Premiere Pro 4.2.1 run error
I read another discussion a few pages ago where someone had problems setting up the Premiere CS4 update, 4.2.1, after downloading it. I'm having the same problem he had: it tells me to close Bridge before it runs the ap, but I don't even have Bridge open - nor any other programs. Someone suggested he try to run the application in Bridge itself, and it worked for him. But that isn't working for me. Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Well, that did it! Thanks, now I can edit!!! I'll try this approach again in the future. By the way, what is the best way to get rid of duplicate and/or unneeded files and/or extensions (not just Adobe) that are probably hanging around in my system? Space isn't a problem, and the computer is running like a top now. But I know that after so many downloads and upgrades and probably redundant files being piled on top of one another, there must be a lot of garbage in there that I don't need. I know that's usually just a Windows function along the lines of defragging (which I usually do about once a month...?), but I always hesitate to delete anything unless I'm sure it's worthless. If you know of a link that is helpful for emerging computer guys, I'd be grateful. And, thanks again.

Downloading Premiere Pro CC Gives Me an Error!
For some reason, I can't seem to download Premiere Pro CC. Two weeks ago, I installed it and it stopped at 42% and gave me an error, saying that another Adobe program was open, so I had to close that up. After closing that up, it worked perfectly well, and installed correctly. However, last week, when I tried opening Premiere Pro, it told me to uninstall and reinstall it because of a corrupt file or something. I tried uninstalling it, but it didn't work, so I just deleted the files in Program Files. After that, I tried reinstalling it three times, however it kept stopping at 42% and giving me an error, simply stating that it didn't install correctly with a (.34) after it. I can't click on the "More Information" button, and I've tried reinstalling Creative Cloud Desktop. I've been working on it for a week now, and I still can't get it to work. It keeps giving me that same error message. I've tried using CC Cleaner, but it gives me an error at the end of it, and I can't make left or right of the log. I've tried uninstalling CC Desktop, and then reinstalling it, but it still gives me the same error. Please help! I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit. I can't make heads or tails of this problem, and I would really like to use Premiere Pro again. Thanks!
Edit: Also, I uninstalled Creative Cloud Desktop, and tried reinstalling it for a third time, but this time, it had an error installing the program. This has never happened, please help me!Well, if evben the Cleaner doesn't work, you have a more serious problem on your system. From unsuitable security configuration to virus scanners and firewalls there could be a million things at play. Could also be permissions/ user privileges issues, but your info is to incomplete and vague. Check your system's event viewer for any warnings. Based on your description I tend to think you have an issue with teh Windows installer cache or the registry that prevents the install from ever finishing properly.

Premiere Pro (CC) has encountered an error. (Mac)
Darn, this is bad. I'm having flashbacks to Pr CS6.0.0. I keep getting this error, which leads to a crash:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
[/siree64/releases/2013.02/PremierePro/
Messanine/Make/Mac/../../Src/Utilities.cpp-780]
Pr CC has been working pretty well on older CS6 projects and new projects started in CC.
For the record, I'm a professional Premiere Pro power user; not a novice.
This recurring problem happens when I just click on audio or video certain clips in a timeline. I exported this project from FCP7 via XML and into Pr CC. All the sync clips are double system; video from a Canon transcoded to ProRes; audio files are .WAV from a Zoom recorder.
{Sidebar: I have an ongoing project in CC I started in CS6 with Canon H264 video, and Zoom audio. I'm not having the same problems.}
I exported this problem project to XML from Pr CC, opened it in Pr CS6, and I don't get the crashes when clicking on clips.
This is a new issue with PrCC, and apparently projects imported via XML.
I did all the usual maintanence: Trashed prefs, previews and Media Cache. Ran Disk Warrior. Problem persists.
Workaround is, once I locate a clip that causes the crash, use In and Out around the clip to lift it, then replace manually. Slow going. LOTS of crashing. Every few minutes. Once the media is replaced, the crashing stops. So, this rules out corrupt media. Besides, I ran Digital Rebellion's Corrupt Clip Finder, and all media on this project passes as not corrupted. I save about every minute now, so as not to lose too much work.
Silver lining: Pr CC launches about ten times faster than Pr CS6, so getting back to work after a crash is faster.
If anybody has a clue on how to stop this, please chime in.This report is from today. Hope it helps...

