Premiere Pro CC 2014 file size limits?

Hi a friend needs to create a 37hr uncompressed AVI file (by combining an avi of pictures and mp3 of audio of a performance) and is wondering if it can be done using Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014, ie are there any file size limits? Any comments much appreciated.

Would be interesting to know how you are going to store that. 37 hours of HD uncompressed in an AVI wrapper requires around 24 TB of free disk space on a single volume. That means you would need  something like 12 x 3 TB drives in Raid6 + 1 HS, requiring at least a 16 port raid controller for those 13 disks, just for the output file. Due to fill rate degradation, that is cutting it thin. Additionally at least a X79 or X99 motherboard with 2011 socket is necessary.
Next question is, who would be crazy enough to marathon-watch 37 hours of a performance?
You may consider another workflow, not uncompressed and not 37 hours.

  • Can Premiere Pro CC(2014) files be opened in old PP-CC?

The college where I teach is not upgrading to CC (2014) just yet.
If I upgrade my own Premiere Pro app to the (2014) version, will I be able to exchange files back and forth between them? Or would it be a one-way trip into 2014 with no return to CC?
Or, are they interchangeable, but with a few hitches I should be aware of?
    Thanks,
    Roger Spendlove

Thank you all for the helpful answers -- just what I needed to know. I think I'll still refrain from updating to (2014), as I'm certain at some point to accidentally save a file in (2014) and then be unable to open it at the school--disaster in front of a live audience of students! Also, I don't want to get used to features and interface nuances that don't quite match what I'm demonstrating on the school's computers.
I believe the college will be updating  probably next quarter (or the one after). It's complicated, as Adobe's deal with them for delivering installer packages is a bit convoluted. But I'm sure they'll update eventually. And then I will, too.
    Thanks again for the help!

  • Change .mp4 Icon on published files from Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014

When I export my Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 file, to a .mp4, the thumbnail icon of the final file doesn't pick up the first frame. (which is a still shot, title shot). Instead, it picks up the first frame of the first video clip at about 5 seconds in.
How can I set the this to pick up the first frame?
I can upload the file to YouTube, and change the custom thumbnail fine, but when the video is embedded on a page, it pulls the this same icon instead of the desired first frame.
    Thanks for helping!

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 crashes when loading project file

Hi guys, any help on this is much appreciated as I have a job due in 18 hours and I'm in big trouble if I can't fix this.
I've been editing a project in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 (updated to the latest version) and when I tried to access the same file today it is giving me the error message:
'Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project.'
I had saved other version files and they all seem to be working properly so I know it's not my HD that is corrupt. In fact my suspicion is that it has something to do with a blur effect i'm using. The only problem is, I can't even access the file to delete the effect as the project file won't open.
    Information about my computer:
I am using a Macbook Pro
    OS X version 10.9.4
    2.6 Ghz Intel Core i5
    Memory 16 GB, 1600 MHz DDR3
    Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated.

Guys I solved my own problem - thought I'd share with you how in case anyone else is having this problem -
    I came across this thread
Premiere Pro CC error message and crash
    which had the suggestion -
"Do tou have after effects installed? If yes, please try to import the main sequence into it and then export it as premier pro project from file/export ootion and then try to open that in premiere pro."
This didn't work for me too but I did try and import my existing project into a new project and copy all the files over. Works fine now.
I don't know if I will have the same issue again tomorrow so I'm going to render out a super high res video before I close premiere just in case

  • Re-interpreted footage metadata is lost when moving Premiere Pro CC 2014 project file to different computer

    Hi guys,
I believe this is just a bug in Premiere Pro CC 2014 (and other versions in the past), but I wanted to make sure it was on the PP team's plate for the next update, since it's detrimental to a workflow that include more than one computer or more than one editor on a project.
My team shoots a lot of footage in slow-motion (for instance, 59.94 for 23.976). Premiere's process to conform this footage is great. Modify -> Interpret Footage -> Assume this frame rate: "23.976".
Unfortunately, when we move this project file to another system, even if we are using a hard-drive that is synced to have the exact same source media files with the exact same file structure, we lose the footage interpretation metadata. Premiere Pro CC thinks this footage is 59.94 again, and our sequences are in shambles. All clips where the interpretation metadata is lost have "zebra pin stripes" on them wherever they exist in our sequences.
We have to manually re-interpret the footage, and then sometimes manually re-select in and out points. This is a work-around that enables us to push forward, but it's a barrier that makes collaborative editing extremely challenging and opens up rampant possibility for error. It's hard to locate every clip we need to re-interpret in some of our more complex projects, and even harder to avoid re-interpreting the wrong clips.
Looking forward to a resolution to this problem.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC not opening an xml file created in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014

