Premiere pro CC - still no time lengths on clips
So, I finally broke down and bought CC subscription in hopes of needed upgrades. Great to see thst the timeline now shows changed lengths as you drag one end shorter or longer, but as all other professional editors do now, please can Adobe add standard Clip Lengths to all clips on timeline as an additional option. This request seems to be a "No Brainer" and/but for some reason Adobe continues to leave this important feature out... Why? (I know it's probably pretty hard to add the codec to the program as I notice that the initial clip 'names' are a floating layer upon themselves that don't scroll with each clip but rather stay on top of the clips on the left side, but I have faith in you that it can be done).
Jim, your assumption is correct. As you all sould know, being in a hurry iS part of the editing business. Since Premiere is probably one of the only editors that does NOT include Clip lengths (next to or just below the clip name) I am absolutely dumbfounded on how anyone could zip around the timeline with many layers and have to stop everytime to wait for the mouse-over-clip way to see such a simple, essential property of what you are working on. Your 'not understanding' the reasoning for my request here is either missplaced, or you don't live in the 'real world' of editing with clients and producers breathing behind your neck asking for many things at the same time, including partial and total clip lengths. It's such a "No Brainer" why editors, would need this information simply by looking at the screen, as this REALLY isn't an over-the-top request, and need not affect your editing experience, as this is an 'OPTION' in most all other editors. Please forgive my intense response. I do not mean any disrespect to you. Rich

Premiere Pro shutting down every time I add clip into sequence.
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
I've tried over 15 times, different clips, new projects. Every time I drag a clip into a sequence or even create a sequence from a clip Premiere is shutting down.
How can I resolve this?
Thank you for your time.More information needed for someone to help... please click below and provide the requested information

What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)
What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

Encoding to Flash in Premiere Pro 2.0 - encoding time
I created a project in Premiere Pro 2.0 and attempted to use the Export ---> Adobe Media Encoder option to make it into a FLV video for posting on the web. I chose the "FLV8 NTSC 400K" option in the encoder.
This is a 10 minute project. It took 1 hour and 58 minutes to encode!
I'm running a 4 or 5 year old program (Premiere Pro 2.0) on a 4 week old laptop with i3 processor and 6MB of RAM. So I don't think the machine isn't up to the task.
Is this typical that a 10 minute video takes nearly 2 hours to encode to FLV? Or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you in advance for your advice.
ScottIn my case, this is 3 physical (not partitions) SATA II HDD's, where I spread the I/O load over all three.
C:\ OS, programs
D:\ Projects w/ Scratch Disks
E:\ Media and Page File (this system)
In the particular case above, the test Project happened to be on my E:\, along with the media, and my Page File. That is not how I normally work, but decided to leave it alone, for this timing test. It is obviously not the ideal, when it comes to "spreading the load," and is not my recommended scheme. The Export was also to that same E:\, so there should have been a bit of an I/O bottleneck there.
I also went against my normal workflow, as I did not shut down anything, including AnitVirus, spy-sweeping and pop-up blocking, plus I had 5 tabs open and active in Chrome (my browser). Again, this should have created a bit of a CPU bottleneck.
Still, with all those things being done in a less than ideal situation, the time was pretty good. Not sure how much I could have shaved off the Export process, had I set things up in my normal fashion, and created an ideal environment.
Sorry to not define the terms early on.
Good luck,

Premiere Pro CC 2014 imported video length mismatch
I've got a problem in Premiere Pro CC 2014 where the audio and video get out of sync the farther you go into the imported clip. While troubleshooting I noticed that Premiere isn't properly reading the video length of the imported file. Windows reports the right length, as do VLC and Handbrake, but Premiere shows a time about 30 seconds shorter than the real file. I've included the file info from MediaInfo and Premiere here. Windows reports a (correct) length of 1:56:39. This happens on two different Windows computers both running the latest release of Premiere Pro. Has anyone seen this? I've tried to search for similar issues but haven't found anything like this. Thanks!

Premiere Pro CS4 Crashes every time I toggle to another application
Dell Latitude D630 laptop w/Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. Running Production Premium CS4. PPro runs great except that any time I click out of it, even for the simplest function, like adjusting volume from the taskbar, PPro crashes. I previously ran CS3 in WinXP without issue. Any ideas?

While using Premiere Pro CS4, if I click out of it for any reason, ex: adjusting volume on the taskbar (no other application [photoshop, after effects, etc.] running) or toggling to another application, Premiere Pro crashes and a new windows appears:
"Adobe has detected that the applicationAdobe Premiere Pro CS4 has unexpectedly quit. A crash report has been generated. Adobe will use this crash report to help find a future solution to this problem."
The first time I got this, I decided to fill out the crash report and send it in, but not since.
Please let me know if there's any other information I can provide that will help find a cause for this problem.

