Premiere Pro CS2 upgraded to Premiere Pro CS3

Hi all,
I currently have Adobe Production Studio Suite(CS2) installed on my PC. We have purchased Premiere Pro CS3 (with Encore CS3 & OnLocation) do I just install PP CS3 etc which will obviously just be installed alongside Adobe Production Studio Suite(CS2)?
My questions are: Is there a way to uninstall PP CS2 out of the Production Studio Suite? Or do I leave it and just work with PP CS3? If so will they interfere?
Thanks in advance.
Craig.

Leave it. They will not interefere and you may want to use it to modify older projects.

  • Difficulty installing upgrade version Premiere Pro CS3 on Sony Vaio

I hope someone can help me. I purchased Sony Vaio multi media PC with Premiere standard factory installed. Last year I purchased upgrade premiere pro CS3 and installed it I had shared component error that was resolved with adobe tech support. the program worked flowlessly until recently my hard drive crashed and had to be replaced. Since then when I try to install Premiere Pro upgrade it has locked the program and is asking for serial number factory installed premier standard. The very first time I installed upgrade program originally it never did that . What can I do?

    Contact Adobe.

  • Sony CX115E into Premiere Pro CS3

    Hi all,
I have ordered a Sony CX115E, asking will Premiere Pro CS3 recognise this camera? If not, when I have downloaded my footage onto the hard drive, will I be able to import the footage into Premiere?
    Thank you.

Alas, you will not be able to import or edit the footage as it is AVCHD.
You will either need to upgrade to CS5.5 or get NeoScene from Cineform.

  • Startup with Premiere Pro CS3 - few questions

    Hi,
I am totally newbie to video editing (and to ADOBE CS programs).
    To introduce, here's my setup.
New camcorder (Canon VIXIA HV30, HDV format, miniDV) - still in the owner manual for very basic things...
Premiere Pro CS3 (soon CS4 as entitled to upgrade)
    Vista x64 Home Premium
    Core 2 Duo 1.86 Ghz, 4GB RAM
    Firewire card
I just started to fool around with CS3 and with this camcorder, doing some tests (I use the mini DV HD tapes).
When I capture to Premiere, here are some of the annoying things happening :
    1) instead of viewing in real time what is happening, I get a multilingual screen saying that tape is being captured... (very very useful !!...)
    2) when I playback the scene, I see edges of things kind of blinking white - just the edges - some sort of what I would call 'distortion' but maybe it's not the right term... Is this just a matter of not having a high-end video card and then, I should not worry: the editing I would do would not appear on a DVD or a published video ? Or, am I doing something wrong ? (last but not least: does it have to do with the camera ? - although I do not see this when watching on the camera side viewer.)
    3) This camera can shoot 30p, 24p, hi-def (but HDV format - not AVCHD): what should be the setup to choose :
    - on the camera ?
    - when I launch Premiere and am prompted with a window to choose format?
Let's start with these basic questions...
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

    Rob,
1.) You *may* have problems with CS3 and 64-bit OS. CS4 is optimized to work with (though it is still a 32-bit app) 64-bit OS. Things *should* be better. CS3 works beautifully with 64-bit OS for some. Others are not so lucky.
2.) With the Capture of HDV, you will not get real-time Capture preview - nature of the beast.
3.) Can you post a tiny amount of this footage, or a still cap to show what it looks like?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Encore & Premiere Pro CS3 with Photoshop CS5

    Hi,
I have the CS3 suite on Vista 32 bit. I was wondering if I can keep the Premiere Pro CS3 and Encore CS3  and only upgrade Photoshop to CS5. Has anyone had any compatibility issues using this combination? Can Encore CS3 menus be easily edited in Photoshop CS5?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum
You cannot upgrade to a standalone program from a Suite.
But to answer your question: yes you can edit Encore CS3 menus with Photoshop CS5.

  • Premiere Pro CS3 on Mac versus Final Cut Pro

Any of you working on a mac with Premiere Pro CS3? If so, why did you choose Premiere over Final Cut Pro?
I'm currently using a Matrox RTX100 on a custom made PC that has all the correct pieces of hardware to make it work. It's running PPro 1.5 and I'm looking to upgrade to a new computer and wanted to know if PPro CS3 runs better or like butter on a Mac versus a PC. I will be using a Raid 0 1TB drive from G-Raid. For Mac the other option is Final Cut Studio 2.
I've been a Premiere user since 1999-2000 and have had my share of grief with it but have grown to like it very much especially with the integration with AE.
I want to know what your thoughts are if you were in the same position.
    Thanks,
    Frank

I'm using PP CS3 on the Mac, having recently switched from a Windows machine. Since I already owned the Windows version of CS3 Adobe allowed me to "crossgrade" to Mac for the cost of shipping. I took a look at FCP but saw no compelling reason to make the switch in editing programs. If you do a lot of editing in HD it might be a different story as PP doesn't include an intermediate codec (FCP does), has issues with HDV video/audio sync and lacks native support for XDCAM. Hopefully these particular weaknesses in PP will be addressed soon.
PP CS3 on the Mac has worked very well for me so far. The integration with AE is excellent. One other thing to note is that PP is available as a stand only app. This is no longer true of FCP, where you are forced to buy the entire Studio 2.

