Premiere Pro CC Crashes when I Open a project

The title explains it all. I just bought Adobe Creative Cloud and I'm not sure how to check errors or logs, but basically the app will open and go to the Welcome Window, but when I make a new project or open an existing one the program crashes.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
I have updated drivers for my Graphics card (nVidia)
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Premiere Pro CC (7.1.0)
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (Service Pack 1)

Happens when I try to open a project in AE/PP or just open Photoshop/Dreamweaver/Speedgrade
This has never worked with Creative Cloud on my Windows PC. CS6 works.

  • Premiere Pro CC crash when dragging media from project window

I have had so many problems with CC (2014) since the 8.1 update. The latest problem is interacting with media in the project window. In any version of PP (7, 8.0.1, 8.1), when I attempt to drag media from the project window to the timeline i get the "Premiere Pro CC has encountered a serious error..." crash. I am running a Macbook Pro i7, 16gb of ram, Nvidia GT 750m graphics card, on OSX Yosemite. I have tried clearing the media cache and clearing settings on startup with alt+shift. I have been using 8.0.1 because of previous problems with serious ui lag on 8.1. I have had more problems with PP in the last 3 months, than in the previous 7 years I've used it.

    Hi Huzzahbeard,
Just out of curiosity. How is it that your software is hindered by a plugin in Chrome. I .... I have no words. This solved my problem and thats great except. Push Bullet is the issue! No, what is premiere even doing with my browser that push bullet would cause problems.
I looked at our bug database and there is no real "reason" listed as to why this particular issue occurs (and it does affect a couple of our other non-video applications—InDesign and Illustrator, as well).
A common troubleshooting step for when things go wrong with an application is to remove any recently installed applications or plug-ins. As I understand it, certain applications share resources which can affect each other. Since Chrome extensions are created using Javascript, I assume that is the area of conflict.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when I import CS6 project files

I recently upgraded to CC, but every time I try to import my project file from Premiere Pro CS6 into Premiere Pro CC it crashes, or stops working if you like.
This is very irritating as I wanted to make use of the SpeedGrade workflow in the CC packaged between Premiere Pro CC.
My project file is no longer than 1 minute, however is does contain After Effects CS6 compositions, could this possible cause the crash? I have tried to import without these but it still stops working for some reasons.
Also I have no idea where to find the error log for crashes on Adobe software.

I have experienced similar crashes and timeline playback failure when importing a CS6 project into CC or CC 2014. I had to rebuild two projects by hand before I realized it was a bug in CC converting the CS6 project files to CC project files. I don't think this has been addressed yet, but I have had better luck starting projects from scratch in CC, not cross-converting a CS6 project. Although I'm still experiencing issues with multicam projects in CC 2014.
Curious to hear others chime in on this.

  • Premiere Pro crashes when I open my project because the cursor is stuck on a time-lapse sequence

I have a Time-lapse sequence which I have just built and saved the project of, but my cursor has stopped on the time-lapse sequence. Premiere Pro does crashes when I open my project because the cursor is stuck on the time-lapse sequence.
My project was saved in Premiere Pro with the cursor stuck on my new time-lapse sequence. Now, Premiere Pro crashes when I try to open the project....Please help URGENTLY?

    >It may be a corrupt font, but I have thousands installed. Is there any way to test for that?
Reply #8 was specifically to address this question.
    >I basically wanted to know if this is a 3.2.0 issue or not.
That's not what you asked. Perhaps asking a specific question will get you closer to a specific answer?
The titler does not crash for me at any stage of the Adobe updates for Premiere Pro, including 3.2.
    Cheers
    Eddie

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when importing media.

Premiere Pro CC crashes when importing media. Every time. Driving me crazy.
It crashes as soon as the Windows dialogue box comes up.
Does it in new projects and in a project I created and imported into just fine 2 days ago.
    Have rebooted.
Running Windows 8.1 on Samsung Series 5 ultrabook Intel i5 - not too sure what else to say about other settings:
I did have a problem the other day when Windows was crashing when browing a large folder of largish  images and video clips but it went away when I put images and videos in separate folders.

