Premiere Pro CC (ver 7.0) boots but won't load media.

I'm running Premiere on a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.7.5, 2.4GHz Intel, with 6 GB RAM, and the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics card. Premiere Pro CC will boot and shows some of the linked media but not all. When I attempt to link a clip to its media, the locator box launches and the program finds the media but then the wheel of death emerges and spins forever...I'm using a variety of footage including Pro Res files, VOB files, .mkv, .MTS, etc. I've trashed the preferences.

Thanks, Mark. Upgrading to 7.2.2 appears to have helped. I can now import and re-link without the program crashing. Some media remains as "pending" without coming on-line; this appears to be the one unresolved issue.

  • Windows boots but won't load (Black screen with cursor)

[Sorry for the long post, but I feel the need to fully explain my situation]
    I have the following problem:
I turn on my PC, and Windows shows it's normal loading screen, after which it goes into a completely black screen, with just the mouse in the middle. By the cursor size I can tell that it's in a low resolution, probably 800x600 (compared to my usual 1920x1080). I am able to move the mouse around, but with no particular use without something to click on. No other keyboard input seems to work, except for Shift key 5 times, which brings up the Sticky Keys dialog box (with just "Yes" or "No" options, no other link); and Windows key+U which brings up the Ease of Access center. Ctr+Alt+Del does NOT work.
So far this is what I have tried (in chronological order):
Boot into Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Booting in low resolution video, Last known good configuration: all yield the same result as booting normally.
    Repair your computer:
Startup Repair: Found Registry Errors (I realized and fixed this later on)
System Restore: Did not find any previous restore points (I know for sure that there are, I made a habit of making restore points regularly).
Windows Memory Diagnostics: Did not find errors.
    Command prompt:
Ran chkdsk /f /r command, did not report errors.
Ran sfc /scannow : I don't remember the exact report, but it asked for a restart to finish repairing problems. I restarted, and ran the command again for the same result.
Forced the scan with: sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows , it found and repaired some errors, still could not load windows.
Ran Dell Startup Diagnostics, found no errors.
Ran Startup Repair again, found the registry errors again. I found the solution to this in a Microsoft Help forum ( answers.microsoft.com/.../f77d5355-b8be-41d6-af24-cae994e1768f ), and fixed the issue. I rebooted, but the problem persists.
Startup Repair now finds no errors. I tried System Restore again, it found 2 restore points dated AFTER my problem started. I decided to restore anyways, but neither of them worked.
    I ran Windows Defender Offline:
Quick Scan: and found 2 threats and removed them.
Full System Scan: found 4 more threats, removed 2 of them, the other two couldn't be removed because they were within an ISO file.
I tried Steps 1, 2 and 3 again with no luck.
With each step I am aware that I'm closer to having to reinstall Windows, so I decided to see if I could still access my HHDD to save my personal files. I made a Linux live CD (with Ubuntu), but I am having trouble mounting the drives, because they are in a RAID0 configuration. "sudo dmraid -s" gives the following error: "ERROR: isw: wrong number of devices in RAID set "isw_dbdffjficc_ARRAY0" [1/2] on /dev/sdb".
    Important Details:
I changed my graphics card about 4 months ago (an Nvidia GTX 750ti for an ATI Radeon HD 6450), and I was told that I may be running short with the Power Supply. The new card asks for a minimum of 450W and I think my PSU is 460W. This may or may not have something to do with this issue, I have no idea.
The RAID0 configuration of my 2 500GB Hard Drives brought me a lot of problems from day 1. One of the HDD would randomly fail (I am able to hear a different clicking sound when this happens), and the computer would crash. Upon startup, it would ask for a boot device. The Dell startup utility would then only recognize 1 of the drives, but would finish without errors. After a restart or two, all would be fine and windows would boot normally (aside from the usual error recovery screen) without any sign of corrupted data or anything. Like I said, this has been happening form the day my PC arrived, but restarting a couple of times always fixed it. As of now, both HHDD seem to be working fine, the Dell utility recognizes both of them, and does not find errors in any of them, and I can access any directory from the command prompt.
Is there anything else I should try before reinstalling Windows?
Before the install, I would really like to be able to recover my files (I have important documents from college), is there any way to do this?
Sorry again for the extremely long post (and for any language errors, English is not my native language), and thanks in advance.

Since you still haven't got your data from the drive(s). I would advise performing a Windows installation without formatting the drive... I don't like this solution but at this stage you have probably tried everything else.
Use a Windows 7 Reinstallation DVD when installing ensure you select...
Select Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)
If you do not select any of the drive options and simply highlight the largest partition and select next:
Windows will dump all the old installation files in the Windows.old folder

  • Premiere 12 won't load media

Why won't my premiere 12 add some videos from my digital camera but will load other videos from the same camera?

