Premiere Pro crashes whenever I try to do anything whether in a new project or one already created. Any troubleshooting ideas?

I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing.

Windows 7 Enterprise on a PC Dell 64-bit. It's Premiere Pro Creative Cloud and it is up to date. When I first installed Premiere Pro CC months ago, I had this same issue - couldn't do anything, the program would crash immediately. I was on the phone with Adobe IT for 6 hours before it started working. No clue what the guy did to make it work. He did say sometimes the program will continue to run in the background so I should go to Processes under the Task Manager and if I see it running to close it. That fixed the problem for awhile. Then I didn't use the program again for a couple months. Now when I try to use it, it crashes, same problem as originally, only this time, it is not running in the background.
Any ideas to help me avoid a 6 hour trouble-shooting session would be great. Thanks!

  • Studio Pro Crashes whenever I try importing AC3 Audio files

I used the Compressor preset "DVD: Best Quality 90 minutes" on my 8 minute video in order to create a movie to import into Studio Pro. I first selcted "MPEG-2.6Mbps 2 pass" and then "Dolby Digital Professional 2.0." (Shouldn't I only need to select the "MPEG-2.6Mbps 2 pass" to get both video and audio?)
    Anyway, I submit both.
The m2v video imports into Studio Pro just fine (it's without audio). When I import the associated ac3 file Studio Pro crashes!
I noticed in one tutorial when you move the "MPEG-2.6Mbps 2 pass" setting to the submit window that two lines appear for submission. One video and one audio. When I do that I only get the video. That's why I thought I might need the Dolby setting. "MPEG-2.6Mbps 2 pass" says "with AIFF audio" but all I get is the que for video.
    Using 4.2 Studio Pro
    OS X 10.6.6 and installed ProKitUpdate7.0.
Yikes. Help! Ten DVDs due tomorrow!

The usual steps if an app starts acting weird is to trash preferences, repair permissions and to create a new project with the same files. Has DVDSP been stable up to now? If none of that works, try a new encode in Compressor without making any adjustments to the audio settings,
BTW, to set up the DVD job in Compressor you do need to select both audio and video. The tutorial you watched probably selected "All" which brings them both into the job pane.
Since it's such a short movie, you could also try burning a test DVD directly from Compressor. The easiest way is to use the batch template.
If your DVD doesn't need more than a simple menu, bypassing DVDSP might meet your needs. You nave the option of choosing Hard Drive as output device. That creates a disk image from which you can burn multiple physical disks.

  • Premiere Pro crashes whenever I enable my onboard microphone for recording voiceover

I wanted to record a voiceover to an edited piece - it's not important the quality of my voiceover, so I planned to record using the onboard microphone on my Macbook Pro (OS10.6.6, 2.66 GHz Interl Core i7, 8GB RAM).
If I go into Preferences > Audio Hardware and select Built-In Input it crashes Premiere Pro.  I've submitted a crash report - but wonder if anyone has encountered anything similar or might know what I might do to avoid this or what might be causing the problem.  I know that I have recorded voiceover before using the onboard microphone so this seems strange.  (I've checked and the same problem occurs in After Effects - and it happens anytime I select one of the options that includes my onboard input.  I am able to use my built-in microphone with other applications such as quicktime and camtasia, and no problems).

Has anyone encountered this problem or have any ideas how to fix it?  I've seen several other people complain about the same or similar issues on other forums but can't find any solutions.  I ended up needing to export my video from Premiere Pro and then add the voiceover in iMovie, and I really would have preferred to remain in PP.  I'm confident it's not a hardware issue, so wonder whether anyone has any ideas about how to fix it...?

  • Skype crashes whenever i try to do anything...

I am able to successfully log on to Skype.  It then crashes when I try to call someone, IM someone, or any other function. Mac OSX 10.9.5Skype 7.9 Just performed all updates.  Deleted Skype three times and re downloaded with no success. Please help.

Negatory.  I've done that: no help.
After consulting with a support guy on the phone, we finally made some progress by moving one of my library files.  When I started iTunes back up, all of my podcasts were gone...but iTunes worked.  That is, at least until I started trying to resubscribe and redownload podcasts.  If I try subscribing to a podcast, I have a 75% chance of it crashing iTunes; I can check this by trying to go into my Podcast tab as it's downloading.  If I can click on all my podcasts and look at them while a new one is downloading, then the new one is fine and safe; if it freezes and crashes, then I know not to try to download that podcast again.  And yes, it seems to be specific podcasts that cause it.  This is really annoying.

  • Itunes crashes whenever I try to do anything...

Adding folders, deleting songs, rating music, whenever an album finishes, my itunes continually crashes. It's been doing this for the past few software updates, so I don't know what is going on. I've tried doing a total uninstall and that didn't work either. Anyone have any advice? I'm just about ready to trash this piece of junk program and get a music player that won't crash every fifteen minutes...

Okay.  So I can manage playlists fine, sync my iPod, and download podcasts from the Store, but whenever I so much as click on the Podcasts tab to look at or-- god forbid, Refresh-- iTunes freezes and stops running.  I have reinstalled iTunes and repaired Quicktime.  Nothing seems to work.  Help!

  • Firefox 3.6.12 crashes whenever I try to play a video on BBC news website.

I'm running Os x 10.5.8 and have fully updated my adobe flash for firefox. Every time I try to play a video on the BBC news website Firefox freezes, then crashes. Sometimes, but rarely upon reopening the video will work and it wont crash again. This problem only started with the latest patch on firefox. I run "NoScript" and "Adblock" but even with these turned off the problem persists.

I'm on Mac OSX 10.6.5 - and exactly the same problem. It seemed to start with Firefox 3.6.12 and 'latest' Flash upgrade (both done at the same time). Ive tried going back to the previous versions, but makes no difference.
Seems to be on 'auto-play' news video clips within the BBC news website, the loading info is 'stats.bbc.co.uk' as the dots spin - then crash...
Very annoying - is anybody looking at this Mozilla?

  • Crashes whenever I try to attach anything to an email

I can send and receive emails, but if I attempt to attach anything to an email, it locks up Firefox completely as soon as I click on the ATTACH button. I can only get out of it if I repeatedly click on the X in the upper right corner and repeatedly click on the END NOW button. Sometimes it takes several times to get it done.
I did not have this problem before your last few updates, but it happened on my desktop and now on this laptop. I am using Windows XP on both.

I'm aware that you supplied a crash stats link above however I must ask you do the following and provide all crash IDs so I may better serve you.
We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
#Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
#In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
#From that explorer window, double-click on the ''Mozilla'' folder, then double-click on ''Firefox'' and then on ''Crash reports''. Double-click on ''submitted''.
#Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to ''View'' > ''Arrange Icons by'' > ''Modified'' to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
#Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
#Paste each ID with '''bp-''' into the reply window on the forums.
    Thanks in advance!

    >It may be a corrupt font, but I have thousands installed. Is there any way to test for that?
Reply #8 was specifically to address this question.
    >I basically wanted to know if this is a 3.2.0 issue or not.
That's not what you asked. Perhaps asking a specific question will get you closer to a specific answer?
The titler does not crash for me at any stage of the Adobe updates for Premiere Pro, including 3.2.
    Cheers

    Hi justinB,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Please go to the location of the mentioned aticfx.dll and move it to your desktop. This file might be a result of bad installation of Graphics Drivers. Please launch the Premier Pro and check if it works.
