Premiere Pro CC 14 Crashing When Importing, Exporting

I am running Premiere Pro CC 2014.0 on Windows 7 Pro
Processor: Intel(R) Core i7-4770 GPU @3.40GHZ
RAM: 24GB
GFX Card: Intel HD Graphics 4600
Mercury Playback - No
No 3rd party extensions, just Premiere
The program was running fine up until yesterday when I was attempting to do some simple editing of some GoPro footage together and Premiere began to freeze and crash when rendering and exporting. I thought it was an issue with the footage so I attempted to import some video from my Canon XA20 that I was using eariler in the day I knew worked and now Premiere crashes when I attempt to import it and move it to the timeline. I have uninstalled and re-installed Premiere and the problem has not been fixed. Below are two sets of error messages I have seen in the event log.

Any help would be greatly appreciated with this aggravating problem!!!!!
Thanks!!

Hi,
Try to reset the preferences.
go to documents folder-adobe-7.0
rename it old 7.0
once we reset the preferences, you would loose you custom presets and keyboard shortcuts if you created any.
Thank You

  • Premiere Pro 5.5 crashes when importing mpg file

Premiere Pro 5.5 crashes when importing mpg file.
I can get the file to import if I first right click the file and tell it to "open in source monitor" then tell it to import.
When I do this it indexes the file. After it is done indexing is when I can then import the file.
Should I not just be able to tell it to import and it does the indexing?
These files that I am tryig to open were with Premiere Pro 4.

    Welcome to the forum.
What are the specs. of this MPEG file? Might be something in those, that is causing an issue.
    Good luck,

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 constantly crashes when importing video files

I have not used Premiere Pro in a while, but recently when I tried to import video files (from .m4v, .mp4 and .mov) the program stops working, the "importing" window doesn't progress and I get the rainbow wheel of "death".
I read some other posts where some are having similar situations and some users suggested moving the file from an external hard-drive to an internal one (I have a 1TB external hard-drive) but that didn't do squat either.
Once the program is frozen I'm forced to "force quit" the program.
Does anyone know what I can do?

I am having the same problems, but my program locks up when trying to playback .MTS files that are shot natively on my GH2.  It will not render or export anything & when you try and scrub or playback footage it gets the spinning wheel of death.  To finish my last project, I had to transcode all the .MTS files to .MP4 files and it worked fine.  Also, anytime I shut down PP, I have to force quit the program for it to shut down.  Here are the detailed info you asked for...
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).Premiere Pro CC (trial) 7.1.0 - 141 (because I uninstalled CS5, 5.5, & 6 thinking they may be the problems.
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.) YES, up to date
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac”. OSX 10.9
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime”..MTS files from a GH2
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?It tells me that it is an unknown error (I do not have a copy of the original error message)
What were you doing when the problem occurred?Trying to playback (wheel of death), Trying to Render and export (starts rendering, then just sits there and then gives the unknown error)
Has this ever worked before?I have worked on this projects for a few months, then just out of the blue it started with these problems about 1 week ago.
What other software are you running?none
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?some from Video Copilot and Plural eyes 3 (NOT used on this project)
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
    iMac 27in Mid 2011 3.4 Intel Core i7 16 GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 AMD Radeon HD6970M 2048 MB OSX 10/9 (13A603)
No external devices, except a external hard drive.  I changed from a Thunderbolt Seagate 1TB (single 7200 RPM) to a Drobo Mini 2 TB RAID 5 in the MIDDLE of this problem, thinking the issue was the drive was to slow to keep up - NOT the case… it still happens with the new drive.
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?I am not completely sure to be honest - I believe it is the factory settings.
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?both!

  • Premiere Pro, Media Encoder Crashing When Exporting/Rendering

For the longest time if I ever tried to export or render a video longer than 5 minutes, my Premiere Pro or Media Encoder crashes. I don't know why but it is EXTREMELY irritating when attempting to make lengthened gaming videos. I have tried 15 different methods all online, to no avail. It always crashes around the 40% mark in Adobe Premiere and it isn't a corrupt project. I have literally tried everything to no avail and I finally decided I would turn here to ask for help. I reset the preferences, tried copying and pasting into a new sequence, tried reinstalling Premiere... the whole bit. Regardless of whether I have a new project file or an existing one, edits or no edits, whenever I click export, Premiere Pro simply crashes.  Same for Media Encoder - can't even open that one.  I have all of the latest CS6 updates installed, the computer is brand new as of two weeks ago - OSX 10.9.1, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB.  The only way I've been able to export is through a backdoor: I use the dynamic link in After Effects, then render out my sequences there.  Help?

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 crashes when loading project file

Hi guys, any help on this is much appreciated as I have a job due in 18 hours and I'm in big trouble if I can't fix this.
I've been editing a project in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 (updated to the latest version) and when I tried to access the same file today it is giving me the error message:
'Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.'
I had saved other version files and they all seem to be working properly so I know it's not my HD that is corrupt. In fact my suspicion is that it has something to do with a blur effect i'm using. The only problem is, I can't even access the file to delete the effect as the project file won't open.
    Information about my computer:
I am using a Macbook Pro
    OS X version 10.9.4
    2.6 Ghz Intel Core i5
    Memory 16 GB, 1600 MHz DDR3
    Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Guys I solved my own problem - thought I'd share with you how in case anyone else is having this problem -
    I came across this thread
Premiere Pro CC error message and crash
    which had the suggestion -
"Do tou have after effects installed? If yes, please try to import the main sequence into it and then export it as premier pro project from file/export ootion and then try to open that in premiere pro."
This didn't work for me too but I did try and import my existing project into a new project and copy all the files over. Works fine now.
I don't know if I will have the same issue again tomorrow so I'm going to render out a super high res video before I close premiere just in case

  • Premiere Pro CC "general error" when importing FCP 7 xml file

I have edited a film using Final Cut Pro 7 on a Mac which is not mine (and now several 100 kms away). I would like to do some more editing on the project using Final Cut Pro CC  (trial version, to test if it does everything I need it to do before buying). I exported my film as an xml file to import into Premiere, but Premiere now tells me it cannot import because of a "general error". (I also have Premiere CS4 on my computer which crashes when I try to import the xml file - but that has some problems with reading my image material anyway, which is why I wanted to try switching to Premiere CC). Any hints on how I could solve this problem (preferably without getting the Mac back which I can't right now) would be much appreciated. Many thanks!

