Premiere Pro CC Capturing All Files as MP3

I have Premiere Pro CC My capture files are being imported as mp3 files. I have a macbook pro which I am having problems with and I have access to an IMac and the IMac with the same Premiere Pro CC software gives me zero problems. I'm not sure what else to change because simply changing the file name to mpeg or I saw online about an m2ts (I copied it right when I did it) file but that didn't work either. Any suggestions??

Please see this link for possible solutions:

Also, others have found success changing the mp3 files extension from .mp3 to .mpeg or m2ts.

  • Premiere Pro not capturing all material

We are capturing live video from a Vaddio system mixer through a Matrox MX02 mini into Premiere on a Macbook Pro. Probably 4 of the last 12 video sessions we recorded came up short in Pr. Most of our sessions end up around 70-80 minutes and we might end up capturing 40-45 minutes of it. The time signature is still running when we finish and we are seeing the live image in the capture window.  So, we know it is getting to the computer.  After stopping the live capture and naming the file it proceeds to build audio peaks.  Why is it dropping the last 20-30 minutes of our live capture?
Changed the title to be more clear. Message was edited by: Kevin Monahan

    Kevin,
Thanks for your assistance.  The HDD on my Macbook Pro is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) with 188 GB of available space.
We record live mainly because that is how our system was designed and set up.  We use a pair of Vaddio PTZ robotic cameras permanently mounted and run through a Vaddio mixer.  Those cameras don't have hard drives on them.
The nature of the sessions we record (Bible teachings) don't require much editing since it is done live. We pretty much have a finished product when we finish the session instead of having hours of editing to do when it is over.
It is just puzzling to me that we watch the whole session as it is being recorded through the capture window in Premiere Pro (since we use that as our record monitor) yet it only saves a portion of it.  I certainly hope you have some ideas that could help.  Thanks,
    Brent

  • Project Bloating and Repair in Premiere Pro CS6; Max Project File Size? Adobe Coders Welcome...

    Greetings.
After a few browsing sessions, I haven't found direction for a specific problem within a project bloat. First and foremost; we're always backed up. I have a restoration copy of the project that I will reference herein. Check that off the list.
Numerous people have posted here and around Creative Cow with problems regarding an expanding file size using CS6; watching files go from 300mb to 2.8gb. The unfortunate problem is when the project crosses a magical line that results in an inablity to open, import, export, or access sequences contained therein. Has anyone addressed a solution to repairing Premiere CS6 save files? Reducing file bloat? I haven't seen anything (recall the FCP7 repair days... solutions existed because problems were frequent; thankfully not so bad with Adobe).
Does anyone inside the code size know the maximum project file size that Premiere can read? I created a monster... Over 200 sequences utilizing 4.5TB of footage, stretching from Red codecs to EXCam to MPEG4 and H264. And for some time, the project size was manageable. Then, it inflated. And one day, randomly stopped opening. None of the auto-saves open.
Just curious. Files aren't the problem, but the 2.8GB save file is. Machine specs // etc. are openly available if required; no bad ram, no problems with all projects (just this one beast).
    Cheers,
    Jon Michael Ryan

  • "Premiere Pro stores the preview files in a folder you can specify" But how?

    Specifying a Preview folder
On page 265 of the PDF it states:
Premiere Pro stores the preview files in a folder you can specify.
    QUES 1
But how do you specify the folder? I just rendered a test clip and was not offered the option of specifying a folder. And there is no other mention of preview folders in the PDF.
    Preview Files for Encoding
    On the same page is:
Note: Adobe Media Encoder does not automatically use Premiere Pro preview files for encoding. To make use of the Premiere Pro preview files, you must select the Use Previews option in Adobe Media Encoder for each encoding process.
It is not clear from the PDF what is the quality of these preview files.
    QUES 2
If I select the Use Previews option when exporting, aren't I degrading the quality of the export by encoding from an already encoded preview?
    QUES 3
For the absolute best quality, should Use Previews be turned off?

Preview File location is determined in the overall Project Settings.
Set this location before you render any Preview Files.

