Premiere Pro CS3 and Panasonic P2 (Win XP)

Hi everyone,
since last week I had no problem editing various footage with Premiere Pro CS3.
My problems has begun when I received a Panasonic P2 footage for editing.
Of course is not possible to import it into CS3!
Reading here and there, I found a news about the 3.1 update with Panasonic suport.
http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/3.0/help.html?content=WS55AC98C1-D132-486c-AB6 D-A937E5EC64A4.html
Yes. It is on the Adobe website.
But....
"OK, the 3.1 (P2 support) update is now available, for both Win and Mac, on the download site"....?!?!?
I didnt' find it. Of Course there is only CS5!
Who cares CS3 anymore?
ME!!!
ah,ah,ah
If anyone has ideas or advices...please, please...let me know!
P.S....possible no one is considering an Editing PC Machine NOT connected to Internet? Is it so strange?

Found this in about 5 seconds with Google.

  • Premiere pro CS6 and Panasonic AG-DV1000 check status: offline?

So just setting up my new comp....downloaded premiere pro from the cloud and hooked up my panasonic AG-DV1000 to capture some mini dv tapes. The deck is connected via fire wire to my comp, I am running windows 7 professional. when i open the capture screen i set up all the according info in hte dv/hdv device control settings but still cant get the deck online? please help......
    Van

I own that deck, and while I haven't used it with CC, here's a few things to try.
First, at left front of deck, put EDIT MODE switch at PASSIVE, and rotary knob to DV.
With Premiere closed, deck off, disconnect then reconnect 1394 and power on deck. If still not recognized, you may need to change the Windows 1394 driver to the LEGACY version, already in the PC and easy to do, see here - http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/troubleshooting/en370145?popup=true

  • Big Issues with Premiere Pro CS3 and Boris Graffiti 5

Is anyone else having major problems running Premiere CS3 with Graffiti 5 or the Graffiti update 5.1? I've downloaded every know driver, update, etc.. and I still lock up when trying to build a composition. After working on this for over 6 hours today, I finally uninstalled Graffiti 5. My system is brand new, been editing 14 years, but this is unbelievable. Even my tech is having problems running these two programs together. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you asked if they are CS3 compatible?

  • I Reinstalled Premiere Pro CS3, loaded a project I edited using CS3, and NOW I get jagged edges!

Hey everyone. I was using Premiere Pro CS3 to edit some footage I shot with my HPX170 in 1080i 24p Advanced. The P2 footage looked great in Premiere CS3. I upgraded to Premiere CS5, imported the same exact project into CS5 using the same 1080i 24p Advanced setting, and I got jagged stair stepping edges on the objects that were in sharp focus in my footage. Okay, I thought, I'll just reinstall Premiere Pro CS3 and continue editing the footage in CS3 since it looked normal in CS3 with no jagged edges. But, to my surprise, I'M GETTING THE SAME EXACT THING NOW IN PREMIERE PRO CS3!!!! What in the heck is up with that? How can the footage look normal when I imported and editied it before in CS3 and NOW I get jagged stair stepping edges?!!!! I even tried importing a fresh clip from the footage and that clip still has the jagged stair stepping edges. This makes no sense whatsoever! Does anyone know what's going on with this? It seems like an interlace artifact problem BUT, if that's the case, why didn't it do this the first time in Premiere Pro CS3? And trust me, I would have noticed right away if it did!

Hey Shooternz. Which exact playback settings are you asking about? I set the one of the playback settings to "Highest Quality" instead of "Automatic" and nothing changed. I unchecked 24p Pulldown in the "Interpret Footage" section and nothing changed (I don't even remember "24p Pulldown" being in the Interpret Footage section the first time I installed CS3, which is strange. Was that added in an update?). I tried different sizes like HD 1.5, HD 16:9, etc. in the Interpret Footage section and the jaggies are still there. Nothing seems to work. ??? This is weird because they weren't there the first time I edited the footage in CS3 when I installed CS3 the first time. One thing I noticed is, when I installed CS3 the second time and loaded the project, as the project was loading, I got a message that said something like "These project settings cannot be loaded. We will now switch to Desktop Mode." Would that have something to do with it you think?