No ideas? I found some entries on this issue for earlier versions of Premiere which in part included advice to update to a newer version - which in my case clearly does not apply. So any ideas for possible solutions would be great.

  • Premiere Pro cs6 keeps crashing when im editing or rendering a video

When I am on Adobe Premiere Pro cs6 every 10-20 mins it crashes when im editing a video, it crashes more often when im rendering it (export media, ctrl+M). I dont mind when it crashes while im editing because i save the file regularly but when im rendering its a problem, it probably because the file is too big as i use dxtory to record skyrim but this is an expensive product so it should be able to render. I encode the file once ive chosen the format and stuff for the video and it says finish rendering in 50 mins or so and when it gets to like 4% rendering it says not responding. It then troubleshoots but then says 'close program'. this is very frustrating, please can someone help me. • Premiere Pro CC 2014 crash when I Click and Drag

Hi All, I have a problem with Premiere CC 2014 that is driving me crazy!
    The issue is as follows:
If I try to drag a clip, sequence, effect or transition anywhere within the premiere, it will crash - with "Sorry, a serious error has occurred" message. The program will crash, quit and the saved recovery project is usually healthy (luckily!). BUT, as soon as I've re-started the program, and reloaded the project - or any project for that matter - the problem persists. As soon as I click and drag, Premiere crashes!
In order to 'reset' this, I have to restart my machine. Once I have done so, I can continue editing as normal for a while (not long, perhaps up to an hour, or so) but eventually, it WILL crash again. I've not been able to work out what I have to do in order to trigger this - it seems random. But once it's happened, only restarting my computer will resolve it - and then only temporarily.
    Here are all the facts:
The crash ONLY happens when I drag something... This can include moving a clip on the timeline, dragging a clip form the source viewer or project window, dragging an effect or transition.
The crash happens after I have clicked, as soon as I start to move my mouse.
I CAN click and drag to extend in and out points on the timeline, and I can do 'insert' edit using the button on the source monitor. No crash here.
    The footage plays fine.
I am trying this on a CLEAN OS X install, with only Adobe packages installed, to eliminate any potential of interference from other programs. There are no third party plugins or drivers installed. No user data installed either (preferences, photos, documents, etc) - as fresh as it comes!
I am not running Time Machine in the BG
My system is: Macbook Pro 2011, 16GB Ram, 1tb SSD, OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. Intel Graphics card, so no option to turn on or off hardware acceleration. It is set to software only.
I have tested this with projects and footage on an external drive, as well as internal, same issue.
I noticed the issue had started on, or around 25-27th November 2014.
Interestingly, I have noticed that once this crash has occurred in Premiere, a similar problem will occur in After Effects as soon as I drag a file or layer... doesn't matter what the layer is. The crash seems less elegant here, I don't get an error message, it just freezes and I have to 'force quit'. Again, the problem persists until the machine is restarted.
I have been using my macbook and premiere pro cc 2014 on Mavericks for a long time, and had no problems - so I know it should work fine! The only things that changed were an update to Yosemite, I started using Time Machine to make regular backups, I installed a few new fonts and any CC updates that happened in the background... I can rule out most of these because of my fresh install, with no user data, fonts plugins or time machine to confuse matters... It must be an Adobe bug with Yosemite!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks so much in advance!!

    Hi Vince,
    vince_email wrote:
...The only things that changed were an update to Yosemite, I started using Time Machine to make regular backups...
Please check this blog post. Updating from Time Machine can cause this issue: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later).
    Thanks,

This is the error message I keep receiving -
    [/caravan/releases/2014.09/shared/adobe/MediaCore/Backend/Src/Sequence/PersistentGroupCont ainer.cpp-279]
The only variant I've seen is when I try opening the same sequence in Premiere Pro CC, not 2014.
I've tried importing in the exact sequence to a fresh new project and it drops the import altogether. Has anyone seen this happen across multiple versions of cleanly installed Premiere?

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 Crashes During Media Export

Hi, I have diligently applied several of the fixes listed here:
Re: Premiere Pro CC 2014 freezes frequently and crashes
However, Premiere Pro CC crashes at about 10% of the video export -- it gets through the audio stuff as far as i can see.

    yeah, checked out the article.
my computer is not shutting down. premiere is crashing. the media exporter is crashing.
it gets through the audio then it crashes during the video processing.
i even tried to hit pause every 2 seconds.
a test exports fine from premiere 6.0, but i am concerned that 6.0 might crash if i rebuild the whole project.
    hmm i have an idea.
obviously i would much rather the software worked.

I updated Premiere Pro to CC 2014 last week and found it crashing a lot when playing back especially when playing back graphics. Has anyone else had this problem?

What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

  • Unused Clips

This may be a crazy question but I wanted to know is there is anyway I can select on of the unused portion of the video in a project? I want to give the client all of the video that was not used in the final product.
