  • PREMIERE PRO CS3 CRASHING on SNOWLEOPARD OS

    Please Help!
I searched the forum - but I couldn't find anything that matched this exactly.
Adobe Premier Pro CS3 crashes every 5-10 minutes or so on my mac with no crash report!
I am running the fastest MAC available - with a solid state hard drive and 24G of RAM and ATI Radeon HD 5870 card.
After the first few crashes, one report came up - "Premier Pro Debug Event" - and I took a screen Grab for dear life.
    It reads:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
    [/Drusilla/pro/3.2.0/Libraries/UIFramework/Make/Mac/../../Src/
    Document.cpp-53]
    Kind Regards,
    Ultan

    hmmm,
that ssd stuff is over my head to be honest. I've heard that some systems with ssd work really fast but I have a feeling that the seek time and speed etc is not quite up to par in some cases... I've only read a little about this ...so all I know is that the ssd stuff hasn't been totally tested and proven, like normal hard drives have been...raid and so on
basically what you want is to spread the load over the most hard drives you can so the seek time and response time ( in accordance with your ram and demand on the graphics card ...front side bus, etc ) is the fastest you can make it...how that happens is mostly dependent ( IMO ) on the material you're working with ( source stuff and export demand -- or product ).... ssd just doesnt automatically say anything to me personally cause I have no clue how fast it is ....and this is a physical thing ( how close to the center of the drive disk is the pagefile, info you are dealing wtih etc )
most drives for editing are 7200rpm and average seek time is below 10ms... with raid and decent allocation of drives this gets sorta "as fast as it gets" ....and you have to just deal with it.  Since I dont know exactly what you have and what you can do to make it faster there's not much I can say about this.  You might have to put your os and programs on a fast hard drive and use some raid array for your source assets and exports and so on.. depending on tons of factors.... ( intermediate prores 422 and proxy editing ? )... I have no idea.  As a rule I would say, get the biggest fastest hard drive you can for you os and programs and then get the biggest and fastest hard drives for your assets and exports....and if they are only 10% used, all the better....makes them faster seek time wise....and look at Harms info re: all the basic hardware configs to get the most out of that...and shut down everything that is running in "background" that you dont need for editing...

  • Premiere Pro CS3 Crashes when I right click the timeline

I have Premiere Pro CS3, and it runs fine most of the time. But as soon as I right click on one of the video clips on the timeline, it crashes and gives me an error: "A serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down." This happens pretty much every time; but only when I right click on timeline clips. I'm using Windows 7. I also have it on my laptop (Also windows 7) and I don't have any trouble running it there. No crashes even once. Any ideas?

  • Premiere Pro CS3 crashing on export

I have been using Premiere Pro CS3 for a while and I assure you I have NEVER touched any export settings, but now it is suddenly crashing on export.
There is no error message or anything, the program just turns off.
A friend suggested I change the settings to uncompressed.
The program was set to "Microsoft AVI" by default, so I changed it to "Uncompressed Microsoft AVI".  Now it exports without crashing, but if I play the video in Quicktime, there is no video or sound, and if I play it in media player, there is sound, but no video.

  • Premiere Pro CS3: Crash bei Erstellen eines neuen Projekts.

    Hallo!
    Vielen Dank vorab.

  • Premiere Pro CS3 Crashed, and now will no longer start back up again..

I was working on a project today using Cs3, I've had it since spring and it always worked fine until tonight when i was editing a project.. In the middle of my editing the program unexpectedly froze than crashed...
I then tried to restart it and i got this message which popped up in 4 windows..
" Sorry a serious error has occurred that required adobe premiere pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project" i then hit ok and it exited completely, i tried to open it again, same thing..
so then i restarted my computer and i got a different message that said something like i wasn't aloud to use the program anymore and had to reinstall it or cal adobe tech support... so i put the CD in and re-installed it and got the same message when opening the program up again "serious error messages" I then went to the CS3 updates to update it back to version 3.2.0. But still continue to get the error message.
so something must have happened during my edit that caused it to stop working, but i have no idea what it could be. I even tried to do a System restore..which also got a error message....thanks vista...
anyways..i can use some help, thanks
    :edit:
i tried to reinstall Premiere Pro 1.5 since Cs3 was an upgrade.. I reinstalled it then reinstalled Cs3 again, and i still get the "serious error Message" so that didn't work...

