Premiere Pro CC Not Responding

Spent an hour with online chat support and lets just say the pace at which the troubleshooting progressed was slower than slow.  My online chat case was 0186030659 for your reference.  It seems I figured out what the issue was in between the dead silence of the chat by doing my own trial and error.  I have an into sequence I create about 3 weeks ago.  Once I imported that sequence my whole project became unstable.  Seems there is some incompatibility with slightly older patched project versions importing into the latest cc.  These types of problems should not occur with a professional editing product and are very unacceptable especially when you spend hours on a timeline only to have it go into a perpetual non-responsive state.  I opened my intro separately and I got a message to covert the project to a newer version.  This conversion prompt should have occurred before importing into my new project and screwing that up.
Anyways the troubleshooting would have gone a lot smoother if the support specialist informed me I could recover from a checkpoint.  As I said, I figured this out on my own in between the dead silence of no follow up from online chat.  A certain amount of lost unrecoverable work is better than nothing I guess...  Really not happy at the moment!

Thanks Kevin.  Your tip is definitely a "word to the wise", but I was a bit frustrated that  in the new CC era where one of the benefits is getting updates, the updates should not create backwards compatibility/stability issues with older projects imported into newer projects (mind you my older project was only 3 weeks old, not months or years).  When I imported my intro project into my existing project I should have received the same message I got when I opened the intro by itself.  That is, "your project was created with an older version... do you want to convert now...".  Adobe should provide this similar warning when importing the project into a new version project.
I recovered my project by reloading my last auto-saved version prior to including the intro project.  I lost probably a couple hours of work but this was the only workaround I came up with.  As I said previously, I had repeatedly asked the support specialist if there was a checkpoint I could recover from and he never responded.  I told him, I suspected the intro sequence, and I wanted to recover prior to the point or try and delete it from my existing project.  I am 4 weeks new to this entire suite of software and I didn't know about the auto-save folder if it were not for my own digging in between lack of response and follow up in live chat.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 not responding after adding anything to timeline

I had been using Premiere CS6 successfully for a while, but starting a few months ago, it started not responding after I did anything.  I can add a title and a transition succesfully to the timeline and it plays fine, but as soon as I add a picture or video clip, it immediately stops responding.  It's frustrating because the program used to work fine before.
The only thing I can think of that might have affected it was when I upgraded to Mavericks, but I haven't read anything about any serious problems with Premiere running on Mavericks.  I have a late 2008 MacBook Pro.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Not Responding (Freezing) When Working With Other Programs

    Hello,
I have a performance issue with Premiere Pro 5.0.3 version. When I have the program open and bounce to another program or Windows Explorer window lets say to drag in an asset such as a music or video file and then when I make the Premiere window active the program does not respond for a good 15 seconds, then after some processing (you see the mouse icon change and hear the hard drive chugging), I am able to again work. This is happening every time I switch windows to work on something else. Even if I just click away to another window and click right back without doing anything else, it does this non responding action. It even says it in the title bar (Not responding). I am wasting so much time waiting for the program to respond.
    My system :
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Intel Core i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80 GHz
    8.00 GB of RAM
    Quadra 5800 Nvidia graphics card
Drobo Pro 24 TB drive (where my project files, music & video files live) connected via iSCUSI
Sonnet 4 TB raid drive (scratch disc) connect via ESATA
    Dual Monitors
    Please help!
    ~ Doug

    Doug,
Similar had plagued earlier releases of CS5, but I thought that it had been addressed with the CS5.0.3 update. Maybe I am wrong.
There were several other threads here, with similar problems. Maybe they contain some tips that will help. The "constant" seemed to be shifting focus from PrPro, and then back to PrPro.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Pro CS3 Not Responding on new System

Can someone please help me out here?!?!? I just bought a brand new laptop. It haves an i7 processor, 8gb of ram, 1 tb of hard drive space, as well as runs on 64 bit with Windows vista 8.1 I believe. As we all may know Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 runs as a 32 bit program. Every time I try and open up a project I have already been working on prior to my new system and try to locate where the specific files are for it to link/synchronize, the Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 program freezes up and "Not Responding" appears causing me to press "ctrl, alt, and delete" to end the program using the task manager every time. Shouldn't I be able to run a 32 bit program on a 64 bit system? What can I do? Please help me!!! Thank you in advance!!!