  • Ideal Computer and Capture hardware for Premiere Pro CS3

I'm working with Premiere Pro CS3 and want to build a new computer based on the AMD platform. I'm currently looking at the AMD Phenom 9850, AMD's newest Quad-Core processor. I'm looking at pairing it with 4GB of DDR2 1066 Memory, a 1GB PCI-E x16 Video card with 4 DVI and 1 HDMI outputs, 2TB SATA 3.0GBs 7200 RPM Hard drives in a striped/mirrored RAID array, all running on one of Gigabyte's newest AM2+ mobos. I'll be running XP Pro SP3. I think I've got the computer locked down, unless anyone's got some insight for me into the specs on it. Also, does Premiere Pro CS3 take advantage of Vista's 64-bit yet? I hate Vista with a passion, but if I'll get significant performance increase from it, then I'll make the migration.
My big question is this: what's Adobe's recommended capture hardware? Budget isn't necessarily a consideration and I'd love something that's got HD-SDI BNC I/O in addition to the standard composite, YCrBr, and DV I/O. I'd also like something that has good pro-audio I/O integrated. Ideally something that would include multiple analog I/O via 1/4" or XLR as well as digital I/O via ADAT lightpipe and AES/EBU. BNC wordclock I/O would be nice too.
Any recommendations? I'm fairly new to the video world, though I've been in the pro audio business for ten years.
    Thanks in advance!

    >2TB SATA 3.0GBs 7200 RPM Hard drives in a striped/mirrored RAID array
For video, RAID 3 is your best option, found primarily on Areca cards.
For the kind of ins & outs you're looking for, I think the Matrox Axio will be your only option. That's ain't cheap, though.

  • Audio in Premiere Pro CS3 appears on one PC, not the other

    Hi everyone,
I'm the Network Administrator for a high school and we have a digital media lab here using Adobe Creative Suite 3: Master Collection.  All systems here are running Windows XP Professional and are on a Windows domain.  All users are standard users, with no administrative rights for obvious security reasons.  When I originally did the deployment of the lab by running sysprep on a reference computer and using ghost to deploy the rest of the computers, I noticed a problem with Premiere Pro CS3 after the deployment.  In that lab, none of the computers would capture video via firewire and the built in capture function in Adobe Premiere CS3.  I believe I have a post about this on these forums that was never resolved.  To get around this, I'd capture the footage for students in my office and then transfer it over to their network drives so they could import it into Premiere Pro CS3 and edit the footage.
Recently, the school purchased some HD cameras that record to a built in hard drive or an SDHC card.  The idea here was that the .MTS files could be copied from the camera to the computer running Premiere Pro CS3, the media files in .MTS format [at 1280x720] could be converted using KoyoteSoft's Free HD Converter using the settings MPEG2 [a preset], MPG2 as the format, 1280x720 // 16/9, 29.97 FPS, 9000 video bitrate, and 224 audio bitrate, and then the new media files could be imported into Premiere Pro CS3 and edited using the HDV 720p30 preset within Premiere Pro CS3.
This works great...on my office computer.
The problem is that if any student tries to import their footage on a computer in the digital media lab, the converted media files, the exact same ones that just imported into my Premiere Pro CS3 installation on a computer in my office with identical hardware as the computers in the digital media lab, fail to import the audio.  I can see the video with no problems in the lab, but no audio layer appears.  If I right click the video file and choose Open With> VLC or another media player, the media plays fine with audio.  All audio/video codecs that are installed on my machine are also installed on the digital media machines.  If I right click Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 from within a student account on those computers and choose Run As and use the local administrator account, Premiere Pro CS3 does the exact same thing, it still can't see the audio.  Adobe CS3 is fully up to date on both my office computer and all digital media computers.
Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated, spring break is coming up here this coming week and I'll be here all week.  Hoping to get this resolved during that time so students can edit their own movies.  Again, video imports, audio doesn't.  No audio layer appears.
    Thanks!

