Premiere Pro CS6/CC bugs

Adobe Premiere has been acting buggy for me across multiple platforms and I think I've found why. The Adobe QT32 Server.exe process keeps open while the rest of the program shuts down when it crashes, and it seems like I have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete and manually end the process before reopening Premiere. This happens on both CS6 and CC, it didn't before a few weeks ago. I don't know if it's an issue with the programming but I have had this issue with Mac and PC versions both at home and in the classroom. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program as well.

Hi.
I wrote something about QT 32 Server problems in another post already, but as this is CC bugs post I add some weird stuff that I experience since the update to CC:
Premiere dows not shut down properly
The playout monitor is not saved in my presets. 2 out of 3 times starting the software I have to reset it to my defaults. Because it appears on my main screen I first have to close evry sequence in order to see the dialog window.
QT 32 Server crashes (as above) = cannot fill up render queues (only one rendering at a time, then delete it, then export the next one)
Switching to other software forces me to hide Premiere manually, otherwise the playout monitor does not hide (3 monitors running)
When a window of premiere overlaps one pixel to the second or third monitor it turns invisible
Exporting to AME needs PRemiere to be hidden in order to see the ME-App behind it. IN former versions it used to pop up in front of premiere
Rendering with AE-Dynamic links:
Rendering a Preview in PPro stucks. When I change to After Effects and then back to Premiere it continues. Sometimes I have to do this several times in a 20 second composition
Rendering in AME and closing Apps like Premiere or AE in backround causes weird rendering faults. Sometimes grafics are not rendered. sometimes it seems like the previous editing version is rendered
... to be continued...
all this give me a hard time. Hope there are some Updates in the pipe.
Best,
Tobias

  • Weird hissing bug in Premiere Pro CS6

I'm having a very strange problem with audio in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6.
Whenever I make a cut in an audio clip, a few seconds of broadband hiss is introduced into it after the cut. The hiss is only there in the exported video. It does not appear after every cut but about 10% of them.
The hiss is equally there when I export into different video/audio formats. It is there when I used different editing codecs. It might only be there for clips I recorded using some not so good microphones on a Canon 5D II, but the hiss only shows up after I make an audio edit and export the video/audio or just the audio. Sometimes though it shows up right away in PP before export. If I clean up the hiss in Audition for a given clip I no longer hear it in PP but again it reappears after export.
It seems like the problem shows up when editing video shot on a Canon 5D MII with the in camera mic or several shotgun mics, but not with a decent lavalier mic. Changing the edit and export codecs doesn't help the problem.
    (i7 960 3.3 GHz, Win 7 sp1 12GB, Nvidia GeForce GTX 470 1280MB, PP 6.02)

I have not encountered the "hissing bug"
But have encountered something similar to what you describe - but with differences.
When Audio is Cut at a point, that is not a Zero-Crossing, depending on the point on the Waveform, that the Cut was made, there can be a "pop," at that spot. Adobe Audition has the ability to set Cut at Zero-Crossing, but I do not think that PrPro has that capability.
Now, all of my encounters with a non-Zero-Crossing Cut has been the formation of a Transient, which does sound just like a pop (not a hiss) sound. I have never heard a hiss, and I do not think that what you are hearing, is what I am, with non-Zero-Crossing Cuts - they just happen to appear AT an Audio Cut.
Still, you might want to look at the Waveform very closely, just to rule out non-Zero-Crossing Cuts, in case that IS causing what you observe, but just producing a different sound, due to the difference in your Audio material.
Also, have you done a side-by-side comparison in Audition between one of the files with the hiss, and the original sourse file? What differences do you see, where the Cut was made, if so?
Wish that I had more to offer than a slightly similar problem, with a different sound.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

Merci d'avance.
    Références :
    Windows 7 64 bits
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS6

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Video Playback Problem/Bug

I have been editing a video for the past few weeks, but recently, after I have been editing for a few minutes, all of a sudden my video won't play in the playback window. When I hit the play button (or the space bar) it does nothing - just sits there. All of the clips are rendered (with the green bar), but I cant see my changes because it doesn't play. I am even able to move the cursor along the timeline and it will show the video in the playback window, but it won't play back in real time. Like I said I have been using Premiere Pro CS6 for a while and havent had this problem until now. Also, when I drag a clip into the preview window, it doesn't play either (but I am able to move the cursor along the timeline). I have to shut down Premiere and open it up again, then it works for a few minutes again, and then the same problem occurs. Please help! The specs for my lap top are as follows: Macbook Pro Retina Display, 2.6 GHZ i7, 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD

Do you ONLY have that single 500gig drive?
If yes, you are below specification... which requires a separate drive for video files
An EXAMPLE concerning trying to use only ONE Hard Drive for Video Editing
You are a music conductor, with a baton that you use to point to various parts of the
orchestra... this is like Windows pointing to various parts of the hard drive to do
Windows housekeeping or to load program segments for various functions
Now, at the same time and with the same hand... while still using the baton to conduct
the orchestra... pick up a bow and play a fiddle... this would be doing something with
your video file at the same time as all the other work
You as a person cannot do both at the same time with the same hand
A computer is a LITTLE better, in that it can switch from one kind of task to another
very quickly... but not quickly enough for EASY video editing
You need AT LEAST two hard drives (separate drives, never a partition
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 for more on partitions) with Windows (or Mac OS)
and software on your boot drive, and video files on a 2nd drive so the boot drive is
not slowed down by trying to do everything
Do not try to use a USB2 external drive for video editing, the USB2 file transfer speed
    is too slow
External eSata or USB3 are both fast enough for video editing... eSata is better -

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - Project frame won't retain its layout or location between opening and closing?

I filed this as a bug, but perhaps I'm thinking through this wrong and would like to seek help.
I'm finding that the Project frame in Premiere Pro CS6 does not retain its layout between opening and closings.
    Here's what I do:
    1) Open a project.
    2) Create several bins and populate them with media. Expand the contents of a bin by clicking the disclosure triangle to the left of the folder.
    3) Undock the Project frame only.
    4) Close the Project frame with Command-W
    5) Use ****-1 to reopen the Project frame.
Repeat steps 4 and 5. The result is that the Project frame does not remember which bin was open. Furstratingly, it also does not retain which bins were expanded or collapsed.
And worst of all, it will also open in random areas of the screen. (The expected result is that it would reopen in the same spot of the desktop where you last closed it, no?)
I'm a big organizer -- tons of footage across many different bins. I open bins, close them, keep some open, close others... easily dozens or hundreds of times during an edit session. I'm beginnging to feel like I'm swatting flies or playing whack-a-mole just to get my bin views correct!
Or mm I approaching this wrong?

But really, the real solution for me was to not update Premiere Pro CS6 after a reinstall. The most recent updates just do not like my computer, I guess.
Figured I should post this solution here in case anyone in the future has this problem. (relevant: xkcd: Wisdom of the Ancients)

  • D7000 files not working in Adobe Premiere pro CS6

I recently took a lot of video on my D7000 DSLR. All of my video I shot though when I import them into Adobe Premiere "breaks" the file plays perfectly on the computer strait from the file but the miniute I try to import them into Premiere the files show either black screens or fragments of other screens in the playback windows as if the files were corrupted. I know that they are not. I need to know what I am doing wrong, if I am, since I am brand new to the program, and how to fix it. I have tried the origional .MOV file which I have reserched says works native with CS6. I also tried converting the file to .mpg. Both ways the files act the same. I have the settings for the project for DSLR at the proper resolution and frame rate also. I can hear the correct audio with the clip but simply the window is corrupted.
I am using 15" Macbook Pro Retina base model.
    Thanks for any help.

If you have the latest update for Premiere it contains updates for HiDPI display, which improves appearance on computers that use Retina Display, such as MacBook Pro computers

  • How does Sony Vegas Pro 12 compare to Premiere Pro CS6?

About 2 months ago, I purchased Premiere Pro CS6 retail box version from Best Buy.  With everything going to the CC, I can't get upgrades unless I join the CC.  This is NOT something I want to do!  I would like to know if the chroma keying and image stabilization in Sony Vegas pro 12 are just as good or similar to Premiere Pro? I already read about how to transfer the product license on the Adobe website.  If I decide to make the switch, I will list my Premiere Pro on Ebay. Another reason why I may want to get Vegas Pro is because I found out about the AVCHD bug in Premiere AFTER I purchased it.  It has been over a year and Adobe has still not fixed the bug. I have a feeling they will never fix the bug because of the new CC vesion.  I am currently about half way through the classroom in a book from Adobe and have not yet edited any of my own videos.  My video camera is a Canon Vixia HF S20 and my computer is a new Dell XPS 8500 with Core i7 and 12 GB of ram. Just a bit frustrated on what to do.  If I can't sell my Premiere Pro for a good enough price, I will keep it and switch to Vegas or some other program after it becomes obsolete.