    2 things to try
Right click the program icon and, if available, select running in WinXP mode from the pop-up option window
Right click the program icon and, if available, select run as administrator from the pop-up option window
    >Windows vista 8.1 I believe
As far as I know, that does not exist... current is Windows 8.1 (Vista is OLD and discontinuted)

  • Premiere Pro CS5 not responding after 55 minutes of capture with intensity shuttle

Hi and thank you for the valuable resources on this forum.
I am capturing analogue video into Premiere Pro CS5 using he Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle (with Time Base Corrector in the video path).  My captures are stopping at 54 or 55 minutes when the computer becomes non responsive.  This has happened with the Blackmagic motion jpeg codec as well as the 10 bit YUV capture. Same thing happens if I capture with media express (the blackmagic capture software)
I have tweaked my system as per many of the recommendations in the forum.
Running CS5 5.03, autosave set to 10 minutes (same problem with no autosave or autosave at 20 minutes)
Windows 7 64 bit fully updated
    i7 - 930 cpu
    Gigabyte x58A - UDP5 (Revision 1)
    24 Gb Ram
Nvidia 470 - MSI with the twin Frozr cooling solution.
Restore off, indexing off, windows search off,
Followed tips from forum and Viper regarding optimizing system
    3 Hard drives
System on standard Sata 2 drive
Project capture to OCZ Vertex 3 120 g SSD drive (nice bit of gear) running on Sata 3 controller
Page file on another hard drive
    Norton 360 unistalled
Anything else I could find unistalled or turned off.
Firmware and drivers for on board USB latest from Driver Station as per Blackmagic Recommendations.
Very succesful capture of things shorter than 55 minutes but I have some longer things I would like to capture in one go.
I have used process explorer to watch what happens.  Nothing special that I can identify in terms of processes but cpu seems to be going to 100%.
With progessive tweaks the problems remains the same.
I am not aware of any file size limits with Premire Pro or Blackmagic - are there some?
Considering reinstall but would greatly appreciate any insights.  My first post so I hope I have provided the right info to help you help me.
    Thank you
    Andrew

Good that you got it fixed... bridging device drivers have cause problems clear back to the computer version of the stone ages
I still have a Pinnacle Dv500 card (used via dual-boot with WinXP and Premiere 6x) that went through several device driver versions to get everything working right
While everything is working right... make a full "picture" of your hard drive to external USB drive to make recovering easy in case something goes wrong
Hardware crashes or virus infections happen, so you should buy software to make a full
backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus, making step-by-step
backups during a new install or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step
    if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive
(or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a
restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation
information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-
Activate if you change very much hardware)
The product I use is at http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm
Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to
make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden
registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore
the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a
plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a
hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or
re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

  • Premiere PRO CS5 Not Responding after 5.0.3 update.

Was working great until I updated to 5.0.3. As soon as I open a project I get a spinning circle along with (Not Responding) notice at the top. After waiting 10 minutes to see if it would respond and nothing happening I force quit the program. I've tried restarting the computer, opening up different projects, starting new projects and running the updater again. Still can't get it to work.
I don't think it's a hardware issue since it was running great prior to the update and this issue occuring immediately after the update.

    Thanks Bill.
Eric at ADK actually resolved this for me. I hadn't uninstalled the previous driver for the quadro 5000 card when that driver was updated and premiere was having issues with the multiple nividia drivers so it was really an nvidia issue. He unistalled all the previous drivers for the quadro and that fixed the issue.
Can't say enough wonderful things about Eric and ADK. Very friendly and patient but most importantly knowledgeable.

  • Premiere Pro is not responding and using 587% of CPU

My projects are going extrordinarily slow. and according to the activity monitor, Premiere Pro is using 587% of the CPU and the fan is going non-stop and the macbook is always very hot when I start this program. I feel this could physically damage my laptop if I left it running to render only 286 frames of a clip that takes over an hour to do at this high usage.
Only this program does this to the CPU  When I turn it off Premiere Pro, the heat starts to cool off and the fan slows down, and it eventually goes quite again
    What would be causing this?
I am using a new 15 inch macbook that is a few months old with 16 GB of RAM and 2.6 GHz processor.
I feel Premiere Pro could could almost be a fire hazzard to my home. What is wrong with my system?  have there been previous lawsuites for CS6 for this issue?
    Andy

Update the GoPro firmware, shoot some footage, and then see if the new footage will work in Premiere Pro for you.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Not Responding / Not Opening / Audio Mixer Issue?