Premiere Pro CS4 Crashes every time I try to open it
Every time I open premiere pro wheather its a HD project or SD project, or even one that I worked on before in it, it decides that it needs to crash, how can I fix this?
As Curt says, it is below the minimum. Those minimum specs. are to allow one to install the program, and are not even a guarantee that the program will run, let alone edit. [If Adobe asked me, I'd set realistic "min. specs." so that one could at least edit simple SD Projects.]
Now, when it worked once upon a time, but not now, Curt is correct - something has changed. Were I troubleshooting, the first thing that I would check would be the I/O sub-system, i.e. the HDD's. It is likely that you have one HDD, and that it has filled up over time. It is likely that it is now too full to allow PrPro to even start up. Were I doing the investigations, the first thing that I'd look at is the defragmented free space on the HDD. For PrPro, my minimum would be ~ 100GB, AFTER the Page File (statically managed and set at boo-up) has been written. The listed min. is probably around 30GB, but that allows no breathing room. If your Page File (Windows Virtual Memory) is set to be dynamically managed by Windows, then it is what is likely filling to overflowing and shutting things down.
Personally, I'd be looking into a new computer, but if you are doing SD only, and would like to troubleshoot things, to try and get back to using PrPro, as before, take a look at this ARTICLE, to get an idea of all the info that will be needed here.
After you look into my speculation on HDD space, and satisfy that requirement, take a look at this ARTICLE, on getting the most possible out of your computer, especially for an editing session.
If you do decide to invest in a more robust computer, please see Harm Millaard's great articles in the Hardware sub-forum. He discusses, in great detail, every aspect of a computer for video editing. They are better than one would ever get from talking to a sales rep at Dell, HP, Gateway, et al.
Good luck, and please let us know how you'd like to proceed.

Premiere Pro CS6 still much faster than Premiere Pro CC
I am currently editing videos that were captured using screen recording software. The files have subsequently been converted to .WMV clips with a data rate of exactly 4.4 MB/sec (that's Megabytes/second). This data rate includes both video and audio.
There is no problem editing these clips in Premiere Pro CS6. Playback and scrubbing are fine at any quality setting and at any magnification size. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Premier Pro CC2014. This "new" version of Premier Pro chokes to death with attempting to play back or scrub the exact same clips. Even at 1/4 resolution, CC2014 struggles along. I can improve things a bit by turning off CUDA acceleration (which makes even less sense to me), however, CC2014 just can't do what CS6 does.
I introduced this issue a few months ago, but it obviously has not been resolved by Adobe. They are bringing new feature into CC2014 all the time, but I'd much rather they focus on getting the software to work properly, like CS6 does.Totally agree! C'mon on Adobe...let's fix the performance and the memory leakage!

Adobe reset my trial for Premiere pro but still isn't working?
I had an email saying that my Premiere Pro trial has been reset but when I try to use the software, it won't let me use it as it says my trial has expired. I tried unstalling everything, restarting and then downloading and installing everything again. Still not working.
Chat support hasn't been very helpful. Anyone ran into this problem?Hi Rave,
Adobe have stated that they have reset my trial period of Premiere Pro so that I can try out the new features of the 2014 release. I've attached an image of the email. -

I am making a slideshow thing on iMovie and I have all the pictures in it and in order and have quotes popping up in between them, while music is playing! The majority of the pictures last for around 5 seconds so you can see the pictures, but a lot of them are one second and you cannot even see the picture or read the quotes! I cannot get them to stay on the screen for longer. I've tried moving the time cursor to make them longer, but it moves then reverts back to its original position! Can anyone help me figure out how to make the time length longer on the pictures? Thanks!
Sometimes permissions and preferences can get corrupted. Whenever iMovie starts acting funny, a common maintenance procedure is to do the following: Delete preferences by closing iMovie and trashing the file com.apple.iMovie.plist found in User (the House icon)/Library/Preferences. Then do a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility App on your Mac. Open the Disk Utilities window and select the Mac hard drive icon at the top of the side pane at the left. Then click on the Repair Permissions button. When you have repaired permissions and deleted preferences, restart your computer and launch iMovie. iMovie will replace the .plist file that you deleted. Be sure also that you have sufficient free disk space on your hard drive for iMovie to function correctly. 25GB often is recommended by users of this forum. After doing all of the above, relaunch iMovie and see whether you still have the problem.

Premiere Pro CS6 crashes every time I attempt to import an MP4
I have Premire Pro CS6 (version 6.0.5). I updated it yesterday. I'm running this on Mac OSX v10.9.1 (also updated yesterday).
The footage is MP4 and was originally recorded in Telestream (http://www.telestream.net/Screenflow/).
Everytime I attempt to import the footage I get this message: "Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requeres Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project." Then the program freezes and I have to force quit. I've tried importing other MP4s to see if it's just the one file but the error occurs no matter what I try to import. I have not had trouble importing files before I did the updates yesterday.>Mac OSX v10.9.1 (also updated yesterday).

Premiere Pro CC - Crashes every time by moving images
Hello,
I got a huge problem using Premiere Pro and its absolutly annoying.
Im working on a project with many (about 40 Images) first .tif now .jpg files all downscaled to 2500px.
I imported them pretty easy and the previews rendered fine. I move them into the timeline add a smooth aperture to it and scale them a bit.
Boom, Premiere crashes.
There is an error bla bla.
My system requirments are fine. That cant be the problem.
Any suggestions? Cant be real that the app crashes by an so easy call.
Greetz.