Premiere CS6 project manager reports an error and will not manage my project. I have tried several times with both "Create New Trimmed Project" and " Collect Files and Copy to New Location". I have also tried to manage the project with options checked and unchecked (Include Preview Files, Include Audio Conform Files, Rename Media Files to Match Clip Names). Every time I try to manage the project, the process takes a few hours and then gives an error asking me to try again.
The project is 90 minutes long and uses multiple footage formats:
Sony FS100
Sony NEX7
Sony NEX-5n
Canon C300
Canon 5DmkII
Panazonic HVX200
My computer is:
Processor 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
Memory 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
Is this a bug, or are there specific things I can do to troubleshoot the problem? I have read of issues with AVCHD. I have confirmed all of my AVCHD folders are intact. Any other Ideas?
THANKS!I have this same problem on a Mac with CS6. I was simple trying to archive a project using the "collect files" option. After five or six hours of troubleshooting (Thanks Adobe) I have narrowed it down to MXF clips that came over in a Final Cut EDL (Projects created in PP with MXF files seem to be fine). In other words, as I was transitioning from FCP to Premiere Pro, I sent four or five projects out of FCP as an EDL, opened them in PP and continued to edit. It seemed to work really well until I attempted to archive my media. If there was a single raw MXF file in the timeline (Not the project panel for some reason) the Project Manager would give me the standard error:"An unknown error occurred during the Project Manager operation. Please save your project and retry the operation.".
I have found two solutions that seem to work, both of which are a pain in the ax.
Option 1: Save the original project file only to an archive folder. Then delete all the old timelines from the project, and save the project with a new name. Create a new timeline and just drag all the raw video and audio into it. (Project Manager needs a timeline of some sort to archive) Then use the Project Manager to archive the modified project. If I need the project in the future, I'll need to open the original PP project and relink all the media from the archived "media only" project folder.
Unbelievably, if you were to take this route and then re-edit the project in the future, it looks like you would run up against the same archiving issue AGAIN next time (At least using CS6). You'd have to go through all the steps above to archive it a second time. Depending on the size of your project, you may want to take option 2 and get the pain over with once-and-for-all.
Option 2: If you only have a couple of MXF files in the timeline (in my case I had mostly renders from AE by the time I was done and THAT raw project had archived in AE just fine) you can export the raw MXF files to another format, then replace the media in your project panel. Finally, use the Project Manager to archive the project like you should have been able to in the first place if Adobe had written the code well in the first place! -
Trial premiere pro cs6 won't run anymore
Hello, I downloaded a trial for premiere pro cs6 yesterday and it worked great. But today, it wouldn't run anymore. I got the message that the program 'could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again'. I totaly didn't get it, but i restarted my laptop and then it worked. But an hour later, after closing the program, i wanted to open it again and i got the same message. This time, it didn't run after restarting.
Can someone please tell me what to do? How do i 'update my video display drivers'...? And how come i have to do this all of a sudden? I have a brand new laptop and i worked with premiere pro cs5 before.>How do i 'update my video display drivers'...?
You go to the vendor web site (nVidia or ATI or ???) and check updates for your brand/model

Hello,
I'm hoping I can start getting answers to some big issues I've been having running Premiere pro. I've had similar issues with CS6 but it seems like with CC and every recent update, the problem hasn't been resolved, its even worse.
The main issue I have is seeing the 'unknown error' message everytime I try to export a file. I'm working with RED footage. When I turn off the CUDA support, I can export without the error but my export time goes from a few minutes to sometimes hours in the render time!
I've looked through pages and pages of forums and there are so many people saying the same thing, with millions of opinions of what the problem is. Regardless, the only thing I tried that worked so far is turning off the CUDA support.
Now something I recently noticed, is that the difference isn't the GPU usage, I still show GPU being used at 500mb or 1gb out of the 2gb that it has (GTX 680)
The strange thing is without the mercury playback option, I'm seeing that disk usage and I/O go way down to kbs from a very high number. This would make sense why I'm seeing such huge changes in render times even though it still shows my 6 core CPU maxed out and ram over 40gb out of 64 that are installed.
Does anyone have a suggestion on what may be happening here? Its the only thing that has plagued my system using Premiere since day one and there seems to be no way around it..Best way to get a real answer is go to the Tweaker's Page, download the most recent PPBM benchmark test, and run it. It's a folder that has a resource monitoring/logging program and a PrPro project with files that is short but HEAVY in effects, both AE and PrPro, so it tests all parts of a system's capabilities from disc in/out to GPU capability/use to CPU, fsb, RAM, you name it ... and after sending that back in you get a complete report on where your computer did well and what the choke-points were.
Also ... over on the Hardware forum is the place where the techies amongst us hang ...