    Thanks for reply.
Point taken but I've been using it for over a year for simple edits (5 min films) in PPCC just fine. Can't even do what I could do the other night now.
Simple folder with a few jpegs and movies in it. In fact it just crashes before I even got to another folder.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 crash when adjusting audio gain

Premiere Pro CS5 crash when adjusting audio gain
    The same on another workstations.
    Have any idea?

    Hi Dennis,
I just had a go and can reproduce the problem straight away too.
Created a new project then a new XDCAM EX 1080p25 sequence. Imported a short Sony PMW-350 clip. Dragging it straight to the timeline and then setting audio gain is OK (Source channel mapping preferences set to mono).
However, if I Modify - Audio Channels and then set track format as stereo or mono as stereo and then drag the clip to the timeline and right click - gain, Premiere crashes about 1/2 to 1 second after the audio gain dialogue box appears. Error log below if it's useful.
    Asus Rampage III extreme
    Intel i7 980x @ 3.33GHz
    24Gb ram
    Windows 7 64 bit
Using onboard sound - Realtek HD 6.0.1.6037
Incidentally, I tried with both the default Windows 7 audio drivers and then the Realtek HD drivers installed (I'd previously forgotten to install the Realtek driver when I built the PC)

  • Premiere Pro keeps crashing when using overwrite (.) shortcut in Source Monitor

When editing a clip in the source monitor and then using the (.) key to overwrite the clip onto my timeline Premiere Pro keeps crashing. If I select the Timeline window and then press the (.) key it works fine, but if the Source Monitor is highlighted and I press (.) it crashes every time and shows these windows:

    [/Volumes/BuildDisk/builds/mightykilt/shared/

It saves my current project as a copy, which is good, but I've now ended up with lots of copies of the same project as it keeps on crashing. In order to work I have to make sure that the Timeline is highlighted before I use the shortcut. It makes for very precarious and tense editing!

I'm using a MacBookPro 15", OS X 10.8.4 and editing footage filmed at 24fps 1920x1080 on my Canon 550D/T2i. All .MOV files.
I purchased my software from iSoftware.co.uk. I'm worried that could be the problem.
Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

A crash with a very similar error message was fixed in the new CC release. The bug report in that case involved creating a multi-cam sequence, so it might not be directly related.
If you have a chance to download the CC trial, we'd be interested to know whether the crash remains in the new version.

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when editing audio- any solutions?

Adobe Premiere Pro CC crashes nearly every time I try to edit audio, keyframe it in certain spots, etc, etc, with the error message that there has been an "unexpected problem" and the program must "force quit." Sometimes my work is saved, sometimes it isn't. And then I have to re-name my saved file, so I often end up with upwards of 15 different project files because I cannot edit audio without this program crashing. I see I'm not the only one--what is Adobe doing to fix this bug-riddled program? It's impossible to get anything done!
I'm using this program on a MAC, 6-Core Intel Xeon Processor. MAC OS X Lion 10.7.5.
I'm ready to lose my mind.

I am having a very similar experience.....I have been working in Adobe Premiere Pro for well over 8 years and have always had issues with crashes when working with audio files, keyframing, transition placement, trimming and so on. I have had nightmares with some projects that I am having crashes every change I do and it seems once you get an issue with a project it only gets worst. I have worked on a number of different systems in regards to hardware and get the same issues, OS has been Windows 7 64bit for number of years. I would have expected Adobe to have been able to smooth this out by now but it just keeps rearing its ugly head when I`m on a deadline crunch.
I try to never work with Mp3s and always request wav but it doesn't seem to matter in the long run.
Just wanted to let you know you are not the only one and I am having a serous issue with this problem once again!
Please help Adobe....audio is an issue with Premiere Pro for a lot of us....thanks!

i was working on this text animation 2 days ago. spent 7 hours on it! restarting is not an option.
now when i open the project AE keeps crashing at 96%.
on the school computers so it shouldn't have anything to do with that.
was opening from an external drive, but copied the file to the D drive and neither will open. switched computers same thing. cleared cache.
why is it doing this? how can i fix it?
how do i find a crash log? (i dont know how to do that)
it was working fine just 2 days ago:(
    opens other projects just fine

actually i fgured it out after searching the internet high and low.
i was using dynamic link, and i think maybe that was causing the problem (even though i think it shouldn't) maybe i should have had premiere open first before AE???
but i fixed it by changing the name of the folder the footage was in, and then opening the project and relinking the files.

