Premiere Pro CC crash after importing Media

Hello,
I'm using the trial version of Premiere Pro CC. I've used it for this week without any problem importing just pictures.
Today I've imported videos and suddenly it started to crush after each importation. Now I can't import even pictures anymore.
I've checked on the forum and I've noticed that sometimes the problem is fixed just changing from General and change the GPU Acceleration to Mercury Playback Engine (software only), but it doesn't work for me.
Windows 7 Professional
Processor - Intel Core i5 4570S
I work with deadlines so I would really appreciate some help

For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
•-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself
•nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
•ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool
-and a fix for at least "some" ATI crashes https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1553342

Premiere Pro CC crashes when importing media. Every time. Driving me crazy.
It crashes as soon as the Windows dialogue box comes up.
Does it in new projects and in a project I created and imported into just fine 2 days ago.
    Have rebooted.
Running Windows 8.1 on Samsung Series 5 ultrabook Intel i5 - not too sure what else to say about other settings:
I did have a problem the other day when Windows was crashing when browing a large folder of largish  images and video clips but it went away when I put images and videos in separate folders.

    Thanks for reply.
Point taken but I've been using it for over a year for simple edits (5 min films) in PPCC just fine. Can't even do what I could do the other night now.
Simple folder with a few jpegs and movies in it. In fact it just crashes before I even got to another folder.

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes after 'loading media'

Last week I had to swap my media from one HDD to another.
When next loading up the project Premiere crashed right after the 'loading media' bar was complete.
No panels or anything opened up like expected. And premiere became completely unresponsive.
I went back to using the origional HDD but I still had the same problem.
My soultion was to create an entirely new project and import my media again.
Today the same thing has happened except I never moved the footage off of the HDD.
The second project now hangs after 'loading media' too.
Other projects where all the files are on my internal HDD are fine.
Ne error report is generated and I have a small chance of being able to open task manager to shut down Premiere. Usually I have to pull the plug to turn it off as it seems to be using 100% of my Disk usage.
Everything is up to date (6.0.5) and I am running Windows 8 (sorry not sure what information you need :/ )
Any help would be hugely appreciated!

  • Premiere Pro CC crashing after opening autosave project

    PP CC crashes quite often.
Working since weeks on a 60-minute-documentary with mixed footage (4K XAVC / Canon XF / XDcam HD 422).
Because of the many crashes (5-10 per day) I´ve have to reopen / restore many times autosave-projects.
Not a good idea: because most projects are corrupt.
At least when I try to integrate the whole project into a new one.
Importing just the sequence into a new project works fine - but I also need my sorted BINS (structure, files, etc.)
    What can I do?

Sorry to hear that. Please check out this doc: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
You also might try the following:
Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
    Delete media cache
    Delete preview files
    Remove plug-ins
If you have AMD GPUs, make sure CUDA is not installed
    Repair permissions
In Sequence Settings > Video Previews, change the codec to one that matches your footage
    Disconnect any third party hardware
If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCL
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot
Report back if anything here worked for you.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 crashing when importing HDV Video

For some reason I keep getting crashes when importing HDV (720p60) video into the timeline of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.  This has happened on two different machines, with similar specs.
Per the suggested guidelines, here are the specifics:
    Version of Premiere Pro: CS6, Version 6.0.5 (001 (MC:264587))
    All updates have been installed.
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.8.5.
Source footage: HDV 720p60 video in .MOV container.
Full text of error message: "Sorry, a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down.  We will attempt to save your current project."
Link to full crash report: http://goo.gl/Gn8Bzn
Crash occurs when trying to import HDV .MOV file.
This is a consistent problem when importing .MOV files of this type.
Complete Adobe Creative Suite is installed.  Also using Episode Pro encoding software from Telestream to prepare HDV video.  No other external video hardware or codecs installed.
Yes, I am using the Mecury Playback Engine GPU acceleration.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me figure this one out.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Crashes When Importing HD Clips