    QUES 2
If I select the Use Previews option when exporting, aren't I degrading the quality of the export by encoding from an already encoded preview?
In most (if not all) cases... yes.
Previews are intended for real-time playback in the Timeline only.
You should not use previews for export.*
    QUES 3
For the absolute best quality, should Use Previews be turned off?
    Yes!
*There are a few semi-obscure exceptions to this general rule.

  • Premiere Pro CS6, large project file size - crashing etc

Working on a project in Premiere Pro CS6 - also incorporating after effects and using 2 external plugins (Beauty Box and Factory Pro FX).  Project is over 500MB, lots of comps, titles etc.  project seems to be corrupt on my machine. .The project crashes continually. I cannot save my work, I cannot export, I cannot create XML and media is linking incorrectly.  When I pull the project in on my laptop (separate machine) which has CC 2014 running, the project is FINE.  That said - I need to work off of the more powerful machine to do this job - so need to find a way to troubleshoot.  Note - project opens on my partner's machine, she can save + export, etc - however the media in still linking incorrectly on her machine as well (note partner does not have the 2 plugins, beauty box and factory Pro FX) - that said, it still links to the wrong media.
We have worked out a work-arond where we pull all of the AE sequences out of Premiere and into separate AE project which has made the project workable again but we know something is WRONG and we need to fix for future ASAP.
    please help!
    thank you

  • Premiere Pro Can Capture Only One Stereo Pair?

I'm thinking of getting PPro CS 5.5, so I'm reading the Help file to learn about it first and I came across this listed under "Importing Digital Audio":
    1) "Although the DV format can record two independent stereo audio pairs, Premiere Pro can capture only one stereo pair.
It may be possible to select either stereo pair 1, stereo pair 2, or a mix of both, depending on the DV hardware you use."
Does this mean if I have 2 mic's connected to my camera, PPro can only capture 1 stereo pair or the other or a "mix" of both?  What does that mean?
Would I be able to edit both stereo pairs as separate tracks on the timeline?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Harm,
The specs on the Canon HV20 say DV can do 2  channels in 16 bit mode and 4 channels in 12 bit mode.
But I want to start using HDV, which can only do 2 channels in 16 bit mode.  HDV uses MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2, 16 bit, 48 kHz, transfer rate 384 kbps (2 channels).
The DV settings are PCM digital sound with 2 modes: 16 bit, 48 kHz/2 channels and in 12 bit mode is 32 kHz/4 channels.
Is a "stereo pair" 2 channels?

  • Forcing Premiere Pro CS6 to Index Files.

The search bar is greyed out in the Project Panel in Premiere Pro CS6. Above the search box it says (Items to index 12). How do I get Premiere Pro CS6 to index files?

I ended up closing the Premiere and re-opening it and that prompted it to index everything. My co-worker had a few pieces of media whose link was broken because she had moved the files. She had to re-link those files to get Premiere to re-index.
    Hope that helps

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 Capture not working, capturing as MP3

I'm using Project Setting of HDV and Sequence Settings of DVCProHD HD1080i 50 (this says it is the preset for Panasonic P2 cameras, mine is Sony as above but I have no other generic HDV settings).
The video plays through the Capture window fine and looks like it is capturing as .mp3
When I stop the capture the file does not appear in the Project window as I think it should.
I've gone to File > Import to bring the file back in. It is there but when I do this there is a File Import Failure message saying "there was an error decompressing audio and video"
Any help would be great I need to export the video as soon as possible.
Also, as  I have no generic HDV or Sony preset Sequence Settings if you could tell how to add them/update Premiere that would be great.
    Many thanks.

    Please help me

Exactly WHAT are you capturing, and HOW are you doing so?

  • How do I get Premiere Pro to capture in a different codec?