We have Windows 8.1.  My camera puts out MTS video, but it fails with these as well as MPG video that I convert.  I've always been able to hit add media and highlight several sources and they would load for the project.  Now I'm lucky if one will load. I am adding video files to the project.  I press add media. I choose the files and folder option and then I see my videos listed.  I highlight one and the add media box showing the video loading appears.  At this point about 90 % of the time it seems to freeze and show no progress on getting the clip over.  I have walked away and given it over an hour and yet nothing loads.  I will then hit cancel.  At this time I get a message that it is not responding and the program crashes. So I begin again and try one video file at a time and it will work for a couple and then crash.  I'm caught in a perpetual cycle.  I'm not loading huge videos.  I have been adding two and three second clips.
    Thanks,TLB

  • Have Wifi connection but won't load

My Iphone 3g  indicates wifi connection after finding and connecting to my office router but won't load Itunes, App store or Safari pages, it will however connect via 3G. The phone is using Orange as the carrier and the phone was previously on the o2 network but was unlocked by o2 prior to putting in an Orange sim.
I have an identical Iphone (for business use) which connects fine, this is running on an O2 network but is otherwise identical.
    Any suggestions are really appreciated.
    Many thanks.

If you are running Lion 10.7.2 please try Lion WiFi  problems fix, if you have trouble understanding it then watch the WiFi Lion Fix on YouTube . Your issue also could be with your router, it may be using a older firmware version. You will need to refer to the router mfg for instruction on how to update the router.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - (ver.7) CC upgrade protocol auto update?

Just revamped one of my stations with a new GPU and SSD.  I also purchased an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro.  Loggin in to my usual subscription I realized that Premiere Pro CS6 is no longer available and ver.7 is now ''CC.''  This is great and the revamped machine is working wonderfully.  I couldn't be happier.  My wife will mainly use this machine to edit some hobby stuff.
However, the point for this thread is that my main workstation in the den still has CS6 and I did not receive an e-mail to update it or ''upgrade'' (however it's to be called) to the new CC.  So am I to log in to the new CC interface login and download everything again on my main system and delete the old CS6 install?
    Thanks a bunch!

CVid, you are both right and wrong.
CC actually is a very worthwhile upgrade from CS6 (or it will be when it's finished).  Here is my top list of time-saving new features (and there are many more):
    - NEW:  Automatically Sync separate audio and video clips based on their audio waveforms.  AWESOME! (but doesn't work, yet).
    - NEW:  Merge Clips right from the project panel, including auto sync on audio.  WAY COOL!  (audio sync doesn't work, yet).
    - NEW:  Subclips can be created with "soft" handles you can adjust later (works great!  Except Subclips cannot be created from a Merged Clip)
    - NEW:  Use the scroll wheel—or better, yet, the keyboard—to quickly resize all video (CTRL+/-) and Audio (ALT+/-) tracks on the timeline. (LOVE IT!)
    - NEW:  Both "Clip Gain" and "Clip Volume" now have keyboard shortcuts (not sure why they didn't before.  Small, but important time saver for me!)
    - CHANGED:  "Solo" button replaces "Toggle Track Output" on the timeline.  (but to truly isolate a clip takes 2 ALT CLICKS and 1 MORE CLICK!)
    - IMPROVED:  Link Media dialogs.  Very cool!  (haven't tried it, yet.  Wouldn't surprise me if it crashed Premiere)
    - BUG:  One-take Multi-Cam Editing.  Make your first pass count, cause there's no second chances in the Multi-Cam editor.
    - BUG:  Selecting more than 3 clips on the timeline will crash Priemiere.  See video:  http://youtu.be/DPOUinOSzDE
And these are just the few features / bugs that I've encountered in the first week!
You are correct, though.  You now RENT the software from Adobe.  No purchases.  But, this doesn't bother me, much.  I've been renting CS6 for over a year, now.  MrDigitalBoy, since you have a subscription, you should see BOTH CS6 and CC products in your Creative Cloud updater.
And, I would definitely agree with [r]Evolution, DO NOT INSTALL CC, yet.  It is not even CLOSE to being ready for prime time.  It has cost several editors on these forums, myself included, days of wasted time and lost income grappling with this broken software.  I believe it will be great!  I'm looking forward to it.  But wait 'til the first product updates, at least.  And then procede with caution.

I did check Quicktime and it is not updated to the most recent version. However, if it was a result of Quicktime not being up to date, why can some accounts launch the program while others cannot. I have also updated the graphics driver on one computer. No change. I compared my student Active Directory account to that of one student who could not launch the program. They are in exactly the same place in AD and therefore have the same permissions on the domain. This is a puzzling issue and the instructor is getting frustrated. Any help or suggestions with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea, other than what I said about the program's design requirement for an Admin account and "sometimes" problems on any other account
About the only thing I can suggest is a "remote control" chat session... when a student with a non-working account is having problems

  • I have downloaded Premiere Pro CS6 on my work PC, but can't find it to open it anywhere. I can find other Creative Cloud programs I downloaded though.

