Premiere Pro CC 2014 RAM issues, audio dropouts and export failures

So I've upgraded to PP CC 2014, it worked fine for a while. Then I've noticed that while editing audio starts to dropout (I'm getting PP system message in the low right corner). I tried to dig up some info on the subject, but the only explanation I see that after couple of hours of editing PP eats up nearly all of my RAM.
Any solutions?
My specs:
i7-2600K 3.4 GHz
Quadro 2000
32 GB RAM

Take a look at your GPU usage with something like GPU-Z to see if both Premiere versions are using the same amount of MPE GPU hardware acceleration.  Actually with CC 2014 it might work faster because Adobe added in more 4k effects/features for GPU acceleration.
You might want to download our Premiere Pro BenchMark (PPBM) and run it on both versions.  The H.264 very complex timeline has 4K material in it and usually shows Premiere Pro 8.xxx take about only half the time that Premiere Pro CS6 take to export that same timeline.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 Playback Issue / Crash Mac Pro 2011

    Hi,
I've been having a big crash issue on Premiere Pro CC 2014, since the 2014.1 update.
2014.0 has been working fine this year but the update has crashed some of my biggest current projects.
Programs just starts fine, workspace responds, but anything related to playback just crashes or freezes Premiere.
    My config:
    Mac Pro Mid 2010
    Processor : 2x2,93 6-core Xeon
    Ram : 24Go 1333
    2x ATI Radeon HD 5770.
I've been reading all major topics on this, this i did :
    - disable Mercury Transmission
    - Flushes Premiere cache
    - Reinstall premiere
    - Updated to Mavericks (issue happened both in 10.9 and 10.10 - thought updating drivers+opencl would help, then again no)
    - Repaired permissions
    - Tried with another user session
    … and so on.
Nothing yet has solved my issue, anyone to help me on this major trouble ?
Thanks in advance, best regards !
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
    Try the following:
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
Ensure Adobe folder preferences are set to read/write in all 3 locations.
    Delete media cache
    Remove plug-ins
    Repair permissions
In Sequence Settings > Video Previews, change the codec to one that matches your footage
    Disconnect any third party hardware
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot
I placed the chief culprits in bold.
Report back if anything here worked for you.
    Thanks,

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 encoding issues due to graphic opacity settings?

Our marketing team has been working on some instructional video content in Premiere Pro CC 2014 and have encountered issues with encoding the completed sequences. Our output format is HD video with the H.264 codec, 1920 x 1080, 30 FPS.
The symptom of the problem is that the encoding process cannot proceed beyond 50%, and in some cases, does not start at all. Simply put, we can't encode any videos to completion.
We think we have isolated the issue, which we initially believed was due to video format differences between the two cameras used to shoot the footage. An EPS logo was present throughout the video with reduced opacity (80%). When we removed the logo, the videos began encoding properly, and to completion. When the EPS logo was included at 100% opacity, the videos also encoded properly and to completion.
Has anyone else been encountering similar issues in Premiere Pro or After Effects CC 2014? If so, what was the resolution? Is there a known issue with the opacity of graphic assets in video encoding?

I've occasionally seen problems with say multiple masks & final render-out/exporting, but I've not seen one here on a graphic's opacity causing a problem. It's a very common part of the tool-kit, of course, for most pro/semi-pro editing. Even a lot of amateur stuff.
Which leads me to wonder what would happen if you created a fresh graphic of some sort, applied it a partial & full opacity, on a SHORT clip ... just to test things. Trying to establish if it's graphic opacity in general as your problem, or this specific graphic and/or its settings.

  • Premiere pro CC (2014) problems with audio on .mts files

    Hi,
This is a recent problem I have been having when trying to play certain clips in Premiere Pro CC (2014), I import the entire private folder and some of the clips play as normal and others seem to have skipping audio. This causes the second half of the clip to not have any audio in it at all because it is bunched up at the beginning. I don't even know where to start with trying to fix the problem, the only thing I have done is re import the files and put them in new folders to change the destination it has been imported from.
Any advice would be extremely helpful as it is mostly stopping me from getting on with any work,
    Thanks!