Ok i looked at the Troubleshooting site Eddie gave me, and tried to answer the questions as best i could.
Never used any Adobe Beta software.
I freed up a lot of space off of my hard drive, i only had like 5GB-10GB left, but it still worked when having such low space
I did a disk clean up as well as disk defragment, and moved a lot of high GB files over to my second hard drive. i have over 27GB of free storage left now, its a 150GB hard driver. should i have more?
I Tried holding down the Shift button, but didn't help
I tried to open up Encore Cs3 which came with Premiere, i barely ever used this one, but its funny how this wont work either. I think i used it once before and it worked. But it old how none of my Cs3 Programs. never installed On location.
also this isn't a pirated copy or anything, i bought it as an Upgrade from Amazon back in the spring. Upgrading from Premiere Pro 1.5 which also wasn't pirated, i got that as a gift.
My older version of Premier, 1.5 still works, and my older versions of Photo shop (CS?) and After effects (6.5) still work. So that's good. Just having a problem with Cs3 :(

  • Premiere Pro CS3 crashes when exporting to Encore CS3

"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down.  We will attempt to save your current project."
That is the error message.  I am editing an AVCHD project in which I already converted as an .mpg prior to importing into Premiere (since CS3 does not import AVCHD natively).  This is the first time I am doing this workflow, as a client has given me AVCHD files to work with.  The project RT is 1 hr 2 min.  I need to create a DVD and Blu-ray of this project.
    System Specs
    ~Processor:  AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-Core Processor 2.30GHz
    ~RAM:  4.00 GB
    ~OS:  Windows Vista 32-bit
~Have the most recent updates for all CS3 programs
    I tried:
    Exporting to Encore
~Tried various settings for DVD.  NTSC Progressive Widescreen High Quality, Medium, etc.
~Tried the preset for exporting Blu-ray to Encore.
~Created a new sequence with about 7 min of the project to see if it was a corrupt file; same results.
    Using Adobe Media Encoder
~Used various presets and custom settings with the same result [error message; Premiere "stops working" and then crashes]
~Created a new sequence with about 7 min of the project to see if it was a corrupt file; same results.
I observed the Windows Task Manager when Premiere is opened and then when it crashes.  The RAM is at 1.12GB before the project is opened, goes up to 2.17GB when it is opened, and remains about the same when it crashes.  The CPU Usage is about 4-10% before the project is opened, spikes dramatically (+/- 10-80%) when Premiere is opened as well when it crashes.
I appreciate any and all help.  Thank you to everybody in advance who will contribute a solution to my problem!

  • Premiere Pro CS3 Crashing Frequently -

    Hi Everyone
PP is starting to crash every 5 minutes and it is giving us major headaches.
When we first started using CS3 it was fine but after using it a while it started crashing, we save frequently to avoid losing work but now it crashes more frequently and takes times to load. It is making it very hard to complete the project as we are wasting too much time because of the crashes.
    Information:
We are putting together 8 x 30 min and one 2 hour (sports shows). We are using 26 hours of DV footage in SD. Project settings PAL DV.
    Technical hardware:
    Intel Dual Core 2 gz
    Ram 3gb
Nvidia 256 graphics card with latest drivers.
Vista 32 bit with latest updates
Premeire Pro CS3 with all latest updates.
All Project files are stored on a external hard drive. Project file is now 30 mb.
Premiere Pro doesn't give us any error message when it crashes. Just starts going slow, then doesn't respond, then a few seconds later ' Premiere Pro has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows is looking for a solution'. it then just hangs for a few mintues then closes down with no further information. Windows doesn't come up with a solution either. All other software on the computer is stable.
This doesn't occur on a particular sequence, or when we are using footage from a particular tape etc (as far as we can see). Just seems to be quite random. We can't render or export a sequence because Premiere crashes during the process. As you can imagine on a project this big we are using many nested sequences.
We have tried renaming the project which didn't work but want to try some other suggestions.
I am not sure what information would be useful to help identify this problem. If you need any further information please let us know.
We would appreciate any help or suggestions you can give us.
    Regards, Carl

