Premiere Pro CS5 Debug Event
Hi there,
I've been a long user of Adobe software and I've just recently had an issue with Adobe Premiere Pro (first Debug event I've ever had with the software),
In which it has encountered an error with "ComponentChain.cpp-498". Now, I'm running on Windows 7 64-bit way above the minimum specifications for the application. Now, this has only recently started up but its actually preventing me from render or editing any of my footage, and so before I jump ahead with tearing up the system and figuring what is what, I was wondering if somebody could please advise how I would be able to go about fixing this problem.
Thanks
I find only one reference to your specific element (in CS4):
http://forums.adobe.com/message/2462753#2462753
I don't think that helps.
The speculation there was it could be a corrupt project. sometimes corrupt projects can be helped by importing into a new project.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 DeBug Event
Hello all, Adobe Premiere keeps crashing and I keep getting the following debut event message:
[/drusilla/pro/3.2.0/Mezzanine/Make/Mac/../../Src/ReplaceClip.cpp-278]
I am working on an iMac. In general, when I try to work in Premiere it is slow going. I usually have to pinwheel wait while a video I import is added, or a monitor box is opened. So I am wondering if it's partly to do with my computer? That seems weird to me though because I am working on an imac with 2 gigs of RAM. Doesn't seem like it would be THIS slow going.
Anyway, if anyone could help me out with why its crashing that would be great.Work through all of the steps (ideas) listed at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/459220?tstart=0
If your problem isn't fixed after you follow all of the steps, report back with ALL OF THE DETAILS asked for in the FINALLY section, the questions at the end of the troubleshooting link... most especially the codec used and your project and output settings -
Premiere pro crash Debug event?
Hello
I've been using Cs5 for almost a year now with no problems, but I go to finish editing my sequence and this(see picture) pops up. Any and all help would be apprciate din resolving this issue, thanks. KHLooks like the message was cut off, it should read -215. The error indicates that it's trying to get the head item out of a track group, but the track group is empty. That's a pretty weird situation. Do you have some clips that you've manually grouped together?

Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 crasing from ripple delete and copy
I've been using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 for several months now and it's been working with next to no problems and I've been very happy with it until today.
As I've neared the end of a recent project, after doing nothing different than usual I went to use ripple delete and every time I try it I now get this error message:

Then:

Then if I try to copy clips or move multiple clips this error message shows up:

I am, however, still able to move single clips, adjust the length of individual clips and able to watch my project.
I've tried two different computers and restarted one and nothing has changed.
Is there an explanation as to why this is happening? Is there anything I can do to get around this or make it stop?Lord Nelson here.
I've reverted back to 5.5.0 as I was experiencing lock-up problems with the BM Intensity Pro.
Unfortunately I haven't found a way of simply uninstalling the update and reverting back to an earlier version. Win 7 Sytem Restore wouldn't, so I had to uninstall Premiere Pro, apply the Adobe Clean Install utility (or whatever!) and then reinstall PP CS5.5. Trouble was that it reinstalled the whole suite, not just PP - so I lost all custom workspaces across the suite.