    Hi amber1992,
I will suggest you to go ahead and clean the Media cache and Media cache files folders manually.
MAC OS: Click on Go menu>Go to Folders>type ~/Library and click ok. This will open User Library folder and then navigate to Application Support>Adobe>Common>Media Cache and Media Cache files. Delete all the files from these folders.
Windows: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common or you can Click on Start button and in search type %appdata% and open Roaming folder>Adobe>Common>Media Cache and Media Cache files.
Once done launch the project again and check.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 crash when I Click and Drag

Hi All, I have a problem with Premiere CC 2014 that is driving me crazy!
    The issue is as follows:
If I try to drag a clip, sequence, effect or transition anywhere within the premiere, it will crash - with "Sorry, a serious error has occurred" message. The program will crash, quit and the saved recovery project is usually healthy (luckily!). BUT, as soon as I've re-started the program, and reloaded the project - or any project for that matter - the problem persists. As soon as I click and drag, Premiere crashes!
In order to 'reset' this, I have to restart my machine. Once I have done so, I can continue editing as normal for a while (not long, perhaps up to an hour, or so) but eventually, it WILL crash again. I've not been able to work out what I have to do in order to trigger this - it seems random. But once it's happened, only restarting my computer will resolve it - and then only temporarily.
    Here are all the facts:
The crash ONLY happens when I drag something... This can include moving a clip on the timeline, dragging a clip form the source viewer or project window, dragging an effect or transition.
The crash happens after I have clicked, as soon as I start to move my mouse.
I CAN click and drag to extend in and out points on the timeline, and I can do 'insert' edit using the button on the source monitor. No crash here.
    The footage plays fine.
I am trying this on a CLEAN OS X install, with only Adobe packages installed, to eliminate any potential of interference from other programs. There are no third party plugins or drivers installed. No user data installed either (preferences, photos, documents, etc) - as fresh as it comes!
I am not running Time Machine in the BG
My system is: Macbook Pro 2011, 16GB Ram, 1tb SSD, OS X Yosemite 10.10.1. Intel Graphics card, so no option to turn on or off hardware acceleration. It is set to software only.
I have tested this with projects and footage on an external drive, as well as internal, same issue.
I noticed the issue had started on, or around 25-27th November 2014.
Interestingly, I have noticed that once this crash has occurred in Premiere, a similar problem will occur in After Effects as soon as I drag a file or layer... doesn't matter what the layer is. The crash seems less elegant here, I don't get an error message, it just freezes and I have to 'force quit'. Again, the problem persists until the machine is restarted.
I have been using my macbook and premiere pro cc 2014 on Mavericks for a long time, and had no problems - so I know it should work fine! The only things that changed were an update to Yosemite, I started using Time Machine to make regular backups, I installed a few new fonts and any CC updates that happened in the background... I can rule out most of these because of my fresh install, with no user data, fonts plugins or time machine to confuse matters... It must be an Adobe bug with Yosemite!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks so much in advance!!

    Hi Vince,

Please check this blog post. Updating from Time Machine can cause this issue: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later).
    Thanks,

  • Premiere Pro CC (2014) has ERASED AUDIO from my original media?

I know there are a lot of threads out there about not hearing audio, or missing audio. Maybe this is a related problem, but I didn't find anyone who described the same problem I'm having, or had a solution.
I opened up a project today that I've been working on for a few months, a documentary of sorts, with interviews, b-roll etc.  I'm editing with the native footage, which is AVCHD, shot on a Panasonic AF-100. Today, I noticed that two of my interview clips seemed to not playback as I watched it.  I wasn't too concerned at first because I know PP can be buggy, but here's all the things I did and how the problem escalated:
    - I tried playing it again, to see if it was a fluke... no audio
    - I looked at the audio in the timeline... no waveform, just a flatline... no audio.
    - I looked at the whole interview's audio waveform... about HALF of it is FLATLINED... like PP had erased or overwritten the audio somehow!
    - I restarted PP... no audio. Then I restarted the whole system... no audio.
    - I went back to the original clip in the Media Browser to try to re-import it... no audio.
    - I opened Prelude to try to look at the original media from different software... no audio.
After a few months of work (and an editing budget of tens of thousands of dollars), I am 4 days away from the delivery date, and PREMIERE IS ERASING MY MEDIA!!!
If this is not solved, I stand to lose more than just this job, but this entire client, my reputation, and my livelihood. ARE YOU LISTENING, ADOBE?  This is my career we're talking about. Please help.

