Premiere Pro 1.5 UpGrade

I still use Pro 1.5 for very specific quick keyboard functions that are not available in CS.
I installed a new HD today and learned Pro 1.5 is no longer activating online (or at all) and we have to download Pro 2.0.
The problem is I'm unable to uninstall the Pro 1.5 I just installed today.
The Control Panel is taking me to Adobe Setup and .. well that's the story. The simple Win7 unintall function will not work.
The guy in India can't help so I'm stuck.
I guess I can reformat the HD and start all over.
I get that 1.5 is ancient but for one job I do it's works the fasest.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help.
Here's the error code:
Error 1331. Source file not found:
Looking for a Data1.cab
Any suggestions before I wipe the drive?
The guy suggested I download the file again from Adobe. What do you think?
Not sure about CS6 but the Ctrl+Shift+S function in title windows does not work as a SAVE AS feature in CS5.5
So.. I like to open up an existing title window, make a few changes and SAVE AS.
From what I discovered with CS5.5 and long ago posted here (much I can't remember) the "new" SAVE feature is better in CS5.5, but for me, when I do a specific job, the SAVE AS... then RENAME - SAVE works best.

    Since installing Premiere Pro CC 2014 upgrade, Mac Pro jumpy video and freezes constantly. Worked perfectly before. Anyone else finding these issues? I'm running a quad core Mac Pro, so it's definitely not the hardware.

    I've maxed out the memory assignment, but this isn't a memory problem per se.
    It looks like certain Premiere Pro conditions are associated with a huge increase in kernel_task memory, zeroing out any available free memory.  In my case it seems to be associated with effects applied to titles or jpgs  or imported psd (Photoshop) files.
    Program restart pulls kernel memory back to the 1.3gb normal size.

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 Upgrade is Downloaded and Installed, but 5.0 Isn't Updating

    Hi there. I may be missing something very simple here, but here goes: I already have Premiere Pro CS5 on my system, and I just purchased, downloaded and installed the 5.5 upgrade a little while ago, but CS5 isn't upgrading. It's still opening as Version 5.0.3.
    It didn't ask me for my serial number at installation, which made me think it found what it was upgrading, and I've tried restarting, but to no avail.
    Any help is much appreciated. Am I missing a step?
    Thanks!
    Stephen

    Hi,
    Premiere pro CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5.5 are installed as seperate programs.
    So Premiere Pro cs5.5 might have installed as a seperate program.
    Check the all program list for the same.
    If you face issues, just contact adobe technical support.

  • Problem opening Premiere Pro project after upgrades to 4.1.0 and Shockwave

    I cannot open my project. During this project which has many CS4 AfterEffect pieces and with the Premiere Pro 4.1.0 upgrade and with the installation of the Shockware and updating the Flash Player to 10.0., I am no longer able to open my project!! I have been working on my problem for a many days/weeks - talked to Tech Spt twice - and followed instructions - the KB408983 - and when they told me to uninstall my QuickTime and install the new Quicktime, this caused other problems later with Aftereffects for some reason...recreated the Plug-ins, but nothing worked - maybe all this created more problems.  When I finally found files in the AutoSave folders, they all opened last week but now, they are in the same situation - cannot open any of them now!!!  I finally found one file in the TEMP folder and was able to open it and tested each file which I had imported initially - then found one file that may have corrupted during this Update procedures - so I removed it and inserted another AAE file - but now, none will work after I initiated the KB408983 steps!!!   So now, I no longer have any files that I can open.
    Problem:  Premiere Pro opens my project - goes thru the process of loading but gets stuck about 3/4 length - it will sit there forever, without any error message!!!  I left it for 2 1/2 hours and it just hung in there.  So, I believe now that with all these updates and changes to the Adobe products, I may have corrupted some of the AfterEffects files or maybe other files? I have worked extensively on this project and need desparately to open it so I can finish it!!
    Last month, I had similar problems and Tech Spt asked me to uninstall CS4 Premium Production software and reinstall it.  During the uninstall process, it wiped out my CD Rom driver so I was unable to Re-install my CS4 software - finally found out how to fix the CD Rom corruption in my Register and was able to reload and it worked at that time but now, I cannot open it.  So, all this has been a nightmare.....!!
    Does anyone have any solution?????
    Thank you!
    Jean

    It sounds like your app isn't activated anymore.  When it's in that state, the MPEG codec options aren't available, and unfortunately the RED presets
    use the MPEG codec for preview rendering (at least on HD sized presets).  So the upshot is that when the MPEG codec isn't available, the RED presets
    fail to load.
    Reactivating your serial number should fix the problem.  Or if it doesn't, you'll need to sort out with tech support why your MPEG isn't coming back online.  (You're probably looking at more reinstallation fun unfortunately )

  • Premiere Pro CS4 - Post Upgrade 4.2

    So i'm having some major problems trying to open premiere
    after the 4.2 upgrade.  It loads then freezes just before
    the saved project screen comes up, and I cannot do nothing.
    I have to force shut down (ctrl,alt,del) in order to get out.