i've been using Premiere Pro for about a year and a half with no trouble, no crashes that i can remember. I updated to 5.0.4 when it came out and experienced no problems.
I have not made any changes to my system (drivers, programs, etc.) since the last time i worked with Premiere Pro with no trouble. The only difference is that i generated approx. 52GB of new video files (mov. uncompressed 32bit 640x480 resolution) that i was beginning to edit in to a music video.
My current problem is:: there is absolutely no playback of video in 5.0.4. not in the tiny project window preview, not in the source preview, and not in the timeline/canvas window. when i push PLAY, the button turns into a square STOP button, but nothing happens. this is independent of project or file type. The project i was working on when playback stopped is using uncompressed 640x480 32bit Quicktime files and one 44khz/16bit .AIFF file. as a quick doublecheck, I just added a 640x480 Apple Intermediate Codec file and it also will not play back. I opened older projects and none of them will playback.
My problem started while i was working on a project. I was working on the project for probably an hour and a half with no trouble. Then it seemed to get a bit sluggish and i could hear the HD churning a little more. After rendering out a short section (just under 10 seconds), PPro did not play back the just rendered (now greenline) section. Immediate playback of rendered material was the default behavior, and this was the first time ever that the just rendered section did not play back. I then discovered that no video would play back at all--in any of the windows. I can scrub through all the video without any trouble--all the frames are there.
I shut down PPro, & restarted. No change. I restarted my computer. No change.
Realizing that the problem was likely related to a lack of space on my data drive, i deleted approx. 500GB of files off my 2 TB drive, leaving just under a 1/3 of it free. i checked the drive for errors, and defragmented it. Premiere Pro still wouldn't play any file from any project.
The files are fine, they will playback anywhere else (several different file types involved in different projects). The files are compatible with Premiere Pro (uncompressed VGA resolution Quicktime .mov), i was editing on the timeline with them for hours before all video playback stopped. All other Adobe programs (After Effects, Photoshop work fine).
I tried to find an answer/solution on these forums, unsuccessfully. After uninstalling PPro and reinstall (did not help), and entire Suite uninstall, Adobe Clean, and reinstall, neither version 5.0.0 or 5.0.4 will play video --the no playback problem has persisted.
I was running out of HD space --i had less room than i thought -- down to about 7% of free space, a bone-headed move on my part. I'm not surprised that playback performance got compromised due to lack of space. But i'm shocked that the problem is persisting. Fortunately, i had just backed up my entire system the day before. (i've backed up many times before and this never affected PPro performance)
i tried to "CLEAN" the media cache for the sequence but it had no effect (in searching the forums, i saw somebody else have their 'crashing Premiere Pro' problem solved by hitting this button). I just took a look in the user/application support/adobe/common/5.0 to look at the "Media Cache" folder and the "Media Cache Files" folder. Neither of them are empty, even after hitting the CLEAN cache button in the main preferences 'Media' settings window. I don't know if this is the correct behavior or not. (i'd expect a "clean" command to empty the folder, but i'm not the programmer)
This does not appear to be the ATI/5.0 problem that so many Mac users suffered (i was lucky to never have that problem). Again, i've never had any problems with Premiere Pro over the last year and a half, until working on this latest project with the Hard Drive very low on space. I'm 99.9% positive that's at the heart of the issue.
I don't understand why a clean reinstall did not help in this regard. The problem is clearly PPro specific. I found one topic in the forum where someone else experienced this same "no video playback" problem, but there was never follow-up from the user saying whether or not his problem was solved (or what was done to correct the problem).
I'd love to get some help--- seems to be a very rare issue, but right now, i can do no video editing. btw, i started a new project as well and imported a .mov file -- same problem, no video playback.
the weird thing is that i can actually still edit video. i just rearranged my timeline assets and rendered out a minute-long quicktime (Apple Intermediate Codec) .mov and it looks and plays as it should. This is really weird. I'm baffled -- there must be some way to fix this. I don't want to have to go back to Final Cut, certainly not when i've already paid for Create Suite 5 Production Premium and EVERYTHING works except for video playback in PrPro.
thanks in advance for your help

Message was edited by: magneticjakhello. hey, thanks very much for writing back. i got some good info with a search or two. (info about what regedit is and what corresponds to it in OS X -- regedit allows you to edit "preference" keys for individual programs, OSX's equivalent for these keys are the .plists in User & System: Preferences and Application Support)
what i ended up doing was uninstalling Premiere Pro (not the suite, just PPro). Then i deleted a few preference files:
from User /Preferences/Adobe:
com.adobe.AdobePremierePro.plist
com.Adobe.Premiere Pro.5.0.plist
and from System Preferences:
the file: Adobe Premiere Pro Prefs
and..
/.../Premiere Pro/5.0/...
AMEPrefs.xml (i noticed that there's also a preference file in Media Encoder's own folder so i didn't sweat this one)
Debug Database.txt
Placeholder Preset.epr
PostEncodeCmds.pref
PresetCache.xml
Trace Database.txt
NOTE:
of course i don't know if deleting any files beyond the 2 .plist files in User Prefs was necessary, but... it seems to have worked.
I then reinstalled Premiere Pro CS5, and fired up an old project and i've got playback of HD and DV files, and snappy editing and rendering, so hopefully i'm good to go. I'm just going to stick with v5.0.0 because i actually don't remember ever having any trouble with it, and i don't remember v5.0.4 adding anything i was 'missing' or 'needed'
hopefully, this thread will be useful for any future folks that run into trouble - and it's got a solution for both Windows and OS X
happy editing,
peace -
Importing mov files in premiere pro cs5
I just installed Adobe Creative Suite 5 Master Collection on my machine and now, i have two issues.
1. I do have the latest quicktime installed but when i try to import *.mov files with audio, only the audio is imported and works fine. the video isn't, but I dont get a dialogue error box.
A). if the *.mov file has only video, i get a file import failure message saying " the file has no audio or video streams".
2. the next prob is my dymanic linking does not work.
Help pleaseIm trying something and I hope you can help me. I have two computers, one dedicated to capturing a event and the other I have is dedicated to playback. They share the hard drive via a network. What I want to know is- is there a way for the dedicated playback machine to access a video file that is still being captured by the capturing machine and play back parts of it in a sequence??

