Premiere Pro CS4 Setup won't open

Ok, so I searched and couldn't find anyone with a similar problem: I just downloaded the trial version for Premiere Pro CS4 on Adobe website, but the setup file won't open. I'm on Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, more than 10GB of available disk space; meeting all the system requirements. I can open and browse the .DMG, but when I open the Setup, its icon briefly appears on the Dock, then disappears.
Does anyone know what I should to do fix this?? Many thanks in advance!!

I formatted my HDD, did a clean instalation of Snow Leopard, opened the setup... and it worked just fine!!
That is great news, and thanks for reporting.
Now, there have been some stated issues with Encore and Snow Leopard. If you plan on using Encore for authoring, you might want to pop into the Encore forum and look around. Do not recall the issues, or any resolutions, but there were some issues.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Premiere Pro 4 File Won't Open

    Hi all
I have an adobe premiere pro file that won't open. When I double click on it, the load project bar gets to about four fiths of the way, then it just stops. The last time I saved the file, I saved it to my computer, then I saved it to a portable hard drive to back it up (around four minutes later). Both versions of the file won't open. The previous file will open, but I have done 30 hours more work since then (on the new file). I thought it was enough to be saving every few minutes, saving back ups to a portable hard drive... I also have a raid 1 configuration! I was never expecting this. When I leave the Premiere Pro on the Load Project screen, it stays there for hours.
If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

    Hi John
Thanks for getting back to me. I just looked in autosave. The file that won't open was last saved at 11:02pm on the 16th. There was an autosave project at 10.25pm on the 16th, and that wouldn't open either (it crashes at exactly the same place as the other one). However, there was an autosave file at 6:17pm on the 16th that would open. Curious though, it doesn't seem to have a lot of the changes I thought I had made by this time. It seems to be earlier than this (although perhaps my memory isn't serving me correctly). Should there be more autosaves that this? I had the program open pretty much that whole time, and nothing between 6:17 and 10:25.
Anyway, that's a start! Something must have happened between 6.17pm and 10.25pm that'd made the file go kaput. I would love to know what, so I can avoid this happening again. First things first though, it'd be fantastic to get the file that isn't opening working.
Thanks for your swift response too, Jim. I opened PP and tried to open the file from the interface. The load project bar stopped at the same place. I can open other projects fine. As to your last suggestion, I created a new project, and went to File/Import then clicked on the file in question. It started importing, then the progress bar froze at exactly the same place. I'm not sure if I did this correctly. Is there another way to import a PP file into an existing PP?
Thanks again for your time. It's just nice to speak to someone about this because I really freaked out when it happened.

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 Won't Open - Mac

At first I had problems with AE not opening (hanging at "Initializing Media Core") and the dynamic link to some of the composiitons in my PP project, so I called support. I spent an hour and a half with a lady controlling my computer, and my AE problem seemed to disappear. We hung up, and then I opened my PP project again, and the dynamic link 'started' to work, but then PP randomly shut down. And now I have a PP problem...
I tried reopening and it loaded the project, glitched a little bit on the screen, then it said "Sorry a serious error has occured that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project." Now I get it EVERY time I open a project.
So I called support again, and after spending 3 hours with a guy, he told me I had to create a new user account and migrate all of my information there, but he said he could offer me no assistance in this area. I must find out for myself. So I followed the instructions here.
"pick a short user name for your new account. then run the following terminal commands
    sudo mkdir /users/newshortname
    sudo ditto ~ /users/newshortname
You'll have to enter your admin password (which you won't see) after the first command. that's normal. This will copy your current home directory to /users/newshortname. Then go to system preferences->accounts and create a new account with the short name newshortname. You'll get a popup saying that a home directory by that name already exists and asking if you want to use it. say yes."
As I figured (after waiting a day for all of my files and preferences to transfer to the new account) I had the same problem. I've tried deactivating, re-installing, removing the media core and then putting it back (with the help of Adobe support), and nothing is working. I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.
Someone, please offer some assistance. I have been out of commision from editing for three days now, and I have a bunch of deadlines coming up.
    HELP ME!

    Hi Vinay,
    1. I am using third party plug ins, and I understand that might be causing an issue, but I've also tried opening a new project with nothing in it at all, and that won't open.
    2. Premiere Pro quits after the project loading bar or after I create a new project.
    3. I used a lot of files! mov, mts, psd, ai, png, jpeg, and AE compositions through dynamic link.
    4. The project has about five sequences. They range from 1 minute to 4 minutes.
    Thanks!

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 won't open "because it is not responding".

When trying to open Premiere Pro CC 2014 it won't open and I get the message "You can't open the application "Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014" because it is not responding.
I've done my updates, uninstalled it, reinstalled it. Even did a clean re-install of the Yosemite OS but nothing. It opens up fine on my laptop.
    I'm on an iMac 27, late 2009.

Really need this to work asap.

