  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC Crashes on startup after upgrading to new computer monitors

Hey everybody, I am tech-savvy so go ahead and throw detailed answers at me. I recently updated to Windows 8.1 because Premiere Pro CC (version 7.2.1) crashed on startup in Windows 8. After the update to Win8.1, it worked fine with my old 19in. VGA full-screen monitors. However, after I installed new HD wide-screen monitors yesterday, I opened Premiere Pro and it started up just fine and is stable until it processes a video file. If I'm fast enough, it will successfully import a file from the media browser, but as soon as it "processes" the video in the media browser or the video in the timeline, Windows gives me the error "Adobe Premiere Pro CC has encountered an error and must be shut down". I tried every trick in the book- including changing the monitor refresh rate down from 144Hz to 60Hz, tried using an HDMI cable instead of DVI-D, and tried reinstalling Premiere Pro (restarting the computer at the proper points in the process), and tried setting it to render using no GPU acceleration (Mercury software only). Nothing seems to work. Below are the specs on my computer:
CPU: AMD FX-8120, GPU: Dual AMD HD Radeon 6670's 1GB GDDR3 each outputting to its own monitor via DVI-D Dual Link, Monitors are ASUS VG248QE 24" running 1920x1080p resolution @ 144Hz, 7200RPM Western Digital HDD.

I had this same problem on my HP laptop that has two video cards. I had to dissable the Intel 4000 in order to get Premiere CC to function. However, once this one done, it was no longer possible to use the external monitor (even when I closed the lid, it simply would not recognize the external monitor). Thus, each time I'm using Premiere CC then I have to disconnect the monitor and use device managre in Win8.1 to dissable Intel. It's really a huge pain in the arse. Also, I do not have an option to choose to choose a second monitor in Win8 once the Intel is dissabled. I've updated both drivers - so, I guess that's the only solution there is for my laptop. I'd suggest not using this software with a HP laptop that has two graphics cards.

  • Premiere pro CS4 crashes at startup

    Hi,
My Premiere pro CS4 crashes upon startup every time i run it.
    My system:
    Vista Business 64bit
    Intel Duo Core 2 2.6ghz
    4gb ddr2 ram
    NVidia GeForce 9600M GT
I have tried running the program as an administrator, removing all plugins, and reinstalling.
I've attached my crash repport, can anyone please help.
    - MJ

I tried the QT thing with no joy and I was using the 7.5.5 build.
I've already listed my system, but here it is again: Asus Maximus Extreme, intel q6600, 4gigs DDR3 1600mhz, 8800 gtx oc, 3x750gigs.
Deficient? Hardly since my 2.2 duelcore, 3gigs ddr2 geforce 8600m gt laptop ran it fine.
As to hardware Premiere pro CS4 is the only program my rig has an issue  with After Effects CS4 ect works fine as does Premiere pro 2, but thats useless as I use AVCHD files.
I'm not sure what you mean by assets (my rig doesn't have any savings )
Project/Sequence settings I don't have any because I've just installed cs4 on this system.
Operator Error? Click on an icon Premiere pro CS4 loads without the welcome box it just bings when you try to use it.  Can't see how it could be me, but I'd love to admit it was if i could get it working.

  • Premiere Pro CC Crashes on startup

Hi, I'm using a Mac OS X 10.9.2, and premiere pro keeps crashing every time I try to start up today. The other creative cloud programs all work, just premiere pro. There are no updates as far as I can tell. I've tried restarting. Any suggestions?

    johnEight,
Your Prefs to the trash worked here.. I though i had done that, but i guess i didn't trash all the Adobe Prefs, only the Premiere Pro ones.
There must be a hidden pref in ther somewhere.. at this point, It doesn't matter, Adobe PPro CC works. now i'll check to see if my CS6 works.
As a side, i didn't remove all the files from the Application Support. That one woories me, as those files are supposed to be dependent ont he user settings, (like PRefs) those are what the program needs to run. I guess if you're reistalling at this point, it doesn't hurt. I just didn't want to reset everything.. But i guess i may have anyway by thrashing all the prefs.. Uh boy..
    Thanks anyway..

  • Why is Premiere Pro CC crashing on startup?

    Hi,
Premiere Pro CC crashes right after it starts to load a project, whether a new one or an existing one. It worked for a moment right after I had installed it, but when I closed it and tried to open it again, it started to shut down with no error message. Same goes for Photoshop CC. I tried Premiere Pro CS6 but it's the same thing with that also.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall many times. I updated drivers for the video card and installed even a new video card. I signed out of Creative Cloud and signed back in many times. Nothing seems to help.
My computer is a Lenovo ThinkStation E30 and the video card is Radeon HD 6450 with the lates drivers.
Please help me! I'm in the middle of a video production and in a bit of a panic right now. I already wasted two days trying to figure this out.

