Premiere Pro CS4 How to: Effects.

Hey, I was just wondering if anyone could help me out with some effects I am trying to acomplish with Premiere Pro CS4.
The first effect I would like to do is a fog effect (eg. attachment 1)
Secondly, I would like to do is a sparkle effect/glittery text, just like attachment number 2 (sparkles on text). I know how to do the rotations and all but the sparkles/glittery title (text) I'm unsure of.
Lastly, I would like to do a light flash effect just like on attachment 3 (the big light flashes on the text)
I apologise if I couldn't describe better, this is why I have attached images to show, they have been screen capped from a video (by the way, the images I have attached, I have reduced the quality so the file isn't too big. All the 3 images don't even add up to a mb.
Are these effects difficult to do? Does Premiere Pro CS4 even support these effects or would I need some program such as After Effects?
Thank you.

Along with Red Giant (Harm's rec.), ProDAD's VitaScene has most of those, if not all. I'd also check out Digital Juice, as they often have "specials" on some ProDAD plug-ins.
For a "homemade" fog, you can add a Color Matte in a grey color, add Noise, and Gaussian Blur. Alter the Opacity to suit, and maybe even animate this Effect>Motion>Position. For an animated fog, I'd create a still image in PS, to have some room to animate, making it larger than the Frame Size.
[Edit] In PS, I'd also look at the Filter>Difference Clouds too.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Adobe Dynamic Link will not work - Premiere Pro CS4 to After Effects CS4

    Hello,
I am edited a video with a deadline, I'm importing a sequence from Premiere Pro CS4 to After Effects and making edits in After Effects. I'm able to import the Premiere Pro sequence into After Effects using Dynamic Link, but  I go back to Premiere Pro and nothing has changed. Then I have to export the 21 minute long video in After Effects and that takes about 12 hours, that I can't afford. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, before I imported the timeline into AE, while I was in Premiere Pro I right clicked it and selected -Edit original. It took me to the .mov that I imported- since it's a redo. I learned how to use Dynamic Link from this tutorial-
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-cs4-production-premium/using-dynamic-link/
At first when Dynamic link didn't work I thought it was because I was cutting the imported Sequence from Premiere Pro in After Effects becasue I was motion tracking. When you import a Premier Pro sequence can you cut it into individual layers in After Effects?

I'm importing a sequence from Premiere Pro CS4 to After Effects
That doesn't create the type of Link you want here.  In this case, changes made to PP would show up in AE.  You want the reverse.  (And you can only go one way, not both.)

  • Slow Playback in Premiere Pro CS4 (how do you lower preview res?)

Hi everyone, I was just wondering how to lower the playback/preview resolution while3 editing in Premiere Pro CS4? I'm editing 720p video (.mov format, that's what my camera shoots in, so I don't think I can change that). All I can see when I right click the source monitor is "Quality > High, Draft, Automatic". Is there anything else I can select? (kind of like in after effects, where you can set it to 1/2, 1/4, etc.). I've been searching the internet for the better part of the day and all I've found is that 'quality' menu I mentioned earlier.
It's still painfully slow to watch on 'draft', and it doesn't look like it makes that much of a difference in quality. Now, my laptop isn't exactly the rendering beast I'd like it to be, but it can handle 720p [slowly] in after effects so I think it should work in premiere too.
    Thanks!
PS: Any of you experts think this would be a good computer for NLE / rendering effects?
    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7192259&Sku=B69- 1277

    Thanks for clearing that up!
New desktop it is... I'll probably be swapping out the low power drive for a faster one, since Harm mentioned that in his 'building for NLE' thread.
Oh yeah, one more thing: How can I force it to render? For example, I put an HD clip into the timeline, it has a yellow bar along the top of the timeline in it's location, yet when I hit enter it just plays (with annoyingly low fps)?? Going to sequence > render effects in work area doesn't work either.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Dynamics Audio Effect Problem?

Has anyone experienced  problems with the Dynamics Filter in PP?
For some reason the audio clip that the effect is applied to suddenly quits working at a point in the clip where there is a sudden peak.
If this sounds familiar to anyone I can provide more detailed info about hardware/etc. if necessary.

    The solution is very simple,:
    This  update resolves the question.
This update install modification in  dynalic link to support adobe autition3 instead of soundbooth.
This updaye , also  adds support for AAF   import/export, Apple Final Cut Pro XML project import, and OMF export,   along with
numerous other stability and quality improvements. The  update  is recommended for all Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 users.
An important detail is that this feature only works in Windows. Sorry ´bout the poor MAC software.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4088
The home page of all updates for Premiere Pro CS4 is here :
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=98&platform=Windows
Reinstalling all the apllication and if  the aplication is standard  CS4 (4.0)  this acti0on will not resolve the issue.
My recomendation is to install  update 4.0.1 and 4.1.0
Others like 420, 421 is apllicable only if demand  use of large avc intra, red format and p2 with h264 and other improvments

  • I have broken codecs in Premiere Pro CS4, how do I fix?