  • Enabling GPU rendering in Premiere Pro CS3

    Hi,
I've just built a computer for dedicated video editing and I am having trouble setting it up with Premiere. It takes a prohibitively long time to render anything.
It's running Windows 7 Home Premium and I've installed my copy of Adobe Premiere Pro CS3.
I've read that I will probably have to configure my computer / Premiere Pro to use the GPU to process the rendering but I don't know how to do this.
Would anyone be able to give me some (really easy to follow) pointers about how to set up and configure my PC to utilise the graphics card for processing?
    Many thanks,
    Jonny

  • Premiere pro cs3 ftp link

We purchased Premiere Pro CS3 couple years ago.  Had to reformat computer, can't reinstall because downloaded first time with trial and the 30 days is up.  Adobe keeps telling me they will make the Premiere Pro CS3 link to install the program and email the link to me.  This has been going on since the beginning of 2009.  Still no link.  upgraded to CS4 like Adobe suggested, having all kinds of problems.  Is it possible to use someone else's installation discs for CS3 but use my serial number to register it?

I have Premiere Pro CS4 installed on my desktop and my laptop. My projects are generally short in length (30 seconds to 30 minutes; some larger but the project size doesn't seem to make any difference) and I am still in SD, not HD.  Although a little slow because I'm running 32 bits, initially it worked fine on both, until . . . .
Desktop - all of a sudden I'm getting an error message "Licensing for this product has stopped working", followed by a couple similar error messages.  It will only stay open for 5 minutes tops before this message appears.  I've tried the solutions posted by Adobe and the Forums but nothing has worked.  I can't think of anything that changed on my computer that made this start happening.
Laptop - Same error message as above. It never did import to Media Composer. Then I had issues with the Dell XPS laptop so our IT dept worked on it and fixed those issues by replacing motherboard, memory and video card (old video card was a NVIDIA Geo Force 8800 GTX, new card is a ATI Mobility Radeon X1800, any thoughts as to whether this replacement was a step up or down from the NVIDIA are welcome). They reinstalled the programs and now Premiere works okay but it still won't import to Media Composer.  Media Composer opens but the project never gets there and I get the red X or the caution triangle.
Desktop - Premiere doesn't work but it does talk to Media Composer.  If I can get it to stay up long enough I can take the video I create from the laptop, open it on my desktop and then Import to Media Composer.
The desktop is a Dell XPS 720; Windows XP Professional Version 2002 w/Service Pack 3; 32 bit; Intel Core 2 Quad; Q6600 @ 2.40GHz; 2.40 GHz; 2.75 GB of RAM.
The laptop is a Dell XPS 720; Windows XP Professional Version 2002; 32 bit; Intel Core 2 CPU; T7200 @ 2.00GHz; 1.99 GHz; 3.25 GB of RAM.
This is extremely frustrating.  Especially when I didn't have any problems with CS3.  Thanks for any help you can provide

  • Premiere Pro CS3 vs FCE

I just bought my first Mac this month (MacBook Pro). I am changing my Adobe licenses over to Mac from Windows (ie:Photoshop CS3). My quandary is whether to change my Adobe Premier Pro license also. I have an older version of Premiere Pro but I can upgrade that to Premier Pro CS3 for $299, the same price as FCE.
I am not a pro user and don’t use a lot of the high end features of the Premiere Pro.
What are the limitations of FCE?
I guess what I am asking is some reasons to help rationalize giving up software that costs $799 retail (Premiere Pro CS3) and taking on FCE for $299.
Will I find anyone on this board that will tell me to keep PP CS3???
    Olin

I too once used Premiere 6.5 and find FCE pretty comparable
Some of things you will lose with FCE (that FCP has) are:
    Batch capturing
    Audio or video only capturing
The ability to work in lo rez the up rez later (I don't recall if Premiere has this but FCP does)
I much prefer motion keyframing in FCE over Premiere. With FCE 3.5 you get keyframing of filters as well
I liked Premiere's audio filters better but titling in FCE with Title3D (Boris) is better .. not to mention Livetype and Soundtrack
Of course, FCP is now a full suite of tools as is the new Premiere. Both of them come with high DVD creation programs (DVD Studio Pro and Encore respectively) though if you have a Mac you have iDVD and it is an adequate program depending on your needs

  • Premiere Pro CS3 camcorder help

I've been searching forums and support but can't find where a list of "Supported Camcorders" for Premiere Pro CS3 are. The closest i got was an answer to someone elses similar question which said to search the Knowledge base, (I didn't find crap in there) and the same person said to call "Tech Support"
(i actually need a code or product number).
I simply want to know which cameras will work with CS3!!!!  I know the Sondy PD150 and 170 work but they're too expensive. Any help before I purchase one that won't work??????????????????
    Thank you in advance.

