Premiere Pro 6 - I can import DVAVIs but only 1st 8 minutes play in timeline

The DVAVI files are fine and can be played in Media Player just fine.  When I import them into a timeline in Premiere Pro 6 the first 8 minutes are fine.  Then the video freezes for the balance of the tape, and the audio is just a hum.  It does not happen with everything DVAVI file, but enough that it is driving me crazy.  I am using a Thinkpad with a solidstate drive.  The DVAVIs are created on a Sony MINIDV camcordder.  I have removed and reinstalled the program three times and am out of ideas.  Any advice will be much appreciated!!!

How did you get PPro 6 when it has not yet been released?
When you click Help and about, what version do you really have?
If you only have one hard drive, you are below minimum requirements

Premiere Pro CC crashes when importing media. Every time. Driving me crazy.
It crashes as soon as the Windows dialogue box comes up.
Does it in new projects and in a project I created and imported into just fine 2 days ago.
    Have rebooted.
Running Windows 8.1 on Samsung Series 5 ultrabook Intel i5 - not too sure what else to say about other settings:
I did have a problem the other day when Windows was crashing when browing a large folder of largish  images and video clips but it went away when I put images and videos in separate folders.

    Thanks for reply.
Point taken but I've been using it for over a year for simple edits (5 min films) in PPCC just fine. Can't even do what I could do the other night now.
Simple folder with a few jpegs and movies in it. In fact it just crashes before I even got to another folder.

  • Premiere Pro CC will not import .mov files

Having issues with Premiere Pro CC, I cannot import .MOV files created with my Canon 6D.
If I try to import the files, I get a very generic "File format not supported" error msg.
This is a new install of Premiere CC on a new computer. I was able to import them using Premiere Pro CC on the old computer.
Quicktime will play these files fine on my new computer.
Premiere Pro CS6 will import these files on the new computer.
Premiere Pro CC would open them fine on my old computer.
I'm not even sure where to start. Any help would be appreciated.
    Here are my system details:
    OSX 10.9.3
    new Mac Pro
    3Ghz 8-Core Xeon E5
    64 GB RAM
Files are on external G-Tech Thunderbolt drive.

That was I was thinking at first, but if Premiere CS6 (installed on the same computer) imports and plays them, they must be on the system, no?
I really do not want to transcode. I have an existing project that uses the videos and the project on the new system will not import them or re-link to the videos. Really trying to get away from having to re-create the project and re-edit.
    Thanks!

  • HELP! MacBook Pro cant recognise or burn DVDs but only CDs, and...

    Hi all
I noticed that there many of you have the same problem, but I really need some advice here, my MacBook Pro cant recognise or burn DVDs but only CDs, well actually occasionally it does recognise the DVDs then it burn but cannot write (on Toast), also in many other apps, like iDVD or DVDSP, it does run well on the first part of the burning but then failed at the end, with all kinda diff error msg. I have tried using many diff brands of disc too, inc verbatim.
So I borrowed my friends external DVD writer (actually a cheapy one with no brand), when I tried to burn using the external then an error msg comes up and says the writer cannot recognise the disc.
I dont wana get the MBP to repair but just wana get a external DVD writer to solve the problem, cos i need to use my computer and dont have a replacement mac, but now I am worry if the problem i now having is a system problem or just hardware, not sure if it is because the DVD writer i borrow is cheapy so it doesnt cope with mac, or just my MBP have system error that cant burn DVDs...
But my MBP can burn CDs so it is not a hardware problem? and if that is a system problem so even I buy a new DVD writer wont solve the problem?
btw, I have tried many solving methods like rewriting permission, reset PVRAM, etc
    PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS HELP

I'm having the same problem you are on my 2.4GHZ Core2Duo MBP running 10.5.2. It will sometimes recognize DVDs, sometimes not... it chuggs and clunks and then spits the disc out. If i re-insert it a view times it will show up on the desktop. I get failures from Toast as well as iDVD. If i keep trying i have been able to burn files onto a disc with the finder, but then the burner fails during the verification. If put the disc back in the contents appear to be correct (after a quick look). Burning CD-Rs seems to be working fine, that with the occasional DVD write seems to point away from the HW. I am trying with both Memorex DVD+RW and Verbatim DVD-Rs...
I have tried the command/option-PR reset combo with no luck.
    Any ideas?
    thanks,
    -graham

How can I register the iTunes without a credit card? No "None" can be selected but only different kinds of credit cards. Thanks!

