  • Why is Dynamic Link between Premiere Pro CC 2014 and After Effects CC 2014 not syncing audio changes?

When I try to use a Dyamic Link between something I've cut in Premiere and a composition in After Effects, if it is simply an audio level change it will not update in AE.  Only if I alter the Video track does it then take the changes reflected.  Any suggestions as to what is causing this?
Running Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 and After Effects CC 2014.

As Dave alludes, AfterEffects is all about the visual changes ... or at least, mostly. For changes to the audio outside of PrPro's internal controls, highly suggested you use Audition instead. It is all about the sound ... and yes, will update PrPro when used correctly.

  • How to work with Premiere Pro cs5.5 and After Effects cs5 together?

I have edited my movie in premiere pro cs5.5 and made the rough cut. In premiere, i have edited the video, put in soundtrack and foley. Now, i need to add muzzle flashes & blood splatters in some scenes and final color correction using After Effects cs5.
When i import the premiere project in AE and make the changes, and then i export it back as premiere project. When i open this prmiere project, it shows vaious kind of errors and no changes are retained that i did in AE. Also, when i import the premiere project (which has 4 different sequences) in AE, all the media that has been imported in the premiere project also opens in AE making it difficult to organize the media.
How should i work now so that i add vfx and color correction using AE cs5?
I thought of exporting the video from Premiere pro and then open the video in AE and add vfx to some scenes and color correction to the full video and render it out again. But, this is the first time i am using AE and i am not sure if this is the best way. PLEASE HELP.
Or, i could import the whole project in AE, add vfx, do color correction AND then export to video from AE. But i think, it will be better if i export the video from Premiere as it has loads of options to choose from while exporting to a movie.
The dynamic link does not work between Premiere Pro Cs5.5 and After Effects cs5. Even if it does, its not working on my pc.
All the footage is in HD and i want the final result in best quality HD too. PLEASE Help!

If you are working between After Effects and Premiere Pro but with versions that are not the same number, you need to just work with movies rendered and exported as intermediate, lossless files.
Dynamic Link only works between After Effects and Premiere Pro of the same version number, and only when they are installed as part of the same suite.

  • Why is the Nvidia GTX 680 CUDA card supported by Premiere Pro CC, and NOT After Effects CC?

Why is the Nvidia GTX 680 CUDA card supported by Premiere Pro CC, and NOT After Effects CC?

Thanks Todd for all the info.  It is much appreciated and very helpful.  On a different note, could you possibly direct me to the correct forum to fix this bug?  I am suddenly recieving a warning on my System SSD referencing Adobe Exchange.  Here is a screen grab to best explain:

  • Premiere Pro Dynamic Link to After Effects stopped working

For about 6 months my Link between Premiere Pro and After Fx is not working. Premiere Pro sends it to After FX but when it is there the composition is empty and no media has been exported, even though the PP timeline is marked as a linked compostion. Its entirely empty, the media has vanished.
Id love to fix this issue. I guess it's a reinstall???
Latest CC, 10bit BM uncompressed timeline, Maverick (though it wasnt working on snow leopard either).

Sorry guys, may have just found the problem! Just realised that somehow my CC version on my disk is not listed as downloaded in my Cloud drop down pane. So im updating it and im assuming that will fix the problem.

  • Dynamic Linking between Premiere pro cs6 CC and After Effects is shaded grey and not working.

Hi, I currently have a CC membership with everything included in the package. I have already downloaded Premiere Pro CS6 and After Effects. However, I cannot figure out why , when I right click a video clip in Premiere, the dropdown menu has the 'replace with after effects' option within the list greyed out, apparently not an option for me. I've browsed several tutorials and all of them illustrate using dynamic linking with ease as a readily available option. Can anyone help with this please?

    Thank You, Jim -
Unfortunately that specifically did not work.
Based on another comment sent to me, here is what did.
    In PProCC
File > Adobe Dynamic Link > New After Effects Composition
    In AECC
From that composition created from PPro, I imported the project (aep) initially created in AECC from another team member. Saved the file.
    Back in PProCC
File > Adobe Dynamic Link > Import After Effects Composition
    Magic.

  • Using premiere pro and replacing with after effects composition

Hi I am using premiere pro CS4.
I have created a multi camera sequence from 2 cameras, on a separate sequence. when I go to replace the time line footage with an after effects composition, after effects starts up but what I get is the footage in the after effects is from the other camera the exact time length.
what can I do to keep the correct footage from each of the cameras on the time line
    Thanks
    Rodney

I don't think that is possible at all. It may be a limitation on how multicam works. Since it doesn't produce genuinely separate clips, there is no way for AE to determine which one is actually being used currently. I would imagine, that you would have to insert the relevant snippet as a separate clip to get this working....

  • Premiere Pro CS5 AND/OR After Effects ?

