Premiere Pro CC Crashing At The Splash Screen - OSX Mavericks

Hello,
I'm having difficulty using Premiere Pro CC as it won't allow me to get past the splash screen. I've just updated to OSX Mavericks and apparently Premiere is compatible with Mavericks. However it appears to be crashing at every instance that I load it up, it flashes the splash screen and it crashes, giving me an error report.
I am a new member to these forums, so I apologise if I am asking in the wrong area.
I have the crash report here from Apple.

after playing with it a bit, turns out the problem is with the
SelectivePalette.plugin that gets installed. when you remove that photoshop will work.. the filters will work as well, sorta.. you choose and effect, and apply it, nothing happens. however if you use the PS command last filter command + f it applies what it should have.
    strange.

NTDLL crashes are eitehr driver crashes, file I/O issues or security issues. Run the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, trahjs the prefs, reinstall. Also check your security stuff, your device manager and so on.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Crashes all the time

CS3 worked well for me, but I updated my system to CS4 and no matter what I do, the program crashes and gives me the error screen. I updated the program and still have this error happening. Is there any fix for this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    >Make sure you update all your hardware drivers.
Which is what the link I provided recommends among many other things. ;)
We still need a lot of details to try to help the OP.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC Crash on Splash Screen

My Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014 is crashing on the splash screen. My Adobe Premiere Pro CC was not crashing until 2014. I am very angry and frustrated this subpar update was forced on us.
    I have tried:
    Uninstalling and re-installing SEVERAL TIMES
I have tried changing the compatibility issues to windows 7
I have tried running in administration mode
I have started my computer several times
I have tried updating my video drivers
    My computer specs:
    ASUS G75V gaming laptop
    1tb SSD
    12g ram
    3gb video memory
I have deadlines for clients and this is VERY frustrating!!!!

Hey everyone. I'm having the exact same issues. I've been using Premiere Pro CC for over a year, and only just recently started having issues with it.  Now, every time I launch it crashes(not responding) before it even gets to the project screen.
    I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
    Intel i7 4820k 3.70 Ghz Processor
Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 graphics card with the latest drivers. 9.18.13.4052
    8 GB of DDR3 1333Mhz RAM
So far I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all graphics drivers as well as Premiere with no luck.
I then uninstalled every single Adobe application, including CC.  Then reinstalled CC and Premiere by themselves.  Still no luck.

  • PS CS5 Crashes before the splash Sceen

I built a profile for a new user today. She's on a Leopard machine. When she opens Photo Shop it crashes before the splash screen even loads.
the strange part is that it works on all other profiles on the Mac. The error report says something about Bad_Exec.
Any Idea's? I tried explaining that I could just give them a PC to fix the issue but I was promptly ejected! lol.

We'd have to see the crash report to have any idea what might be going on.
The only crash reports that I've seen crashing that early were crashing in an OS routine that shouldn't be capable of crashing -- which probably indicates a corrupt OS install.

  • Premiere Pro CC won't launch after the splash screen on my new laptop

Got a new laptop from ASUS recently. It has the Geforce GTX 860M, which I know is not offically supported yet, but I've never had problems running Premiere with unsupported cards before and I've read about other people who've made it work. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling using the CC-app several times, to no success.
The problem manifests in two ways. Either the splash screen comes up and when it disappears, nothing happens. It's as if I never opened Premiere and I can try again with the same results. Either that or Premiere opens, I get a windows error message which says there has been an unexpected problem and Premiere had to close. No other explaination.
I tried updating the CUDA-drivers as suggested in another thread, and that worked ONCE, but Premiere wouldn't open again after that.
I have to make a decision on whether to keep this laptop, which in every other way is perfect and runs other Adobe-products fine (except raytracer in AE, but I can live without that until the card is supported), or keep another laptop with the 770M and which is not as powerful and "future proof".
Any good ideas out there would be much appreciated!