A variety of issues can cause PPRO to crash on launch. Here are some of them:
a problem with the Preferences, or some other pref-related file in the Profile-<USERNAME> bin.
    the graphics driver
having an integrated graphics chip as well as a graphics card. Disabling the integrated chip often fixes this.
having Nvidia CUDA drivers installed on a system with an AMD card
    third-party plug-ins
a problem with the cache files.
a problem with the project file (if you're loading a project...)
folders that Premiere writes to being set to read-only
the user not having administrator rights
a conflict/incompatibility with some OS setting
a problem on the licensing/authentication side.
The fact that you've done a fresh installation of 10.10 eliminates some of those possibilities.
After a crash on launch, does a dialog box eventually come up prompting you to submit a crash report to either Adobe or Apple? If so, please click "information" or the like to access the crash log and copy/paste the report here.

  • Direct link from Premiere Pro to Speedgrade won't open and stops at the post processing bar.

I've just installed the new version of Speedgrade and every time I try to open a direct link from Premiere Pro to Speedgrade, it opens and starts to load, but when the post processing bar appears it stops there and doesn't open, I've gone back to the original versions of both programmes and that same thing happens, HLEP!

  • Premiere Pro cs6 projects won't open

I'm working on multiple Mac systems, 2 Mac Pro (3 years old) desktops and one fairly new macbook pro.  Recently, I've run into a very serious problem.  My projects that I've been working on for days, will suddenly not open any more - on any of my machines.  This is happening with different projects on different machines.  Whenever I try to open them, I get the never ending stopwatch icon and nothing happens from there.  Last night, I opened a fairly new project, worked on it for about 2.5 hours, then came in this morning and tried to launch it on the same machine and it wouldn't open.
As I said, this is happening with completely different projects on completely different machines.  I'm losing my mind.  I've tried trashing my prefs by holding shift-option down on launch, this hasn't worked.  Has anyone seen this before?

  • Premiere Pro CC project won't open.

The last back up was 6 days ago. The error message says 'an unknown error occurred while opening the project'. So I looked on here but the best advice was to try to import the project into a new project. I tried this but it didn't work. I then clicked on import a sequence and the bar got about a fifth across before halting indefinitely, so that didn't work either. What went wrong? Can it be fixed?

I am trying to reconstruct using the rendered video but I can't get them in a new sequence in order now!

  • Premiere Pro CS4 won't open. Receiving Error message...

When I try to open Premiere Pro CS4, the program doesn't open but I receive the Error message below instead:
LoadLibraryEx Startup.dll failed with error 999: Error performing inpage operation.
Does anyone know what this means or how I can fix it aside from reinstalling the software?  Thanks.
    Yoey

Thank you for that info. I actually just reinstalled the program only to have another error occur. Apparently that when you install Premier, you must also install a bunch of other perhipheral software including After Effects Third Party Content. There was an error with that but Premiere worked fine, but After Effects wouldn't start. Then I checked for updates and everything seems to be working fine. Not even sure if that Third Party Content is working because my laptop is not powerful enough to run After Effects effectively anyways. But thanks again for your response. I will defenitely keep that in mind if I ever have any more problems.

  • File failure with Adobe Dynamic link when opening a *.prproj file - Premiere Pro CS4

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to open a Premiere Pro CS4 file (*.prproj) but the bar that appears sating 'Opening file' (or similar) gets stopped before finishing to load the file.
I tryed to export some sequences using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 (I wanted to rescue my work), but when I have to select the sequences that I want to export, it says that there is a problem with Adobe Dynamic Link.
Any idea for rescue the file?

  • Premiere Pro CS4 won't render my sequences

Everytime I send a sequence to Media Encoder, it just sits there. And sits and sits, etc. At the bottom it just says "Loading "Gleaner_Shoot.prproj".
I'm using a 2008 Mac with 8 cores with 16 gigs of ram.
My footage came from the Canon HV20. I have clips at both 24p and 1080i.
I'm setting up my sequences to match the clips I'm placing in them.
One thing of note is I'm really only using 3 looong clips. Since CS4 doesn't do scene detection well. I opted to instead make subclips from the long clips and use those. 2 of them are about 30 minutes long and one is nearly an hour. Could this be the problem?
Thing is, this happens even when I do a 1-minute sequence test.
It even happens when I try to use a test sequence which contains only audio.
I've tried outputting to quicktime and MPEG 2. I was careful to set the export settings to match the sources.
After a long wait, Media Encoder gives up and I get a warning icon in the status column.  It says this:

I usually use After Effects so I'm not really up on Premiere that much, but I've used it a good bit in the past and never came across this problem.
    Any ideas?

Thanks.  I hope I've provided enough information below.

Very basic edits in a 6 min training video
Using Export>Media>AVI output (compressed) and stereo.  My sytem hangs in Media Encoder.  I let it sit for 20 minutes before I manually stopped.