Jamie, if you're using CS3 or earlier, you can't capture it. Plain and simple, CS3 doesn't recognize it. Adobe has upgraded CS4 and it captures AVCHD video just fine. I looked up and saw that your camera utilizes AVCHD video technology.
    Here's some suggestions:
1.You can try capturing it using another method (windows movie maker) and then importing it into CS3 but I'm not sure if that will work.
2.You can search a "video converter" online and download one that will convert your AVCHD video to a usable format (.mpg,.avi or other usable format) I have done this at home but have never found one that is free. Others have told me you can get a free one online.
3.Return your camera and get one that will work with your version of Premiere Pro CS3.
    4. Purchase Premiere Pro CS4
    5. I don't know what capabilities you or the camera has but some cameras can directly burn onto a DVD, if yours can and you have the capability of using a DVD player to capture video into PPCS3 then you can also try it that way.
I have captured video so many different ways that I'm amazed sometimes at how I've done it.
Sorry, doesn't seem to be a "quick" fix. And I hope this helped a little.

  • I Reinstalled Premiere Pro CS3, loaded a project I edited using CS3, and NOW I get jagged edges!

Hey everyone. I was using Premiere Pro CS3 to edit some footage I shot with my HPX170 in 1080i 24p Advanced. The P2 footage looked great in Premiere CS3. I upgraded to Premiere CS5, imported the same exact project into CS5 using the same 1080i 24p Advanced setting, and I got jagged stair stepping edges on the objects that were in sharp focus in my footage. Okay, I thought, I'll just reinstall Premiere Pro CS3 and continue editing the footage in CS3 since it looked normal in CS3 with no jagged edges. But, to my surprise, I'M GETTING THE SAME EXACT THING NOW IN PREMIERE PRO CS3!!!! What in the heck is up with that? How can the footage look normal when I imported and editied it before in CS3 and NOW I get jagged stair stepping edges?!!!! I even tried importing a fresh clip from the footage and that clip still has the jagged stair stepping edges. This makes no sense whatsoever! Does anyone know what's going on with this? It seems like an interlace artifact problem BUT, if that's the case, why didn't it do this the first time in Premiere Pro CS3? And trust me, I would have noticed right away if it did!

Hey Shooternz. Which exact playback settings are you asking about? I set the one of the playback settings to "Highest Quality" instead of "Automatic" and nothing changed. I unchecked 24p Pulldown in the "Interpret Footage" section and nothing changed (I don't even remember "24p Pulldown" being in the Interpret Footage section the first time I installed CS3, which is strange. Was that added in an update?). I tried different sizes like HD 1.5, HD 16:9, etc. in the Interpret Footage section and the jaggies are still there. Nothing seems to work. ??? This is weird because they weren't there the first time I edited the footage in CS3 when I installed CS3 the first time. One thing I noticed is, when I installed CS3 the second time and loaded the project, as the project was loading, I got a message that said something like "These project settings cannot be loaded. We will now switch to Desktop Mode." Would that have something to do with it you think?

  • Premiere pro CS3 workspace jitters

    Help required,
I have an issue with Premiere pro & After Effects CS3, the workspace jumps & the various workspace windows become jumbled.
It only happens on these programs & is does not affect the desktop.
Although the program still functions perfectly, capture, rendering& various export commands are not affected, work flow is disrupted with pop-up windows disappearing requiring going back to the rout menu to start over.
I believe I have all the latest drivers/service packs & have recently upgraded the graphics card to Quadro 1800 but the issue remains.
    system;
    Windows XP
    Premiere pro CS3
    After Effects CS4
    Quadro FX 1800 card.
any advice would be much appreciated as I do not have much hair left.
    phil.

