Premiere Pro CC - start up disk shrinks to nothing and have to close program.

When working on a project on an external hard drive, why does my start up disk, my desktop storage memory, shrink to almost nothing until I close the Premiere Pro CC? It has consistently been doing this. All scratch disks are set to the external hard drive. Are there preview and render files that are temporarily being stored on my desktop that I don't know about? I start out with 30gigs and 5 hours later I'm down to 8gigs. And then…And 3….And…You get the picture.

Are you saying that you only have 30 gigabytes of space on your OS/Applications disk drive or is the about the RAM usage?
Yes, there are files written on your OS/Applications drive,   On my Windows 8 laptop this is the location
C:\Users\YOURpcNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Media Cache Files.  These are not temporary files though and should not disappear with a reboot, but they can be deleted to make more room.

Then your hard drive is full.  You need to move large libraries to another location (like an external drive). Libraries like iPhoto, iTunes, and even iMovie Events, are very big space hogs.
    iPhoto
    Moving iPhoto Library - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1229. and http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2506.
    iTunes
Moving iTunes Music from one computer to another or an external drive - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/8.2/en/15475.html and HT1449 - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1449
    iMovie
Moving iMovie Events to an external drive to save space see the following 2 articles:
PH2302 - How to move "Events Only" to an external hard drive - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2302?viewlocale=en_US.
PH2289 - How to move "Projects" (and their associated events) to an external drive - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2289?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US.
Also note, you can save space on your hard drive by deleting "Excess" unused video in your event folder - see the iMovie 11 help menu, and select the "browse help" tab.  Under Manage Events, select "Delete all excess video from an event"
NOTE - ensure you are "Moving" the data, and not just "Copying" the data as per - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2302?viewlocale=en_US.  (hold down COMMAND while dragging to the external drive) for the best results and less chance of loosing data connection with the project

  • I can't download anything as it keeps telling me my start up disk is full.  I have deleted loads of files and it still keeps popping up with the same messge??

Please help - I am not too computer savvi and my computer keeps telling me my start up disk is full.  I have purchased a passport and transferred loads of images and files onto that and then deleted them from my computer but the message is still the same and I can't download anything.

How big is your hard drive, and how much space is used/free?
To find out, click once on the hard drive icon on your desktop to highlight it (it will be called Macintosh HD unless you renamed it). Click the command and I keys on your keyboard to open the information window. In "General", you will see Capacity and Available. What are those figures?
If you have a little bit of space left, I recommend that you install Omnidisksweeper (it's free) to tell you what folders are using up the most room.
Be careful when you transfer files - only move files that you know are yours. Don't move or delete any system files unless you're specifically recommended to do so (some files are safe to delete; some are not).

    Hello nicky:
You should run repair disk from your software install DVD before you try anything else. The crash may have damaged some of your directories - and a possible cause of the "missing/not missing" tunes.

    Hi
You might have swiped it into another icon by error if you were moving things around.  You can find these easily as they have a black background.
Also, to see if you rae running an active Safari, double click on your bottom button and all of the  active applicatiosn will come up.  You can scroll through these to see if Safari is running (and not lost).

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 Family- 'extracting' for 24 hours and I can't cancel it and start again

    Hi
I've been trying to download the trial of Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 Family for 24 hours now. It downloaded in Adobe Download Assistant fine and the it started 'Extracting'. Its been extracting for 24 hours and the close or pause buttons next to it are not available to press so I can't stop it and try again.
A message half way through did pop up saying 'opening premier pro, verifying...' but then a warning sign came up saying 'the following disk images couldn't be opended. Reason: Invalid Checksum' . Don't know if that has anything to do with it but on Adobe Download Assistant it is still 'Extracting'.
I am working on a year old Macbook Pro with a fast connection to the internet.
    Thanks

buenas dias, yo intentado descargar adobe CS5 standart, premium ... pero todos los ficheros se paran en 49°/° y no van mas, no se que hacer, intentado con todos los exploradores de internet . gracias