Thanks for the reply shooternz, to answer your questions...
    Any recent updates? eg O.S
    - Nope. I'm running OSX 10.9.5 on a 2014 Mac Pro.  I've been told to avoid Yosemite at all costs.
Have you checked the source files of the affected clips in another player?
    - Other than Prelude, no. One thing I hadn't tried yet was to fire up my old version of Final Cut and see if I could transcode it from there with audio.  What other player can read a raw .mts file?
What does the Clip in the Bin and the Source monitor indicate ( Info)
    - The icon indicates that there's audio, and when I look at the waveform in the source monitor, it looks like just what I hear... a few minutes of regular audio, then flatline, then some audio again, then flatline.
Have you tried your back up project file?
    - No, I didn't want to lose the editing progress I had made today.
Is the audio from camera or from other recorders?
    - from the camera
Anything common between the affected clips? eg merge, FX,
    - not that I can tell, at least nothing that wouldn't also be true of a dozen other clips which seemed unaffected. no clip effects, etc.
What does the Audio Mixer and Audi Meter  show?
    - shows nothing (where it is flatlined in the original clip) as I would expect.
AFAIK - There is no way PPRO can "erase" just the audio from your source file. At least not without the editors input.
    - That's what I would think too. But even if it's not "technically" possible, it seems to be "effectively" possible because nothing in the creative cloud seemed to be able to read the clip properly. As I mentioned in my post above, it seems to have only been solved by relinking the clip to a .mts file recovered from a back-up of the project from a couple weeks ago.  Though, for what it's worth, the file sizes are identical and created/modified dates match as well... so yes, it would appear that the file has not been altered, but regardless, I can't point to it and get the proper audio.

  • Why can't Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 Time remap Audio and Video together?

In case you didn't notice, my question is WHY.  I don't know why Premiere Pro can't do this.  From what I understand at the moment, the only way to time-remap audio in any way shape or form using Adobe software is through Adobe After Effects, which my computer has absolutely no chance of running ever.  I know how to do regular stretching of audio in both Audition and Premiere Pro, but apparently I can't time-remap audio using either of these programs.
So why can't Adobe Premiere Pro time remap audio along with the video?  What's the reason that it can't?  It's a massive disappointment and would be very impressive to see accomplished in the future.  If it's possible to time remap audio and video together in After Effects, that's great and all, except for the fact that I can't use that program.  Why can't it be done in Premiere Pro and will it ever be possible in Premiere Pro?
Also, will time remapping audio become possible in Audition someday?

That sounds like a great idea.  File a Feature Request:

  • Premiere pro cc 2014 problems with audio

I have edited some sequences in premiere using sony xdcam ex clips. The clips where recorded as 1080 50i. I have edited it in the same sequence properties as premiere sugested it. All there is fine and audio is playing well. The problem strats when i change the sequence properties and select it at 1080 60i or 29p. The audio is distorted and it sounds like robotic, sometimes audio is muted on audio transitions. When i revert the properties back to 50i then all is fine.
Anyone else experience the same problems?

Sometimes i must add some clips that are recorded on canon 6d on 29.97p. and this clips look choppy and jerky on 50i sequence. But on 60i sequence both 50i and 29.97p look good. On premiere cc i cann change sequence properties without any problems with audio, only on cc 2014 that audio problem exist.

  • Premiere Pro CC (2014) Crashes if I try and locate footage/scrub/create a blank sequence, please help

Hello, this is my first time asking for help on here, I've been going round the forums and web in general for hours and can't seem to find a solution to this. I really hope someone can help me sort this.
Every time I try and open a project in Pr CC 2014 on my Mac Pro  I get the "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will try and save your current project."
People usually ask for as much detail as possible, so to that end: This is a project that I started on my MacBook Pro Retina, so when opening on my desktop it prompts me to locate the footage. Once I find the first file, as soon as my mouse moves over the clip (at the point that scrubbing would be evoked) I get the warning and it shuts down. I tried to open a blank new project, which does not shut down, until I go to import the footage and again, it only crashes when the mouse moves of the clip to scrub. I tried locating the footage in the finder to sidestep the Media Browser, and that allowed me to select the clip, but crashes once I tried to import it. I thought it may be the footage was corrupted, so I tried other clips with the same result. It also crashes if I just try to create a new sequence, with no footage at all in the project.
All my other Adobe apps (AME, Pl, Ae, Br, Ai, Ps, Lr, Id, Mu) are working fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Pr and AME twice now. I have followed the advice of other posts and renamed/reset/deleted the preferences, plugins in the Library, and adobe folder in users/username/Documents. I have ensured that I have read/write access in all folders. I am running Yosemite on my desktop, but so is my laptop and Pr is running flawlessly on that. I never had this problem with Pr CC pre 2014, so I'm hoping it's not a hardware issue.
I've also tried turning it off and on again!
I have reached the end of my tether and consider myself well and truly defeated by this problem. I really hope that someone out there can figure what on earth is going on!

