Premiere pro (8.1) exporting to QuickTime: lost the created captions

In premiere pro (8.1) I made a movie, added V1 and audiotracks and on V2 created captions. It all shows well in the sequence. Exporting the sequence in the project, shows also everything good. BUT exporting it to QuickTime Player (7.6 6) I lose the Captions. In QuickTime I checked the box 'automatically show subtitles'. No subtitles are shown. I searched the Internet for answers. I hope some here has a good solution.

WORKING WITH PPRO
When you import the closed caption embedded file you created back in PPRO, are there closed captions in this file?
WORKING WITH QUICKTIME:
I know that QuickTime changed how and where you turn on closed captioning for QuickTime, depending on what OS you are in on MAC -- so see if this might help:
MAC 10.9.5
MAC 10.10:
Go to System Preferences–> Accessibility and scroll down to "Captions" and click on "Prefer Closed Captions and SDH”
There should be a small caption icon that looks like a text bubble on the bottom of the screen when videos are loaded, now has a third option besides "Off" and "Automatic". If the video being played has captioning embedded it may read something like "English CC"
Once that is selected, the captions should play properly

Can Premiere Pro CS4 import H.264 quicktimes?

If the QT's are pure H.264, and you have that installed, then there should not be an issue.
Some camera mfgrs., and others, like to tweak H.264, so there is no all encompassing answer.
If you are having issues with a QT file, that seems to be H.264, you might want to look closely at the full specs. in MediaInfo, just to be sure that all settings match what they should.
Where did these files come from? That might tell the tale.

  • Premiere Pro Crashing During Export

    Hi,
I am getting the "Premiere Pro encountered a serious error" message in the middle of an export - over and over. I have tried rendering at 1080p and at 720p. My export gets to around the 1:20 mark (in my 4 minute sequence) and crashes. I have looked at the clip that it's on during crash. Nothing seems to be amiss and I'm able to render those frames for preview in PP. I have Denoiser II and Looks applied to this clip. But, I have Denoiser applied to all of my clips and I have Looks applied to many of them. Every clip up to this point in the sequence renders, no problem.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Using Premiere Pro CS3 When exporting as flash file poor picture quality

I'm using Premiere Pro CS3. I shoot green screen in HDV and work in 1440 x 1080. I have been capturing files in Premiere and sending them to Serious Magic Ulta 2. I use this program for keying and adding virtual backgrounds. I save these files as avi. with a resolution of 1440 X 1080. I then bring them back into Premiere Pro for final edit. When I export these video's encoded as mpeg2 theyplay very clear. I am now trying to export as flv. with alpha channel background and the resolution is poor. I working on the transparent background with walk on spokespersons that overlay the HTML page. When In try to play them on my computer the adobe media player is what comes up. I have downloaded flash player but it doesn't select it to play the video. I'm running windows Vista Business platform. What am I doing wrong.

    Thanks for the reply.
The capture and editing have already been done in 1440 X 1080. Should I use this resolution rather than trying to bump it up to 1920 X 1080.
    Thanks

Computer playback generally prefers square pixels.  Make sure to set your output resolution to 1920 x 1080 using a Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) of 1.0 or Square.
    See if that helps.

  • How can I do to transfer all iTunes library from my Mac book Pro to Time capsule without to lost the alphabetic sequence of songs

How can I do to transfer all iTunes library from my Mac book Pro to Time capsule without to lost the alphabetic sequence of songs & artists? What is the correct way to transfer my 3000 songs to Time capsule, to free the memory of my Mac? Thanks a lot. Carlo Molinari (Rome - Italy)

How can I do to transfer all iTunes library from my Mac book Pro to Time capsule without to lost the alphabetic sequence of songs & artists? What is the correct way to transfer my 3000 songs to Time capsule, to free the memory of my Mac?
The following are the basic steps to transfer your iTunes Media folder from your MacBook Pro to the Time Capsule (TC). Note: You will leave the iTunes Library, and its associated files, on the MacBook Pro as you will only be moving the media files.
Be sure to shutdown iTunes before starting.
Next, move the "iTunes Music" folder, located in ~/Music/iTunes/, to wherever you want on your TC's internal hard drive. Remember to leave the Album Artwork folder, as well as the three individual library files where they are on the MacBook Pro.
Wait a while. If you have a large library, this will take a bit of time.
Once the iTunes Media folder has been transferred, open iTunes. Note: It will still be looking at your local iTunes Library on the MBP. As such it will think that the iTunes Media folder is still on the MBP as well. However, we just relocated it to the TC. If you attempt to select any song, you will get an error that the song is "missing." Not to worry, we will correct this in the next step.
We need to tell iTunes the media has moved to the TC's internal HDD. To change where iTunes "looks" for the media, open iTunes and go to the Advanced > General tab and use the "Change..." button to tell it where your new "iTunes Music" library is located.
Once this is done iTunes will likely pop up a progress window telling you that it's re-analyzing your library. Let it complete this step.
As a final check to make sure everything when as planned, click on any library file from within iTunes and press cmd + i (or View > Get Info). At the bottom of the Summary tab in that window is a "Where:" section that tells you the actual file path to that piece of media; be sure that path begins with the name of your TC's drive, and not "Macintosh HD."

after exporting to quicktime file, the file has sound but no video, what am I doing wrong?  The self contained movie box is not checked.