  • Premiere Pro 2.0 Installation Disk Won't Read

I had to re-format my hard drive and when re-installing Premiere Pro 2.0 I found that my installation disk will not read in my DVD drive!  Nothing is wrong with my drive.  It reads all other DVDs just fine.  I get nothing in the directory like the disk isn't there.  It's not a disk problem because they have been stored in excellent condition, and not only will the installation disk not run or open, but neither will the accompanying Total Training Video Workshop disks.  I am completely dumbfounded.  When I purchased this program about 6 years ago off Ebay I had the old 1.5 version on my computer, and had to enter the old registration key along with the new one for 2.0.  Is it possible I have an UPGRADE-ONLY copy here instead of the actual full program?  It's in the shiny new box and all and doesn't say anything on it about it being an upgrade, so it seems legit.  And if it was, in fact, just an upgrade-only program, would that cause the disks not to be read at all in the drive??  I need help on this one because I make my living off editing, and I'm sitting on 3 projects for clients that I cannot deliver on time to get paid, nor have I been able to afford to buy a new CS version.

I have about 8 different burners on my systems, and some will read DVD's better than others will. On my workstation, I have one LG and one Plextor. The LG does the best, and when it fails, the Plextor usually can read. When this happens, I just do a Copy from the drive that can read the disc, to the other drive, using Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden blank media. If neither can read, I have six others to try. Sometimes, it's just the burner.
One little hint would be to make sure that your burner's firmware is updated to the very latest. That can improve the burner's ability to read from a slightly damaged disc.
Otherwise, contact Adobe. For many programs, they sell replacement media. Do not know if there are version limitations, but one call should give you what is available.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Why can't Premiere Pro CC start?

It never moves past the loading screen and just crashes.
It's run flawlessly in the past, just this night it's being difficult.
I've tried rebooting Creative Cloud by logging in and out - and of course the PC. I've also tried running it in compability mode.
    Nothing aids.
I run a big ASUS laptop, Windows 7, 16 gb ram, Intel I7, SSD Drice, Geforce 630m.
I hope it's just a matter of an update?
I have both the CS6 Family and the CS6 CC version installed. Would that be a problem?
    Thanks a bunch!

There are many like it, as I have tried opening it without luck, many times.
Today there was an update for the program, but it still didn't help.
    To answer your other questions.
I am launching it from everywhere, but mainly from the start-button.Also tried launching it from the folder itself - with several compability modes.
I don't think that anything has changed since last time it worked. Not that I know of.
I don't know where to "clear the preferences or the cache files". Sorry. Where would this be done?
    Thank you very much.
    Cheers. Jesper

  • Premiere Pro not starting up

Premiere Pro CC is not even starting up. I very recently purchased the CC annual subscription and all the other apps are working fine except for premiere pro. It just wouldn't start up. A window comes up saying "Premiere pro has stopped working. Windows is checking for solutions". I have tried installing and uninstalling the app again and then tried quitting and signing out of creative cloud. Nothing seems to be working.
I am working on a Dell mobile workstation (m6700) with i7-3840qm processor, NVDIA Quadro k3000m 2gb graphics card and 8 gb of RAM.

Now let me tell you what I HAVE done. I have restarted my PC, I have updated all of my drivers, checked my BIOS and disabled anything my intergrated card may have been doing somehow, and I have reinstalled Premiere Pro CS6 and I even uninstalled it and tried Premiere Pro CC with the same issue and spill of details basically.
I would love some knowledge on this, I'm sure there are many of your who have to have edits done within a certain amount of time and it is worrisome.
    Thanks in advance!

I tried this and I'm sad to say it hasn't worked. Premiere pro still will not open but Photoshop and Flash continue to open up correctly.
    Does the line:
    Fault Module Name:
    dvamarshal.dll
Have anything to do with it? I know it's a .dll file instead of the Premiere folders, but beyond that I do not know much.
    Thanks!