I've been having audio and video problems for a while, in many of my programs. I finally found what may be the cause - 5 broken codecs in Premiere CS4 2 audio and 3 video (ie aa2daac.ax, etc.) A program called Sherlock2 found them, so who knows, but it sounds pretty logical since Premiere was the only program in CS4 I couldn't get to work.
Anyhow, does anyone know how I could repair those files? Can I copy them from the disk? Thanks for any help I can get!

    RuesterProd wrote:
Just curious, How come it didn't find the same codecs broken in After effects, Soundbooth, or encore?
My guess is that only the ones from PPro are registered (in the windows registry).  You'll see that the codecs exist independently in the AE, encore, soundbooth, etc. directories.
I think this link was provided above.  Check it out again; it provides a program that gives correct results.
    http://premierepro.wikia.com/wiki/Sherlock
Checking to see if your codec is okay is easy: in one of the codec checking programs, look at the file name that it says is missing.  Just go to that location and confirm that it is in fact there.  These programs are not finding "apple" because the filename that is in fact there is apple (without  the quote marks).
This was a new problem in CS3, and, while it is not really a "problem" (the codecs are fine), I do wish Adobe had fixed it.  They are the only ones putting quote marks around their codec names in the windows registry.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Loose transition effect after exporting.

Hey everyone.  Still a little new to Pro, but have searched for an answer to this question with no luck.  I have about a 4 minute project which consists of titles, still images and video and audio.  I have 5 opening titles, each 3 seconds long.  I have set the 'dip to black' transition effect between each of them.  After exporting to media - Windows AVI, the effect is gone on just these clips.  All other transitions work great.  I am doing this on my Vista Ultimate Dual Core 1.8 GHz 32-bit PC with 3GB of RAM.  I am exporing to NTSC DV.
I did try exporting the exact same project on my work laptop.  Windows XP, 1.7GHz with 1GB of RAM and it worked just fine.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you in advance.

The glow is best done with a plugin from trapcode called Shine.  They also have an effect called sparkle which should accomplish the effect in your video example.
Shine is preetty much a standard plugin for AE or Pr.  Its a bit overused though.
    http://www.trapcode.com/products_shine.html
In fact I did a tutorial for Shine a while back.  Maybe it will help.  Though it was done on Pr ver 1; but the plugin works the same.

  • Curly quotes in titles in Premiere Pro CS4 - how to get them?

How can I get the titler text tool to give me proper typographer's curly quotes instead of the inch marks? Is using Alt0147 and Alt0148 the only way?
    Thanks

Use the character map.  You can see what you want to select.
I use it all the time for special characters.

  • Can't Uninstall Premiere Pro CS4 from Trial-Missing Uninstall file

I was using the Premiere Pro CS4 (CS5 XP compatibility pack) as a free trial on my Windows XP computer. Since my trial period is over, I want to uninstall it. Unfortunately, something seems to be wrong. When I click on "Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects CS4, 32-bit support for CS5" in my Add or Remove programs list, it says "An error has occured while trying to remove Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects CS4, 32-bit support for CS5. It may have already been uninstalled. Would you like to remove Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects CS4, 32-bit support for CS5 from the program list?"
I click No, because going into my Programs Folder, I see that nothing has been removed. I tried using the Clean Up script, choosing CS4 and later CS5, but the clean up program's box said no sessions were found.
After, I looked in the Adobe Premiere folder itself for an uninstall program, but found none.
I cannot even start the program anymore. Starting it, a dialogue box pops up saying
Licensing for this product has stopped working.
This product has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched.
If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer, please contact either your IT administrator or Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of the screen.
    Error: 3
As far as I can tell, technical support doesn't come with a free trial, and my trial is expired anyway.
How can I get this program off of my computer now that I cannot use it?

    =========
It may have already been uninstalled. Would you like to remove Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects CS4, 32-bit support for CS5 from the program list?"I click No, because going into my Programs Folder, I see that nothing has been removed
    ===========
This is the part I suggested you click YES...instead of NO... to see if removing the support then allows you to remove the whole program.. kinda a 2 step process...dont know if it will work or not.
You can call adobe support and explain the problem and they might be able to walk you through some process that works okay.. I would try that even though it may take some time to go through it.
I don't see how trying to reinstall could hurt you but I kinda doubt it will work...but why not try it??
Sorry, but I can't think of anything else ... except messing around with the "install / remove " programs stuff as mentioned above...

  • How To Sync Multiple Timelines in Premiere Pro CS4?