    Hi
Did You go via Compressor ?
Did You use QuickTime Conversion ?
    I don't
    I do
    • In TimeLine set In and Out-Points to the full Movie/Project
    • Select ALL - Clips and Audio
    • Go up to Sequence and down to Render Only - down to Mix Down Audio
    • then Sequense and Render Selected - Both (Video and Audio)
    • then Export and as QuickTime .mov (NOTHING ELSE)
    • I use to do - Not Self-Contained as it saves both time and space
Your Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk - Needs lot's of free space to work OK - I never go under 25Gb free space on this one,
Good Luck - Yours Bengt W

  • I started a creative cloud student membership but Premiere Pro and After Effects are not in the app

I started a creative cloud student membership but Premiere Pro and After Effects are not in the app and won't download from the adobe website, all that happens is that the creative cloud app opens and sends me to the list of programs available for download which still do not contain Premiere Pro and After Effects

Premiere Pro and After Effects are 64 bit only apps.
They require a 64 bit computer and a 64 bit operating system.
If you're running Windows 7 32 bit or Windows 8 32 bit then you will not be able to download, install or run Premiere Pro or After Effects.
    See http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/faq.html#desktop-products
Which desktop applications in Creative Cloud require 64-bit operating systems?
With the new CC apps, most of the pro video and audio applications now require 64-bit operating systems to run. These native 64-bit applications include Adobe Premiere® Pro CC, Adobe Audition® CC, After Effects® CC, Prelude® CC, and SpeedGrade® CC. Flash Professional CC, Photoshop CC and Lightroom® also require 64-bit on Mac OS.

Good to hear that you've had some success with the import.
I tried 3 times to do it before I finally changed it to H.264, and it worked on the first try.  The quality of the compression was terrible with those settings compared to my standard settings, but I'm just glad it worked.
Rather than Share>Export using QuickTime and then choosing your own settings for H.264, you may get a better result if you simply use the Share>Export Movie option. Alternatively, use the Share>Media Browser option (as I mentioned in my earlier post). You will be presented with a range of sizes to choose from. Depending on your target, it's usually best to select the highest size available, such as Large, HD 720p or HD 1080p. However, for producing a DVD it's best to not go beyond the HD 720p size, as the DVD will be downscaled during encoding to Standard Definition in the appropriate size for either PAL or NTSC.
In my experience, both these options (Export Movie or Media Browser) produce a video file of excellent quality. The files will be in H.264 format and will have the file extension .mov or .m4v depending on the size of the export. I'm assuming that your camera records HD video in AVCHD format.
These files work well with iDVD (or other DVD authoring programs). The export process for the presets is optimised by Apple to produce high quality video files at a reasonable file size. So, selecting a preset may give you a much better result. Choosing your own H.264 settings when using the "Export using QuickTime" method could be why "the compression was terrible". You may have selected a data (bit) rate that was too low. There is always a trade-off between quality and file size when compressing video.
So, to summarise, try one of the Apple presets using either Share>Export Movie or Share>Media Browser.

  • Premiere Pro Crashing on my first start of the Program

So I purchased my subscription to Premiere Pro today and got everything downloaded with CC and the second I start up Premiere pro I select New Project and then the Program Closes down. I've Unistalled and re-installed, restarted my PC and still no luck and I am running on a PC. I have tried numerous things like Run as Administrator, Updating drivers, Restarting, and nothing. My Media Encoder CC works perfectly fine.
    PC Specs:
    Operating System: Windows 8 64-Bit
Processor: Intel Core i5-3350P 3.10GHz Quad Core
    RAM: 6GB
    Hard Drive: 4TB
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
    Monitor: ASUS 1920x1080
    Thank You!!

    ok,
go to c:-program files*86-common-Adobe-SLCache, rename the SL Cache to old SL cache
go to c:-Program Data-Adobe-SLStore and rename the Sl store to old SL Store.
Program Data is a hidden folder so have to change the view option in order to find the folder.
After following these steps run the application as admin.
    Thank You

    Wow. Okay...
I'll let the real veterans in this forum tackle your issues one after the other. But, I can tell you, all will be well.
My only comment would be re: your computer specs:

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.
I wish you luck, hang in there, and standby for more help.
