Premiere Pro CS5 not exporting audio

Hi all,
I've already searched Google and these forums extensively but can't seem to solve this problem even with all the solutions I've seen. I've never had any trouble in the past with exporting and/or audio, but the project I'm working on won't export properly.
I'm exporting a ~4 minute video with a mix of camera (Canon 60D) audio, audio from my Rode mic, and an mp3 as background music. The audio plays fine in the timeline, but I can't seem to get the export settings right. I've tried H.264, Vimeo HD, and exporting JUST the audio to no avail. The audio is AAC, which I've tried 48 and 44.1 kHz.
The video exports perfectly in 1920 x 1080 but has absolutely no audio.
Can anyone help me with this? The render time is super long on my old Macbook so I've just been exporting sections at a time.
Thanks! Let me know if I should provide any additional information.
Edit: I've also tried exporting through Media Encoder CS5; same result.

Hi, I'm having pretty much the same problem but after trying several of these solutions i'm still stuck,
I've completed a 30 minute film using 3 different types of digital cameras.
When i try to export it my system crashes and i have to open it again.
the project file is 35GB and i have over 100GB space on my external usb hard drive, so i know there is enough space, i also deleted temp files and unused files too.
I contacted an experienced film maker and took my hard drive to him so he could export it on his system and that also crashed, but he was able to export the entire video of the sequence but unticking the export audio, so i have a 30 minute film with no sound and i've put it down to an audio issue.
I had the same problem when trying to export the film when it was just 20 minutes long, i then cleared the media cache and deleted a lot of unwanted files etc, and then i was able to export the film. now it's 10 minutes longer and the issue seems impossible to solve.
the only solution i can think of is to delete the last 10 minutes of audio (which isn't really an option) or somehow record the audio into a seperate file and import it into the project
I'm not entirely sure of the exact details you would need from me but if there is any please ask
Using windows 7

Dual processor

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Not exportting to tape on TWO different Computers!!! HELP

I had a prior post in january with a new desktop having problems exporting to tape. when it would export a blue screen would come up at random times breaking up the recording. almost like the camera was losing signal with the computer.
Im capturing and exporting using a Canon XHG1 HDV camera.
Both the Laptop (sony vpcf11x) and Desktop (custom with intel sandybridge motherboard) can CAPTURE tapes fine. but export causes problems on BOTH machines.
Both of my computers (a laptop and desktop use the Intel i7 chipset.
I have a Third desktop (gateway something or other) that ive been using Sony Vegas to Export to tape and it WORKS EVERYTIME! with the same Camera and Firewire Cable.
Itried installing Sony Vegas onto the new Desktop to export and I get the SAME problem that I get with Exporting with Premiere.
has anyone else heard of these problems? it is really starting to irritate me. with everything ive done, it has to be something with Adobe. how can i have the same problem on two different computers?

Here are more specific information with my system and settings for you to see. I also included a video of my workflow and showing you what exactly is happening on export.
    Project Settings:
    Capture Format DV
Video Rendering and Playback: Mercury Playback Engine Software only
    Sequence Settings:
    DV NTSC
    29.97 fps
    720x480
    Aspect Ratio 16:9
    30fps Drop-Frame Timecode
    Playback Settings:
Desktop Video Display during playback checked box
    External Device: DV_29.97 720x480i
    Aspect Ration Conversion: Hardware Only
    External Device Audio
Export: external device DV: 29.97 720x480i
Disable video output when in the background is not checked
    Export to tape settings:
    Activate recording device is checked
assemble timecode, delay movie start, and preroll _ frames (none are checked)
abort after _ dropped frames (not checked)
    report dropped frames (not checked)
render audio before video (is checked)
I render out the video to one file (on my desktop).
then import the clip into a new sequence with the above settings.
    file>export>tape>
then it begins recording and drops out like the camera loses signal.
    this is really frusterating.

  • Premiere Pro Does Not Support Audio-Only Capture For Some Formats, Such As HDV?

In the PPro CS 5.5 Help file  under, "Recording audio", it says:
"Note: To capture an audio-only file from a digital video source, choose Audio from the Capture menu in the Logging pane of the Capture panel.
"Premiere Pro does not support audio-only capture for some formats, such as HDV."
I'm shooting in HDV and if I want to capture audio only, would I just need to switch my setting to DV?
The only thing is my Canon HV20's HDV audio is MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2, 16 bit, 48 kHz.
My DV setting is PCM audio, which I think is a better quality format, right?
Would there be any noticeable difference?
    Thanks.

Capture your HDV material in the normal way and just drag audio only from the source monitor to the timeline.

