Premiere pro CS4  import problem

when I try to import video files from a Creative Vado HD, the video is frozen in the source monitor and in the timeline. Only the audio plays fine.
Imported files are 720p, h-264 avi. 30fps.
Does anyone know what's happening?

I finally found the best way to import Vado HD files into Premie
re CS4, thanks to the excellent video tutorial (how to work with pocket camcorders) hidden in Premiere
Resource manager.
Connect Vado HD thru USB
Open a sequence in Premiere with settings on XDCAMex 720p 30p (this format is recommended, but I found others that work as well)
Click on Media Browser in Premiere and import your clips
If necessary, render the clips that are on the timeline and then you can edit easily
If you want it, you can also transform the mono audio track into stereo
Works great !

Why Does Premiere Pro CS4 Import Only 10 Seconds Of Layered Photoshop CS4 .psd??
I have a 24 second clip I layered in Ps and when I import the psd into Pr THE SEQUENCE IS ALWAYS ONLY 10 SECONDS!
How can I change this?  Why does this happen?  I really need to know as soon as possible.  I have a video project due this Wednesday (granted it's for an AV class where I'm just learning Pr.  But I can learn VERY FAST!)
    Thanks for your help.

Just in case I wasn't clear in my last line "just Click-drag on the Tail of your .PSD to set the desired Duration," once you have Imported your .PSD (as Footage), just drag it to the Timeline, Click-drag on the right-hand margin (the Tail) and stretch out its Duration, as is required.
Now, if you Imported as a Sequence, open that Sequence's Timeline, and do the same.
I normally will set my Edit>Preferences>Still Duration to about what I think will be applicable, do my Import, and then with the Info Panel handy, just alter the Duration to suit.
    Good luck,

  • Can Premiere Pro CS4 import H.264 quicktimes?

Can Premiere Pro CS4 import H.264 quicktimes?

If the QT's are pure H.264, and you have that installed, then there should not be an issue.
Some camera mfgrs., and others, like to tweak H.264, so there is no all encompassing answer.
If you are having issues with a QT file, that seems to be H.264, you might want to look closely at the full specs. in MediaInfo, just to be sure that all settings match what they should.
Where did these files come from? That might tell the tale.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Big Problem

When I open Adobe Premiere PRO CS4 (with all updates) I can't click on "New Project", "Open Project", "Help"... When I click any of them it just blinks, if I clicked it anywhere else. I'm also on Windows XP SP3 / 32bit version. Please help me guys!

I have to agree with Harm.  I didn't read it that way, Jeff.  It reads as if the OP ran the script and did the reinstall before Bill suggested it, and that still didn't work.
The way I read the OP's final post is that something else worked, but we don't know what.  Now maybe that's wrong, but that's how it reads to me.

Mini-DV AVI footage that looks good in Premiere 6, Premiere Pro, and Windows Media Player, looks bad in Premiere Pro CS4, diagonals are jaggy. Any  suggestions on correcting this issue?

  • Premiere Pro CC Importing Problem

    Hello,
I'm using Premiere Pro CC. When I start a new project in Premiere, it doesn't give me any sizing options. I simply select HDV (I've also tried using DV and I still have the issue I will comment in a second) and leave the other options in default.
Once I have my project open. I have a .mpg file that is 704x576 in size that I want to import. When I import it, the video size changes to a 540x576, cropping away the right hand side of the video.
Is there a way to stop this from happening?
    Thank you.
    Enrique

Hi, I am replying here, and not on another thread no this topic for it is marked as resolved.
This issue happened to me as well. However I can not reproduce it accept on material that is effected by this. It is true that problem appears during the import, not afterwords. I have tried to import it trough media browser and directly from explorer - it makes no difference.
So, I ripped DVD, as I usually do, and imported it with cropped right side. Media info shows its 720x480, however when it get's to Premiere it is converted to 540x480 and there is no way to get that right side pixels back.
I ran some test, and found out that rest of the rips weather they are PAL or NTSC can import just fine, and Mediainfo shows that files are identical - there are some difference in bitrate but it shouldnt cause problem imo. I have tried importing it to other PC with premiere and the results are the same.
For getting different results with same tipe of files I can't understand what is causing this, however there is way around it. If you ran in trought converter like MainConcept Reference, file can import normaly. It's not permanent solution, but if you're in a hurry that could be a way.
I have noticed some time ago issues with aspect ration with Blackmagic Desktop Video drivers installed. Is there a chance you have them instaled ?

  • Premiere Pro CC import problem only with last .VOB file

When I import .VOB files from any DVD into Premiere Pro CC, the last .VOB always cut picture from both sides. When I click to see properties of the file (in Bin panel) it shows me that image size is 540 x 576 instead of 720 x 576. The video isn't shrunken but cut off. I got two black bars on both sides of the screen (in Premiere Pro CC). That wasn't happened with CS6 and now it happens always and only with last .VOB file. All other files from same VIDEO_TS folder are imported correctly. When I convert that last .VOB to .avi or any other format everything is OK. Any suggestions?