    Hi TimiL,
    Welcome to the forums,
Please mention the OS that you have. If it is win 7 then go to device manager, display adapters and instead of updating automatically, select "browse my computer for driver software", then select " let me choose from a list of device drivers on my computer" and choose standard vga graphics adapter.  It will change the resolution of your screen so change the resolution bu right clicking on the desktop>screen resolution. After this step launch the product and check if you are able to launch the product.
    Regards,
    Vinay

This happens every time I open Premiere Pro CC. I have not been able to find any info online about this. Premiere Pro CC works fine on my desktop but for some reason it hates my laptop.
Premiere Pro CS6 works just fine on my laptop, I've never had a problem with it. Any help on this would be great. I have already tried running the CC cleaner script and that did nothing. Thanks.

Come On ADOBE, I just signed up for the creative cloud to get Premeire and this is what I get? a day of fudging around trying to make your software work only to find that you introduced a bug into the software for a GT 650M graphics card?
My problem is identical...I have upgraded the drives to the graphics card on my laptop and it still crashes.  If I make the Nvidia card the preferend card for premeire it will crash on start up.  If I set the integrated intel 4000 card as the prefered card it will start up but crash within 10 seconds...
Whatever is going on, I need something that works...can you make an older version available in the mean time while this gets sorted out?
    PLEASE FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Crashes on startup

    Hey All.
Iv been using premiere pro cs4 on a windows XP based machine for a while but i decided to upgrade to a new windows 7 and iv been having problems with Premiere pro.
All my other programs work fine from the CS4 Production Premuim Package (well the ones i tried) its just premiere pro.
Most of the time it crashes on startup but after trying 5 or 6 times i can get in and use it. but the next time i come to use it, it crashes another handfull of times before it lets me in,
One of the points i managed to find before it crashed a few times was "LOADING aaf.prm", That seems to be where its frozen most.
Any help would be much apreciated.
    Thanks

When you right click, select Properties at the bottom of the popup window
Another window will popup, where you may select the Compatibility tab

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes on startup! (Still no solution!)

Whenever I open Premiere Pro CC Trial, it says "Premiere Pro CC has stopped working"
I looked around the internet and found a solution that was working for many people, to download the latest AMD drive. So I went and downloaded the AMD 14.4 drive, and the program still crashes on startup.
I've also tried running as administrator, logging out and in, and making the program compatible with Windows 7, in the properties, the same problem occurs each time.
How do I fix this problem?
What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).
I don't know because I can't open it, I downloaded it on May 22nd, and it says up to date in CC.
Have you installed the recent updates? (If not, you should. They fix a lot of problems.)
In CC it says up to date.
What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac".
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
What kind(s) of source footage? When telling about your source footage, tell us about the codecs, not just the container types. For example, "H.264 in a .mov container", not just "QuickTime".
The footage I am attempting to edit is a .avi clip from Fraps, but that doesn't matter.
If you are getting error message(s), what is the full text of the error message(s)?
I'm not getting any messages from Adobe, but from Windows; "Adobe Premiere Pro CC has stopped working" and "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem"
What were you doing when the problem occurred?
Nothing at all, no windows open.
    Has this ever worked before?
I have not had it before.
What other software are you running?
    None.
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed?
    No
Tell us about your computer hardware. Be especially certain to tell us about third-party I/O hardware (e.g., AJA, Matrox, Blackmagic, MOTU).
    Model: Alienware M14XR2Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) i7-3630QM CPU@ 2.40 GHz 2.40 GHz, Memory/RAM: 8 GB, 7.88 GB usableSystem: 64-bit operating system, Windows 7 Home Premium
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration?
    Probably not.
Does the problem only happen with your final output, with previews, or both?
    I can't open the program.

  • Premiere Pro keeps crashing on startup.

    Hi, there.
So, I've just installed a fresh version from Premiere Pro CC from the Creative Cloud and I keep getting the "Premiere Pro has stopped working" upon the loading screen.
I've searched and I've updated my graphic drivers, my intel graphic drivers, I've reinstalled a lot of times and I even tried running into compability mode and it keeps crashing. I'm kinda getting a bit desperate since I gotta finish editing a work this weekend.
Anyone got any other options I could try?
    Thank you.