Zone Alarm, eh? I used to use that program, but it got in the way of almost everything that I did, that I canned it completely.
Glad that removing ZA solved your issue.
Personally, I find MOV Animation CODEC to be quite good, and use that for a lot of work. Jeff Bellune, here, like the Photo JPEG format, but I have not explored that.
Good luck,

Premiere Pro CS5 Crashing "Adobe Premiere has stopped working"
Premiere CS5 has started on my Windows 7 64 system, after working for only about 10-15 minutes. After doing a reinstall, reading through forums, and updating drivers, nothing's working. It really doesn't seem like anyone else has had this problem. Based on the suggestions of someone with a similar problem in Photoshop CS5, I ran a registry fix up. The problem persists.
My event viewer showed the follwoing error, which I have posted below. This is slowing me down tremendously, so help is appreciated. It might also be worth noting that, thinking this was a Windows error, I contacted their forums. They thought it was an Adobe code error.

15ce75e0-003d-11e0-b0a2-485b3914204fThe way that I would work this would be to do a search on my system for msvcr90.dll. I expect you'll find half a dozen or more. Compare the version numbers of the files that you find in Adobe Media Encoder to the ones you have in Premiere Pro. If all the version numbers match except for one, replace the one that doesn't match. On the other hand... if all the version numbers match, replace the ones in Premiere Pro with the ones in Media Encoder. When you replace files make sure you copy files from one location to another, don't actually remove the files from the source location. That probably goes without saying, but better safe than sorry.
Make sure to post back and let others know whether you have success or failure with this trick.

So upon opening Premiere everything seems ok. There is no lagging or glitching, I can click tabs and everything is fine.
When I import a .mov file or any of my previous premiere pro files I have no issues.
The problem starts when I try to scrub through the timeline. As I scrub through it nothing shows up in the preview area. Sometimes it is blank and other times it only shows the image that the scrubber was set on. The program seems ok as I'm scrubbing, there's no weird lagging and the program doesn't freeze until the box telling me "Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 has stopped working" pops up.
The same thing happens every time. I do not know why.
Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?
My copy of Premiere Pro is legal and bought.
The sooner I can resolve this the better. I have other computers I can use premiere pro on but I would like to be able to work on my own laptop when I'm at home :|.
I've also tried updating the program but that didn't do anything either. It turned out to be a display problem with my computer's settings.
For some reason my computer changed its color mode from 32 bit to 16 bit, which was also making my photoshop gradients show up choppy.
I changed it back and problem solved!!
Thankyou though! -
Premiere Pro CS5.5.1 Crashing on startup.
I've perused the net for quite some time digging for a solution to this. PPro is dying right at the welcome screen. I can't even get into the program to alter anything. I've cleared preferences, uninstalled 3rd party plugins, checked vst installs, the works.
Things I have noticed. Before failing, PPro 5.5.1 only manages to write the basic prefs file, a trace file, and the plugins loaded file. That's all that winds up in the pref directory.
Here's the error info as it appears in the Event Viewer

Primary HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 2 TB 7200 RPM SATA hard disk: 1.34 TB free
Secondary HDD: Seagate Barricuda 1TB 7200 RPM SATA hard disk: 398 GB free
I've scrounged the internet, testing everything I could find to see if it might be a solution, to no avail. I've adjusted compatibility settings, with no luck, ran as administrator, no luck either.
Any help would be appreciated.