Does your laptop have two graphics adapters?
Go to the Windows Control Panel and select Hardware and Sound and then select Device Manager... In Device manager you click the + sign to the left of Display Adapters... and see if 2 are listed

  • Adobe premiere pro CS6 crashes whenever I move the timeline

Hi there, my Adobe Premiere pro CS6 crashes when moving the timeline or importing new clips. I have tried several things, I opened up a earlier project to try that and it was fine for a while, but after about 5-10mins of use it hit the same problem and would then always crash whenever I openend it and moved the timeline marker or added a new clip.
Another problem that may or may not be related, is that some clips are broken up into about 6 glitchy squares instead of the actual clip.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

    >an AMD 6670 GPU
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
-If Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

  • Premiere Pro CC crash on launch, crash opening project, update issues

    Hi,
    iMac 2011 quad i7 3.4 GHz, 20GB RAM, MacOS 10.9.2 and 10.7.5, Premiere CC 7.0.0 & 7.2.1
I've been having a crazy time with Premiere CC. I started an Africa documentary 2 weeks ago, which forced me to upgrade to CC (on MacOS 10.9.2). Other than some issues with the Creative Cloud installer app (which seems like a great idea but never seems to work as it should, especially with updates), I was happily working away for about 10 days.
During that time I had to install Premiere CS6 again to open another project -- and continued happily working.
Then I needed to export some markers... and discovered that the Creative Cloud app wasn't reporting any updates beyond 7.0.0, and I needed 7.2.1 to export markers. That's when my problems started.
I tried to update to 7.2.1 with the Creative Cloud app -- it wouldn't see the update.
I tried to download the 7.2 and 7.2.1 patches from Adobe's site directly -- neither of these would install, because they said I didn't have the right software (or something like that -- didn't write down the error).
Finally I used the Adobe Cleaner tool to uninstall and clean all Adobe apps off my system. Then I was able to use the CC app to download 7.0.0, and my patches to update to 7.2.1.
I tried to open my project... Premiere crashed as it opened the project (as it was loading the clips).
I uninstalled all 3rd party effects, checking to ensure nothing was in the MediaCore folder. I deleted all caches and previews. I checked the permissions of the Adobe preferences folder, and trashed the Premiere preferences. I rebuilt permissions.
Now, not only could I not open the project, but Premiere itself would not launch -- it would freeze to the point of forcing a reboot.
Cleaned Adobe apps again, went online with Adobe tech support for a full hour. The main thing they did was remove a CUDA extension, but after reinstalling, the problem persisted... at first it crashed while loading the project, and then crashed in the launch itself.
Luckily, I had a backup of MacOS 10.7.5, which I had been using before starting this documentary project. I went back to that backup, installed Premiere 7.2.1... and now Premiere launches properly but still crashes about halfway through loading my project.
I can load the project if the clips are offline (temporarily renaming the footage folder), so it seems that somewhere along this zany process, one or more clips got corrupted.
With 15,000 clips of different formats in this project, finding which clip(s) is corrupted is like finding a needle in a haystack. For now, I am importing my sequences into a new project, and just importing the clips I need to finish my edit at hand. Then I will likely have to build a new project from scratch -- a long process, since Premiere can't import nests of subfolders like After Effects and Final Cut Pro can, and that's how the footage from this project has been organized.
Arg! At this point I have a workaround (at least in MacOS 10.7.5), so I'm not really asking anything, but if anyone has light to shed I'm all ears.
P.S. I think when I installed CS6 after installing CC, it confused the CC app. I don't think that caused my Premiere issues, but I think it may have contributed to the issues installing updates, and the CC app getting confused.