    Dear everyone,
We are having just the same problem for past month:
    - we tried almost everything: tried premier pro 1.5, and CS3.
    - we reinstalled windowsXP for about 10 times, so now we are using absolutely clean system that is installed on new hard drive (there's only windows on it, premier and necessary drivers )
    - we are using fast computer
    - we were working with uncompressed video and now we trasnformed it into DV,
Still, nothing really hepled us and it crashes all the time.
anyway, if anybody knows any solutions to frequent crashes of premier pro (1.5 or CS3), please help!
project size now about 260 mb
    computer:
    motherboard - asus P5B,
    RAM - corsar ddr2 - 4 GB
    processor - core 2 duo 6600 (2*2.4)
video editing card - deckLink extreme
2 raids (each about 2 TB)
Now, even autosave stopped working at all, and pretty often when trying to save the project premier crashes.
Does anyone know how to decrease the size of the project? but we can't break it apart at the moment because we are need occasionally all the sequences that are in the project now...
We would be thankful for any help...
    Dusan

Can someone with the knowledge I don't have take a quick glance and tell me what could be causing this debug error [..\..\Src\VideoFrameManipulators.cpp-563], and if my computer is strong enough to run Premiere? I cannot address the capabilities, or limitations of FCP, as I have never used it.
However, there are several folk here, who have X-platform studios, and some have, and still use, FCP.
They should be able to help you there.
As for the FW connection to the externals, is it FW-400 (IEEE-1394a) or FW-800 (IEEE-1394b)? FW-400 will still be quite slow, but I edit to/from FW-800's, and they are quite fast. Now, I have to admit that I am editing SD material, so it is not a really useful observation to help you.
Good luck, and look for some of those FCP-users to drop by. Wish I could help, but Steve Jobs will not even let me close to a Mac...

  • Premiere Pro CS3 Crashes Constantly

    Can anyone set me straight?
I'm running an Intel Quad Core Q9450 @ 2.66 GHz
    4GB of Ram
2 NVIDIA Quadro FX 570 cards
    2003 XP Pro x64 SP2
Premiere Pro has become more and more unstable over the months to the point where I can't run Bridge and PP at the same time without one of them crashing.  I've been tolerating it for a while, but it's gotten to be too much.  Any suggestions?

A step in time saves nine, regularly keep your system in good stead by keeping it optimised.

  • Premiere Pro CS3 crashes when trying to load my projects.

    Hi,
All help is appreciated! I'm going nuts after searching for days through forums for solutions.
The problem started when I was working on a project. I realised that the HD Quality footage I was editing with wasn't converted properly so i downloaded a new program that would help convert to a higher quality. With the program came the "K-Lite Codec Pack". I decided it couldn't hurt so i installed it. After doing so, everytime i opened Premiere it would crash after i tried to load any project. I tried re-installing Premiere, detecting broken codecs, uninstalling the K-Lite Codec Pack and have no luck. Briefly after re-installing Premiere it strangely worked a couple of times but then somehow it's up to it old tricks and crashing on load. Does it have anything to do with the "Main Concept" codecs missing? I also tried getting the ad2ac3dec.dll and putting it in the folder but it has done nothing. I even went back to Premiere CS2 but same issue!
I have a lot of time invested in these projects so any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank-you.

despite sounding very time consuming, I think thats exactly what I'd doing in this case. something has gone horridly wrong (a file has been overwritten somewhere) and a fresh OS sounds like a pretty good aproach to me!