  • Premiere Pro CC - Crash when opening because of network disk cache

I have had premiere fail to open for a while now on one of my secondary PC's. This computer was setup with a network drive as its disk cache/links to projects.
This is so multiple editors can work off the same RAID. Works perfectly, aside from the fact that windows somehow unlinked the network drive. Once this happened premiere fails to launch and crashes when starting the program.
I had got the network drive linked back up at one point and premiere launched again running with zero problems. Again windows messed up the network drive, and premiere again, does not work.
I need to reset the settings for premiere (the disk cache settings).
    THINGS I'VE ALREADY TRIED:
I already tried holding Ctrl + Shift to reset, did not work.
I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the settings were not removed and program keeps crashing.
I would just relink the network drive and then once premiere launches change the disk cache and never do that again, but sadly the computer will not relink to that partical drive.
Let me know if you need any more details,
I'm running windows 8, latest version of CC (just updated). I have 32gig Ram, I7 processor overclocked to 4.4GHz, Nvidia Graphics.
    Thanks much

    Hey there!
Well now your post is over one year old but recently I had the same problem.
Solution was what you were thinking: Redirect the path. But where??? I searched the registry and there you have it:
    Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Common 8.0\Media Cache
There's a key called FolderPath. Set that to a local drive and Premiere should start again.
btw adobe: that's really a bad bad bug or misbehaviour. if something is not working software should ask for another solution instead of just crash...

  • Premiere Pro CC crashes when browsing/importing video files.

I've got a trial version of Premiere Pro CC installed today, running on a late 2012 iMac.
No problems during splash screen or project startup, but when I try browsing for a video file in the import box or attempt to drag and drop files from my local disk, a Premiere prompt says a fatal error has occured and shuts down. I haven't experienced this problem on other PCs/Macs.
The files I've tried all run smoothly when opened by VLC or QuickTime. Extensions tried so far: .avi, .mkv, .3ggp.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB
    3,2 GHz Intel Core i5
    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
If there are codec issues, trial version limitations or these types of files are not supported I would hope PP would say so instead of crashing abruptly?
Any help appreciated, I'm not an editing guru.

Premiere does not have trial limitations.
If vlc plays the files is no garantee Premiere will.
    Premiere does not support mkv.
Premiere only supports dv-avi and 3gp.

  • Premiere Pro CS3 crashes when exporting to Encore CS3

"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down.  We will attempt to save your current project."
That is the error message.  I am editing an AVCHD project in which I already converted as an .mpg prior to importing into Premiere (since CS3 does not import AVCHD natively).  This is the first time I am doing this workflow, as a client has given me AVCHD files to work with.  The project RT is 1 hr 2 min.  I need to create a DVD and Blu-ray of this project.
    System Specs
    ~Processor:  AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core Processor 2.30GHz
    ~RAM:  4.00 GB
    ~OS:  Windows Vista 32-bit
~Have the most recent updates for all CS3 programs
    I tried:
    Exporting to Encore
~Tried various settings for DVD.  NTSC Progressive Widescreen High Quality, Medium, etc.
~Tried the preset for exporting Blu-ray to Encore.
~Created a new sequence with about 7 min of the project to see if it was a corrupt file; same results.
    Using Adobe Media Encoder
~Used various presets and custom settings with the same result [error message; Premiere "stops working" and then crashes]
~Created a new sequence with about 7 min of the project to see if it was a corrupt file; same results.
I observed the Windows Task Manager when Premiere is opened and then when it crashes.  The RAM is at 1.12GB before the project is opened, goes up to 2.17GB when it is opened, and remains about the same when it crashes.  The CPU Usage is about 4-10% before the project is opened, spikes dramatically (+/- 10-80%) when Premiere is opened as well when it crashes.
I appreciate any and all help.  Thank you to everybody in advance who will contribute a solution to my problem!