  • Closed captioning with Premiere Pro CS5.5, exported to wmv/mp4

My employer suddenly has a push to be ADA compliant, so all videos going forward need to have captioning, and would prefer to have it closed captioned. I've read that you can add captions with Encore and output them to disc, but since all of the videos are posted online, nothing is burned to disc so that doesn't help. I also know you can use scc or mcc files to add closed captions to a broadcast stream, but since these aren't for broadcast, that doesn't help either.
All of this means is that I need to add closed captioning to online video only. What I'd like to know is this: Is there any way to add closed captioning to video that will be streamed online? Or, am I doomed to putting everything into lower thirds?
I'm using Premiere Pro CS5.5 (I also have AE CS5.5).
    Thanks

As a broadcast engineer, I would suspect, and it would make sense that online video files would also be encoded with EIA-608 and EIA-708 set forth by the Electronic Industries Alliance and monitored by the FCC ( Broadcast Standard ). This makes sense to me as all existing video programs which already comply with the EIA-608 and 708 standards would then, automatically play closed captioning when encoded to a video file for playback.
The FCC has recently required all online video to include Closed Captioning as per the Accessibility Act of 2010 ( FCC: MB Docket No. 11-154) Subpart 6 of this document appears to define that all devices which may playback video through the internet, must be able to support the CEA-708, or closed captioning for digital broadcast television. CEA-708 is a form of embedded data often referred to as metadata which is contained within the MPEG-2 stream.
Not to get too technical about MPEG streams, but in essence, even though your end up with a single file, there are traditionally 3 elementary streams of data contained within. Each one has a PID, or Program Identifier number which identifies the Video Stream, Audio 1 stream and Audio 2 Stream. Additional elementary streams can be added such as a data stream containing Closed Captioning- or whatever like Dolby Digital. The PID allows a Demultiplexer to split the streams appropriately for playback.
I would hope there is a program out there that would embed the scc or mcc file ( however they are produced )  possibly after you export the sequence to a file. One of my favoite and best kept secret long-term video websites out there is videohelp DOT com. there is a plethera of kewl software to do all weird things to video, maybe even add CC!
All this still doesn't help us with Premiere Pro though...

  • Premiere Pro CS5 - XDCAM export

    Hello friends,
We are using Premiere Pro CS5 successfully in our video editing. But we have a problem: We export to the format. MXF in HD and SD with no problems. I can copy the clips to the MXF HD PDW-U1 drive smoothly. However,  the export of IMX (30, 40 or 50), and when trying to copy the disc  using the PDW-U1 (formatted disk, free name and multiple format enabled)  the drive does not accept the copy.
Do you have any idea what might be happening? In Premiere Pro CS4 was possible to export and copy to SD for the PDW-U! through op1a.

  • Where can I find Plugins / Transitions for Premiere Pro CS5 (not Cs 5.5 or 6) ?

    Hello,
I am searching and searching for transition packs for Premiere Pro CS5, there are lots for 5.5 or 6 but none for 5. At least I could't find them.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

Chances are most plug-ins working for the later versions will also work for CS5, but you can check with each company if you're not sure.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 not responding after 55 minutes of capture with intensity shuttle

Hi and thank you for the valuable resources on this forum.
I am capturing analogue video into Premiere Pro CS5 using he Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle (with Time Base Corrector in the video path).  My captures are stopping at 54 or 55 minutes when the computer becomes non responsive.  This has happened with the Blackmagic motion jpeg codec as well as the 10 bit YUV capture. Same thing happens if I capture with media express (the blackmagic capture software)
I have tweaked my system as per many of the recommendations in the forum.
Running CS5 5.03, autosave set to 10 minutes (same problem with no autosave or autosave at 20 minutes)
Windows 7 64 bit fully updated
    i7 - 930 cpu
    Gigabyte x58A - UDP5 (Revision 1)
    24 Gb Ram
Nvidia 470 - MSI with the twin Frozr cooling solution.
Restore off, indexing off, windows search off,
Followed tips from forum and Viper regarding optimizing system
    3 Hard drives
System on standard Sata 2 drive
Project capture to OCZ Vertex 3 120 g SSD drive (nice bit of gear) running on Sata 3 controller
Page file on another hard drive
    Norton 360 unistalled
Anything else I could find unistalled or turned off.
Firmware and drivers for on board USB latest from Driver Station as per Blackmagic Recommendations.
Very succesful capture of things shorter than 55 minutes but I have some longer things I would like to capture in one go.
I have used process explorer to watch what happens.  Nothing special that I can identify in terms of processes but cpu seems to be going to 100%.
With progessive tweaks the problems remains the same.
I am not aware of any file size limits with Premire Pro or Blackmagic - are there some?
Considering reinstall but would greatly appreciate any insights.  My first post so I hope I have provided the right info to help you help me.
    Thank you
    Andrew

Good that you got it fixed... bridging device drivers have cause problems clear back to the computer version of the stone ages
I still have a Pinnacle Dv500 card (used via dual-boot with WinXP and Premiere 6x) that went through several device driver versions to get everything working right
While everything is working right... make a full "picture" of your hard drive to external USB drive to make recovering easy in case something goes wrong
Hardware crashes or virus infections happen, so you should buy software to make a full
backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus, making step-by-step
backups during a new install or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step
    if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive
(or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a
restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation
information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-
Activate if you change very much hardware)
The product I use is at http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm
Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to
make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden
registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore
the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a
plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a
hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or
re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