  • Premiere Pro CS3 crash with many video files

    Hi
I got back from my Ski vacation with many short (few minutes) videos which I took on Canon P&S camera, about 50 files.
I imported the 50 files to Premiere and tried to work on a movie, but everything works slow and every few commads the premiere crashes.
I notice that for each new file I add to the project 20K of rams are used - 1G for 50 files. I also get message of low resources from premere which recommend to save my works.
The video are standard video (not HD) 30fps, and the project is also standard.
    Why is this happening?
Does the premiere have a limitation for number for files to be imported?
Does it have problem with the video format?
How can I overcome this and get a stable editing environment?
    Thanks

Sorry for the CAPS Lock, I was writing from my mobile, and for some reason it was locked
so you do not recommend any of those codec package. How are you dealing with all video and audio formats, and subtitles? ffdshow does all for me.
dont' worry I dont have Klite installed
so you belive that if one of two codecs you recommened installed well and working it will solve my problem and work much better then FFDSHOW
I also have the option for converting the file to another format. under what name will I found a sutible format in the conversion software?

  • Error in Premiere Pro CS3.

Whenever I had a problem and i posted it here, i always got helped by you guys, so first of all, i want to thank those who helped me out there, and wanted you to know that i really appreciate that help.
Here is probably my last issue with Premiere Pro CS3.
    The problem:
From time to time, i get an error. A message saying: " sorry a serious error has occurred that requires adobe premiere pro to shut down"
It saves the current project, and when i start premiere over, it loads it from there. It usually happens when:
I ' activate ' an effect, example: I change the opacity to 0 ( typing it with the keyboard as a percentage ) and press enter. Right when i press enter, it pops up. ( it happens with any kind of effect, just from time to time, when i ' activate ' it)
When i minimize an audio file by dragging it to the left or the right, it happens when i release the right mouse button. These are just examples. The issue is that when i make a change, this error repeats.
I'd love to hear what the issue may be.
    Appreciate any kind of help.

Can you give us the specs. of one of the typical Projects, and their Assets, where you see this happening?
Next, can you give us the specs. of your computer, in as much detail, as is possible?
Can you also list the programs/processes, that load at boot up? A screen-cap, or report from Process Explorer will tell us a lot.
Also, before beginning an editing session, you might want to look into this ARTICLE. If you have Win7, be sure to look down-thread for the link to Black Viper's Web site for tuning that OS.
This ARTICLE might be useful for telling you what is happening with your system and your programs, when you get the error and crash.
    Good luck,