    Hello GrayJones,
This does seem like some pretty unusual behaviour! And I can only imagine the frustration it must be causing (believe me, I've been there!)
I've seen a lot of crash issues that are related to computer's graphic cards. You may want to try updating your graphics card's driver before proceeding forward. Also, there are a very small number of graphics cards that just don't work well with Premiere. You can also check the settings of your Mercury Playback Engine GPU. This can impact the performance of your software, especially depending on your graphics card. I may have missed it above, but didn't see anything related to Graphics cards in what you tried.
If you update your graphics card's drivers, and then update your version of Premiere Pro, it may solve the crashing on launch issue that you were having. Moving forward with fully updated PP software would be my first course of action, if it's possible.
Although I see that you have tried it alreay, you might want to reset your preferences (hold Cmd and Shift on the Mac while opening the program until you hit the splash screen) and resetting your PP cache (Premiere Pro - Preferences - Media - Click on "Clean Media Cache Database"
Without seeing the errors that caused your updates to not install originally I can't really offer suggestions regarding that. It could be a system conflict somewhere on your computer, but there are dozens of possibilities of what could be causing, especially if you have other plugins, older versions of Adobe or other video softwares, that kind of thing...
    Moving forward from there:
How are you working? Are your images stored on an external hard drive or locally? How are you connecting the hard drive to your machine? Are you tossing all of the clips with different time code into one sequence and working from there, or editing on separate sequences?
As for your project: Do you have the ability to test it on a different machine? You can try doing a project manager (File-Project Manager) and putting your entire managed project onto a different machine to see the behaviour, that way you can figure out if the issues are related to the project itself, or to your install of Premiere Pro on your machine. IF the project works fine on another system, then clearly the issue is related to your software/hardware configuration, if you have the same issues with the project on every machine, then it might be something different. Can you test other projects on your current set-up? Is this the only project that is affected?
If you have one or several corrupted files I know it can be painstaking to try to locate where the damage is at, generally it's a process of elimination, make a sequence with files from one camera and see what happens, if it glitches, try another camera until you can see if it's a general issue to all of your cameras or specific to some. Narrow it down from there, if it's multiple cameras, then the error (again) is software/hardware or transfer related or occurs in your transfer/storage process, or may be related to your uninstalls/re-installs with CC and CS6 (although I don't think I've ever seen that!)
If it's only clips from one camera (you mention the Canon XF100 has problems) maybe something affected your camera. I once saw standing too close to a radar-dish corrupt 1/4 of the clips from a BBC videographer's camera. I have no explanation why... but it can happen, so if only one camera is affected you should consider the possibility.
I'll try to assist with this as much as I can! But remember that the forums are not here for Adobe personnel to provide support to clients, but as a community for Adobe-philes to share and help. A lot of Adobe staff who are posting on here are generally doing it because they've got a bit of free time and want to help out. You should consider contacting support again if you can't resolve the problem and getting them to connect you to a video specific team.
    Cheers!

  • Premiere Pro random crashing since update to 2014.2

Been working on the SAME big project over 18 months, in Pr Pro CC, 2014, working on the SAME PC:
Win 7 SP1 pro 64bit, i7-3770K, 32GB fast memory (25.7 available for Pr), Intel HD 4000 graphics on Asus motherboard with 30" NEC Multisync screen at 2560 x 1600 (same as for years)
42GB free on my SSD drive C: and 54GB free on my SSD drive S: for preview files, 24GB free on my SSD drive T: for caching files.  Project files etc stored on a normal hard drive F: (for Files!) 1.25TB free.
NOW last update to 2014.2 and I get constant RANDOM crashes (Windows encountered a fault and had to close this program) despite updating graphics driver and trying different settings in preferences, use mercury etc.  No particular action causes it  - sometimes I am just watching it play a sequence and it just stops. Though of course it may be rendering the last edit at the time.
Sometimes it runs for all of 15 mins and I think the problem has sorted then it goes again and I have to restart the project, find where I was and re-do my last edits.  If I remember to press Ctrl-S very frequently (every few seconds) it seems to run for a while then I forget for 5 mins and it crashes.
Grrrr what did you do to the latest version, Adobe??  I need to get this project finally finished in a hurry.... I wish I had not updated the program!  Of course I cannot go back as it says the saved copy is now incompatible with earlier Pr Pro versions.
I then tried running a previous version at the same time, as simonray suggested in his post - it worked!  So I am able to continue as normal provided I do this stupid bodge fix.
So it really is down to Adobe as it is the same project, same PC, just different version update.  You did something to a great, stable, program that made it unstable, Adobe...
To ANSWER RAMEEZ from previous thread:
A variety of issues can cause PPRO to crash:
a problem with the Preferences, or some other pref-related file in the Profile-<USERNAME> bin. >>  DIDN'T CHANGE ANYTHING since 1½ years running previous PrPro versions on SAME PROJECT on SAME PC
the graphics driver  Checked for latest version - didn't stop the crashing
    third-party plug-ins - don't have any
a problem with the cache files. I am using the same 2 x SSD I have been using for years for autosave and caching. 54GB free space / 24GB free space (current cache in place)
a problem with the project file (if you're loading a project...)  Doesn't apply
the Preferences files be set to read-only  How would that happen? Never happened before on any other update and I can change it.
the user not having administrator rights  Only one user on PC since installation, full rights
a conflict/incompatibility with some OS setting  Haven't changed anything
a problem on the licensing/authentication side.  I'm signed up to full Adobe CC. Everything else works, Ps, Lr, Id ...
A log file might help identify the cause of the crash. Please right-click 'My Computer', select "Manage," look under 'Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application' to see if there's an event there from Premiere Pro. If so, copy the contents of that log and paste them here.