I've used Camtasia forever but recently decided to "upgrade" to Premiere Pro when I got my new Macbook.  Not being familiar with Premiere at all, I thought I would play with it with a few short clips.  I have HD footage of my martial arts class which I shot with my Canon Vixia HG20 and copied it to my Macbook.  However, when I imported a few clips into Premiere Pro and try to play it, it hangs.  It will play one or two clips and then it stops responding after that.
All in all, it's only about 2 minutes of footage that I've put into Premiere Pro.  I have no problems putting the clips into the Timeline but when I try to preview the clips (either in the source monitor or the program monitor windows), Premiere Pro gives me the little rainbow pinwheel and 20 minutes later, it's still spinning around.  I bought a 500Gb external hard drive to use as the scratch disk because I thought maybe it was a space issue having everything on my Macbook but I still get the pinwheel.  My only solution is to force quit the program.
I have a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro on OS X (10.5.6) with 4GB of memory, GeForce 8600M graphics card, and 200GB hard drive.  I've read about a of of the crashes on here but didn't really see anything similar to my situation.  Any ideas?  I spent a lot on Premiere Pro and am not willing to give up on it  quite yet.
    Please and thank you!

17 Mbps is still at the high end, but IMHO they should ultimately work.
Very often with AVCHD, you have to play a clip until it freezes, then wait.  If you monitor CPU usage during the waiting time, you'll see that it is quite active.  The process using the CPU is the ImporterProcessServer, which has to do some kind of magical stuff to the AVCHD clips in order for them to play and scrub in Pr.  Once the IPS is done, you should be able to scrub and play the clip just fine.
Usually you only have to do this once per clip, but sometimes more.  Sometimes the work that the IPS does carries over between Pr sessions, and sometimes it doesn't.
Smaller frame sizes and lower bit rates in AVCHD video helps make the editing experience in Pr much better.
My hope is that the upcoming 4.1 update will address some of these AVCHD issues.

  • Premiere Pro CC crash when dragging media from project window

I have had so many problems with CC (2014) since the 8.1 update. The latest problem is interacting with media in the project window. In any version of PP (7, 8.0.1, 8.1), when I attempt to drag media from the project window to the timeline i get the "Premiere Pro CC has encountered a serious error..." crash. I am running a Macbook Pro i7, 16gb of ram, Nvidia GT 750m graphics card, on OSX Yosemite. I have tried clearing the media cache and clearing settings on startup with alt+shift. I have been using 8.0.1 because of previous problems with serious ui lag on 8.1. I have had more problems with PP in the last 3 months, than in the previous 7 years I've used it.

    Hi Huzzahbeard,
Just out of curiosity. How is it that your software is hindered by a plugin in Chrome. I .... I have no words. This solved my problem and thats great except. Push Bullet is the issue! No, what is premiere even doing with my browser that push bullet would cause problems.
I looked at our bug database and there is no real "reason" listed as to why this particular issue occurs (and it does affect a couple of our other non-video applications—InDesign and Illustrator, as well).
A common troubleshooting step for when things go wrong with an application is to remove any recently installed applications or plug-ins. As I understand it, certain applications share resources which can affect each other. Since Chrome extensions are created using Javascript, I assume that is the area of conflict.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Premiere Pro CS6 crashing after RAM upgrade

I just got Premiere Pro almost a week ago after using FCP for years. I was just getting accustomed to it and thought I would upgrade my RAM to help Dynamic Link run smoother. I doubled it from 4 GB to 8 GB today and now Premiere Pro crashes either immediately or after about 20 minutes. My computer is a 2009 Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz. The new ram is from OWC.com. I ran a RAM test in Tech Tools and it passed as having no problems. Can anyone suggest anything? I would hate to have to go back to 4 GB and be limited to that.