Message was edited by: VeriasX1alrighty. Initial test of alt and shift yielded no change, so I did a reinstall.
Now, I can get into PPro -if- I'm holding alt+shift at the start, but if I'm not, it crashes on load.
Once inside PPro, things I've noted are, preview/playback window isn't functioning. If I scrub or preview a video file, the video preview does not playback. I can "force" a single frame to "update" if I stop the playback and physically left-click the window. I can save and make changes to projects, but when I exit PPro, it crashes.
At the time of crash, i'm getting two errors now
The program Adobe Premiere Pro.exe version 5.5.1.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

Have any idea?Hi Dennis,
I just had a go and can reproduce the problem straight away too.
Created a new project then a new XDCAM EX 1080p25 sequence. Imported a short Sony PMW-350 clip. Dragging it straight to the timeline and then setting audio gain is OK (Source channel mapping preferences set to mono).
However, if I Modify - Audio Channels and then set track format as stereo or mono as stereo and then drag the clip to the timeline and right click - gain, Premiere crashes about 1/2 to 1 second after the audio gain dialogue box appears. Error log below if it's useful.

Incidentally, I tried with both the default Windows 7 audio drivers and then the Realtek HD drivers installed (I'd previously forgotten to install the Realtek driver when I built the PC)

Adobe premiere pro cs5 hangs at start up
Hi everyone
I have a question. Upon starting adobe premiere pro cs5 64 it hangs at startup. Can any one suggest a solution.
thanks you!!!I have the same issue. Hangs at the splash at "Loading Importer Quicktime Bundle". Last update today 7/3/2011 (ver. 5.0.4). Why do Encore CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5 have intermittant Sync issues?
I am noticing that Encore CS5 is "buggy" regarding sync issues with material edited by Womble and Corel Video Studio and I am guessing other programs as well?
In high definition I take AVCHD and edit in Corel Video Studio. If I leave the project as one single 42 minute segment and import this asset into Encore CS5, more often than not there are bad sync issues. To get around this I have to divide the 42 minute project into approximately 6 smaller ones- Each smaller asset ends where I had done the editing. Encore does not have any problems now with these 6 smaller assets.
In standard definition I edit in Womble and export as a MPEG2 Program. Sometimes Encore has a problem with the asset sync and sometimes it does not. (I am guessing about 20% of my assets end up with a problem). The same asset if brought into TMP or brought back into Womble does not have any sync issue. If brought into Premiere Pro CS5 it will exhibit the same behavior as Encore- If Encore has a sync problem, so will Premiere Pro. So to get around this I then have to go back to the original womble file and break it up into smaller pieces, at every edit point I cut and export the smaller file just after the end of the transition I applied. With a 6 hour project I may end up with dozens of small files to get around this problem- not very efficient.
Any ideas how to fix this or why Encore is so buggy? Would moving the original assets around in Womble- example taking something that was at the end of the timeline and then moving it to the beginning cause these issues for Encore? Or is there some other cause?
Encore CS5
Premiere Pro CS5
Windows 7 64 BIT
Quad core
2.4 GHZ clock speed
6GB memory
150 GB free space on drive
NVIDIA GEFORCE 8500 cardI've used VideoReDo in the past, which I believe has some similar strategies to Womble. I found when I tested streams, that there were often problems in the source streams, and that the fix was not 100 percent.
You may also find such files that are not 100 percent the same length video to audio.
In any event, the possibility other than Encore being buggy is that the files you are bringing in have problems when Encore tries to validate them. I'm not saying Encore doesn't have its problems, but clean mpeg files do not have sync issues ordinarily.
For some scenarios, I like your workflow (edit mpeg files in a frame accurate mpeg editor that is not retranscoding the whole file), but the results are often not consistent.
You don't say, and I would certainly look at, the nature of the audio stream you are using. I can not tell you what the problems are, but some streams just do not edit well, even though they may play back okay in some players, but still have issues in Encore and/or Premiere. -
I had to re-install Premiere Pro CS5 and now video are files acting funny...
Hello. I had to reformat my system drive and did a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and then I did an anytime upgrade to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I then re-installed Premiere Pro CS5. Here's the problem. When I open any of my projects that I worked on BEFORE I re-installed Premiere (when I was using Windows 7 Home Premium), the video files on the timeline all look corrupted when I play the timeline now. They have these weird block artifacts and also a constant pulsing thing going on. I deleted all the media cache files and all the media cache database files but, nothing changed even though Premiere conformed every single video file in the project again. Then, I went to "Sequence" and hit "Render Entire Work Area" and after Premiere was finished rendering, I noticed the artifacts and pulsing are completely gone BUT, the video files look like a VHS tape that has been recorded over a few times. The edges of people and things in focus aren't nice and sharp like they were before I re-installed Premiere. I DO NOT have the time or patience to have to delete all the video files and import them again into the project and re-edit the entire scene! Can someone please help me resolve this problem?! I am about done with Premiere!