Problem Solved! (with a small catch)
While searching crashing issues I came across this thread,"Premiere Pro random crashing since update to 2014.2"
Marc_Lec  Answered (and I paraphrase here)"...I had the same problem and this is what I did. In 'Preferences Memory'  I increased the memory reserved for other application to at least half the installed and changed the optimize render from 'performance' to 'memory."
Thank You Marc_Lec for what has been a game changer for me since my last computer and the beginning of PremiereCC problems.
I changed my Memory reserved for Other Applications from the default 7gigs to 1/2 of my approx.31 available Gigs = 16Gigs. Viola!
    No more crashing what-so-ever!
I still have to purchase an older  GTX 980 graphics card to take advantage of Adobe's approved code to utilize X=Cuda Cores and GPU, but I think I'll hang onto my new TitanX, in hopes that Adobe will write code and approve it someday in the near future.
Now why doesn't Adobe say this officially about Memory Settings? (I don't know maybe they do and I missed I somewhere)
Mine and probably many peoples computers problems here on this board may be attributed to a simple Memory adjustment, because the computer needs more than 7Gigs to run itself, not to mention Premiere.

  • Why is Premiere Pro CC crashing on startup?

    Hi,
Premiere Pro CC crashes right after it starts to load a project, whether a new one or an existing one. It worked for a moment right after I had installed it, but when I closed it and tried to open it again, it started to shut down with no error message. Same goes for Photoshop CC. I tried Premiere Pro CS6 but it's the same thing with that also.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall many times. I updated drivers for the video card and installed even a new video card. I signed out of Creative Cloud and signed back in many times. Nothing seems to help.
My computer is a Lenovo ThinkStation E30 and the video card is Radeon HD 6450 with the lates drivers.
Please help me! I'm in the middle of a video production and in a bit of a panic right now. I already wasted two days trying to figure this out.

    Hi TimiL,
    Welcome to the forums,
Please mention the OS that you have. If it is win 7 then go to device manager, display adapters and instead of updating automatically, select "browse my computer for driver software", then select " let me choose from a list of device drivers on my computer" and choose standard vga graphics adapter.  It will change the resolution of your screen so change the resolution bu right clicking on the desktop>screen resolution. After this step launch the product and check if you are able to launch the product.

  • Ai CC, Ps CC, and Id CC Closes After The Splash Screen

    Hello,
I recently upgrade from CS6 to CC versions of a bunch of Adobe programs for school and it seems that Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign always close right after the splash screen disappears.
I had no issues with CS6 at all.
I'm running it on a MacBook Pro Retina 15-inch. Early 2013.
Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB
    Software: OS X 10.8.4
I've been looking through the forums all day about ways to fix this.
    I have tried:
    • Signing out then back in
    • Uninstalling and reinstalling
    • Stopping the OS from auto-terminating programs with no windows open
Which are the main 3 options that I could find.
I have looked in Library>Logs>Adobe files for crash data, but it doesn't look like theres any.
I have noticed, when checking out the console logs, that theres a warning that pops up when I try to open any of the 3 programs that looks like:
I tried googling this, but there was almost nothing on that.
I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem, but any insight would be aprreciated.

    Hi Nick_DJM,
Please follow the kb document for the issue with CC apps crashing on launch- http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/cc-applications-crash-immediately-launch.html
