  • Premiere Pro 3.2 XDCAM EX "Codec Missing"

I downloaded and installed Premiere Pro 3.2.0 a few days ago and I'm really excited about getting to work with footage from Sony's EX-3.
I created a new project set for "XDCAM 1080 (HQ) 1080p" with a timebase of 23.976. The project opened up fine and when I opened the Import window the XDCAM files appear as Quicktime movies. I selected one and clicked "Import" but Adobe gives me an error message saying "A codec is missing or unavailable".
I am running Adobe Premiere Pro 3.2.0 on Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 on a Toshiba laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 @ 2.00 GHz with 2GB RAM.
Everything else works like a charm. DV footage, DVCPRO HD are no problem. But it won't import my XDCAM EX footage no matter what I do.
    Anybody got any suggestions?

Do you mean you installed the UPDATE to what you had?
It is not possible to download the actual program now, Adobe is selling CS4

  • When importing MPEG files into Premiere Pro CS3 the audio sequence is missing.

We have two computers running Premiere Pro CS3.  Our computer most recently installed with PPCS3 will only import an audio sequence with the MPEG video file when I extract the file directly from the DVD.  When I take the video folder from the DVD and drag to my Desktop, importing to PP from the desktop, it will only import the video sequence; audio does not appear.  What would cause this happen and how can I fix this?  It's too time consuming to continuously use my DVD Extractor.

1st, that old program has a different forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/premiere/premierepro_previous
2nd, To work with AC3 sound files in Premiere CS3, copy the ad2ac3dec.dll file from the Encore CS3 directory into the Premiere directory

  • Go to Next/Previous Marker shortcut bug in Premiere Pro 2014

The keyboard shortcuts Shift+M and Ctrl+Shift+M to move to markers takes you to the next edit point or marker, whichever comes first.
I  found that using the shortcuts to navigate to the next Marker in the timeline will take you to the next Marker or Edit point, not to the next Marker as it does in Premiere Pro CC.
If I have missed something, I would love to know. Otherwise, this seems to be a bug in the new software.

    Hi Kevin,
Thank you very much for your response. I now can see what I was doing wrong.
I have markers on the timeline. I had forgotten that I had also put some markers on my audio file.
As a result, each time I wanted to go to the next marker, of course, it went to the timeline or clip marker, whichever came first.
I have never made this mistake before.  Very embarrassed and sorry to waste anyone's time. I, at least, have now learnt something about working with markers that I didn't know.
    Thanks for helping me out,
    Thornie

  • New PC just for Adobe Premiere Pro

Hello all, I've decided against the iMac for a PC. It will only be used for video editing and some school work, not gaming. I've never built a computer and have little knowledge so I would appreciate all the help I can get.
This is the computer that I've been suggested with a budget of $1200 (before tax) including a LCD.
    CPU: Intel Core i7 2600 - $300
    Mainboard: MSI P67A-GD65 - $170
    RAM: 4G x 2 - $56
    HD: 1 TB WD - $55
    Case with 500W power supply
Thermaltake V9 BlaX Edition HDD Docking Stations, 600W power supply - $150
    Video Card: EVGA Geforce GTX570 - $300
    Total: $1031 + LG 24' LCD $170 = $1201
Does this computer bring out the best of Premiere Pro? (MPE, etc)
    Am I missing anything else?
As I have little idea, I don't know whether the prices are correct.
How should I improve the build, whether it be because it's inferior or there are better prices. Is that a good case?
My budget is $1200 but I'm definitely willing to go over that if you guys have suggestions on what I should change or any advice, etc.

You MUST have more than one hard drive... TWO is the absolute minimum, Three is better
My 3 hard drives are configured as... (WD = Western Digital)
    1 - 320G WD Win7 64bit Pro and all program installs
2 - 320G WD Win7 swap file and video project files
3 - 1T WD all video files... input & output files
Search Microsoft to find out how to redirect your Windows swap file

Trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708?tstart=0 for more) with Windows (or Mac OS) and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is not slowed down by trying to do everything
I find that the three drives I use work very well for me, for editing AVCHD video... some people use a 4th drive, so video INPUT files are on drive three and all OUTPUT files are on drive four... I only bought a mid-tower case instead of a full tower case (my bad... but had to fit in the space available on my office desk!) so I use the three drives that will fit
Depending on your exact hardware (motherboard brand & model AND USB2 enclosure brand & model AND external hard drive brand & model) AND the type of video file, you may... or may NOT... be able to use an external USB2 hard drive for SD (Standard Definition) video editing
Steve Grisetti in the Premiere Elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208?tstart=0 and Jim Simon in the Premiere Pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433?tstart=0 use USB externals for editing
A USB3 hard drive connected to a motherboard with USB3 is supposed to be fast enough for video editing (I don't have such, so don't know) but eSata DOES have a fast enough data transfer for video editing... I have not used this eSata Dock... for reference only, YMMV and all the usual disclaimers

  • Premiere Pro CS6 is Adding Horrible Hiss to my Audio... ?

