Premiere Pro CS4 export problem

I am a new user of PP CS4 and I have created a short 2 1/2 minute clip with no problems.
I have selected all the appropriate setting as per Adobe PP CS4 "Classroom In A Book" instructions.
Exporting the clip as a MPEG2-DVD, NTSC 720x480, 29.97 Drop Frame Video.
Main Concept MPEG Video, Variable Bit Rate.
However, when I go to export I get the following error everytime:
Adobe Media Encoder CS4 quit unexpectedly.
Here are the details of the error report.

Can anyone help me with this?
Richard

Welcome to the forum.
Looks like you are on an iMac. To help others help you, can you post the specs of your system?
I was about to post links to a bunch of troubleshooting articles, but they were written for PC's so I dobut that any would apply here.
With the important data, someone is very likely to see a potential problem and help you.
In general terms, most problems sort out this way:
System
Assets
Project/Sequence settings
Those given, the exact detail will get you closer to resolution.
Good luck,

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 Exporting Problem

I recorded a video in 720p, 1280HQ at 30fps, PAL. I then imported these clips onto my pc as MP4 files.
I converted these MP4 files to AVI files using a MPEG4 codec.
The sequence I used of Editing Mode P2 720p 60Hz DVCPROHD.
I need to export my finished project as a Quicktime file using a H.264 codec (16.9) 640x360.
Everytime I try this Adobe Media Encorder encodes the audio only, no video.
    Can anyone help?

I can't avoid Quicktime if I can help it at all.
I'm not sure about the PAL thing. My camera has two options for "Video Out!, PAL and NTSC. I'm fairly sure the videos weren't recorded as PAL because they were 30fps.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 "Export Settings" window does not show up.

    Hello,
I've run into a new problem with Premiere Pro CS4. Basically, when I select "File > Export > Media" my Export Settings window doesn't show up. If I click on the Premiere window I hear the beeping sound and nothing happens, if I hit Enter the Export Data window pops up and then Media Encoder opens. So, it seems that my Export Settings window is still open but I can't see it and make the necessary setting changes. It does not appear to be minimized and I can not locate it on my desktop anywhere. This is really frustrating because I was able to see the Export Settings window just a few weeks ago when I was exporting my last project. I've tried changing my screen resolutions but that didnt reveal the Export Settings window.
Does anyone know what is going on here and, more importantly, how I can fix it? I am really stuck here and am working against a deadline. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
    -Ben

    Ben,
THANK YOU!!!! For two days I have been struggling with the exact same issue. And of course it was simple to fix, if I had just thought about it. Thank you for taking the time to post your experience. I had tried all sorts of stuff trying to get everything onto my #1 monitor, with desktop & workspace resets, resizing my display, etc. After reading and printing your post,
    Hitting ALT+Space,
    Down Arrow,
    Enter,
and then pressing the left arrow and watching my Export window slide into view, I was laughing so hard, that I was tearing up. It would have been a month waiting for my second monitor to get repaired to get to see what was still being displayed on this ghost monitor. Each week, I video and edit our church's service and then post three versions (Windows Media Player, Ipod-MP4, MP3 Audio) of it to our web site. I would have been four weeks behind were it not for your post.
    Again, a BIG Thank You!!!

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 - Export issue.

    Hello to the Adobe Community!
Maybe someone here can help me out with some Premiere issues.
    I am using Premiere Pro CS4 4.2.1.
    I'm on Windows 7 64 (Ultimate N).
    My system is:
    Intel Core i5CPU [email protected]
    3GB RAM
I have updated all Adobe software, and my drivers.
I've had a good look over the forums and I found this article. It's very useful, and hoping it would be my saviour, I went through all the advice given.
    Still no luck!
I'm trying to export the media from Premiere to Media Encoder.
    My sequence settings are:
    1280 x 720
    Square pixel aspect ratio
    25fps
    48000HZ - Stereo
    My render settings are:
    MPEG2 - DVD
    PAL HIGH QUALITY
Everything else is left to the default setting.
When I try to encode via the Media Encoder, it gets to about 1/3rd of the way through and I get a message:
    'Encoding Failed
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
I have also tried, as per previous posts, to use the Adobe Dynamic Link, both from Premiere out to Encore, and importing in from Premiere when I'm in Encore.
Still no luck! I get an 'encode failed' message when I try to transcode it. I'm pulling out my hair with this one.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
NB: This is my first post on this forum, so apologies if I have missed anything out.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
    Em.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions - Evan I think you might be right on the memory issue.
I tried one last thing - running Premiere in compatibility mode as an administrator.
Again, it failed after about 7 minutes. It's quite a complicated project, but it's only 14 minutes long.
The strange thing is that although it doesn't seem to render on my work pc, it renders on my home pc, which has similar specs:
    CPU: Intel Core i5 760 2.8GHZ 8MB
    MEMORY: 4GB (2x2GB) PC12800 DDR3/1600mhz Dual Channel Memory
MOTHERBOARD: Asus P7P55-M Intel P55 Chipset
    NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 1GB
I forgot to say that my work pc, listed above uses an NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT card.
Do you think that 1GB can really make all the difference?
Sorry if that's a stupid question, I don't have a massive amount of technical knowledge.
    Cheers!
    Em.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Big Problem

When I open Adobe Premiere PRO CS4 (with all updates) I can't click on "New Project", "Open Project", "Help"... When I click any of them it just blinks, if I clicked it anywhere else. I'm also on Windows XP SP3 / 32bit version. Please help me guys!