You can download a fully functional demo of Sony Vegas 12 Pro.  That's what I did.  So far I like it and will be making the switch to Sony Vegas 12 Pro.
They also have Suite version which include HitFilm 2 Ulimate.  This program is like After Effects.  I haven't started playing with that yet.
Also, there is Movie Studio 12 Platinum Visual Effects Suite 2.  That's a mouth full.  Anyhow, it is based on Sony Vegas 12 and it comes with HitFilm 2 Express.  The Express version is a stripped down version of HitFilm 2 Ulimate.  The Express version is still a great program for adding effects.  For some people Movie Studio 12 is all they will need,
Both version, Vegas and Movie Studio, have GPU acceleration which is really nice.
I also just picked up Corel PaintShop Pro X5 Ultimate.  It sells for $69.95 and it can open and save .PSD files.  So I don't have to worry about all of the .PSD files I saved in Photoshop
Right now I have CS5 and CS6.  Premiere CS6 has a lot of bug, the AVCHD spanning clips, slow motion that jitters, caching problem, slower exports, etc.

  • Premiere pro cs6 No audio solution yet?

None of my videos have audio show up in premiere pro cs6 (64bi and windows 7 64bit)   but works perfect in any previous version CS5 etc. Many I noticed have same issue yet adobe has not released any solution builds (as of July 18th)  to cure this!
I have mts files (mp4 is ok and avi etc) and would normally drag the video mts fiiles   from either a folder or the memory card when using premiere pro cs5 or sony vegas and away I go....but  NOPE not with  CS6 it sucks!
I have tried reinstalling prem pro, of which I have latest build,  renamed the mts etc indeed followed and studied  every single so called 'solution' people post on the forum and still the same arggggh!
and no way am I getting involved encoding and all that as it worked fine with CS5 and sony vegas as I said.
Anyone know what's happening with this audio issue and found a simple cure? or could somehow get adobe to release a bug fix patch?
Frankly it just plain crazy to release a new suite and ignore peoples issues - so many other folks  report all over the internet same thing with CS6 yet adobe  as said  done nothing to help people but ignore all forums and  this one - you  cannot email etc to tell them to fix it no email address I can find.

  • Playback Lag in Premiere Pro CS6 for Mac

I'm editing a project in Premiere Pro CS6 for Mac, and the playback is really laggy. Its fine if you're viewing one long clip, but it gets really laggy when it switches between clips. The sound will play, but the playback screen will be frozen on the last frame from the previous clip. I use the latest thin model of the iMac. Can anybody help me?

All Adobe updates start here and select product, read to see if you need to install

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Constantly Crashing

I am having the worst time using Premiere Pro CS6.  The program is constantly crashing, saying it has encountered a serious error and has to close.  This is happening during the most basic operations like scrubbing the timeline or pressing play.  I am using footage strait from my Canon 7D (h.264) with no effects or filters.  I have all the latest updates to the software and my computer.  No other programs are open during these errors.  I'm using a 2011 MacBook Pro i7 8GB RAM with AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB and OSX 10.7.4.
I wanted this to be an alternative to FCP 7, but so far it is not working out.
    Any ideas?

Happening to me too. Constant "serious error" crashes, usually when I'm doing hardly anything at all. One project was working with just a couple images and it was particuarly awful. Like you, H264 footage are a common thread.
    I'm a Mac Pro 3,1 2x2.8GHz Quad-Core, 10.7.3 (will try updating), 8GB RAM, GTX285, 6.0.1 and CUDA 4.2.7. GPU Driver Version says 7.18.11 270.05.20f02.
As it stands I can't get anything done. My experience w/ CS6 so far has been to finish one project (2 tracks of DV, one of H264) that was originally started in CS5, and I don't really remember having any problems. Software worked much better than CS5 actually. Tried another one from scratch, same setup, but I encountered the H264 media pending bug that's been reported elsewhere and had to give up, go back to CS5. Project I mentioned above, I could barely do anything w/o the program crashing. This fourth project, another 2 DV/1 H264, I haven't encountered any problems playing back the footage yet, but this is when the software because very unstable.

  • Using Premiere Pro CS6, currently not able to capture video.

Using Premiere Pro CS6 along with Canopus ADVC100 as my capture device through a firewire port, but in the capture window, it only shows black. I've tried all different settings. I've always been able to capture in the past. I had the AOL Tech Gurus check my computer and all ports and everything is working properly. I've even switched out the firewire cable, as well as used a different ADVC100 and different firewire ports, though it still is not working. I did see video for a few seconds without sound, but it went away. When I do power up the ADVC, it immediately starts up Premiere Pro CS6, so my computer is recognizing the ADVC100. I'm wondering if something within my computer is conflicting with the capture.

Thanks cvid01 for jumping in -
Where would I see the ADVC100 as the Capture Device aside from the drop down window in Device Control where I can choose it to be the Device Control?
It's always worked with the Device Control Device showing "None". And the ADVC100 has always worked in the past with Premiere Pro CS6 for all my Captures.
Also, my Premiere Pro CS6 starts up once I power up the ADVC100. Though I have even closed the Premiere Pro CS6 after it opened up, and restarted the program.
Just wondering if the program itself has some sort of bug now in the capture window? Is there a Premiere Pro CS6 fix that will solve the issue?
Here is what my capture window shows:

  • Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.1) update available

After Effects CS6 and Premiere Pro CS6 bug-fix updates are available, with performance improvements and some new features. Details here: http://adobe.ly/lsrkmJ
Install the updates and let us know how they work for you. They should solve a lot of problems.

