Premiere Pro cs 5.52 vs Premiere Pro cs 6.01 (windows)

Hello to all,
I have this simple scene setup in my timeline:
11 clips with no cuts or transitions for a total sequence lenght of 10 minutes
Clips are in full hd (Avchd from a sony consumer cameras)
I send to encore to create a blu ray disk.
5.52 encoding time = 3.33 minutes
6.01 encoding time = 7.25 minutes
recording on blu ray disk on bd-rw (2x) about 4 minutes for both
I saw some posts that certified cs6 is slower than cs 5.5.
Are my results correct?
May I have a problem with my setup?
My config is:
Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
I7 [email protected] ghz
24 gb ddr3 cl 9 1600 mhz
boot disk 240 gb force Gt
raid 2 raptor 600 gb each
Nvdia geforce GTX 680 2gb (reference model)
Thank you in advance

My system is quite similar and I do see a slight difference in H.264 encoding performance on my PPBM5.5 benchmarks using both CS5.and CS6.  But our workflows are quite different in PPBM5.5 and in real life I encode either as a direct export from Premiere or in PPBM5 via AME as opposed to doing it in Encore.  Looking at my results (BillG) I see CS 5.5 a score of 43 seconds with a GTX580 and CS6 a score of 59 seconds.  Both scores at a clock of 4.2 GHZ and the much higher (in my case) project disk array.
If you want to try a direct export from the timeline it would be interesting to see how that compares to the dynamic linking from Premiere to Encore.  I do not think that ADdobe changed the encoder, it is possible that there now is just more code in between applications for many new features that CS6 has.

  • Premiere Pro 2.0 and Windows 7 - Direct Sound Input soundcard driver problem

My XP machine crashed, I reinstalled Premiere Pro 2.0 with Windows 7, and I got the following error: 'The Currently installed soundcard driver does not support Direct Sound Input. Recording audio is not possible.' The soundcard drivers are updated. Any ideas? Here's what I have: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor  3.40 GHz 8 GB, 64 bit. Thank you for looking.

Thanks! Though I upgraded to solve the problem, this is good to know.

VERY VERY VERY EASY (now, when I solved the problem, not before...!!!)
Insert Micropone or any jack in Micropone Input or Aux Input, on your sound card or motherboard !
AND NOW YOU CAN USE PREMIERE PRO 2.0
    Enjoy

  • Premiere Pro 6.5 and Windows 7

    >was told it would run on Win7 Home Premium.
I suggest you find the person who told you that, and ask how
    >It ran O.K. in dual monitor mode in Windows XPPro
The link I provided has a link to a Microsoft product to create a "virtual XP" session that worked in that case
But that Microsoft product requires at least Win7 Pro to run, so you can't use it with your current setup
I still use Premiere 6.5 to be able to operate an old Pinnacle Dv500 card to (slowly) digitize my old collection of VHS tapes before they won't play
I do this by dual-boot (aka multi-boot) with WinXP on one section of my boot drive and Win7 Pro 64bit on another section to run CS5
If you have a WinXP install CD, go to http://search.microsoft.com/search.aspx?mkt=en-US&setlang=en-US and do a search on dual boot or multi-boot to find out how

  • Why does Premiere Pro blue-screen if Windows Audio Service is enabled?

Since I enabled ASIO in Premiere Pro, I have to remember to disable the Windows Audio Service before starting Premiere Pro, or else it will blue-screen at some point, usually after I pause playback of a video clip.  It only happens in ASIO audio mode, and completely goes away if I disable Windows Audio.  Something is interacting badly between the Premiere Pro ASIO driver and the Windows Audio service.  The error message has something to do with USB host or something like that...I don't have it in front of me right now.
I tried to create a batch file to disable the service, then run Premiere Pro with "start /wait", then re-enable it when premiere is closed, but Premiere Pro cannot be run by that command, unlike every other executable I've ever used it on.  It just doesn't come up.  So I tried with a Powershell script instead, and when doing the equivalent in Powershell, Premiere Pro starts, but the window is blank and hangs forever until you kill it by clicking the X.  I would be fine with a scripting workaround, but Premiere Pro is really really really resistant to that apparently, so my only option is to remember to disable it manually EVERY SINGLE TIME.  It's just annoying when I forget to disable it and then I lose work, and probably hard drive clusters, when the blue-screen comes.  And if I want to export something to another program in the suite that doesn't use ASIO, I won't be able to play audio without closing Premiere and fiddling with the service.
Here are the specs that might be relevant:
    -Windows 7 x64
-M-Audio FastTrack Pro sound card (usb) [latest drivers]
    -12 GB RAM
    -Intel core i7
-gtx 460 video card with the ini file CUDA hack

I'll make sure to do that.  But in case the bug takes a long time to fix or gets pointed to M-Audio, who will most likely not ever fix it if it's in their stuff, does anybody know how I can get the batch file and/or powershell solution to work?  I don't really get why Premiere Pro would know or care who launched it as long as it launched in its own process.