In After Effects, if you create one Comp by dragging another one onto the "New Composition" icon, the timelines of those two comps will be synced (IE: If I jog to 00;00;16;06 in Comp01 and I switch over to Comp02, it will automatically jump to 00;00;16;06 as well).
How do I do this in Premiere Pro CS4? By default, it does not seem to sync up when I drag Sequence One into the timeline of Sequence Two. I have cuts done in the first Sequence that are important to elements I'll add in Sequence Two and I need to easily jump to those cuts.
    Thanks!

Mmm, none of these are really emulating what I can get in AE. No matter what I do in Sequence One, it will not jump to the cuts I need in Sequence Two. However, I think the easiest way to do this is...
Create markers at the cut points of Sequence One
Open Sequence One in the Source Clip Window right next to the Monitor Window, which will have Sequence Two open
Jump to the first marker in the Source Clip window, copy the time code of that marker and paste it into the timecode of the Monitor Window
Cut at this point, wash, rinse, repeat...
Having said this...this is a pain in the ***. I really wish Premiere was set up more like AE as this would have been more helpful I feel in Premiere as you'll be doing more editing here than in AE.
Unless...I'm missing something? Just to give this one last shot (and to make sure I'm being as clear as possible). Is there a way to be navigating EXCLUSIVE in Sequence Two, via either keyboard shortcut or some type of button in a monitor window, to jump around to cut points that you made in Sequence One, WITHOUT having to jump back to that sequence?
Here is the scenario I'm looking for: Sequence One has a cut at 00:00:02:00. I jump to that point in Sequence One. I click over to Sequence Two (which has Sequence One nested) and I click or hotkey to the same point in the timeline that 00:00:02:00 that Sequence One is currently setting at.
The reason this is vitally important is that I'm going to remove the space between 00:00:02:00 and 00:00:03:00 and replace just that part with something else. Thus, these cut points are vitally important.
    Any thoughts?

  • How to use Premiere Pro CS4 and AE together to stabilize a shaky video.

    Hello,
I know where to find and apply the stabilization tool in AE CS4, problem is I don't really understand compositions. I have a very very basic understanding of AE in general, more so the workflow and what some of the buttons here and there do.
Maybe this will be easier to answer.
I have my raw footage in Premiere Pro Cs4 right now, before I edit it I want to stabilize it. How to a connect PP and AE?
Will AE change the quality of my video? I need to keep it HD. I'm in a professional setting.
I do I take the stabilized video from AE and put it back into PP for further editing?
And finally, maybe this is redundant, but do I have to export out of AE or can I put the edited work back into PP for the rendering (exporting) process?
I can clarify on anything you need if I'm not making sense.
Thanks in advance for you the help!
    -Mark

The "Working with After Effects and Premiere Pro" page gives an overview of the ways to move data back and forth between Premiere Pro and After Effects, and it also includes links to a few basic video tutorials on the subject.
It sounds like you need to learn the basics of After Effects first. I suggest starting on this page.

  • How can I download the trial version of Adobe Premiere Pro CS4

Can anybody tell me how can I download Adobe premiere Pro CS4 trial version for windows 7 English.

This is a forum. None of the users here -at least not to my knowledge - are Adobe professional
Ninety-nine point nine percent correct. We are blessed with a few Adobe employees here, unlike some fora, but those folk are probably at NAB right now. Also, they are in other departments, so would have to walk "down the hall," or make a call, just as we would.
When it gets to issues on licensing, installation, etc., we're pretty much at a loss. Most of us have never encountered such issues, and only know what we have read in others' threads, when they have bothered to report back. Even then, that is third-hand info.
Last time that I had an Adobe installation issue was AI 3, IIRC. My upgrade version did not have the old database of S/N's. Mine was 00-000-003, and things had changed drastically. One call to Adobe, and a total time of about 5 mins. (including hold time), and I was given a number to plug in, and then everything installed perfectly. That was in about 1989, so is not quite contemporary. Still, that is the last and only first-person account that I can offer. Most here have zero personal experiences, as they came to the party later, and have just not had any such issues.
We'd love to help, but just do not have the experience.
    Good luck,

  • How do you get Premiere Pro CS4 frames into Photoshop

Hi I am trying to modify a series of Premiere Pro Frames by coloring a small section of them in Photoshop 7. How do I pull those frames out of my timeline, get them into Photoshop, and then back into my timeline? I remember doing it with Premiere 6.5, but I can't figure out how to do it with CS4.

Thanks guys, I'll take it from there.

Yes, PS-Extended will make things a bit easier. While not perfect, it simplifies rotoscoping quite a bit.

  • After Effects & Premiere Pro CS4 users: Turn off "Make text and other items larger or smaller" (Win)

I just made a brief blog post recommending that After Effects CS4 and Premiere Pro CS4 users turn off the "Make text and other items larger or smaller" setting in Windows 7, since it causes some problems.
Please use this thread to let us know whether this solved a problem for you or whether there are any problems with this solution.

There isn't really an option to "turn off" the feature. Do you mean to say that it should be set to "Smaller - 100% (default)"?