I have to agree with Harm.  I didn't read it that way, Jeff.  It reads as if the OP ran the script and did the reinstall before Bill suggested it, and that still didn't work.
The way I read the OP's final post is that something else worked, but we don't know what.  Now maybe that's wrong, but that's how it reads to me.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Export fails with Media Encoder CS4 "Encoding Failed"," Could Not Read From Source.

There has never been a history of Adobe CS3 installation on the brand new MAC Pro I am using prior to installing Master Collection CS4, despite other posts claiming that chief cause of this issue is a previous CS3, Beta or trial installations of previous versions. I simply had a straightforward installation of CS4 and have had trouble since day 1.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Master CS4 three times, two times with the action script cleaner for CS4. I tried changing Adobe Cache folder locations to alternative drives. I ran shift start many times to correct any inconsistencies and corrected for permissions using disk utilities repeatedly. All updates have been installed and I am still getting the same error when exporting my timeline to Media Encoder CS4, be it a large High Definition project or a small one consisting of few stills.
No matter what presets I chose, the job appears as one of the items in the render qeuee of Media Encoder CS4 and sits there with the status WAITING until i hit Start Queue. When I do, it still says WAITING under Status and at the bottom corner of the window it reads : Loading "project name.prproj" and after an average of about 6 minutes, a yellow caution sign appears. No render whatsoever takes place. When I click on the yellow caution sign, it reads a log of all errors in connection with each job, including the ones that have gone before it. Here is one:

    END OF ERROR Paste
Please any gurus out there know how to troubleshoot this damn thing on Mac, I really appreciate it. I have not yet encountered any posts of Mac owners with no previous CS3 installation having this issue. I am in the middle of 3 projects with tight deadlines and need your urgent help. THANK YOU!

    Hello There,
I resolved the issue through a simple process of elimination. So simple in fact I wonder how I missed it. Since there has been no history of prior CS3 installation on this machine and every conceivable trick was applied to resolve the problem (refer to my original post earlier in the thread) ending in frustration, the problem had to reside in a factor or series of factors that were only present in this machine. Of the two remaining causes different in compare to other machines, I had to look into the possibility of any hardware and/or software conflicts. After all, this very same installation works perfectly fine on my colleague's Apple Macbook Pro and several Windows machines.
It turns out that I had installed Pro Tools on this machine that comes with all kinds of optional plug-ins in the so called ignition pack. One of these optional plug-ins is called IZOTOPE (three varieties include Spectron, Trash and another one that escapes my mind). They were all lite version licenses that would automatically pop up on their own when you would start a program where they had been residing. One such program where an association existed was indeed the Premiere. An annoying dialogue box directing you to buy the full version when you would start the premiere would refuse to go away. Sometimes it would even start on its own culminating in a a permanent dialogue box.
The cause of the problem was right before my eyes and I had overlooked it. Once uninstalled using IZOTOPE clean uninstaller on step 4, the problem was resolved. Projects are now loading very fast into the AME and encoding begins in earnest. I have never had any issues ever since.
Long story short, if you have any plug-ins specially the ones that are loading upon the start of any program or the ones that reside inside the premiere or the ones that start on their own independently, they could be one of the highly probable causes of this error. I have seen other similar posts complaining of plug in folders inside premiere that needed to be moved to resolve the issue for instance the ones that needed to be moved to AE folders. If you are a plug-in admirer, I would suggest to look into them seriously.
On the side note, many combination and causes may lead to the same error. I am not claiming that this is the solution for everyone.
It must also be noted that I applied the trick of creating a shortcut of Premiere (and naming it exactly as such) and dropped it into the Adobe Dynamic LInk folder (even though this was suggested for windows)and have changed the adobe Cache locations to an alternative folder on a separate drive. I haven't been able to establish conclusively if the latter steps are also essential in fixing the error on MAC but I can confirm that since the latter steps were taken before the uninstalling of Izotope plug-ins and i still had issues, probably uninstalling those plug ins or finding a way to move them to a place where they don't interfere (if you absolutely need to keep them) is the one essential step that solved the problem.
    Hope this helps.

  • Premiere Pro CS4: Exporting to High Quality SWF with Low File Size

Adobe Program: Premeire Pro CS4 (to build slide show video)
Adobe Program: Adobe Media Encoder (to export project into flash file)
Project Details: A 20 minute slide show with still images and audio.
Project Source: HDV 720p, 29.97 fps
Objective: Export slide show into a flash file so it can be watched online. The file must be small enough for most people to be able to stream the video but good quality (like videos found at Hulu.com).
Problem: I'm struggling to find an export setting that will let me maintain both good quality and a small file size.
The export setting that allows the best quality is:
    Format: FLV / F4V
    Preset: F4V - HD 720p
    File Size: 800MB
Troubleshooting History: I have tried the following Presets:
    F4V - Same as Source
    F4V - 1080p Source, Half Size
    F4V - 720p Source, Half Size
    F4V - 720p Source, Half Size, VBR 2pass
F4V - Web Large, Widescreen Source
While the file size is much reduced with these Presets, I lose too much video quality.
Inquiry: Does anyone have advice for meeting my listed objective?