    Ok i found the problem.  What I did was
    open a project instead
    of the main, main frame.  When I did this
    I was able to grab my screen and move it over
    to the left again.  I appreciate everyone's help.  I understand Harm's point
    but this was pretty hard to describe. So i just posted in here hoping someone
    else had the same problem before. Thanks again!!!

  • Premiere Pro 1.5 won't initialize

    I am trying to run Premiere Pro 1.5 upgrade (I previously installed Adobe Premiere 5.1). I have a 32-bit, Windows XP system. I opted to activate my product later (for some reason couldn't activate online, yes my copy is legitamite, I have the original disc, case, box, and two books) I also have a Realtek HD Audio soundcard.
    PROBLEM:  Upon application startup (the small screen with the horse, serial number and my name), the phrase "initializing application..." remains on the screen indefinitely. The program never starts up. I've tried to restart many times, but to no avail.
    I also have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the original and the upgrade, but it still does not work. I've also updated my Realtek audio driver to the latest version. Adobe customer service of course refused to help me since this is such an old version. No, I do not have $1,000 to spend on CS anything. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

    You do not need to instal the older version.
    Disable your audio card and see if that will help.

  • Premiere Pro CS3  (Version 3.0) will not start following upgrade to Windows 8-- rest of CS3 is fine

    Recently upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Pro;
    next time I tried to open Premiere Pro 3.0 (Adobe Master Collection CS3), splash screen scrolled normally through files being loaded until "SolidComposite.AEX", where it white-screened & crashed.
    Tried removing that file, it crashed on the next ".AEX" file; removed all ".AEX" files, it began crashing on ".dll" files;
    kept removing THEM, just for the heck of it, until the software loader couldn't even start.
    I popped in the CS3 disc to repair the installation-- on the entire suite, for good measure;
    re-booted & started Premiere-- crashed at the exact same point.
    Uninstalled and then re-installed Premiere-- the entire suite in fact, since there are so many common processes;
    couple of hours later, re-booted & started Premiere-- same exact thing at the same exact point.
    I found this same problem in at least a half-dozen threads, going back to '07--
    and several of them even mentioned the same exact file as the trigger for the crash!
    Unfortunately, not one of those threads has ever ended with an accurate diagnosis of the problem,
    nor a solution more insightful than reinstalling both the CS & the OS.
    I don't want to abandon Windows 8...
    but on the other hand, I just can't afford to pony up another grand to upgrade the CS Suite again, either...
    Besides: CS3 is everything I need, and it has worked wo well for so long--
    even now, Premiere Pro is the only software in the suite with a problem!!
    (I used Photoshop to create the above screencap)
    So I'm hoping against hope that one of you techno-gurus may have come across this ITRW--
    and actually SOLVED IT!!

    Thanks for your prompt reply, John-- and for NOT simply advising me to spend my kid's tuition on more of your company's products...
    Actually, I had tried the "Run as Administrator" option already, having found it in one of those other threads;
    there was no change in the sequence described above.
    I decided to try another possible solution which I read about in one of those other threads: opening Premiere from a different account.
    Incredibly, it WORKED-- sort of...
    I got a couple of popups advising me that missing codecs had to be installed-- and upon completion, Premiere opened!
    Here's an interesting note: the last file to load was still "SolidComposite.AEX"-- and the "White Screen" I kept seeing was Premiere opening normally.  The next thing that displayed was the normal  dialog box "Open/New Project"-- I entered a new project name, and Premiere started normally. I even added a few video files as a test... all opened normally.
    I returned to the Admin account to see if the fix was in here, too;
    but clearly the war wasn't over, over here...
    It now appears that some personal setting in the Admin account is causing Premiere to close itself;
    I've been reading about the layered security measures embedded into Windows 8-- I'm suspecting the conflict lies there...
    I ran the Windows Troubleshooter & got this:
    both MS & Adobe confirm that CS3 is fully compatible--here's my sytem info:
    Since I seem to have established a fall-back position that lets me use Premiere, my crisis becomes a mere conundrum;
    but I know this is gonna gnaw at me anyway, & I'm hoping that this new information might suggest further troubleshooting options to someone who understands the Adobe software and/or the Windows software better than I do!
    Speaking as someone who has found many solutions on forums like this over the years, I assure you:
    for every person whose post you reply to, there are many more whom you will never know you have helped!!!

  • Upgrade Premiere Pro CS5.5 on PC to CS6 on MAC? Use both at same time?

    Can I upgrade from my Premiere Pro CS5.5 on my PC Laptop to CS6 on my new MAC machine?  If so, will I still be able to use my CS5.5 on my PC at the same time as using CS6 on my MAC?
    I'd be grateful for your advice and, if this is possible, how to proceed.
    Many thanks,
    Andrew Kent

    The original poster was not on the Creative Cloud subscription.
    What a mess.
    I think what Baber is saying is Adobe considers an "Upgrade" purchase from a prior license as an entirely new separate license. That allows you to run the old version license on a different platform from the new "Upgrade" license.
    So if you need to run both platforms (Windows and Mac) your options are:
    Cloud subscription
    Purchase a whole new second license to be able to run the current version on both platforms (what we did)
    Wait for an point version update and upgrade going to the other platform. That allows you to run on both Windows and Mac, but one version back on one of the platforms but at a greatly reduced price until the next point upgrade.
    Seems pretty convoluted and obtuse. But ..."It is what it is."