I went to Event Viewer logs and got this:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC Crashing Upon Startup

Hello, this is my first post on this forum and I am doing this because I have a reoccurring problem:
Whenever I start up Premiere Pro CC, it does one of two things: 1. Stops responding at the startup screen and I am forced to close it.  or  2. It gets to the "New Project" screen, and when I click anything, it stops responding and I am forced to close the program.
    - I have a Windows 8 Intel Core i7-3630GM CPU @2.4GHz.  8 GB RAM.  x64-based processor.
    - I installed Premiere Pro CC (newest version directly from the Creative Cloud application) from the Creative Cloud (which I purchased within the past week).
    - I tried reinstalling the program three times, each time trying to save it to a different location, and the problem still persists.
    - The error message just says "Abobe Premiere Pro has stopped working" and then just suggests the normal pointless "If Windows finds a solution to the problem...etc"
I would like to recieve help for this problem because I need to use this software very soon in the future.
    Thank You!

1st, Go to http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere and, in the area just under Ask a Question, type in
    crash on startup
You may now read previous discussions on this subject... be sure to click the See More Results at the bottom of the initial, short list if the initial list does not answer your question
2nd, What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

  • Premiere Pro CS5 crash on startup

Before I was having a problem with cs5 crashing, I uninstalled and reinstalled the master collection, then updated everything. Premiere Pro cs5 seemed to work fine, I was jumping in my seat with the new mercury engine and how fast it was compared to cs4, but now today I come back to find out its crashing again on startup
    I have 5.0.2 installed
On the side note Photoshop (even with its latest update) crashes on type tool
    Running latest OSX
Tried changing permissions, reinstalling, everything! For now I guess i'll have to use cs4

    hi.. DigitalRicky,
did you ever come to a solution for this?
I believe I am having the same or simular problem.
im on a mac .. 10.5.8 with enought disk spack.. about 50gb
    have downloaded update for primiere.
    two things are happening
1.freezes/stalls/doesn't respond on opening program.. I have to force quit it or on some occasions it just quits itself. this occurs on new and exsisiting projects.
    2.  on 3 occasions after i had fiddled around with deleting preferences, i have been able to edit .. however no unable to add footage as the second i trie to add footage to timeline it stalls/freezes/does not respond.  then i have a world of hurt and can't re open.. back to problem 1.
what trouble shooting i have done..
    1. uninstall/reinstall
    2. run no other software etc.
    3. Documents>Adobe>AdobeProductName (like Premiere Pro)  Inside of this, there is a folder with a number (usually 4.0 for CS4).  Take that to the trash and restart your application. -> this is where i can start old project but not a new one..
    4. run disk utility on comp
    5. re start comp etc
im not to sure on what else i can do ..
I would GREATLY appreciate any help.
    thanks heaps!

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Crashes on Startup on Mac

    Hi,
I have installed Master Collection CS5 on a MacBook Pro (late 2009) Mac OSX 10.6..4 (4GB RAM) with all Apple updates applied as at 26.8.2010  , Photoshop & Illustrator work fine , Premiere Pro & Soundbooth CS5 repeatedly crash when starting up & have never worked since installing.
I have lodged this problem with Adobe Tech Support.
One typical  error message is "/Scully64/shared/adobe/MediaCore/ASL/Foundation/Make/Mac/../..Src/Di r ectoryRegistry.cpp-283" on launching Premiere Pro Cs5r aniother might be " No client name has encountered an error" or "Premiere Pro has encountered an error"
I have uninstalled CS5 , used the CS5 Cleanup tool , reinstalled Master Collection CS5 (several times) the only existing  Admin user account , repaired Mac hard drive Disk Permissions ( in Disk Utility) , & checked /repaired any Font errors/duplications all with no luck.
Does anyone have an answer ?
    Thanks,
    Rick

I don't recognize those error messages, but you should try installing the recent Premiere Pro update, which fixes several crashing problems.
When you have updated Premiere Pro CS5, let us know whether your problem is fixed.
See this page for details about the Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.2) update:

  • Premiere Pro CS4 crashing in startup

I have Premiere Pro CS4 on a Dell Precision m6400.  When I start up and try to start new project when not on network, it crashes.  Even though I go in and change all file information to C: drive.  The only message I am receiving is "Sorry a serious error has occurred that requires ...to shut down.  We will attempt to save your current project."  If there is a crash report I don't know where to find it.  PrePro works on network.  I just need to know what to fix so that I can work from home.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your My Documents folder mapped to a network drive?
As Craig mentions, running PrPro on a network can be problematic. Much will depend on exactly the configuration of the network.
    Good luck,
