Premiere Pro CC. Can I use Mercury Playback Support?

I have an iMac (27-inch Mid 2011) with 16gb of memory. I have installed Premiere Pro CC but only get the software option for Mercury. Can I engage graphics card support? Will it be supported in the future?

I have now raised this issue on the Premiere Pro Forum

Thanks,
Ian.

  • I recently got a hand-me-down Macbook (white) 2010 and want to restore to factory settings. The computer did not come with any discs. It is running 10.6.8 and I purchased 10.6.3 recently to upgrade my MacBook Pro. Can I use that to restore the MacBook?

I want to give the hand-me-down to my kids so they will stay off my MacBook Pro I'd like to start fresh with the MacBook, remove all the former owners information, restore it to factory settings, but it did not come with any installation discs, so I don't know what to do. I recently purchased Snow Lepoard for my 2008 MacBook Pro. Can I use that to restore the MacBook? Also, the former owner purchased Microsoft Office (ugh) with the computer but again, no installation discs. How do I keep that when I restore?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

I purchased a mini to HDMI cable and tried to connect to the TV but the TV is not recognizing the computer. I attempted to set sound and display settings under the "my Preferences" utility with no success.  Again, I'm not sure if I need to upgrade my OS software Any Suggestions?

  • I own PSE 10 installed on my MacBook Pro.  Can I use the disc to install it on new iMac?

Have PSE 10 installed on my MacBook Pro.  Can I use the discs to install it on my new iMac?  also considering PSE 11 and Lightroom 4. Comments?

Yes you can install it on your new Macintosh.  If it does not have an optical drive then you can copy the contents of the installation media to a USB drive and then install the software from there.

I can see my folders by clicking the X next to my name on the Inbox Folder.  So I have my folders now, just cannot see them in the left colum or see multiple windows on Outlook.  At this point, I can use the folders, just with limited functionality.  Thanks -Gina

  • Are the texture presets and images available in Adobe Premiere Pro free for commercial use?

Are the texture presets and images available in Adobe Premiere Pro free for commercial use (in this case, an image of a film reel is being used on a book cover)?

What the other users have said is correct. Premiere captures through FireWire or through SDI/HDMI via a 3rd party solution.
For your situation I would say the best bet is to connect you camera to your computer via USB or use a card reader and copy the entire directory to your hard drive and ingest into Premiere via Media Browser.
If you Google 'how to make stop motion in premiere pro' there are tons of great tutorials.

  • I am having trouble creating a timeline in a trial version of Premiere Pro. Can anyone help?

I am having trouble creating a timeline in a trial verson of Premiere Pro. Can anyone help?

Quickest way is to drag a clip into the New Item icon (left bottom corner Project window)
You can also right click on the clip in the Project window and create sequence from clip (or something in that order, not at my editing machine right now).

  • Can I use RoboHelp to support localization and generate help files in multiple languages?

    Hi,
Can I use RoboHelp to support localization and generate help
    files in multiple languages?
Can I define a layout or template for RoboHelp to insert
localized strings into the template and generate a localized help
    file?
    Thanks!

Hi newbie_r and welcome to the RH community.
You don't say what version of RH you have but the latest
version (RH7) has Unicode Support that allows you to produce help
files in most languages. The exceptions are mainly the right to
    left languages (e.g. arabic, hebrew).
As far as the template is concerned, you can assign any text,
image to a template and it will be applied to any topics you assign
    the template to.
If you haven't already, I'd download the trial version and
experiment a bit. Set up a template with what you want and then
create a couple of simple help files containing just a few topics
each. That will reassure you of RH7s capabilities in this
    area.

  • Can I export an .mp4 file created by Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 to tape using alternative software?

I am editng with Premiere Pro CS4 on a Windows XP system.  I attempt to disable all startup and background software .  When i export a one hour completed project to tape, I invariably get at least one glitch (momentary stop) on the resulting tape. Is there an alternate program I can use to export to tape an .mp4 file created by CS4?