I've been working on a project for a while; I actually started this video in a different editing software and switched to Premiere Pro halfway through, starting completely over. I've noticed this horrible noise in the background of a few of my recorded dialogue audio tracks. It's very noticable. At first I thought something was wrong with my H4n, and the noise was recorded onto the original file; but nope. I opened up the original audio file, and it sounds perfectly clean. I have added a little bit of gain in Premiere, but that couldn't be the cuplrit because I still hear this noise without the gain. On top of that, the editing software I used in the first place didn't appear to have the noise either. From what I can tell, Premiere Pro has to be the source of this aweful noise... I have no effects or anything added to thesee tracks; yet it continues to haunt my ears. Any ideas what this could be? Perhaps there's something I'm not seeing... ?
I find it hard to believe such a fatal issue could exist in a piece of renowned $800 software, but nothing else plays back this nasty sound. Please help!

Good news. As far as I can tell, the problem is fixed! I moved the affected clips into a new sequence created from the original audio file, and the noise dissappeared. I guess since I made the old sequence from the video, it had something incorrect for the audio presets which caused that noise. Thanks again for your help.

I own an iMac 2011. I am unable to reinstall and launch premiere pro cc. We I attempt to run the program I get a error message saying that the adobe application manager is missing or need to be updated. I reinstalled the manager but I am still unable to launch any of my programs from adobe. I tried to do a trail with a program and I am still getting the same message.

Davinci thank you for the update.
Please utilize any available uninstallers that are located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  Once all of the available uninstallers have been run you will then want to rerun the CC Cleaner Tool.  You can find directions on the use of the CC Cleaner Tool and a download link at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.  After the CC Cleaner Tool is run then please reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application from Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud for desktop.
The CC Cleaner Tool is designed to be used after running the uninstallers.  Without running the uninstallers first then a complete removal may not be possible.

  • "Premiere Pro CS3" is missing some codecs!

    Hi!
First of all, thanks for stoping by and read my post.
It's me first time ever using Premiere Pro CS3. I tried to some basic video editing on it, but I cannot hear any sound coming out of my laptop speakers; when i import the video clips. Even tho, I can hear them with "Windows Media Player". So, I investigated a bit and I did some of the things adviced by Adobe's knowledgebase thing.
And, I came up with a paper saying to download "MediaInfo" and "GSpot" to find out the codecs of the "mpg" files. Here is a report i made with the information given by those programs:

As you can see "Premiere Pro CS3" is missing some codecs, so my question is where can I download those?
I forgot to tell you, that I use a HP laptop Dual core Intel processor with Win Vista Home 2 GB of RAM and 160 GB of HD
    Thanks in advance
P.S. I am attaching the Diagdx.txt, even tho I don't think has to necesary
P.S. 2. I just saw another post similar to this one, but it doesn't tell you how to make "Premiere Pro" get the audio to work in my clips and finished project

Most good file converters can handle Video and Audio. If you are having issues with the Audio, both Audition and SoundBooth can convert to almost anything and any sample rate and bit depth.
Here's a LINK to the PrPro Wiki. There are links to various aspects of conversion there.
Now, remember that when working FROM MPEG-2 and also AC3, the files are compressed to begin with. Quality will suffer, and there is only one way around that - go back to the original source files. If not possible, then you have to determine if the quality has suffered too much.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Error Message Codec Missing or unavailable?

I know there is already a thread about this... but I couldn't figure out how to add to that thread. I have been googling for like 2 hours and get this figured out! Sorry if this is a silly question, I am very new!
A videographer sent my company a hard drive with video footage he took from our event. I need to split these clips up and import them to Premiere Pro.
    Here is all my info:
Premiere Pro 6.0.2 just updated about an hour ago-
    Mac OS X 10.7.5
I am trying to import and edit footage a video-ographer gave my company from an event. He sent it to us on an external hard drive. I am not sure what kind of camera he used.
I have downloaded RedCode or whatever. Updated Premiere Pro.
The file type is .mov. It plays fine in Quick Time 10, but only the sound plays in Quick Time Pro 7.
The Codecs for this file are MPEG-2 AND LINEAR PCM,  TIMECODE
I also need to split these clips into smaller clips before importing into Premiere Pro, the clips are all between 8-11GB, if you want to help me with that too.