Premiere Pro stops rendering and gives error message when encounters "RGB Color Corrector"
Premiere Pro (and also Encore) stops rendering and gives error message when it encounters a clip containing the "RGB Color Corrector" in any clip. It will process clips without RGBCC, but will stop when it gets to one with RGBCC activavted. PP will render clips if other effects, such as "Fast Color Corrector", "Color Balance (HLS)", and "Three-Way Color Corrector" are selected. However, these do not have the capabilities that The other color correctors will not do what RGB color corrector does, so I need to have this working to finish a large product that is due to the client. Please help me..... I am not using the Creative Cloud version, and can't find either a download for the new update from 2013, or a phone number to talk to anyone.
Using a Win7 computer with 2.8 quad core processor, 24 gig of ram, Nvidia Quadro 5000 video card. Don't think I have any plugins. I looked at one a while back for cleaning up grainy video, but I am not sure I paid for that. Think I deleted it.
Incidentally, someone named Jim on another part of the forum mentioned that this problem has been fixed in the CC version of the program. I am using the non-CC version because I am 68 years old and only do seminars and documentation video. Don't need so many bells and whistles, and definitely don't need learning curves every few weeks. CS6.0.3 works fine for me. By the way, someone else said that maybe version 6.0.1 might work better and I should revert to that. Not sure if it is the version i have on the disk upgrade to 5.5 that I purchased in December.
As it stands now, I have 7.5 hours of a seminar that is ready to go out the door. If there is an upgrade I can get from Adobe, maybe you can tell me about it. If I have a setting incorrect in the video output format, maybe I can change that. So far it just happens with clips in my video that have RGB color correction.

Premiere Pro won't start, application error
The last time I used Premiere Pro it worked flawlessly. But all of a sudden when I launch either Premiere Pro or Media Encoder I get an Application failed to start error.
I reverted my machine to what it was the last time I used Premiere but still it crashes.
If I should reinstall Premiere, how do I proceed? It's not like I can do it through the Application Manager. A
ll I get there is "up to date", I don't get the install link anymore.
Any Ideas?
Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel I7 950
12G Ram
Asus GTX 460
Not wanting to wait I found out how to uninstal cloud apps. So I uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere Pro family. but still it will not launch.
Application failed to start correctly (0xc000007b)Well, I seem to be the only one to have this problem so far.
Like I said earlier, I tried to reinstal Premiere by first not forgetting to deactivate any application to reinitialize the adobe key, just in case. Then I uninstalled the Premiere Pro Family through the Windows control panel. Rebooted and reinstalled it through the Adobe Application Manager. But still, it didn't work. So I had to resort to a complete system restore. Luckily I had a recent backup.
I have Premiere working now! I guess we'll wait till it happens again to figure this one out.
The only thing I can see that caused the problem in the first place is that a file must have gotten corrupted at some point.
But why only Premiere? -

Export from premiere pro cs4 for youtube - new error message from youtube
I wonder if anyone has had a similar problem to me.
I am using CS4 on a windows 7 computer.
I have a number of films that I am in the proces of exprting for upload to youtube.
Since youtube has updated the design and function of it's upload window I am now getting a warning once the upload completes saying "The video that you uploaded may have audio/video sync issues. Please refer to this article for advice on how to correct this issue should it arise."
The link takes you to a page which gives you a range of settings. It suggest Quicktime as the preferred format with H.264 encoding.
But in Adobe media encoder cs4 if I select format: quicktime, there is no h264 option.
I have tried selecting Format: H264 and the apparently obvious Youtube widescreen HD format, but still get the warning. Our footage is all PAL so I normally change this from NTSC to PAL - but even if I do not make this change, I still get the warning.
I wondered if anyone else has discovered this, and if they have found a work around?
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
I am using:
adobe media encoder 4.2.0.006
adobe premiere pro 4.2.1
Finally, in terms of the warning, I do not generally notice sync issues, but occasionally I giet visual glitches once the film is uplaoded to youtube - the latest involved the whole bottom half of the screen being smudged, as though someone had smeared the image from the middle down to the bottom of the screen. It only lasted about half a second.
Thanks
PatchHi Jim, you are quite right... that is what it says.
It is just that when I export a movie using premiere pro, and upload it I get a warning message from youtube. I never like a warning, so I followed the link to the article hoping for a solution.
I assumed the article indicated youtube's preferred format, so thought 'great, I'll use that- but could not find them in Premiere Pro.
As you point out it does say it is for iMovie, Final Cut Pro or Quicktime (so my mistake).
As Ann suggests, as the film looks ok on youtube, I will just carry on using the youtube settings in Premiere Pro, and ignore the warning.
Thanks for the sugestions,