  • After upgrading to Premiere Pro CC 2014, I can't change the render preview location

    Ever since I downloaded Premiere Pro CC 2014, I cannot re-route my render preview files. I have two internal hard drives and I need the files to go to my secondary one. With CC, it did this just fine, but since I've upgraded to 2014, it will not do it. I've set it the same way I did before in Preferences/Media, then set the Media Cache Files and Media Cache Database to the new hard drive.  It's eating all my hard drive space and I cannot render or export a large sequence. Is there a trick to this I'm missing that has changed?

    Thanks Neil! I'm actually wondering how to change where the preview files go. I've attached two screen grabs. Right now my media cache is going to my SATA drive (my smaller of my two internal hard drives and the drive where Premiere Pro is located.) I want to re-route my render files to go to my Macintosh HD drive which is much larger and gives me more breathing room. I could do that before but since I've upgraded to 2014, even though I have it set in preferences, it STILL goes to my SATA drive. So annoying! I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if it's a bug. I'm still running Mountain Lion (getting ready to finally upgrade, I've just been needing to backup my computer), could this be the reason? Any ideas? Thanks so much for the help!

  • Upgrading Premiere Pro CC to Premiere Pro CC 2014 in the middle of a project

    Hi guys!
    I was working through a project with Premiere pro CC until I checked my creative cloud app and realised there was an update for the software, Premiere Pro CC 2014. I thought great, I'll download it straight away.
    It's a great bit of software and it does seem to be faster, however, whenever I play a sequence everything is fine and working as expected except the sequence monitor, which constantly freezes while trying to edit. Quitting the application and re-opening it is my only real solution so far as it's fine once I do this for a good couple of minutes until the sequence monitor freezes again
    I was wondering whether I could get any help with this problem? I am using Yosemite as my OS and I have read up on many issues that have come about with adobe applications since the launch of Apple's new OS update. Someone recommended going back to the older version of Premiere Pro CC, but I've done a serious amount of work on the newer version now so going back is out of the question really.
    I've spoken to quite a few people about the issue, like you do, and they are also a bit unclear of a solution. Some say its the graphics card. Some say I need to buy a new computer (I have an imac mid 2010 intel core i3). And most say to downgrade to mavericks again as adobe and Apple are still working on a solution for the near future.
    I was thinking of re-installing premiere pro cc 2014 altogether but I am a bit worried that work may go missing if I did?
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Tom

    There is this offer of a trial version FC Pro X with 30 day runtime:
    http://www.apple.com/final-cut-pro/trial/
    Too bad you didn't have a complete backup that could run the previous OS X
    and then you could resume using an earlier Final Cut Pro (10) or (7) since a
    clone would have been a means toward that position.
    http://www.apple.com/support/finalcutpro/
    http://www.apple.com/support/pro-apps/
    This appears to be another good reason to check out all the reasons why one
    would want or need to upgrade a working OS X version, since these kinds of
    events are known to happen as a direct result.
    Sorry to not have an answer to this, other than try & use the Trial version...
    Or see if someone at Apple sales/support can field your issue w/ an answer.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Should I upgrade? to - Mac OS 10.8 and / or Premiere Pro CS 6

    So I'm currently on Premiere Pro 5.5.2 and Mac OS 10.7.3
    The reason I have not upgraded to 10.8 is I have heard in the forums that there are problems, specifically with AVCHD and not being able to re-establish links once they are broken after import because of how Mac 10.8 works. Is this an insurmountable solution? If so that is quite disappointing, i think the problem was reported several months ago?
    And the reason I have not upgraded to Premiere Pro CS 6 is that
    1) There are no reports that it is any faster than 5.5.2 - just better GUI (though I'm ok with 5.5.2)
    2) I doesn't do well with spanned AVCHD clips (pretty much 80% of what I do)
    So any advice on either of these 'upgrades'? It has been a while (like months) for both of these issues.
    Thank you!

    5.5 isn't certified for 10.8, and the spanning bug is still there.  So it may be best to wait a bit.

  • Do I have to upgrade to Premiere pro 8.1 before I can upgrade to 8.2?

    Hey guys, I'm new here, so please forgive me if this question is stupid.
    I presently have Adobe Premiere Pro CC v8.0.1 installed. I know that there have been two upgrades to this version, viz. 8.1 and 8.2.
    My question is if I can safely download the offline updater to v8.2 and skip updating to v8.1 all together? Is it possible? And if I were to do this, would I be missing out on the features of  update v8.1?
    Thank you for your time and patience!

    Hi Somu cena,
    Welcome to Adobe forums.
    You can install the 8.2 update directly. Please check what's changed and fixed in both the updates from the below links.