    Please assist.
I have been editing 300GB of 10bit AVI footage with no problems. Recently I have had to record additional voice over which I have done through the audio card using Premier Pros Audio mixer and it appears this is where the problem may be occurring.
The Project has been set up onto three drives:
I am running the .prproj / project files off one 2TB drive and the video & audio assets on an additional 2TD drive, premier pro & the operating system is on a separate drive. I have no anti virus running or any other resource hungry programs.
    PC specs:
    Intel Core i7 2600 3.4Ghz Quad
    16GB RAM
    Nvidia GTX 560 1GB
I resave the project after each change and it appears that the edits that have the audio recordings eg: 5 different projects will not open. The projects that don't have the audio recordings open with no problems.
Does anyone have any suggestions or come across similar problems when using the Audio Mixer?

Have you installed the most recent updates?

  • How come my premiere pro is not downloading

I downloaded creative cloud for my mac pro and now the premiere pro is not downloading

Are you saying that you can see Premiere Pro in the Cloud app but it won't download?
Or can you not see Premiere Pro for download at all?
Premiere Pro is 64 bit only software so check that you have a 64 bit computer and 64 bit operating system otherwise you won't be able to download it or install it.

  • Premiere Pro is not reading all of the video content in my AVCHD clip. I know this because my computer plays all of the content through Preview, so the information is on the card. How do I get Premiere to read all of the content?

Premiere Pro is not reading all of the video content in my AVCHD clip. I know this because my computer plays all of the content through Preview, so the information is on the card. How do I get Premiere to read all of the content?

First, AVCHD isn't just "one" clip, it splits the video & audio into several files each per clip, typically with randomly generated names. The only way they "play" correctly is if the software doing so is able to read from the data file ...in a different folder ... the information that X clip is actually A, B, D, #@, and 456 video clips and TR, #r54, and ert$%4 audio clips. The next "clip" is ... and on and on. So both rapid access to the video files AND that database file are necessary to play the files back, or do anything else with them.
VLC is a fairly decent but simple playback tool. It's nowhere near as complicated nor demanding in its "relationship" with those clips as an NLE like PrPro, which will be trying to do more reading & writing.
Further, many of the preferences in PrPro are natively set so that it writes project, cache, preview, & database files next to the footage. So ... if it doesn't have both a fast enough connection with the data AND space for putting all of it's own stuff there, it tells you it can't work the file.
Therefore ... the need to have the complete data from the card in the exact same folder structure it was in ON the card copied to a "local" hard drive.

  • My premiere pro will not open.

My premiere pro will not open. All of my Master Suite works, but when I choose Premiere Pro is says, (The application “Adobe Premiere Pro CS6” is not open anymore). Please help, I am a film student and have my own YouTube account and need Adobe.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again.

I have administrator rights to the computer. The drivers are up to date. But I am still getting the error message "Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again"  when opening Premier Pro CS5.5. This appears to have happed after I upgraded to Mac OS 10.10.2.
    Anyone?
    Thanks

    Hi Stan.
I had the same problem as you did though I am using Adobe CC.  I saw nobody replied to you so perhaps my eventual success on my later version may have applications to the error on your version.
Anyhow, I did all the suggestions found here (Error "Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules" | Startup )  first and updated my NVidea card to no avail.  Eventually what did the trick was this...
After mucking about with the video card, I said "OK lets just have a go at Premiere itself." So I uninstalled Premiere CC and reinstalled it.  Now for some reason it didn't give me the latest patch but a slightly earlier version than the current one but lo and behold it was fine with the video card again.  I was able to get my friend's video imported and quickly edited but then was having some issues with exporting where it would hang up but I went into Adobe Media Encoder and exported it there without a care.  That task out of the way, I then went and made the update to the latest patch and it works perfectly fine - no video driver issues.
So short of it is this - if you've updated your drivers, perhaps what you could try uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere.
Let me know if this works.
    Cheers and good luck