Get an iTunes gift card & redeem that in iTunes using your existing Apple ID.
Then the option for none, regarding a credit card should appear.

I can download ok but when I try to Play movie I get error -42110, can anyone explain why and how to resolve? I have restarted my machine and all installations are up to date

From iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting - Apple Support :
    "Error 3001,"  "-42110," or "5103"
This alert is related to iTunes Store movie rentals and authorization issues.
Make sure you are using the most recent version of iTunes and QuickTime. They both can be downloaded free of charge.
If your iTunes is up to date, remove the SC Info folder.

  • Importing .mts AVCHD files into Premiere Pro CS5.5: can it be done?

Is it possible to import .mts files from a memory card into Premiere Pro? Whenever I try to, I get a message that reads "Codec not supported".
My camera is a Sony Alpha A55, and this worked perfectly well in Final Cut Pro X.

I am not using the Sony Alpha A55 which might use a different codec than my other Sony's (CX-550V and HX5V) BUT I am using PP on an iMac. For different reasons (one of which being that I already used this approach with FCE), I am converting my raw mts files into mov files using ClipWrap ($50, very fast, they have a trial version for download). This has many advantages:
    - the footage is UNTOUCHED. It is just put into a different container.
    - the mov files are WATCHABLE in the Finder (and everywhere else, including PP).
    - the mts files can be dragged and dropped (without bothering about the folder structure) directly into ClipWrap (or first on your HD if you want).
This being said, my experience is that even those files are too much for my (I thought) powerful iMac to scrub through once basic editing has started. So I resorted to transcoding to proxy mpeg2 intermediate files (so that I don't fill up my HD too quickly) and only before exporting my sequence, replace the proxy footage by the original (well converted) mov files. I am still working out the ideal workflow...
Try the ClipWrap demo to see if the codec is supported. If not, they are a very responsive company and will most likely update their software rapidly (for free).
    HTH.
PS: I paid for my software, so I am just a satisfied customer reporting on the product.

  • I have downloaded Premiere Pro CS6 on my work PC, but can't find it to open it anywhere. I can find other Creative Cloud programs I downloaded though.

I have a one-year Creative Cloud subscription on my Mac, and I recently opened it on my work PC as well (as customer support told me I could do). I downloaded Photoshop, Indesign, and Bridge, and have successfully used them all on this PC, but I can't find Premiere Pro CS6 to open it though. Wondering if it's a problem with the computer, or if it's something that can be fixed/how to fix it.

CS6 via the Cloud requires an extra step... did you do as described below?

  • Premiere Pro CS4 does not import EX1 files longer than 1 hour

I had to record a long speech and used a Sony XDCAM HD EX1 camera with a 32 Gb and a 16 Gb SXS cards. The speaker paused after 1h 26 min. I stopped the recording and waited until the green light that allows recording the segment came on. Later I recored smaller segments.
I copied all the recorded files to the PC hard disk ( Intel Quad Core 2.4 Ghz with 3.25 GB RAM with XP Proofessional SP3).
I used Sony Clip browser to watch the clips and all of them were perfect. Then I opened premiere Pro CS4 4.21 and I wanted to import this 27 GB file. In the media browser appeared only one mp4 file. All the short ones where imported normally but the big one freezed premiere and the only way to close premiere was with the windows task manager.
I checked again in the Sony XDCAM clip browser version 2.6 and you can see it perfectly. There was a detail, though: in the lower part of the preview window I saw 6 marks. When I checked the file in the disk, I found that the 27 Gb file was separated in 7 parts. Each of them was 3.51 Gb and the last one 2.5 Gb. That means that the file was cut in pieces that were less than 4Gb supposed max file lenght.
I tried many ways to import and no result. The I used the "export " of the sony clip browser. There is one choice that is "MXF for XDCAM HD". When I chose this item another panel appeared and showed a 1440 X 180 59.94i 25Mbps choice. I took it and after some time it created the 27 Gb file that I could import it normally with 4 audio tracks. But there is a drawback a "media concept" logo appeared to remeber to "buy" the program.
Anyhow, the question is: How can I import to Premiere CS4 a MP4 file created by a Sony EX1 HD camera whose lenght is more that 1 hour long ?
    Thanks
    Wolfgang