Could be wrong, but as far as I know the only way to "export" to tape is to PLAY the timeline while the camera is connected via Firewire and in record mode

  • Can't Change Mercury Playback Engine

Everytime I try to change the Mercury Playback Engine from "Software Only" to "GPU Acceleration", I can't. The section to change the Mercury Playback Engine, appears to be grey, like everyone else has been saying.
I have read and searched around the Adobe Forums, but I can't seem to find an answer.
I just got the PNY Nvidia Quadro 2000D. I know it works with Premiere Pro CS5.5, because it's listed on the site --> http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html.
I've tried everything I could of think of:
    - Uninstalled Adobe CS5.5 then Reinstalled Adobe CS5.5
    - Setected Maximum Bit Depth & Maximum Render Quality (From Sequence Settings)
    So My Question Is:
How do I fix this problem?

I DID have the option to choose GPU before I had any Graphics Card, in my computer.
    Again, impossible.
For one, you cannot operate your computer without a GPU, so saying you previously had none makes no sense. How did you operate the computer before adding this card?
For another, the only way you can select GPU accelerated rendering in Premiere Pro is if you have an Nvidia GPU with CUDA and a minimum amount of RAM; that either means you have an officially supported GPU or you hacked the necessary file to activate the GPU. The only other possible explanation is that you somehow stumbled upon a bug that made this option available. I don't recall that ever being reported before, so you'd be the first that I'd be aware of.
My theory: you had another GPU that was hardware Mercury Playback Engine capable, and replaced it. The original drivers were not uninstalled, and the drivers for the new card were, but there's a conflict. This is just a guess, as you're not providing enough information. If you don't want to, fine--that's your choice. No one will be able to help you without such information, however.
    Anyway, good luck to you.

  • Is Premiere Pro CS5.5 really using my CUDA Card?

My setup is a dual Xeon E5420, 32GB RAM and multiple RAID 0 Volumes (1 fo OS, SSD Based,, 1 for Media files and another for Scratch ).
I have two GPUs, one old Quadro FX1700 and one brand new GeForce GTX 580.
I see the option for Mercury Playback enable on Premiere, and I see that the Red Line on the timeline turns Yellow, enabling me for realtime playback,, but when I playback my video (from Canono EOS 7D), the GPU CPU gets hit only about 5%,,
I wouldnt mind, only for the fact that I put three layers of video  on my timeline, do the same expirement and the playback is super chunky at 2x 4x etc,, and my GPU CPU (the GTX 580) is only at 10% max.
I see my XEON are at almost 100% in both cases (Mercury and No Mercury).
I been banging my head for days to see what the problem is,, I have a three monitor set up and I event try only one monitor, disconecting the Old Quadro FX1700 and elaving only the GTX 580,, with one monitor,, same thing.
I played with settings on the NVIDIA Driver,(I have the latest one),, nothing.
The playback works,, but is not near the "advertised magic bullet" on the Adobe Videos,, I see my XEONs getting hit a lot and my playback at 2x and above is horrible.
Did I meantion that I dont have any effect on the timeline,, just my three layers on MOV videos from my ESO 7D?
I have fast HDs and Raid 0,, the only think I could think of is that the XEON E5420 are a little old,, but come on,, it is just 3 years old, and they are dual XEON,, it should be ok for this,, it is only three layers of 24fps HD 1080 ,, about 1 minute each.
I dont want to go an upgrade the whole system to find out that I missed something on the config.
If anybody can advise me, I will really apreciate it.
    Thanks!
    manny.

I recently installed a GTX 580 from EVGA (3 GB Ram), costed my $ 500,, and I wanted to see how much performance gain I got.
For now I was just testing playback with mutliple layers,, I know some effects are not CUDA-enable, thats why I did the test withouth any effect at all,, like I say,, just three layers (the top two scaled down on top of the main one in the background).
When I have only one layer the playback is great, fast,, but when I put three layers of video the playback becomes chunky after forward 2x of more,, and backwards is more noticeable.
I know Im not using the correct terminology, Im not a profressional editor, this is just family stuff and I since I already had a workstation for other reasons I though I could use it for Premiere.
It looks to me that I have a bottleneck somewhere on my system (Im concerned about my XEONs E5420) because they show a lot of utilization even when Mercury Playback is enabled.
I have no reference so I dont know if my system should perform well or not.
I did the PPBM5 test (little confusing to me because it seems to be configured for people that have media, projects and scratch disk all on the same HD and I have them in three RAIDs so I was running in circles making it work)
I sent the results and my system scored 377.
