This error message is the second time its happened to a project.
Anyone has any idea what's causing this and how to fix it?
Sincere thanks!

Hi Mark,
Sounds like an activation issue. Try this:

  • Premiere pro CC 2014 - Project contained a sequence that could not be opened

    Hi,
I've got serious issues, I just spent hours working on a project in CC 2014 and I closed and tried to reopen in and its now telling me that 'The project contains a sequence that could not be opened.'.
The file is permanently jammed in this state, what do I do from here?
    Please help!!
    Mark

First, this can happen ... you do have auto-saves set for every so often, right? Do a manual save-as every now and then? Right? ... Hope so ...
If you've got autosaves "on" you can of course go to the last saved save. Depending on your time betwixt saves, you might lose some work. Better than everything, of course.
If not ... there'll be help from others here. Hoping you get this taken care of ...

  • Open Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 project   in Adobe Premiere Pro CC

    Hi everyone,
Did somebody knows how to open Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 project   in Adobe Premiere Pro CC ?
    Best regards, Alex

This method is not good for me, because I lost stuff  like titles with its settings of motions and effects (I try to open my templates for video clips ).
Maybe there is another way to do it ?

  • Re-interpreted footage metadata is lost when moving Premiere Pro CC 2014 project file to different computer

    Hi guys,
I believe this is just a bug in Premiere Pro CC 2014 (and other versions in the past), but I wanted to make sure it was on the PP team's plate for the next update, since it's detrimental to a workflow that include more than one computer or more than one editor on a project.
My team shoots a lot of footage in slow-motion (for instance, 59.94 for 23.976). Premiere's process to conform this footage is great. Modify -> Interpret Footage -> Assume this frame rate: "23.976".
Unfortunately, when we move this project file to another system, even if we are using a hard-drive that is synced to have the exact same source media files with the exact same file structure, we lose the footage interpretation metadata. Premiere Pro CC thinks this footage is 59.94 again, and our sequences are in shambles. All clips where the interpretation metadata is lost have "zebra pin stripes" on them wherever they exist in our sequences.
We have to manually re-interpret the footage, and then sometimes manually re-select in and out points. This is a work-around that enables us to push forward, but it's a barrier that makes collaborative editing extremely challenging and opens up rampant possibility for error. It's hard to locate every clip we need to re-interpret in some of our more complex projects, and even harder to avoid re-interpreting the wrong clips.
Looking forward to a resolution to this problem.

Guys I solved my own problem - thought I'd share with you how in case anyone else is having this problem -
    I came across this thread
Premiere Pro CC error message and crash
    which had the suggestion -
"Do tou have after effects installed? If yes, please try to import the main sequence into it and then export it as premier pro project from file/export ootion and then try to open that in premiere pro."
This didn't work for me too but I did try and import my existing project into a new project and copy all the files over. Works fine now.
I don't know if I will have the same issue again tomorrow so I'm going to render out a super high res video before I close premiere just in case

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 (8.0.1.21) crashes when opening or creating a project

I just downloaded the trial for Premiere Pro CC (2014), and the program keeps crashing every time I open or create a new project. I can idle at the "Startup Screen" but as soon as I open a project the program closes without warning. I've re-installed all Adobe products I have, re-installed the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2012 and 2013 to get new MSVCR110.dll files (which seems to be the file causing the crash) but nothing is helping. I've also looked in every thread I've found on this forum and a lot of people seem to be having the same problem, but no one had got any answers for how to solve the problem.
Anyone have a clue on what to do? According to others formatting the hard drives don't seem to solve the problem either.

  • Avid AAF into Premiere works until "This project contained a sequence that could not be opened."

I'm exporting an audio timeline from Avid to an AAF. I chose to copy and convert all the audio media into .WAV files, to place on a new harddrive and to provide a readable format for Premiere/Audition; (I read that Audition doesn't import AAF, but Premiere does, and can transfer to Audition.)
Importing this AAF into premiere seems to work - it apparently links to the media and uses the AAF edl to create a new sequence, but before the import is successful I get the error message:
    "Fire Import Failure
    C:\[path]\PicLockAvidAudioTimelineExport.prproj
    Error Message
This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."
What I don't understand is that this apparently refers to a premiere project sequence - prproj. Why is Premiere having trouble importing an AAF created from Avid?
Using Premiere at school, I can import the AAF just fine. I'm using Premiere CS5 at home.
    Thank you!

Try installing the Avid software codecs on your home machine.
    Cheers

  • Premiere Pro CC (2014 version) crashes (beach ball) when trying open certain large Projects

    Hi,
I'm currently editing for a TV channel using the latest version of Premiere Pro CC and certain projects (it seems to be with ones with a lot of footage) crash when I open it. Basically, it doesn't even load all the footage up, one that crashed just now said it had around 140 files left to load, but the beach ball arrives and I sat there waiting for half an hour and nothing happen, apart from the beach ball spinning.
Now, we're on an high spec iMac 3.5Ghz i, 32GB ram, 512gb Flash Storage, 4GB Geforce Graphics card, so I don't think the issue can be the mac, unless the macs faulty, but seems to work fine, when I create new projects etc.
Also, their workflow uses USB 3.0 drives, could this be the bottle-neck making them crash? That being said I've edited lots off my USB 3.0 drive at home and my desktop is a lot weaker then this iMac.
Any ideas what the issue may be?
    Thank you,
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
Please mention the exact version of Premiere Pro. Assuming you are using 2014 version, please try some steps mentioned below.
    1. Clean the media cache files by navigating to /Users/User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common
    2. Check the version of the drivers of your NVidia card. So, go to Apple Menu>System Preferences and check if you have a CUDA Preference pane if it is not there then go to the below link and update the Card to latest drivers.
CUDA Drivers for MAC Archive | NVIDIA
    3. Also, please mention if you have any third party plugins used in the project. If yes, then try to update those Plugins or copy and paste those plugins to some other location and Trash them from MediaCore of Premiere Pro. The location of third party plugins is mentioned below.
Startup Drive or MAC HD /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Vinay