See if this helps... To work with AC3 sound files in Premiere CS3, copy the ad2ac3dec.dll file from the Encore CS3 directory into the Premiere directory

  • Unable to play Cineform avi files in Premiere Pro CS3

I am using Cineform NeoHD version 5.3.2 to convert the MXF files from my Canon XF300 into Cineform AVI.
Then I import these AVI files into Premiere Pro CS3 and here is where the problem begins.
Premiere is unable to play these Cineform files. All I get is about a second of audio, and a still frame of the video. This happens both in the source window, and also on the timeline.
The Cineform AVI files play perfectly fine when using Virtualdub for playback, but Windows media player behave just like Premiere.
Everything worked fine a week ago. Premiere appeared to use something called "ffdshow" to play the Cineform files, and I could edit without any trouble.
A few days ago, when I tried the same, that's when the problems came. Whenever I hit Play button in Premiere, a popup window came up, saying Premiere wanted to use ffdshow, and the options was "never", "no once", "yes once", "yes always".
When everything worked a week ago, I had to use the "yes always" option.
Now, it does not matter which option I use, Premiere will not play the Cineform files.
I did not make any changes to my computer between the day everything was okay, and when the problem appeared.
A Cineform representative suggested "ffdshow" is the troublemaker, so I uninstalled ffdshow and removed any traces of it I could find, but the same problem still exist.
    Then I uninstalled Cineform NeoHD
Uninstalled and reinstalled Production Premium CS3 suite
    Reinstalled Cineform NeoHD
Still same problem, nothing has changed.
It does not matter if I use 50i or 25p source files.
    My system: (Laptop)
    Windows Vista ultimate 64-bit
    Intel 2,66GHz quad core CPU
    4GB ram
    Nvidia Geforce 8800M GTX
3x internal 7200rpm harddrives set up with raid-0
    Anyone else experiencing this?
Any ideas what might be wrong?

dont know , but this stuff might fix your prob.. overwrite whatever ffdshow screwed up...
    cfrepair utility:
    http://www.siliconimaging.com/DigitalCinema/SiliconImaging_support.html
    cineform codec (neo player)
    http://estore.cineform.com/NeoPlayer.aspx
never used the cfrepair thing..but did install neoplayer which gave me the codec to use cs3 with cf raw files ( sample of cf raw at the si 2k site -- avi ext )
ps.... to keep overhead down on my computer I took the resulting cineform "player" out of my startup directory....as it wants to run in background when you install it...no need for that for my purpose of just getting the codec

  • Workaround: Premiere Pro CS3 & Adobe Audition 3.0

I'm not sure if this was already posted, but I discovered a little workaround to use both apps, in a similar way that Premiere Pro 2 and Adobe Audition 2 work together. Just make sure you have soundbooth installed too, and do these steps:
    Adobe Bridge:
    -Open Adobe Bridge
-Click in Edit > Preferences (or Press "Ctrl + K")
-Click in File Type Associations, and select the audio files like .wav, .mp3 or the format you'll edit in AA3, click in the down arrow and then Browse
-Point to the Audition.exe file in the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Audition 3.0\
    -Click OK and close Bridge
Now open the Premiere Pro CS3:
-Right click the audio track / piece you want to edit, select Edit in Adobe Soundbooth > Render and Replace
-It will render a temp file and open Soundbooth, you can close it now and come back to Premiere Pro CS3
-In the left window, where the audio and video files are placed in Premiere, right click in the new audio file that was rendered and Click Reveal in Bridge. It will open the Adobe Bridge window now.
-Right click in the file (in the Bridge window) and select Open with > Adobe Audition 3.0 (default).
-Be happy and edit the track in Adobe Audition now! When you save the file and come back to Premiere pro, it will re-render automatically and you wont touch your original source audio file!
I hope this helps a little the people who wants to use AA3 and Premiere Pro CS3, and if it was already posted, sorry for the incovenience!

Audition is Windows-only. PPro CS3 was ported to the Mac. The suite needs consistency across platforms. Do the math.
Audition 3 is available. Edit Original works. Use that.
Try the Soundbooth CS4 beta. Closer to Audition than ever before.

  • Encore & Premiere Pro CS3 with Photoshop CS5

    Hi,
I have the CS3 suite on Vista 32 bit. I was wondering if I can keep the Premiere Pro CS3 and Encore CS3  and only upgrade Photoshop to CS5. Has anyone had any compatibility issues using this combination? Can Encore CS3 menus be easily edited in Photoshop CS5?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum
You cannot upgrade to a standalone program from a Suite.
But to answer your question: yes you can edit Encore CS3 menus with Photoshop CS5.