  • Will Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 work on Windows 8.1

Will Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 work on Windows 8.1

    Hi,
    Here is my reply:
•What version of Premiere Elements? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Elements 12 with the 12.0.1 update).
    Premiere Elements 12
•What operating system? This should include specific minor version numbers, like "Mac OSX v10.6.8"---not just "Mac"
    Windows 8.1.
•Has this ever worked before?  If so, do you recall any changes you made to Premiere Elements, such as adding Plug-ins, brushes, etc.?  Did you make any changes to your system, such as updating hardware, printers or drivers; or installing/uninstalling any programs?
Worked in windows 8. No plug-ins added, etc.

This is not Adobe. Rather user to user. We are all visitors here.
Just a bit of history....back in the days of Premiere Elements 4, you could set a "poster frame" in what was called the Project area. You did this by right clicking a blank area there and, from the drop down menu that appeared, selecting View/Preview Area, and using the poster frame feature there.
As I said, when a video imports into Premiere Elements, the thumbnail of the import has been presenting as the first frame of the video. With this Preview area "poster frame" option, you could set the video's thumbnail in the Project area so that the first frame was another frame in the video. But, this "perk" was restricted to thumbnails of the video in Project area.
If you exported to file with the first frame modified video, the export's thumbnail in Windows Explorer would present with other than the real first frame or the poster frame as the first frame.
Also, in more recent versions, I have observed that the export to file does not display the real first frame of the video in Windows Explorer. Seems random, but I have not kept track.
And, remember, at the onset I wrote
As far as I have ever seen, Premiere Elements Windows uses the first frame of the video for its thumbnail in the program.
I know of no way within Premiere Elements to control what the program opts to do in this matter. In some compatibility
issues, it opts to give no image but a generic one.
I did not say that you can expect to have the Premiere Elements' export file's thumbnail in Windows displaying with its real first frame. And, the more you get into this, depending on the versions, more details need to be added to my comment about "...first frame of video for its thumbnail in the program..."
I would have to look into all this further to get perspective on the contributing factors.
    ATR
Add On...The Poster Frame feature appeared in versions 4, 7, 8, and 9 by my count.

  • How Do I Convert Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview to Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview and Back Without Reinstalling Windows?

    Howdy,
Much like in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, Windows 10 provides you with experience that allows you to convert your Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview to Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview without having to reinstall Windows.
Why would I need converting my Windows SKU (edition)
Currently, you may need this to fix issues with Windows not synchronizing browser favorites between different editions. For example, if you're using Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview in a test environment at work and Windows 10 Pro Technical
Preview at home, you won't see favorites added on Enterprise edition at home and vice versa. All the links added on Pro edition while browsing web at home won't appear on your work PC.
To convert Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview to Windows 10
    Enterprise Technical Preview:
    1. Press WindowsKey+PauseBreak and select Add Windows Features at the bottom left corner of System window.
    2. In the Add features to <OSName> window click to add Product key and type in the
public product key for Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview available here.
Voila! Your Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview is now converted to Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview.
To convert Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview to Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview:
Following the above procedure does NOT reveal Add features to Windows 10 link button in System window.
We could try doing this through DISM tool.
    1. Press WindowsKey+X and select Windows PowerShell (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
    2. At the command prompt type dism /online /Get-CurrentEdition to obtain information about the current edition of Windows:
    PS C:\Windows\system32> dism /online /Get-CurrentEdition
Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool

Editions that can be upgraded to:
(The current edition cannot be upgraded to any target editions.)
    The operation completed successfully.
Looks like Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview cannot be downgraded.
To downgrade edition from Enterprise to Pro, you can trick Windows setup into thinking it is running on Pro by going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion and changing the following keys:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion]
    "EditionID"="Enterprise"
    "ProductName"="Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview"
I believe for Pro edition this must be
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion]
    "EditionID"="Professional"
    "ProductName"="Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview"
After that you may run in-place upgrade using Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview Setup disc.
Note, if you can't find the Add features to option in Control panel, press Windows Key + R and type control /name Microsoft.WindowsAnytimeUpgrade.
If you want to, you could change Windows edition via DISM servicing tool by running:
    DISM /online /Set-Edition:Enterprise /ProductKey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX /AcceptEula
In case you can't access official page for
Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview download, or the page that contains
product key for Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview, you can always obtain the product key by looking for
F:\sources\pid.txt on the Windows Setup disc.

    Hi
Does anyone know How to run twin monitors on a MacBook Pro operating on a Windows Server 2008 R2 ?

I know this doesn't help you much, but, I think you have to see if your Mac pro does audio out via HDMI. I don't even know if mine does via DVI. I think it may have to do with the adapter. Try going into Audio MIDI and setting the digital out to multichannel
and using the toslink cable for now. Lemme see...apparently DVI does not carry audio at all. Hm. apparently monoprice could be helpful?  If I understand what you're saying correctly: you want to take DVI and multichannel audio via the Toslink and have it all go out over HDMI, right? Whooo..... amazon...looks like it's about $100http://www.amazon.com/Audio-SPDIF-Toslink-Converter-Adapter/dp/B0015YYOQQ
just a shot in the dark
    I'm probably wrong....or not

I don't know if this is the right section but I experience the following issue with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI installed on Windows 8.1. When I start Acrobat the related window opens normally but, after some scroll up and down along the document, it blocks, Acrobat doesn't respond to any command I can give and, in place of the pointer arrow, a vertical bar, as the one of the text editor appears. Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan through Adobe, although Scanner says its combatible with Windows 8. Cannot reinstall drivers because Brother claims they're built-in. Help!

I am using a Brother MFC 8460N and on Brother's site it says its compatible with win 8.1 and that the driver is already installed. When I try to scan I am told there is no preset (there was with win 7 though) and I have to "custom scan." When I try that, I hear a sound as if the printer is trying to scan, but the feeder can't pull the paper through. I then get a blank .pdf as my scan. Thanks for your advice. I will try that.

A few thoughts for diagnosis/testing purposes:
Have you recently run the disk utility and repaired HD and permissions? If not do so.
Boot into the Safe mode - hold down shift key on boot - and see if the problems are still there. Some functions won't work but see if anything odd happens.
Check your startup items. Get rid of them temporarily.
Create a new user account and see if the problems occur with the new account.
Lastly, be sure your backup is up-to-date.

Only Apple could hamstring and tie Mac OS to Windows. There isn't any other than whether you can download the drivers into Windows (you can) but Apple puts a block on the installer setup even if your mac does not support it.
Windows 7 needs at least Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.3 is what you should already have. And you are not getting security updates if you don't have at least 10.6.8 as was pointed out.  --- you arent using Software Update as you should. And you should backup and clone Mac (and Windows) as well.
You need Mountain Lion to use Boot Camp 5.x which supports Windows 7 & 8 and 64-bit.
I would upgrade to Lion if you can realizing that Rosetta and PowerPC are no longer supported though.

Is there a download of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software if I'm not using OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.3?
Yes, you can download the Boot Camp 5 Support Software here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638
How do I use the Boot Camp 5 Support Software I downloaded from the web page?
The download file is a .zip file. Double click it to uncompress it.
Double-click the Boot Camp disk image.
Copy the Boot Camp and "$WinPEDriver$" folders to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system (see question below for steps on how to format).
Install Windows, leaving the flash or hard drive attached to the USB port of your Mac.
Installation of the drivers can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. A completion dialog box will appear when everything is installed. Click Finish when the dialog appears.
When your system restarts your Windows 8 installation is done.
Note: If the flash drive or hard drive was not attached when you installed Windows and was inserted after restarting into Windows 8, double-click the Boot Camp folder, then locate and double click the "setup.exe" file to start the installation of the Boot Camp 5 Support Software.
How do I format USB media to the FAT file system?
Use Disk Utility to format a disk to use with a Windows computer. Here's how:
Important: Formatting a disk erases all the files on it. Copy any files you want to save to another disk before formatting the disk.
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk you want to format for use with Windows computers.