Yes it works, but I have no time to convert file every time I need something archived that way. I used that method years ago, and if I'm not wrong we are progressing a little Most of today options you have in Premiere 5 (maybe even in earlier versions; I'm using it from version 5.1) and it worked. So if you think like that, why we need version 7.2.1 ? Actually this is 14.2.1 version if you count from version 1 back in 1991.
It's not about to manage, it's about to have what you pay for, it's about to speed up the process.
Thank you anyway for your comment

  • Premiere Pro CS4 Sequence Problems

Hi, I have 2 questions about pp cs4 sequence,
    1. After creating a sequence, say Sequence 01, I wanted to change the sequence name. I right clicked and chose "rename", but nothing happened.
    2. After importing the clips, I highlighted all clips and clicked the "automate to sequence". All clips were copied to the timeline, but no default transitions were added. I did check the "apply default video/audio transitions".
Please advise and thanks in advance.
    jusko

Ah, yes. If the column width is greater than the panel width it prevents certain actions.
The icon appears when there is something that needs your attention.
Try changing your default transition. Perhaps PPro thinks you don't have a default selected.
    Cheers

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 Exporting Problem

I recorded a video in 720p, 1280HQ at 30fps, PAL. I then imported these clips onto my pc as MP4 files.
I converted these MP4 files to AVI files using a MPEG4 codec.
The sequence I used of Editing Mode P2 720p 60Hz DVCPROHD.
I need to export my finished project as a Quicktime file using a H.264 codec (16.9) 640x360.
Everytime I try this Adobe Media Encorder encodes the audio only, no video.
    Can anyone help?

I can't avoid Quicktime if I can help it at all.
I'm not sure about the PAL thing. My camera has two options for "Video Out!, PAL and NTSC. I'm fairly sure the videos weren't recorded as PAL because they were 30fps.

  • Vob Import Question in Premiere Pro CS4 4.1

    Hello,
Prior to posting, I read numerous posts related to importing vob files in Premiere.  None of them seemed to address the particular problem I am experiencing, and I was hoping to find an answer here in the forums.  Here's what I am attempting to accomplish:
    1)  Export the vob files (there are 4 of them) from a commercial movie DVD to hard disk
    2)  Import the vob files into a Premiere Pro CS4 4.1 project
    3)  Build a sequence out of the 4 vob files
    4)  Replace the sound in two very short segments to eliminate profane language so that my children may watch the movie
    5)  Import the sequence into Encore CS4 and burn a standard DVD
I was successful in all of the above steps 1-5.  So what's the problem?  I noticed, when viewing the output DVD, that at a certain point (only a single point) in the movie, the sound was garbled and the frames got 'wonky' (a technical term I picked up from Deke McClelland).  My first assumption, was that I had messed something up somewhere in my editing process.  When I navigated to the problematic time in my Premiere project, I saw that there was a problem in that at a certain point, the video would flicker, after which the audio would be out of sync with the video and would remain so until the end of the sequence.  If instead, I simply navigated within the sequence to a few seconds past where the problematic frames seemed to be, all would be well (audio and video in sync).  So, this means to me, that at the point where the problematic frames seem to be, Premiere has trouble interpreting them, and from that point on, the sequence is affected.  If the seemingly problematic frames are skipped, then Premiere does not enter its bad state.
The next troubleshooting step was to start afresh, and see if the problem existed prior to making any edits to the sequence (i.e. steps 1-3 above).  The problem still existed.
The next troubleshooting step was to see if a media player exhibited the same behavior as Premiere.  So I took the same vobs and viewed them with Windows Media Player 11.  There was no problem viewing the exact same vob in Media Player 11 that essentially is not viewable in Premiere Pro CS4 4.1.  Hmm.
The next troubleshooting step was to see if an encoding program would exhibit the same behavior as Premiere.  I imported the same vobs into TmpEnc, and when viewing them, no problems were exhibited.
Although not conclusive, it appears that there is a bug in Premiere Pro CS4 4.1.
Another problem that I noticed with vobs, is that sometimes, Premiere Pro CS4 4.1 does not recognize the proper frame rate of a standard DVD vob file, e.g. given 5 vobs that comprise a single movie, the first vob is shown as simply a video file (i.e. no audio at all) @ 29.97 fps in the Project panel, but the subsequent 4 vobs are recognized correctly as having both audio and video @ 23.976 fps.  As before, I validated that the apparently problematic vob (from the Premiere Pro CS4 4.1 point of view) renders/plays perfectly fine in other applications (i.e. no audio or video problems).  I attempted to use 'Interpret Footage' to rectify the problem with the vob, and when I type in 23.976 fps, it takes it, but then displays in the Project panel as 23.98 fps.  It didn't fix the problem, but I was wondering if diplaying 23.976 as 23.98 (as opposed to 23.976 which is shown for the non-problematic vobs) is another problem.
Thanks much for any and all help,
    Matt

    Welcome to the forum.
Now, you have several problems, but most are with your choice of equipment and your workflow, not your choice of an NLE.
I took a wedding video from 1990 on a VCR tape and turned it to digital via a Dazzle hardware unit that plugs into the computer. It gives me vob files with no menus or anything like that
Few people have ever been able to get a Dazzle to work. This is true, even with the Pinnacle software, that often comes with it. It is an AVID product now, as they bought Pinnacle, and if you can get it to work at all, you are ahead of 99% of all owners. Stop by the Pinnacle fora and type in Dazzle. You will get the idea quickly.
A far better workflow would be to use a VHS player, hooked to an A-D device, like the Canopus/Grass Valley 110, or their 300. Use the Edius software that comes with it, to Capture DV-AVI Type II files w/ 48KHz 16-bit Audio. There will be zero OOS issues.
Most other equipment and workflows are kludges and seldom work at any level.
A good workman does not blame his tools. He might blame his choice of tools, but not the tools. Unfortunately, you chose a piece of hardware that doesn't usually work with the included software, and are blaming a great NLE program, because you are trying to work with horribly bad footage.
Please do yourself a favor. Donate the Dazzle to Goodwill, and look at the Canopus/Grass Valley 110. The price differential is not that great, and you will keep all of your hair.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
PS just did 34 VHS tapes via the above suggestions (some LP and some EP), and got many hours of usable footage. Not one glitch. No OOS. Every file edited perfectly in PrPro and I delivered 15 DVD-5's, that the client loved. I paid for a Canopus 300 with just my time on one project.
PPS, please see my post #5 for a link to an article on VOB files.