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 has completely stopped working (and Prelude too)

I've used it for about a week now without issue (having just wrapped a project before updating).
Tonight I imported AVCHD footage into Prelude, imported that footage into my PPro CC 2014 project, and began editing uneventfully.
The work screen suddenly vanished. The menu bar at the top of the screen is still there. The Finder window says it's still opened, but does not show any working window.
When I quit and restart, the splash screen finishes.
    Then the Welcome screen appears.
I can click on my project, and it gives a quick progress meter as if it has opened it, but nothing appears.
I can create a new project, and that file will be saved wherever I put it, but nothing appears.
I read to move the Plug-in folder to the desktop. Unless I did it wrong, that seemed to do nothing.
I uninstalled and reinstalled PPro CC 2014, and the problem persists.
Help. I'm paying a big monthly chunk to you guys. If you can't give me an answer, please PM me the number of customer support whom I can call for assistance. I can't seem to find that number.

    Hi Brutewolf,
You said you uninstalled and reinstalled Premiere Pro. Did you run the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool, as well? Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

  • Premiere Pro CS3-CONSTANT Memory issues when editing/rendering/exporting

Alright, as said in the title I am currently using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, and my issues are horrendous
No matter what, within 10 minutes of editing, Premiere will warn and then crash because of memory issues, starting with the message:
"Adobe Premiere Pro is running very low on system memory; please save your project and proceed with caution"
Also, whenever I try to export this project, within 800 frames of a 7000 frame project (currently), it displays the message:
"Error Compiling Movie", and then the previous message above if that hasn't already happened before
And eventually, the program will crash out of nowhere, with random windows errors
    Here's my specs:
    Intel i7 920 Processor
    6 GB DDR3 RAM
    Nvidia 480 GTX
    750 watt power supply
    24" Dell Ultrasharp Monitor
Now, I've noticed that whenever Premiere is getting close to crashing, my RAM gets up to around 4.7 GB being used, and then it crashes.
I have already gone into Edit-Preferences and tried switching from Performance to Memory; that hasn't fixed anything
I noticed that when I was just running my video over and over again, it stayed stable at 4 GB or so, so maybe its a rendering issue?
I have already tried lowering my number of processes running at any given time, including my antivirus program (Kaspersky) and even explorer, but it still crashes no matter what.
    ========================================================================================== ========
This is a SERIOUS issue for me, as even with all the normal crashes I could finish the video; but now I cannot even export my video at ALL without it crashing, and I have a plenty strong-enough computer to handle this, so what gives?
    Please help

Ok, well this has been getting me nowhere
I tried importing (both my CTRL-X method, and literally importing the project), and now the program won't even RENDER the footage, it just errors out at 800 frames (just like exporting)
    What is going on???
I used to use Premiere Pro 2.0 all the time, on a separate computer, but I have 6 GB of RAM, is this really impossible???
    EDIT:
And now, even after finally getting it to render (by saving after rendering before what crashed, and then starting it up and rendering again), all my footage looks like crap XP

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 cropping issues

I am trying to create a sequence where I have multiple shots in a single frame. Much like the multiple frames seen in the show 24. I used a combination of crop and position to achieve this effect. It worked flawlessly, that is until I rendered the sequence. Now all my cropped footage has been cropped to reveal a large black space at the bottom of the video frame, as if Premiere cropped even more than I wanted, yet when I adjust it, the unrendered portion returns itself to normal. What is going on here? This is a huge 4K film project and time is of the essence. Anyone else experience this issue? Thanks for the help!

i would do a mask crop and all would look well until rendered out
how I achieved my desired mask crop was to keep the mask crop as it was and also crop the complete image away with either the right or left 'regular' crop. That was two crops - first one Premiere called Mask (1) which I inverted and then 100% crop of the image with the crop tools below that mask.
Not sure if that is proper way, but that is how I got mine to work