  • AppStore version of Premiere Elements 11 crashes when I open it.

Bought Premiere Elements 11 Editor on the AppStore on April 29, 2013.
It crashed everytime I opened it while it was loading.
I deleted it and downloaded it from the Appstore a second time.
It still crashes everytime I open it.
It crashes while it's loading "ImporterQuickTime.bundle".
I don't know where or what exactly that is or where I can get another one.
I don't know how to interpret the crash report.
There doesn't seem to be a way to contact Adobe by email and send them a copy of the crash report.
I already have Elements 11 Editor installed since it came out and don't have any problems with it.
I'm on a MacBook Pro (late 2011) running the latest version of Mountain Lion.
It has a SSD - 120 GB with 80 GB available.
I'm the only one using my Mac - I'm the Administrator.
I've Googled this problem and there seems to be a lot of people with exactly the same problem.
I don't understand why Adobe hasn't found a solution for this problem?

    I gather you use Windows.
    I'm on a MacBook Pro.
When I or anyone buys an app on the AppStore there is no installation disc or file.
Apple installs the app directly in the Applications folder in Finder.
Normally I or anyone clicks on the newly installed app and it starts up.
I did not buy Premiere Elements 11 Editor on the Adobe site so I can not download it again from the site.
I did install it a second time from the AppStore.
Always the same problem — it crashes as it's loading.
Normally when I have a problem with an app crashing I contact the developer by email.
Most developers except for Adobe let us contact them by email.
They always ask for a copy of the crash report.
They read the report to find out why it's crashing and tell me how they or I can fix it.
Adobe doesn't want it's customers to be able to contact them.
It seems like they feel it's your or my problem.
I did have a live chat with someone from Adobe and even let them share my screen.
The person read the crash report but didn't tell me why the app crashed.
The person couldn't really control my screen as I live in Europe and have a french Azerty keyboard.
The person downloaded QuickTime Player 7 and I installed it but that didn't stop the app from crashing.
The Adobe person just stopped the screen sharing and never contacted me after.
The person has my email address but didn't feel it was necessary to really help me.
    The person just disappeared.
I bought Elements 11 Editor on the Adobe site when it came out.
I couldn't get the online purchase to work.
I contacted Adobe with live chat and the Adobe staff couldn't get my purchase to work either.
Finally they had me buy Elements 11 through a bulk buying Adobe store.
It took me two days to buy the app.
I do like Elements 11 Editor a lot and use it every day.
I watched some videos about Premiere Elements 11 Editor and I think it'll be as good as Elements 11.
I bought Premiere 11 on the AppStore to avoid having the problems I had before buying on the Adobe site.
I was surprised and disappointed when it kept crashing.
I could just contact Apple and get a refund but I'd like to have the Premiere 11 app.
Adobe staff don't really seem to be interested in helping.
A staff member moved my thread to the Premiere forum but didn't even try to help me.
    I Googled my problem.
Premiere Elements 11 Editor crashes while loading "ImporterQuickTime.bundle".
I'm not the only customer this happens too.
I would like someone from Adobe to read my crash report and tell me why it crashes.
I don't know how to read it as I'm just a junior Nerd.
    I'm still learning.
So far the advice I've been offered doesn't really address my situation.
It would be great if another Mac user could offer some help
as they would understand about the AppStore and how it works.
Your post refered to a few things.
Tell me exactly what you think would fix my crashing problem.
Don't make me guess what I should do as I'm not an expert.
Please no links — tell me clearly what you think would fix the crashes.
Remembering that I'm on a Mac and I bought the app on the AppStore.
If you need more info just ask me.
I'm an english speaking Canadian (from near Toronto)
now living in the french speaking part of Belgium (which is in Europe).
My Mac is entirely in english as I don't know french well enough to use it on my Mac.
But I have a french Azerty keyboard.
I'm not into forums but as Adobe doesn't give a very good aftersales service,
I find myself here looking for an answer to my problem.
I just want Premiere Elements 11 Editor to work as it should do.
If you can help me I'd appreciate it alot.
