relevant mail content to multiple people and to multiple groups like HR, IT security etc. What would be the best approach for this req?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Raj.

    Hello,
If I understand you correctly, you have two options:
Option 1 (if you must send to an external e-mail address):
1- identify all recipients in a previous step and retrieve their e-mail addresses from the system
2- collect all e-mail addresses in an internal table you define in the workflow template container (you can use table type BCSY_SMTPA)
3- in the e-mail step, choose Recipient type as U (E-mail Address)
4- in the e-mail address field, click F4 and you will see the e-mail address internal table you defined in step 2 above; use that variable
Option 2 (if you can send to SAP inbox):
1- identify all recipients in a previous step and retrieve the agent types and IDs (structure SWHACTOR)
2- collect all agents into an internal table (you can use table type TSWHACTOR)
3- in the e-mail step, choose Recipient type as G (Organizational Object)
4- in the drop-down box, keep the value as "Expression"
5- use F4 help to insert the internal table defined in step 2 as the expression value
    Hope this helps you.