    Hi guys,
I am quite new, I have only done one videoproject and that was in Premiere Pro CS4. Now I got a new machine and have both Premiere Pro CS5 and After Effects. I have started learning AE from some videos and it is quite impressing what you can do there.  So I hope I can use AE to  improve my videos.
My question is, shall I do the project in PPCS5 and then connect to AE for making special effects on clips or shall I do the whole project in After Effects ?
If I choose AE for the project, will I miss some functions from Premiere Pro?
    Many thanks in advance !
    Sven

    Thanks for that.
I also posted the same question in the After Effects Forum and got some good answers there. I got this link that is very helpful.

So now I hope I am on track again!
    Thanks again.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 vs. After Effects CS6

I would like to know which of these programs would be best for me.   I shoot video with my Canon Vixia HFS 20 HD camcorder.  I have a decent green screen studio set up in my basement.  I currently use Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 and am not happy with the poor chroma key features it has.  Is the Chroma key the same or similar on both of these programs?  I would rather spend less for Premiere Pro unless there is some really cool stuff in After Effects that would make the additional cost worth it.
I just bought a new Dell XPS 8500 desktop with a Core i7 processor, 12GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT 640 1GB GDDR5, 460 watt power supply, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and a 2TB hard drive.  I just installed a WD Black 2TB internal second hard drive.  I would be willing to upgrade the graphics card and/or RAM if it would make a noticeable difference.
I would really like some good advice on what to buy and suggestions of computer upgrades if needed.

    1. If you feel unhappy with the reply, why did you mark it as the 'correct answer'?
That just decreases the probability some other Forum users visit your thread and give you an answer you will be more satisfied with...
    2. You probably misunderstands Creative Cloud Files concept. Those 20 GB are for sharing files, they don't limit you in storing and editing footages on your hard drive, and you don't have to use it.
    3. Both PrPro and AE have sets of keying tools that can do a decent job. However, the result always depends on many factors such as set up quality, the footage quality (it's difficult to pull a good key out of highly compressed footage) and your skills. Since AE is a compositing tool, you can pull better key there out of poor quality footage via several steps (which requires investing some time on learning).
Just download trial versions of both applications and test on your own.
If you're unhappy with built-in keying tools and have some money, you can extend them with 3-rd party plug-ins (e.g. Red Giant Primatte Keyer).

  • Hardware not Supporting Premiere Pro  CS5.5 (and after effects)

Hardware: 1st generation Macbook Pro 2.0Ghz Intel Core Duo processor, 2g (maximum ) ram, 500gb hybrid SSD/7200 hard drive. Mac OS leaopard 6.6
I bought the master collection recently which includes premiere and after effects CS5.5. Pre sales I was advised by adobe that ALL macbook pros will run all these products (by an adobe customer services Advisor)
I can't load them because (as I have now learnt) that the core duo processor only supports 32 bit- I phoned technical support, many times since 15th July and was repeatedly told that ALL macbook pros can run them, it was just a case of changing my OS to 64 bit. Apple are clear that this is not the case.
Eventually I was referred to a tier 2 advisor, who asked me which processor type, and finally said it is clear that I need earlier versions to run on this and I would be contacted by email to provide a earlier 32 bit version of these 2 programs (as is supplied to windows 32 bit users). This was 2 weeks ago and I have had no response, I have phoned several times and some advisors try to start the whole process again and insisting that I should be able to install these.
Today an advisor has told me that they have checked the notes and the tier 2 advisor has advised I "need to upgrade my hardware" (ie buy a new mac !!!)
No-one will give me any phone numbers of a tier 2 advisor to discuss this or complain about it. Nor an email address.
First i want to request that adobe, having misled me, should give me earlier copies. Especially as this has already been agreed. Secondly I want to complain about the huge amount of time wasted and how I have been fobbed off.
Apologies if this is not the exact forum space for it but I cannot find the issue on FAQ so I would be very grateful if anyone can put me in touch with the right person, or if any of the moderators would know.

  • Rendering from Premiere Pro Dynamic Link vs After Effects = fast vs slow?

So I'm doing graphics for a show using a fake 3D look in Adobe After Effects CC 2014.1. In segment 1 there are about 30 fonts that display for about 3-4 seconds each. Technically it's just a bunch of 2D layers of text, not a real tricky or intensive thing.
In my Premiere timeline, things render pretty quickly in the sequence. The show is composed of RED R3D 6K files, AJA KiPro quicktime files and some AVCHD stuff. Sequence timeline is 1080i29.97 for broadcast delivery. The sequence is rendering out to ProRes422 HQ. With no graphics, even the RED 6K files render out snappy. So I've brought these new graphics in as a Dynamic Link file. When I try to render out the graphics things get SUPER slow. Inordinately so. I don't get it. I thought the new "Render and Replace" would speed things up (great feature) however that seems to make things just as slow. So now I'm rendering out of After Effects the old fashioned way (each font is a 10 second file or so) with an alpha channel. I chose the 8-bit Cineform codec w/ alpha channel. Things rendered out, as expected, very quickly. A few minutes and all 42 fonts I built were done.
So what I don't get is why render and replace is so much slower than manually rendering straight out from After Effects CC 2014.1. Based on the time stamps from a "render and replace" process I did overnight - it took about 6 hours to render out a handful of graphics. I rendered out twice the amount straight from After Effects CC 2014.1 this morning in like 5-10 minutes. Isn't render & replace basically just rendering stuff out straight from After Effects (or AME) in the background and then just popping it in your timeline? If that's what is supposed to be happening, I don't understand the discrepancy in time. I'll bring the rendered out files into Premiere and see how quickly that video renders over the original video.
I just wanted to throw this out there to see if I'm missing some obvious thing or if this is as expected behavior.