Is there a way to delete the video source files that are on the left side of the timeline (next to the "Source" window, where they got imported into the project) without deleting the edited video files on the timeline and then re-import the same source video files into the project, kind of like "refreshing" the video files? If this is possible, it seems like this would fix the problem without me having to re-edit everything again.
*Update* My idea of just re-importing the source video clip won't work either. I deleted one of the source video clips, which deleted its reference clip on the timeline, and I re-imported the video source clip to see if it would play all weird in Premiere and sure enough, it has the same exact block artifacts and pulsing effect like all the other source clips in the project. It seems that if that's the case, it might be a codec problem. But, that doesn't make sense because if I open the clip on my hard drive with Windows Media Player or Allplayer, the clips plays perfectly fine and looks like it is supposed to. So, it must be a codec problem in Premiere??? Could it be that Premiere Pro CS5 doesn't work well with Windows 7 Professional? I find that hard to believe. Can someone please help me?
By the way, all the video clips in the project are from my Panasonic GH1 or my Panasonic GH2. They are all 1080p/24 AVCHD. I even made a new sequence within the same project making sure the sequence settings are AVCHD 1080p 24 and still nothing is fixed.Have you tried exporting a 10 second section of the footage to see if the issue shows up once the seqeunce is actually exported from the timeline. I edit on CS5 with windows 7 pro at work quite often and have no issues so I assure you that isn't the issue. I also edit with AVCHD footage when at home and work quite freqeuntly as well so I'm positive that isn't the issue. It sounds like a GPU driver has been corrupted in the way it interacts with premiere pro. What type of GPU do you have? If it supports MPE's GPU acceleration have you tried turning it off and seeing if that makes any difference?
Anyways though try to export a 10 second test section of your timeline to see if when the clip is exported from premiere it will play normally in windows media player or vlc or w/e media player you want to use. If it exports fine then you can almost be positive it's a corrupted video card driver. If that's the case I'd re-install your GPU's driver and also check your gpu makers website to see if they have a updated driver avaiable. -
Error Importing Premiere Elements project into Premiere Pro CS5
Hi,
I am working on a multi-part video project that I started in Premiere Elements 8. I put in hours upon hours of editing on the first part and I found that the more I edited, the more often the program would crash (infuriating!). So I started using Premiere Pro CS5 to produce the second part, resolving to come back to the first part later. Well, I've come back around to needing this first part done, and it is just undoable in Elements (crashes every 20 seconds!). I'd like to import that project into CS5 if possible. The help documentation says this should be perfectly possible... but I'm having no luck.
When I attempt to open my Premiere Elements project in Premiere Pro, it tells me the project must be converted from Elements .prel to Pro .prproj, and I click through the prompts as normal. But then as soon as it starts trying to open the project, I get this:
"The Project could not be loaded. It may be damaged or contain outdated elements."
I downloaded the Premiere Elements 9 trial to see if it would be less crashy (and it is), but I'd really prefer to have all my video in one program, and CS5 does the best job (and has most of my hours invested). Elements 9 opens the "damaged" project just fine and I can edit and export normally, so why can't CS5?
Am I stuck recreating the project from the ground up in CS5?In very general terms, a contemporary PrE Project (PREL), will Open in PrPro, with the steps that you outlined.
Now, there are all sorts of considerations, for aspects that will not likely work:
Instant Movie/Themes, as PrPro cannot read those
Some Effects that PrPro does not have, like the NewBlue FX
Some Transitions that PrPro does not have
Some Title animation Presets, that PrPro does not have
Do you have any of the above in your PrE Project? There are probably other circumstances, but those are all that come immediately to my mind.
The simpler the PrE Project, the greater the likelyhood that it will Convert to a PrPro PRPROJ file.
PrE 8 and PrPro CS5 should be close enough to work, again in those general terms. I can Open simple PrE 4.0 Projects in PrPro 2.0, but cannot Open PrE 7, 8 or 9 Projects in PrPro 2.0.
Good luck,
Hunt