    UPDATE:
This problem is not fixed at all. I went about 2 hours without a crash then had about 5 of them in a row. I have been reading everywhere trying to find a place to start. A full system rebuild and reinstall would take me a day or 2 that I don't have. The crashes happen any time, sometimes at startup, sometimes when I'm editing, sometimes when I am not doing anything. I get the "serious error" message and sometimes just get a "quit unexpectedly" along with this log:

    Hi Jim,
I'm exporting Media into a file format suitable for Vimeo.  The interesting thing is that when exporting directly from Premiere Pro CC v7.2.1, I experienced the crash, but when I queued the job in AME, it ran to completion.  Trying to export directly from within PPro again causes it to crash, this time flagging ImporterREDServer.exe as the abending application.
    Thanks.

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when importing .scc file

Hi all! Trying to use closed captioning features in Premiere Pro CC, and every time I try to import a .scc file (Created with Movie Captioner), Premiere crashes with a general error.
I've tried creating captions with Unix line breaks, and Windows line breaks, and I get the same result.
I'm on Mac OS10.7, if that has any bearing, and running on an 8 core Mac Pro with 24GB ram.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The file is malformed,  look at this line:

There's an illegal character ('-') where you see "-207".  So all of the data is offset by one spot.
So change that line to the following and it should work:

  • Premiere Pro Consistently Crashes when Importing

I'm trying to run Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 on my laptop, but whenever I import video it locks up my computer to the point where a restart is necessary. This problem was present when I was running CS5 so I upgraded hoping this would fix the problem but alas, it did not. I then tried running Movie maker and that also failed along with After Effects. I've tried MPEG, MP4 and WMVs, all failed. I'm running a computer inline with the recommended specs for all three of these programs. Thats mean Windows 7, i7 Sandy Bridge. I'm told it is an error in the video codec but idk what that means. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps and of course, points to the best answer.

Anytime you buy a laptop from anywhere that is legit, they are required by law to place the win 7 code on the machine itself. That is microsoft's rule for all OEM's. Since you bought it from best buy I'm assuming they must have followed the rule every PC has to have a certificate of authenticity (It's generally on a sticker on the machine itself for laptops it's usaully on the underside). However when OEM's don't place the sticker on the machine itself they are required to provide you with the windows install disc OR a custom version of the recovery disc that has a OS only option. The sticker should be with this disc. They are literally required by microsoft to provide one of these things. If they didn't they can get in serious trouble.
However if you can't find this stuff you can also use this key finder program to find your key as well.
    http://download.cnet.com/Product-Key-Finder/3001-2094_4-10694022.html?spi=2d10c46fbc4b92e3 37302219a0d432a5&dlm=0
I have used this program many times before to find windows key's I assure you it works. It will actually search any key on your system and let you know it.
The final option is to uninstall all your adobe related software, and then use the adobe cleaner utility. However I'd recommend doing the above but I realize a lot of people don't like the idea of wiping the system. So technically you can try this and see if it works, but I'm not extremely confident that it will. Although it does have a decent chance too. After you use the adobe cleaner tool you can try to re-install it and try your luck again. If that doesn't work though you might end up having to do the above. Here is a link to the cleaner tool.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 crashes after installing Microsoft DirectX

It looks like I just made the biggest mistake of installing Microsoft DirectX causing Premiere Pro CS4 to crash. When I create a new project and a new sequence to open it crashes. I submit a report and try it again and it crashes again and again. I uninstalled just Premiere Pro CS4 (I have the Production Premium Suite) and now the installer hangs up at the system check. I'm using WinXp 32bit 2.6 Quad Core Nvidia GeForece 8800 GTS 512.

    Deacon,
Along with the DirectX update, did you install anything else?
After your installation of the DirectX update, did you also update your video and your audio drivers? If not, that would be my first thing to try. Both of those drivers can be rendered obsolete in a heartbeat, and because PrPro interfaces more closely with those, than nearly any other program, it will fail, while simple players, etc. still function.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