I have a one-year Creative Cloud subscription on my Mac, and I recently opened it on my work PC as well (as customer support told me I could do). I downloaded Photoshop, Indesign, and Bridge, and have successfully used them all on this PC, but I can't find Premiere Pro CS6 to open it though. Wondering if it's a problem with the computer, or if it's something that can be fixed/how to fix it.

CS6 via the Cloud requires an extra step... did you do as described below?

  • Mac Pro will boot but won't restart.

When waking up or doing a soft boot my Mac Pro will chime and sound like it's booting but the display will never come on.
If I do a cold boot, or even hold down the power button to force it off and then boot it's fine. I've tried turning on and off and plugging and unplugging the monitor. I've repaired permissions and reset the SMC and PRAM. It's been happening for a while, but now I want to install MacFUSE and it requires a restart to finish installing.

    Which model Mac Pro? GHz?
    How much RAM?
    What display card? What display?
What USB devices (these have a strong reputation for interfering with sleep)
    What FireWire devices?

  • Premiere Pro 6 - I can import DVAVIs but only 1st 8 minutes play in timeline

The DVAVI files are fine and can be played in Media Player just fine.  When I import them into a timeline in Premiere Pro 6 the first 8 minutes are fine.  Then the video freezes for the balance of the tape, and the audio is just a hum.  It does not happen with everything DVAVI file, but enough that it is driving me crazy.  I am using a Thinkpad with a solidstate drive.  The DVAVIs are created on a Sony MINIDV camcordder.  I have removed and reinstalled the program three times and am out of ideas.  Any advice will be much appreciated!!!

  • Dual hard drive macbook pro, triple boot, win7 won't load

    As you have requested @ChristopherMurphy:
I've got somewhat of a unique situation (I believe).
I have a 13" Macbook Pro 9,2 (mid-2012). It came with a 750gb SATA HDD and internal optical drive. I installed a Samsung 840 Pro 256gb SSD in place of the HDD, then put the HDD in place of the optical drive. I have the system set up so that the SSD is my primary OSX drive with one single visible partition. Then I have the HDD set up so that the first 500gb is an HFS partition, and the rest is set aside for bootcamp. It was originally one 750gb single HFS partition, but then I used the boot camp assistant to section off the last 250gb for windows.
For the life of me I couldn't get a bootcamp install to work off of a Boot Camp Assistant created a x64 Win7 USB stick, until I read somewhere that I needed to actually disconnect the sata connector for my SSD. This worked, and Win7 was able to format from FAT32 to NTFS, then install and boot correctly from the HDD (with the SSD unplugged), and leave the HFS 500gb partition intact.
Then when I plugged back in the SSD, OSX can see that there is a bootable partition when I go in to "Choose Startup Disk" in SysPrefs, and if I hit the option key while booting, but all I get is a black screen with a blinking cursor. I believe that x64 Win7 is mad at me because I have changed the drive numbers that it uses to references how to boot up properly. I believe the solution may lay in running a Win7 boot repair set of commands, but I can't seem to access the Win 7 recovery console or "Repair Installation" feature using the USB stick that BCA created.
To complicate matters further, I successfully created a Ubuntu 13.04 USB stick, used rEFIt to boot off of it, and then had it split off and use the second half of my 250gb ntfs partition on the HDD to install linux.
To complicate things even further, I am using filevault2 with FIPS encryption module to encrypt both the SSD, and the HFS partition on the HDD.
I have installed rEFIt and used "bless" to have it be my boot selection menu (as instructed here: https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Apple/MacBookAir/2-1#EFI_and_Partitio ning). I can boot successfully into OSX, and I can boot successfully into Ubuntu. I still can't boot into Win7 though.

Ubuntu was installed after Windows 7, that is correct.
Ubuntu and Win7 are installed on the final 250gb section of the 750gb hdd that I have connected to the Optical Drive SATA connector using a HDD optibay caddy.
i can successfully boot into the Filevault2 unlock screen, then into OSX on the SSD using the stock Apple EFI or rEFIt.
i can also successfully boot into Ubuntu using rEFIt.
The Apple EFI bootloader and rEFIt both can see the Windows installation and claim to be able to boot it, but it just hangs at a black screen with blinking cursor.
i have quite a bit of experience messing with partition tables in troubleshooting a friend's borked dell laptop that had a bunch of dell custom partitions on the drive. i've used Hiren's bootcd and many of the tools on it before. This EFI GPT + MBR stuff is a whole different animal for me though.
Can I use any of the commands listed below from a windows 7 recovery USB stick?
    Bcdboot C:\windows
    BOOTREC /FIXMBR
    BOOTREC /FIXBOOT
    BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD
    BOOTREC /SCANOS

Please check this blog post. Updating from Time Machine can cause this issue: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later).
    Thanks,