I had the same issue after I re-installed both Mountain Lion and Adobe products. MOV (XDCAM) media was not reading on Premiere Pro CS6. "Codec Missing or Unavailable" kept prompting. Following ComputerNovice25 advice did not do the trick for this problem. But, I was able to fix issue by simply updating my OS. A ProApps Quicktime Codecs 1.0 was included in the update, which added the following video codecs for Quicktime-based applications:
    Apple Intermediate Codec
    Apple ProRes
    AVC-Intra
    DVCPRO HD
    HDV
    XDCAM HD / EX / HD422
    MPEG IMX
    Uncompressed 4:2:2
This update is highly recommended for all users running any MacOSX and any type of NLE.
    Hope this helps.

  • Missing Frames after exporting a video with Premiere Pro cc

Hi guys, i was working on adobe premiere pro cc (342) at work, is the first time i use cc,
by the way, 40 minutes mp4 video(h264/aac,720p), a video of 100 clips,50 images(title image), fade in/out (each clip), and other stuff( all the clips are mp4).
i go for exporting in h.264/aac, maximum quality rendeing, and after a perfect exporting(premiere pro cs6 takes 7 hours, premiere pro cc takes only 25-30 minutes, shocking) i see that the exported video is fantastic, but some video frames are missing(the image/title stille remains there), and sometimes even the image/title disappear for some frames, sometimes il like a intermitted flashing.
i use mpe with my HD7970, is the first time i use it, and during the exporting my AMD FX8350 runs over the 90% of use, it's ok for me, but i want to use ppcc and exporting without problems.
    can you help me?
    sry for my bad english.

I've never seen an export come out with frames missing.  Try turning of hardware acceleration.

  • CS6 Master Collection is missing Premiere Pro?  Where is it?

I purchased the CS6 Master Collection (for Windows) last semester partly because it had Premiere Pro.  Once I installed both discs, I have now realized that Premiere Pro is not on my computer.  I believe that is the only program that I am missing.  It even says it on the box.  It said it on the website.  It just doesn't show up anywhere on my computer.  Should I try re-installing the discs?
    Thanks for any help.

Just curious about a couple things.
    1) Reinstallation doesn't count against the number of licenses does it?  I haven't had time to do the reinstall yet, but I was wondering about that.
    2) Looking back at the computer specs I listed in the second reply to this post...do I meet the system requirements for Premiere Pro CS6 or any of the other programs that come with the Master Collection?  I know I could always use some upgrades to the computer, but is there anything that you would suggest looking into sooner rather than later?
I will try to do the reinstall within the next couple of days and hopefully that works.  I've got a few things I'd like to start working on.  Thanks again!

  • Premiere Pro CC / 2014 - Sony f5 XAVC - Codec Missing?

    Hi,
I'm trying to import footage that was shot on a Sony F5 camera at 2k 24p with the XAVC codec at various frame rates.
I've tried this on both Premiere Pro CC & Premiere Pro 2014 - both say 'Import failure - codec missing or unavailable'
From what I can find, premiere should support these files?
Adobe Premiere Pro Help | New features summary

    Sony RAW (F65, F55, F5, FS700)
Any help / suggestions much appreciated
    Thanks

You can try to convert your files into other format then load them into your premiere. The xavc may be a hard codec to handle with.

  • New document about sequence presets and codecs missing from Premiere Pro

If you're having problems with sequence presets and codecs missing from Premiere Pro, see this document for solutions for this activation issue.
This document relates to the following problems:
    - missing sequence presets when creating a new sequence
    - Encore error: "Encore will not launch in non-royalty bearing mode. The application needs to be serialized with a royalty bearing serial number."
    - When opening a project in Premiere Pro: "Error Adobe Premiere Pro: This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type."
    - When importing footage, the footage is missing audio or video.
These failures are all because Premiere Pro and Encore use some codecs that require activation before they can be used. If activation of these codecs has failed, these codecs will not be available to use.

    Well done.

  • Premiere Pro CC Title templates are missing + cannot be installed

    hi,
I just realised that I don't have any title templates but i need them quiet urgently.
I went on to this website: Library, title templates, template projects missing: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Encore
where it stated that you have to download a zip file and place it in the presets folder of Adobe Premiere.
I did that but it wasn"t working. Then I took the Premiere Pro Family Content Installers folder and wanted to install it in order to place it in the presets folder and the installation always gets broken off stating that there is an error.
Is anyone familiar with that kind of problem and if yes, does anyone know how I can fix it?
    Thanks in advance.