    Hello,
I had created a project using Adobe Premiere CC 2014 which had some minor changes, which were going to be done by my boss, who uses Premiere Pro CC. However the project file of Adobe Premiere CC 2014 was not getting opened in Premiere Pro CC giving a message of type that as this file was created in a newer version of Premiere, it cannot be opened. After searching on this forum I found that we have to convert the Premiere Pro CC 2014 project file to XML file which can be then imported onto Premiere CC. So I created a XML file by selecting File-> Export -> Final Cut Pro XML and sent it to my boss. However even the xml file is not getting opened after being imported onto Premiere Pro CC giving an error of sorts, Cannot open the file since there is a problem with the codecs.
Have I done something wrong? Please guide me since I am a beginner to the Adobe environment and would very much appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

Indeed..... but are they fully documented, includuing Adobe's implementation of Multicam?
Collapsing them should really be no more than a day or two of work for an Adobe engineer and a day of beta testing.  Seriously.  Lots of people want this - it only takes a few minutes with google to find people struggling with this exact problem.   Premiere Pro Multicam --> Resolve.
Since we do a lot of multicam work it's something that's important to us.
Lots of other people never go near multicam, so I guess for them it's something they really don't care about.
I currently have > 22 hours of multicam sequences that need primary colour correction and follow on grading..... resolve would be the best choice by far.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 Trial Version  - Error when importing mts and mp4 video files

First time using Adobe Premiere Pro (and I'm using the trial version).  When I try to import an mts video file (and tried to import an mp4 file as well), I get the error: Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 has stopped working.  And then the program crashes. Please help.
    My computer specs: Windows 7 with Service Pack 1,Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4570 CPU @ 3.2GHz, RAM: 4.00 GB, System type: 64-bit

    Hi Catherine,
    Welcome to the Adobe forums.
Please try the steps mentioned below and check if it works for you.
    1. Launch Premiere Pro and create a Project, go to File menu>Project Settings>Renderer and change the Renderer to Software only mode, delete previews if you get a prompt and then try to import the clip.
    2. If step 1 fails or the Renderer is already on Software only mode, go to Start Menu and search for Device Manager, go into Display Adapters and Right click on the Graphics card to select Update driver software option, on the next screen choose "Browse my computer for driver software", then choose "Let me Pick from a list..." option and from the list select "Standard VGA Graphics adapters. You might need to change the screen resolution of your screen and once done restart the machine again.
Launch Premiere Pro and import the clip to check.

  • NEED HELP ASAP  Updated to Premiere Pro CC 2014 and now .MTS files are unsupported/unrecognized

    I Have Windows 8
    3.4 Ghz 8 Core Intel i7
    32 GB Ram
    PPCC2014
I was using Premiere Pro CC for the last year or so and .MTS Files have worked fine.  Since I upgraded.  I can no longer use .MTS Files.
I sync all of my footage using Plural Eyes.  I updated plural eyes so that it would work with the New Premiere Pro CC 2014 update.
I tried going back to Premiere Pro CC; however, that was updated as well.  It does recognize the .MTS files there, but it doesn't import the new .xml correctly created from Plural Eyes 3.5
If anyone knows any help or workaround so I can complete my TV episode.  That would be great.
Also, I would prefer not to have to Transcode anything.  Hours and Hours and Huge files won't really work.
I've also looked in to Re-wrapping.  I understand Clipwrap is great for that; however, I have Windows not Mac.  Other options look way too involved.  I'd really just like my Premiere Pro to work the way it's supposed to,.
    Does Adobe Media Encoder Rewrap?
Anyway, any ideas would be helpful.
    Thanks

Thank You, Thank You!!!!   That worked.  I had to "Link Media"  to the new file path, after I renamed the parent folder; however, it's working!!!!  Hopefully there will be a fix for that soon!

  • Premiere pro CC (2014) problems with audio on .mts files

    Hi,
This is a recent problem I have been having when trying to play certain clips in Premiere Pro CC (2014), I import the entire private folder and some of the clips play as normal and others seem to have skipping audio. This causes the second half of the clip to not have any audio in it at all because it is bunched up at the beginning. I don't even know where to start with trying to fix the problem, the only thing I have done is re import the files and put them in new folders to change the destination it has been imported from.
Any advice would be extremely helpful as it is mostly stopping me from getting on with any work,
    Thanks!