I have a Microsoft mouse and NO added drivers, just the default in WinXp, and everything works as it should
As far as I know, you only need to install mouse drivers IF you have a mouse with special functions
Anyway, good that things are working for you... now, while they are, make a full boot drive backup to external media
I do, and have been able to restore everything after a hard drive crash... what I use is at

I don't get any $$ for sending people over there, I just like the product

  • Audio in Premiere Pro CS3 appears on one PC, not the other

    Hi everyone,
I'm the Network Administrator for a high school and we have a digital media lab here using Adobe Creative Suite 3: Master Collection.  All systems here are running Windows XP Professional and are on a Windows domain.  All users are standard users, with no administrative rights for obvious security reasons.  When I originally did the deployment of the lab by running sysprep on a reference computer and using ghost to deploy the rest of the computers, I noticed a problem with Premiere Pro CS3 after the deployment.  In that lab, none of the computers would capture video via firewire and the built in capture function in Adobe Premiere CS3.  I believe I have a post about this on these forums that was never resolved.  To get around this, I'd capture the footage for students in my office and then transfer it over to their network drives so they could import it into Premiere Pro CS3 and edit the footage.
Recently, the school purchased some HD cameras that record to a built in hard drive or an SDHC card.  The idea here was that the .MTS files could be copied from the camera to the computer running Premiere Pro CS3, the media files in .MTS format [at 1280x720] could be converted using KoyoteSoft's Free HD Converter using the settings MPEG2 [a preset], MPG2 as the format, 1280x720 // 16/9, 29.97 FPS, 9000 video bitrate, and 224 audio bitrate, and then the new media files could be imported into Premiere Pro CS3 and edited using the HDV 720p30 preset within Premiere Pro CS3.
This works great...on my office computer.
The problem is that if any student tries to import their footage on a computer in the digital media lab, the converted media files, the exact same ones that just imported into my Premiere Pro CS3 installation on a computer in my office with identical hardware as the computers in the digital media lab, fail to import the audio.  I can see the video with no problems in the lab, but no audio layer appears.  If I right click the video file and choose Open With> VLC or another media player, the media plays fine with audio.  All audio/video codecs that are installed on my machine are also installed on the digital media machines.  If I right click Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 from within a student account on those computers and choose Run As and use the local administrator account, Premiere Pro CS3 does the exact same thing, it still can't see the audio.  Adobe CS3 is fully up to date on both my office computer and all digital media computers.
Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated, spring break is coming up here this coming week and I'll be here all week.  Hoping to get this resolved during that time so students can edit their own movies.  Again, video imports, audio doesn't.  No audio layer appears.
    Thanks!

See if this helps... To work with AC3 sound files in Premiere CS3, copy the ad2ac3dec.dll file from the Encore CS3 directory into the Premiere directory

  • Unable to play Cineform avi files in Premiere Pro CS3

I am using Cineform NeoHD version 5.3.2 to convert the MXF files from my Canon XF300 into Cineform AVI.
Then I import these AVI files into Premiere Pro CS3 and here is where the problem begins.
Premiere is unable to play these Cineform files. All I get is about a second of audio, and a still frame of the video. This happens both in the source window, and also on the timeline.
The Cineform AVI files play perfectly fine when using Virtualdub for playback, but Windows media player behave just like Premiere.
Everything worked fine a week ago. Premiere appeared to use something called "ffdshow" to play the Cineform files, and I could edit without any trouble.
A few days ago, when I tried the same, that's when the problems came. Whenever I hit Play button in Premiere, a popup window came up, saying Premiere wanted to use ffdshow, and the options was "never", "no once", "yes once", "yes always".
When everything worked a week ago, I had to use the "yes always" option.
Now, it does not matter which option I use, Premiere will not play the Cineform files.
I did not make any changes to my computer between the day everything was okay, and when the problem appeared.
A Cineform representative suggested "ffdshow" is the troublemaker, so I uninstalled ffdshow and removed any traces of it I could find, but the same problem still exist.
    Then I uninstalled Cineform NeoHD
Uninstalled and reinstalled Production Premium CS3 suite
    Reinstalled Cineform NeoHD
Still same problem, nothing has changed.
It does not matter if I use 50i or 25p source files.
    My system: (Laptop)
    Windows Vista ultimate 64-bit
    Intel 2,66GHz quad core CPU
    4GB ram
    Nvidia Geforce 8800M GTX
3x internal 7200rpm harddrives set up with raid-0

Any ideas what might be wrong?

dont know , but this stuff might fix your prob.. overwrite whatever ffdshow screwed up...
    cfrepair utility:
    http://www.siliconimaging.com/DigitalCinema/SiliconImaging_support.html
    cineform codec (neo player)
    http://estore.cineform.com/NeoPlayer.aspx
never used the cfrepair thing..but did install neoplayer which gave me the codec to use cs3 with cf raw files ( sample of cf raw at the si 2k site -- avi ext )
ps.... to keep overhead down on my computer I took the resulting cineform "player" out of my startup directory....as it wants to run in background when you install it...no need for that for my purpose of just getting the codec