What, exact, version of CC 2014 do you have?
How long have you used AE?
    When did this problem start?
Have you tried rebooting your machine?

  • Premiere pro CC " Replace With After Effect Composition" Cinema DNG AKA CDNG  Issue

I am trying to right click on a cinema dng file and do a "replace" with After Effects Composition. When doing so it only brings in a single frame rather than the entire adjusted video clip. Does anyone know a solution or workaround? Is Adobe aware of this problem? Will they continue to support Cinema DNG files? or should we lean to another NLE? Please advise adobe.

    Thanks.
After some testing, it looks to be an After Effects issue.  The Replace command did open up AE, create a new project, import the segment of the clip I wanted, and created a proper composition with the correct duration.  It even opened up the Camera Raw adjustment panel for me to play around in.  The problem was that every frame of that 1 second long clip was identical, it was the first frame of the whole clip.
When I went into the Media Browser and opened up the same clip from the hard drive, it too opened up as the whole clip seeing only that first frame.
When I imported using a right click>Import command (exactly what we shouldn't be doing in PP with tapeless media), the clip came in properly with all frames.
So AE is acting weird with CinemaDNG files, it seems.  You may have to start out in AE and DL from there to PP.

  • Importing into Trial of Premiere Pro 5.5 and After Effects 5.5

My board of management have asked that I evaluate Premiere Pro 5.5 as a replacement for Premiere Elements 9, which we find not quite sufficient for our needs.
According to the documentation, with trial version 5.5 we should be able to import MPEG-2, .mov, .mts, .mts2 etc. which were not available in the trial of version 5. When I try to import these formats, the message, 'There was an error decompressing audio or video', or the message, 'this format is not supported' appears. I have no issue importing into Premiere Elements 9.
Should I be able to import these formats into the trial version of 5.5, it is making it impossible to fully evaluate the products without this capability
    Intel i7 930, 8Gb ram, Radeon HD 5770 1Gb, 2TB HDD

    >MPEG-2 files, the video was taken with a Cannon MiniDv
That should not be... when you do a Firewire transfer from minidv camera you SHOULD end up with DV AVI (or, in Mac land, an SD MOV file)
If you are getting mpeg2 from a firewire transfer... something is wrong

  • Having trouble getting premiere pro trimmed clips into compositions

I'm working on a TV intro mashup in the style of the tv show happy days with another editor.  I'm a complete noob with after effects.  I've never used it before for anything.  The other editor has created template in after effects of the record player with compositions of the actor intros in the center of the record and sent me the project.  He's created a composition for each character intro and I'm trying to go in and replace the clips he used as place holders with clips i've trimmed in premiere pro.
At first I was successful by dragging and dropping the premiere pro sequence into the after effects project.  Then when I looked at the sequence composition I could see the trimmed clips and could copy paste the clips I wanted into their respective intro compositions.  I noticed the first time I imported the sequence into after effects and made changes to it in premiere pro it updated in real time.  Now all of a sudden any changes I make to the premiere pro sequence no longer update in after effects.  What's weird is they do update to the extend if I watch the sequence play in the after effects viewer I can see the changes but on the timeline where the clips are laid out the changes aren't reflected and it's showing me an earlier version of the sequence.
So my two main questions are
    1) how come the time line in after effects is no longer updating the changes I make to the sequence in premiere pro?
    2) what is the easiest way to get trimmed premiere pro clips into after effects compositions?

    Question 1:
Since you're so new to AE, it's quite possible that any of a number of things happened without you being aware of it. That and you haven't given much information for troubleshooting. I mean, we don't even know the rough versions you're using, much less minor version numbers. (For example, we don't know if you're using CC 2014, much less if you're running the 13.2 update for AE or not.) Here's some info we would need to help: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/961743
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/961743
    Question 2:
You can choose File>Import Premiere Pro Project and it'll bring the clips in. It won't update at all, but it will give you the clips you need in a way that's easier to deal with in AE.
Alternatively, you can choose to dynamically link a Premiere Project (which sounds like what you initially did). In most cases, I prefer the first way.
Since you've never used AE before, there are going to be a lot of things that frustrate you if you try to plow ahead without a knowledge of the basics. I strongly recommend going through the resources linked here: Getting started with After Effects Granted, there is an extensive set of resources there, but that's because AE is such a deep and complex program. Without a foundation in the basics, you are going to just keep on being frustrated.