    Hi amber1992,
I will suggest you to go ahead and clean the Media cache and Media cache files folders manually.
MAC OS: Click on Go menu>Go to Folders>type ~/Library and click ok. This will open User Library folder and then navigate to Application Support>Adobe>Common>Media Cache and Media Cache files. Delete all the files from these folders.
Windows: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common or you can Click on Start button and in search type %appdata% and open Roaming folder>Adobe>Common>Media Cache and Media Cache files.
Once done launch the project again and check.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 will not import MOV files

As of about two weeks ago, my Premiere Pro CC 2014 stopped importing my Canon MOV files. Never had a problem before. I've had to edit in CC to work around this. They import fine there.

    Jim,
I've looked up all sorts of MP4/MOV comparisons on the web ... most conclude that mov is perhaps a bit "safer" on an Apple OS and mp4 "safer" on a PC and non-Apple "devices", but generally list the contents of the two as being nearly indistinguishable. I do realize the Qt has had ... issues ... within the Adobe programs, especially on PC's.
You have any other good info? Always looking to learn from the more experienced ...

  • Rendering white flicker on the program monitor and output video file. How to get rid of this flicker in adobe premiere pro cc 2014?

    Hello,
I have been working with long sequences in adobe premiere pro cc 2014. All of sudden, I see white flicker in the program monitor and rendered output too. The flicker does not follow any pattern. It is very random.
How to work around on this?
    Regards
    Naveen Alle

Concurrently working on the same project it requires a specific implementation in all editing programs like Avid's Unity/ ISIS shared storage. That's what you are simply not considering. none of your issues would be any problem if your projects resided on a commonly accessed server or something like that. Check respective hardware solutions.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 Crashing very often! Please Help!

    Hello,
I am currently editing my first feature on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 and it is currently up to date.
I am editing on a iMac 27in, late 2013 brand new computer.
Processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 32GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096MB
    System: OSX Yosemite V 10.10.1
The project is located on a 8TB G Drive
    7200 RPM
    High Performance ThunderBolt drive.
    Details of the project:
I am currently working on a fine cut of 5K Red Footage that is being cut in the RAW.
I work at 1/2 quality settings and have no lag.
The timeline includes limited stacked video files and various mp3 audio files.
    The Problem:
Lately, the program will randomly quit or freeze up 4-5 times during an 5-6 hour edit session.
Many times it is random, however, it seems to happen often if I accidentally click on the end of a clip on the timeline and it goes to switch into trimming mode.
Also, it will randomly go into the "pinwheel of death" out of nowhere followed by "Adobe CC is not responding."
My project file is just about 15MB now.
What is causing this reoccurring problem?
How can I make it happen less?  I have scoured the forums and found similar articles but no helpful solutions.
I have recently turned auto save on to save every 2 minutes because there have been more than one occasion where I lost A LOT of work because of this issue.
I am about two weeks out from picture lock delivery and this issue is driving me crazy and loosing me a ton of time.
Please help or let me know if any more additional information can help solve the issue.
I have sent in well over 25 error reports already.
    Thanks,
    Thomas.

I think I may have found the solution...
I completely removed the Premiere Pro folder under User > Documents > Adobe and so far it seems to have solved the problem.
I of course backed up my projects and than deleted this folder. So far it seems it worked.
I'll know for sure in a day or two, but after constantly crashing, Premiere hasn't crashed for the last 4-5 hours of work.

  • How to work on the same project on two machines at the same time and also exchange progress seamlessly using Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014?

We are working on a film project on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014. Two editors are working on the same film project (same pproj file ) on two machines. As a result the bin structure and the file structure is exactly the same. We even bought two licenses for the respective machines to make matters simple (at least we thought it would).
Now when we share a sequence between the two machines, every time we have to import and re-link media. Also each sequence import comes with its own set of files, which are actually already present in the project. Basically the new sequences are looking to re-link the media to the original/ source files only and are completely ignoring the file structure present in the project.
In all editing softwares, timeline/ sequence sharing is a very common practise when working on multiple machines. Why is it so tedious in CC 2014? Every time we share a sequence between the two machines the media gets doubled and tripled in the project. As a result the project file size is increasing perpetually. Already Premiere CC 2014 is extremely laggy and slow, and this stupid bug is making it more difficult for us to finish our work on time.
Has anybody ever faced this issue? How do we solve it? We are willing to try out any workflow that you can suggest.

Concurrently working on the same project it requires a specific implementation in all editing programs like Avid's Unity/ ISIS shared storage.