I think  is the contrary because the clip browser copies all the foleders needed. I got this opinion from another forum that copies into Final Cut:
"My workflow is to create a hard drive folder for the project, then use Clip Browser to import the clips from the card. I review the clips, labelling them, adding logging notes, setting the status and putting in essence marks as needed (the number of characters available for the essence mark description is fairly limited). I then open FCP, create and save a new project then call up XDCAM Transfer. I select the project folder and it will pull in all the clips. I then filter for OK status, occasionally create subclips then import. The clips come over to the bin, with their names and with the essence marks converted to markers. Obviously there are backups taken - I've not mentioned them."

  • Premiere Pro CC won't import ANY audio file, be it an mp3 or part of an mp4 video (or other formats)

Any audio or video file I drop in to premiere will almost immediately pop up with the window
    Audio Conforming Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
When I check the error/event log (little red X in the bottom corner) that window says:
"11/21/14 09:47:28  A disk error occurred while attempting to access the following files:
    \\ipsse01\home$\myusername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Media Cache Files\filename.mp3 44100.cfa"
(The actual file is on my desktop)
This happens with everything, even the stock audio files Windows comes with in the "Sample Music" folder, I tried those too to no avail.
I'm at a complete loss. I'm new to premiere pro but these are generic file formats so I don't think the issue is with the file. I haven't tried to reinstall because I'd have to go to our one network administrator/IT person (who also is the accountant for the company) so she can enter the admin user name/password in the pop up box, and she's often so busy. I'm trying to avoid bugging her if I don't need to (which unfortunately I tend to still have to do a lot)
    For reference I'm running Win7 Professional 64-bit, 8GB RAM, and an i7-4610M CPU @ 3.00 GHz.

Thanks for responding, but I work for a very small company and since I'm the only one who needs CC, I have the personal version installed.
Also this appears to be a blanket issue with all audio and video file formats, thus not likely a codec issue since the files I've tried so far should be covered by premiere's compatibility, the even play in windows media player with no issue.
Video itself plays fine, but any audio attached to a video, or just plain audio files will not import no matter what I try.
    Sorry my info didn't help.
    Two things to try.
Create a brand new project and test if you can import the problematic files.
If that does not work, change the name of the folder that contains your media files. Then try to import.
    Let us know what happens.
    Thanks,

  • Premiere Pro CC won't import XDCAM EX files from the Sony PMW200 or PMW150

I work for a company that recently upgraded to Premiere Pro CC from premiere Pro 6 after purchasing a Sony FS-7. This has worked great for viewing the files out of the FS-7, however I can no longer import the XDCAM EX files from our PMW200 camera that we had previously. CC just tells me they are unsupported or damaged.
These files open fine on CS6 on the same computer, but not CC.
Unfortunately we are in a transitional phase and we have projects that span across both the FS-7 and PMW200 and need to be able to edit with both the footage. Am I missing a driver or plug in for CC to help the software acknowledge this software?
    Thanks

    Hi Stephen,
Try singing out of Creative Cloud, restarting Premiere Pro, then sign back in: http://bit.ly/CC-sign-out

  • Premiere Pro CC (ver 7.0) boots but won't load media.

I'm running Premiere on a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.7.5, 2.4GHz Intel, with 6 GB RAM, and the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card. Premiere Pro CC will boot and shows some of the linked media but not all. When I attempt to link a clip to its media, the locator box launches and the program finds the media but then the wheel of death emerges and spins forever...I'm using a variety of footage including Pro Res files, VOB files, .mkv, .MTS, etc. I've trashed the preferences.

Thanks, Mark. Upgrading to 7.2.2 appears to have helped. I can now import and re-link without the program crashing. Some media remains as "pending" without coming on-line; this appears to be the one unresolved issue.