I understand that if you want a smaller file you must sacrifice quality and if you want better quality you must expect a larger file size. I am looking for a solution in between the two extremes (again, I draw on the example of Hulu.com). Mainly, I am looking to reduce the file mentioned above from 800MB to about half that.
Does anyone know a way to manipulate the export settings to make that possible and still maintain as high a picture quality as possible?

  • Premiere Pro CS4 export doesn't work Dynamic Link Error

I am on Windows XP and have upgraded to Premier Pro CS4.  I have under a 2 minute video that will not export (combo of photos and avi files we shot and a couple purchased avi in the NTSC format).  AME sits on a "Waiting" status with no sign of movement.  After an hour I turned it off.  Tried to open AME and add the sequence, when I get the Adobe Dynamic Link Error - at least I get an error.  What is this?  I have no extra items on the timeline and have deleted the other sequences out to see it that mattered - no.  I have done the updater and have the latest updates - still nothing.  What am I missing?  What should I be looking for?  Help Please.

Antivirus isn't an issue and I have a lot of space.

  • Premiere Pro CS4: Exporting

First of all, thank you to everyone who has helped me so far. I am not really "into" video editing and therefore do not know very much about it. I am however trying to make a film to document my wifes pregnancy (our first born). I have really learned a lot form these forums and I just wanted to say thank you.
I read the faq on the best export settings and also saw the help video. They all pretty much say the same thing: there is no best export setting, it just depends on what youre trying to do.
So I have footage taken from my Canon Powershot sd960. It shoots at 720p 30fps. I chose these in my settings when i started the project. I have created the first "short film" which runs at about 12 minutes. I have watched it and it looks great!
The problem? This 12 minute movie takes up almost 2 GB of space after export. I have full length DVD movies that take up much less. I was wondering if there was a way to export 16:9 30fps (i tried 24 fps and the movie is very choppy) and not have it take up so much space. The final movie could be as long as 75-90 minutes and I cant have a 75GB file you know?
The current setting i used was MPEG-2 HDTV 720p 29.97 high quality.
I really dont need the final product to be HD, just 16:9 widescreen and 30 fps (if this is possible). I am just trying to get this type of file to a managable size. Again, since i dont really do this a whole lot, im not sure if i am asking for the impossible or not. Thanks in advance fo your help.
    Don

If your movie is for dvd just export it to mpeg2-dvd with default settings in Premiere.
90 minutes should fit on a dvd, you might want to tweek the bitrate to make the file size smaller.
Don't export to HD content to dv-avi you will loose quality.
Use Dynamic link to Encore and let Encore do the math for you if you do not get a descent export from Premiere.
    Edit: adressing Cheezweazel not Jim.

  • Premiere pro CS4  import problem

when I try to import video files from a Creative Vado HD, the video is frozen in the source monitor and in the timeline. Only the audio plays fine.
    Imported files are 720p, h-264 avi. 30fps.
    Does anyone know what's happening?

I finally found the best way to import Vado HD files into Premie
re CS4, thanks to the excellent video tutorial (how to work with pocket camcorders) hidden in Premiere
    Resource manager.
    Connect Vado HD thru USB
Open a sequence in Premiere with settings on XDCAMex 720p 30p (this format is recommended, but I found others that work as well)
Click on Media Browser in Premiere and import your clips
If necessary, render the clips that are on the timeline and then you can edit easily
If you want it, you can also transform the mono audio track into stereo
    Works great !

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 Exporting Trouble

Hey guys, I have been having trouble whenever I export my video. I have a video all set up, ready to export (all rendered) and
it doesn't matter what format, file type, size, quality, or anything, it just keeps doing this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fb2qt3XHFhI
It seems like some of the clips aren't loading correctly, or something.
Help would be appreciated. I just need this done, and I have no clue why it is doing this.
    Thanks!

This looks like it could be the problem. The thing is though, I exported it once, and I had no trouble at all. It just seems odd to me. But the time remapping is just like,
Time Remapping- Speed 100.00%- Velocity 100.00 / second
So should I just create a new sequence, with the settings such as "AVCHD - 720p - AVCHD 720p60" ? or should I have the frame rate the same as the clips?
If you have google talk, we can use that, it would be a lot simpler than doing this, and would provide faster help. [email protected] is mine.

is it normal when i try to export in H.264 Blu-Ray format, there's 3 files created when finished?

im REALLY surprise it can't export in AVI.

    Welcome to the forum.
In your Export setting, go to Multiplex Settings, and chose anything except "None." Then, you will get a multiplexed file, with both the Audio & Video Streams in one file. See this article for more detail: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3557964#3557964
    Good luck,