I have been attempting to capture footage from a Sony HVR-V1U into Premiere Pro CC 2014. I am running an HDMI cable from the camera to a BlackMagic Intensity Pro card. The only options I have are Uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2, MotionJPEG, and DVCPROHD. I want to capture directly to a DNxHD Quicktime file.
The best I have been able to manage so far is capturing to the Uncompressed 422 format, then taking it into Adobe Media Encoder, and compressing it to DNxHD100. This is okay but, it is far more time consuming, and, it leaves me with an .mxf file and a .xmf.xmp file when I'm looking to get a Quicktime file.
My OS is Windows 8.1 - I also have a BlackMagic Decklink SDI 4K installed alongside the Intensity Pro.

I have a Blackmagic Decklink Extreme HD Card. Copied All Files from Blackmagic Installation folder ( C:\Program Files (x86)\Blackmagic Design\Blackmagic Desktop Video\Premiere Support ) to appropriate folders in Premiere install folder and everything Started worked fine. Looks like a installation bug by Blackmagic. If it helps please mark as useful. thanks.

  • Using Premiere Pro 6 - Capturing HDV .mpegs - These can't be seen by other programs like Compressor?

I'm using XHA1's using a Canon HV20 to capture via FW to my IMAC with 10.7. I'm using Premiere Pro 6 and have been using Plural Eyes to do audio sync for the past year.
About 6 months ago when I upgraded to Plural Eyes 3 (which they don't support video thumbnail preview for HDV) I noticed my MPEG files created in Premiere Pro could not be opened in Compressor to change to Apple Pro Res or do anything else with.
So, what I would like to know is there a way of capturing to some other file format than .mpeg using an HDV preset in Premiere Pro? I do weddings every weekend with 3 cameras doing hour long ceremonies. So, audio sync is real important and being able to see those thumbnails would be great.
Finally, when I export my XML to the desktop and bring it back into to Premiere Pro it "squeeshes" the HDV footage into 4:3 aspect ratio. Which I then create a new Sequence, select all, copy and paste and now I have 2 sequences to keep track of.
I realize these are not earth shattering - but they would sure save precious hours over a weeks time while doing many repetive actions. Thanks for any advice.

    I have same experience/problem:
    - PluralEyes does not show HDV thumbnails
    - Windows version crashes (I tryed initial version when WIN support was added)
    - Premiere still needs XML export-import, so stereo audio becomes double mono audio
I'm still using PluralEyes version 2, which is at least working:
    - use PluralEyes Connector to export from Premiere directly, that opens PE2 and asks you which timeline you want to sync
    - when done, exit PE and it will automatickly open Premiere, import project, and highlight added bins
    - grab highlighted bins and drag them to the "new folder" icon in project bin; that will create new bin and put all imported bins/clips in to that bin.
    - open synced project and copy all clips and paste them in original timeline (where unsorted clips vere).
OPTIONAL: I do replace all clips than with original clips from project bin, just to get stereo audio back. After I replace all clips I delete added bins/clips, because Premiere duplicate all (it will add them every time you re-import clips, instead of knowing it is already imported). So just to keep premiere project file smaller, I remove doubled clips.
If I need to sync just some files I use Premiere CC built in syncer. But PluralEyes does resolve harder to understand clips and Premiere solution is limited by how many clips is capable of syncing. And it does not work with several video/audio tracks, but only two. At least in my case, if I try to sync more than two clips it is grayed out.
Yes, I'm dissapointed by PluralEyes3, because this was my main reason I bought licence, Only to now using version 2.
    regards,
    MIHAEL

  • Premiere pro cs6 capture settings/media offline

I'm trying to capture footage from my Sony HDV camera to Premiere pro cs6. After capturing it shows up in my project as an mp3 file and when I transfer to the timeline it says media offline. Can anyone please help?? When I import a file from cs5 project it says media offline also. When I import say an .flv file it works fine. I have matched the capture setting to that of cs5 so I'm rather confused...

To restore default preference settings and plug-in cache at the same time, hold down Shift-Alt (Windows) or Shift-Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting. Release the Shift-Alt keys or Shift-Option key when the splash screen appears.
Try if this works. It is weird that this happens. I have never had it with CS5+/6 both with Win7 and Win8.