  • Mac OS 10.7 and Premiere Pro CS5 not reading AVI and DV files, not rendering to Media Encoder

    Hi Folks,
I've been wrestling with these problems since I bought my Macbook Pro running Lion (currently v10.7.3). I've had video editing and DVD authoring workflows that have worked perfectly for both CS3 and CS4 with Premiere Pro and Encore. I used to be able to import DV and AVI files and render timelines to Adobe Media Encoder so I can make DVD projects in Encore but it seems there are a lot of broken bits and pieces either with 10.7 or with CS5 or both. I've tired creating new projects or re-editing CS4 Premiere Pro projects that I can still edit with CS4 on my old Macbook Pro with 10.6.8. In fact I've given up on CS5 and I've gone back to my old laptop to edit. My problems with CS5/5.5 are:
1     Can't import DV files - error message saying this is an unsupported format
2     Can't import AVI files - error message saying this is an unsupported format
3     When I export media and try to use Adobe Media Encoder (AME) the render queue doesn't respond to the files being sent from Premiere Pro (PPro). I have to render the files one at a time from within PPro. I have no idea where the queued files go but even if I have AME open it doesn't respond. In CS4 AME would open automatically and wait until I told it to render the files.
4     In Encore I've had trouble burning to DVD. I have to make an ISO file and then burn that using Toast. I'n not particularly fussed about this but while I'm unloading I may as well give you the full picture.
Basically I'm really hating this vcersion of CS5/Mac OS. Lion is like using Vista from what I can tell. On my PCs I went from XP to Windows 7 so I kinda avoided all that pain it it seems the computer gods are smiting good and proper now. I don't care whose fault it is I want Apple and Adobe to fix it or if some kind soul can share their experiences and hopefully how they fixed it I'd be eternally grateful until the next upgrade totally blindsides us all.
Thank you in anticipation --> Mal/Melboure/AU

    Sorry for your troubles.
Pr 5.5.2 is still a bit persnickety for me on 10.6.8, but overall, it's still faster than FCP7 and MC6, and overall pretty dependable.  Imports and plays AVI files just fine.
Lion still isn't ready for prime time, from what I've seen.  Like all Mac OS releases, it probably won't be until 10.7.6 or so.  And that may never happen, becuase 10.8 is purported to be just around the corner.
So, my advice is, if possible, go back to what works, 10.6.8.

  • Premiere Pro CS5 Not Responding (Freezing) When Working With Other Programs

    Hello,
I have a performance issue with Premiere Pro 5.0.3 version. When I have the program open and bounce to another program or Windows Explorer window lets say to drag in an asset such as a music or video file and then when I make the Premiere window active the program does not respond for a good 15 seconds, then after some processing (you see the mouse icon change and hear the hard drive chugging), I am able to again work. This is happening every time I switch windows to work on something else. Even if I just click away to another window and click right back without doing anything else, it does this non responding action. It even says it in the title bar (Not responding). I am wasting so much time waiting for the program to respond.
    My system :
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    Intel Core i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80 GHz
    8.00 GB of RAM
    Quadra 5800 Nvidia graphics card
Drobo Pro 24 TB drive (where my project files, music & video files live) connected via iSCUSI
Sonnet 4 TB raid drive (scratch disc) connect via ESATA
    Dual Monitors
    Please help!
    ~ Doug

    Doug,
Similar had plagued earlier releases of CS5, but I thought that it had been addressed with the CS5.0.3 update. Maybe I am wrong.
There were several other threads here, with similar problems. Maybe they contain some tips that will help. The "constant" seemed to be shifting focus from PrPro, and then back to PrPro.
    Good luck,

  • Premiere Pro CC not sending Audio files to edit on Audition CC

Hey guys so i just Upgraded from CS6 to CC. Before i did PremiereCS6 was sending audio files to AuditionCS6 with no problems. Since yesterday that i upgraded the option is greyed out and i cant do it. Not sure if this is something happening to a lot of people or just me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Well if anyone stumbles here for the same reasons i posted i finally found a fix that doesnt involve re-install from another thread. here is the answer it works like a charm.
I had this problem and fixed it pretty quick without the need to uninstall and reinstall.
Look for the default .sesx files in your Document/Adobe/Audition/6.0/Session Templates folder (on Windows 7)
There should be a list of preset .sesx files. Right-click one and set its default application as Adobe Audition by using the "open with" option.
Once I did this I double-clicked to open the .sesx files with Audition, closed it, opened Premiere Pro CC and VUAAA-LAAA the button is available and fully functional.
    Hope this helps someone!

I am editing a series of MP4 clips shot with a Canon Vixia, and for some reason, Premiere Pro CS6 will not play the audio on a few of the imported files. All of the clips were videotaped with the same camera. I know that there is audio on the clips in question, because it works fine when they are opened in Windows Media Player.