  • Premiere Pro CS3 Crashes when I right click the timeline

I have Premiere Pro CS3, and it runs fine most of the time. But as soon as I right click on one of the video clips on the timeline, it crashes and gives me an error: "A serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down." This happens pretty much every time; but only when I right click on timeline clips. I'm using Windows 7. I also have it on my laptop (Also windows 7) and I don't have any trouble running it there. No crashes even once. Any ideas?

  • Premiere Pro CS3-CONSTANT Memory issues when editing/rendering/exporting

Alright, as said in the title I am currently using Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, and my issues are horrendous
No matter what, within 10 minutes of editing, Premiere will warn and then crash because of memory issues, starting with the message:
"Adobe Premiere Pro is running very low on system memory; please save your project and proceed with caution"
Also, whenever I try to export this project, within 800 frames of a 7000 frame project (currently), it displays the message:
"Error Compiling Movie", and then the previous message above if that hasn't already happened before
And eventually, the program will crash out of nowhere, with random windows errors
    Here's my specs:
    Intel i7 920 Processor
    6 GB DDR3 RAM
    Nvidia 480 GTX
    750 watt power supply
    24" Dell Ultrasharp Monitor
Now, I've noticed that whenever Premiere is getting close to crashing, my RAM gets up to around 4.7 GB being used, and then it crashes.
I have already gone into Edit-Preferences and tried switching from Performance to Memory; that hasn't fixed anything
I noticed that when I was just running my video over and over again, it stayed stable at 4 GB or so, so maybe its a rendering issue?
I have already tried lowering my number of processes running at any given time, including my antivirus program (Kaspersky) and even explorer, but it still crashes no matter what.
    ========================================================================================== ========
This is a SERIOUS issue for me, as even with all the normal crashes I could finish the video; but now I cannot even export my video at ALL without it crashing, and I have a plenty strong-enough computer to handle this, so what gives?
    Please help

Ok, well this has been getting me nowhere
I tried importing (both my CTRL-X method, and literally importing the project), and now the program won't even RENDER the footage, it just errors out at 800 frames (just like exporting)
    What is going on???
I used to use Premiere Pro 2.0 all the time, on a separate computer, but I have 6 GB of RAM, is this really impossible???
    EDIT:
And now, even after finally getting it to render (by saving after rendering before what crashed, and then starting it up and rendering again), all my footage looks like crap XP

  • Premiere Pro CS3 to Avis Workflow

Hello I wondered if you could help me...? I am shooting in Digi Beta and want to perform the offline edit in premiere pro cs3 (as i already use/have it) and the client wants to do the online edit afterwards - can anyone tell me the best way to do this?(if possible)do i have to do the simple offline edit in dv res in premiere pro cs3 and then take the master tapes and edl etc to an avid suite to finish? I have never done an offline to online edit before, all our previous edits have just been dv or HDV. Can premiere handle full res beta without compressing down to dv res? Not sure where to go as im a bit confused. If it can all be done in Premiere then that would be great as i have my suite sitting here!

  • Premiere Pro CS3 capture error after Aug 09 vista update

im using premiere pro cs3 on two PC's running vista.  after the last vista update last week, i can no longer import HDV or DV from my HV30.  both PC's detect the camera and ask to import into windows movie maker or other programs, but when i open premiere pro cs3 and click on capture, both PC's refuse to acknowledge that a camerat attached.  is anyone else having this error?  if so, have anyone found a soultion to this error?

Strange as it might sound, I'd also install the latest audio and video drivers. OS updates can kill these in a heartbeat. Test afterwards.
It sounds like Vista is seeing the camera OK, but I'd check just a bit deeper. Go to Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager (or whatever Vista might call it?), and with your camera attached and turned on, navigate to it. Open up the window for that device and check every panel. Any warnings, or errors anywhere?
In PrPro, check all of the Capture Preferences. Anything amiss there? Anything changed, since the update?
As a test, create a current Restore Point (do not trust that Vista has done this for you - do it manually to be sure), and then choose a Restore Point from before the Update (I'd actually go back several, if possilbe). Use that and test again. Does PrPro now see the camera and does it Capture as before? If the earlier examinations do not point up something, and this test shows that PrPro CAN Capture, you have at least narrowed it down to the Vista update.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