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 3.2.0 update

Thought I'd share a bit of information on the 3.2.0 update that will be coming out via AUM this morning. The update will come out first via AUM, then will be available on the updates page shortly after at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/?ogn=EN_US-gntray_dl_updates.
The readme will also be hosted at http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/premierepro/releasenotes.html.
Dave Helmly has posted about the update on his blog, as well: http://blogs.adobe.com/davtechtable/2008/04/xdcam_and_premiere_32.html#more
    New in this release:
    - This update adds compatibility with the Sony XDCAM range of cameras. This includes disc-based XDCAM and XDCAM HD cameras., and the newer SxS-based XDCAM EX cameras. Content from XDCAM cameras can be imported and edited natively without transcoding or conversion. This makes possible similar workflows to Panasonic P2, including the ability to edit content directly from XDCAM EX cameras.
    - Note: Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 3.2.0 does not support IMX editing or XDCAM HD50 editing at this time. Export to XDCAM is also not possible.
    - Adobe Premiere Pro now has presets for HDV 24p. Note: Adobe Premiere Pro does NOT support print to tape in 24p mode.
    - Improved handling of MPEG streams (e.g.: HDV video), along with error detection. MPEG stream errors can occur during recording due to tape dropouts, record start/stop glitches, timecode breaks, etc. Bad frames caused by these MPEG stream errors are identified during import/indexing or playback. These frames will play back as full red frames to alert the user that there is a problem in the encoded video at that location. Adobe Premiere Pro will also log error messages to the Events panel, indicating where the error(s) were encountered in the stream. Users can open the Events panel, determine the location of the MPEG stream error, navigate to that location in the clip and take corrective action, such as trimming out the video glitch or covering up the red frames with duplicated good frames copied from before or after the glitch. Note: MPEG files will need to be re-indexed to take advantage of the improvements in Adobe
Premiere Pro CS3 3.2.0. For more information, please see Working with MPEG Files.
    Notable fixes:
    - Titles/Footage no longer show up as offline when reloading saved projects.
    - Rendered preview files no longer missing when reloading saved projects.
    - Certain filters and/or transitions are now applied correctly when reloading saved projects, until the timeline is forcibly refreshed.
    - When exporting via the Adobe Media Encoder, there is no longer a long delay before the progress dialog shows and rendering resums (Mac OS 10.5.x only).
    - 24p HDV clips shot on a Canon XH A1 no longer come in incorrectly as 30 fps clips.
    - Creating an offline clip in the project window then attempting to link it to media on disk no longer results in the application crashing.
    - QT PAL movies rendered out of Adobe After Effects® software are no longer incorrectly identified as requiring rendering in a Adobe Premiere Pro PAL project.
    - DV Clips of certain specific durations are no longer incorrectly identified on the timeline as requiring rendering.
    - For P2 DVCPro clips, the right-most pixel column no longer contains video garbage.
    - Fixed a memory fragmentation problem that would occur with projects with many custom bin columns.
    - Fixed a bug where exporting to a QuickTime movie (with QT 7.4) would crash the application.
    - Selecting "display only exact name matches" when relinking clip no longer crashes on Leopard.
    - Fixed an issue where 30p and 30f HDV clips would incorrectly be identified as requiring rendering in a 29.97 progressive project.

    Harm,
I don't use HDV, so I'm not sure if this is the case or not, but in the top post, there is mention of having to re-index the MPEG files "to take advantage of the improvements in Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 3.2.0." While it seems this should be an automatic process, maybe wiping out the previously-created index files (I seem to remember them being in the Media Cache folder when importing MPG files from DVD rips and such) would let the project open. Or, maybe the old trick of importing an existing project into a new one? Just a couple thoughts...
To the other poster: surely, I don't jest. At least, not when it comes to anything in the video production industry and my operation in it. Long ago, I gave up expecting perfection from any particular piece of hardware or software, and just focused on being creative. That's why I got into this. I refuse to let any piece of equipment dictate what I can or can't do--I just find another way around. Funny how we managed to make it as a species and a civilization as long as we have, and now that computers are here to make our lives easier (*snort*), we're quick to raise our ire about everything that's wrong with them. That's why I will always marvel at things built long ago prior to the advent of all the technology we take for granted today.
Anyway, we're all entitled to our opinions, and I've taken this thread completely off-topic. My apologies, so...

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 image on student machines

Hello! At the beginning of the 2008/2009 school year I installed Adobe Creative Suite 3: Master Collection on some of our school computers, a media lab. All the applications work great, such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, etc. The one application we can't get to work for the life of us is Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. It works on my machine in my office, which is a standalone box, but for machines which have been sysprepped and imaged, it doesn't work the same. It will render videos fine if they're slideshows made from individual pictures and music. But as soon as you try to add video, Premiere either crashes, or bluescreens. Happens on any one of the 30 computers in the lab, and my computer in my office which it works perfectly on, is identical hardware. Exact same builds. Only difference is mine wasn't sysprepped and Ghosted, and I'm an Administrator.
The other interesting thing, is none of the machines will capture. Not a single one. They all show "Capture device offline", but when I plug the cameras into my machine, it picks up perfectly. So tell me, to install Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, do I need to install individually on every machine? Or is there something else I'm missing?
Also, the students are not local administrators. They're just "Domain Users" on a Windows XP machine part of a server 2003 domain.
Thanks! I look forward to your replies.

    Some troubleshooting tips.
    Cheers
    Eddie