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC not opening an xml file created in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014

    Hello,
I had created a project using Adobe Premiere CC 2014 which had some minor changes, which were going to be done by my boss, who uses Premiere Pro CC. However the project file of Adobe Premiere CC 2014 was not getting opened in Premiere Pro CC giving a message of type that as this file was created in a newer version of Premiere, it cannot be opened. After searching on this forum I found that we have to convert the Premiere Pro CC 2014 project file to XML file which can be then imported onto Premiere CC. So I created a XML file by selecting File-> Export -> Final Cut Pro XML and sent it to my boss. However even the xml file is not getting opened after being imported onto Premiere Pro CC giving an error of sorts, Cannot open the file since there is a problem with the codecs.
Have I done something wrong? Please guide me since I am a beginner to the Adobe environment and would very much appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

Indeed..... but are they fully documented, includuing Adobe's implementation of Multicam?
Collapsing them should really be no more than a day or two of work for an Adobe engineer and a day of beta testing.  Seriously.  Lots of people want this - it only takes a few minutes with google to find people struggling with this exact problem.   Premiere Pro Multicam --> Resolve.
Since we do a lot of multicam work it's something that's important to us.
Lots of other people never go near multicam, so I guess for them it's something they really don't care about.
I currently have > 22 hours of multicam sequences that need primary colour correction and follow on grading..... resolve would be the best choice by far.

  • Persistent Premiere Pro CC 2014 error message: "This project contains a sequence that could not be opened..."

I've been working on a project and everything was working fine. I close the program and reopened it an hour later. Now, I keep getting this error message: "This project contains a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."
I attempted to use one of the Adobe suggested solutions... opening a new project, clicking on the "Help" Tab and deactivating, but the tab doesn't have that option. I'm also a little afraid to uninstall and re-install premiere pro, the other suggestion, because I'm worried about losing my files.
I would be grateful if anyone could help me.
    Thank you very much.

  • Premiere Pro CC Error: "This project contained a sequence that could not be opened..."

I know this problem has been reported previously with Premiere Pro CC (I run 2014). When opening up a recent project, I keep getting this: "Error Adobe Premiere Pro: This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type." The only solutionm is to open another project, sign ou, then sign in before I get open that other project. This has become a pain...  Is there a permanent fix for this issue that has been reported for quite a while now?
    Thanks for your help.
    Marc

    Hi Marc-Andre d'Anjou,
I am sorry to hear you're having trouble with this issue. It happens sometimes because of activation problems. The doc that Rameez points to is missing steps for reactivating the Creative Cloud version of Premiere Pro. For Premiere Pro CC, and later, see the section "How to deactivate or sign out" in this document. See the section "How to activate or sign in" in the same document to activate Premiere Pro once more.
See also this FAQ: FAQ: Why are some codecs and sequence presets missing from my installation of Premiere Pro?

  • "This project contained a sequence that could not be opened" adobe premiere pro cc

HI everyone. I am using adobe premiere pro cc, but it is giving be headache almost every other day. When I open a file, once out of two times, I have this message: "This project contained a sequence that could not be opened", and this is annoying as it blocks all my work and I start waiting time trying to solve the issue, the live chat is not available and all the solutions offered here send me to do things that waste my time even more, and two days later, the same problem comes back. can anyone help, please?
    Thanks

Thanks a lot Ann, but this is becoming really annoying! How many times per week should I uninstall, clean up and then reinstall this app?
In my "Help" thing, there is no "Help > Deactivate", so I can't choose the option 1.
Option 2 seems too complicated for me, the only option left to me is the option 3, but the problem keeps coming back!

  • Errors opening a project in Adobe Premiere pro CC 2014 from previous version

    Hello!
I have a problem with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014. I use Adobe to edit my film project and from the last time I updated the CC to CC 2014, it shows me an error message (Pic nr 1). When I want to continue and save that, Premiere CC 2014 shows me another message(Nr 2). but next time when I want to open that, it's impossible ... (Nr 3).
I didn't change or remove anything. The problem started after I updated the program. Even now that I want to open the project with previous version of CC 2013, its showing me the same errors...
Do someone have any idea about it?
    Thanks

  • How to work on the same project on two machines at the same time and also exchange progress seamlessly using Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014?

We are working on a film project on Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014. Two editors are working on the same film project (same pproj file ) on two machines. As a result the bin structure and the file structure is exactly the same. We even bought two licenses for the respective machines to make matters simple (at least we thought it would).
Now when we share a sequence between the two machines, every time we have to import and re-link media. Also each sequence import comes with its own set of files, which are actually already present in the project. Basically the new sequences are looking to re-link the media to the original/ source files only and are completely ignoring the file structure present in the project.
In all editing softwares, timeline/ sequence sharing is a very common practise when working on multiple machines. Why is it so tedious in CC 2014? Every time we share a sequence between the two machines the media gets doubled and tripled in the project. As a result the project file size is increasing perpetually. Already Premiere CC 2014 is extremely laggy and slow, and this stupid bug is making it more difficult for us to finish our work on time.
Has anybody ever faced this issue? How do we solve it? We are willing to try out any workflow that you can suggest.

Concurrently working on the same project it requires a specific implementation in all editing programs like Avid's Unity/ ISIS shared storage. That's what you are simply not considering. none of your issues would be any problem if your projects resided on a commonly accessed server or something like that. Check respective hardware solutions.