Kevin, you may notice that in most of my posts there's a
    Feature Request/Bug Report Form

    and there's a link to http://www.adobe.com/go/wish
The thing is that you will not receive feedback from the Feature Request Form

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - (ver.7) CC upgrade protocol auto update?

Just revamped one of my stations with a new GPU and SSD.  I also purchased an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro.  Loggin in to my usual subscription I realized that Premiere Pro CS6 is no longer available and ver.7 is now ''CC.''  This is great and the revamped machine is working wonderfully.  I couldn't be happier.  My wife will mainly use this machine to edit some hobby stuff.
However, the point for this thread is that my main workstation in the den still has CS6 and I did not receive an e-mail to update it or ''upgrade'' (however it's to be called) to the new CC.  So am I to log in to the new CC interface login and download everything again on my main system and delete the old CS6 install?
    Thanks a bunch!

CVid, you are both right and wrong.
CC actually is a very worthwhile upgrade from CS6 (or it will be when it's finished).  Here is my top list of time-saving new features (and there are many more):
    - NEW:  Automatically Sync separate audio and video clips based on their audio waveforms.  AWESOME! (but doesn't work, yet).
    - NEW:  Merge Clips right from the project panel, including auto sync on audio.  WAY COOL!  (audio sync doesn't work, yet).
    - NEW:  Subclips can be created with "soft" handles you can adjust later (works great!  Except Subclips cannot be created from a Merged Clip)
    - NEW:  Use the scroll wheel—or better, yet, the keyboard—to quickly resize all video (CTRL+/-) and Audio (ALT+/-) tracks on the timeline. (LOVE IT!)
    - NEW:  Both "Clip Gain" and "Clip Volume" now have keyboard shortcuts (not sure why they didn't before.  Small, but important time saver for me!)
    - CHANGED:  "Solo" button replaces "Toggle Track Output" on the timeline.  (but to truly isolate a clip takes 2 ALT CLICKS and 1 MORE CLICK!)
    - IMPROVED:  Link Media dialogs.  Very cool!  (haven't tried it, yet.  Wouldn't surprise me if it crashed Premiere)
    - BUG:  One-take Multi-Cam Editing.  Make your first pass count, cause there's no second chances in the Multi-Cam editor.
    - BUG:  Selecting more than 3 clips on the timeline will crash Priemiere.  See video:  http://youtu.be/DPOUinOSzDE
And these are just the few features / bugs that I've encountered in the first week!
You are correct, though.  You now RENT the software from Adobe.  No purchases.  But, this doesn't bother me, much.  I've been renting CS6 for over a year, now.  MrDigitalBoy, since you have a subscription, you should see BOTH CS6 and CC products in your Creative Cloud updater.
And, I would definitely agree with [r]Evolution, DO NOT INSTALL CC, yet.  It is not even CLOSE to being ready for prime time.  It has cost several editors on these forums, myself included, days of wasted time and lost income grappling with this broken software.  I believe it will be great!  I'm looking forward to it.  But wait 'til the first product updates, at least.  And then procede with caution.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 crashing on daily basis

Hello. The company I work for purchased Premiere Pro CS6 recently due to Apples direction for Final Cut.
We have been editing a full length motion picture and being able to edit in native RED has been great. However we have been experiencing one to two or more complete crashes a day with Premier to the chagrin of our editor. I know full RED support is fairly new, but this is getting more and more frustrating as the days go by.
We are running it on an iMac. OS 10.7.4,  i7 processor, and 8GB of RAM.  The footage is being edited from an external G-RAID hard drive via firewire 800.

I too am experiencing serious crash woes on Premeire CS6 (.0.2). I'm working on a solid Mac Pro with a crazy fast raid setup, and Ive sunk money into extra ram and a Quadro 4000 GFX card, which has helped a few things, but overall I'm so bummed on the constant errors that hold up my day...
1- Projects that worked the day before suddenly "encountering an error forcing Premiere to close" (politically correct way of saying "your app is crashing so save if you can jerky"). I have to save a new version of my project in another location every day at this point, which screws with my backup system.
2- Projects that crash  when I click on a Multicam sequence.
This week Media Encoder crashes every time I try to render something more than a few minutes long in the background while working in Premiere.
Rarely do I have a bug free day on new setup. I'm gonna puke if I have to trash prefs & repair disk permissions again. On that note, get preference manager if you don't have it already. It's a lifesaver for this kind of crap.
This is all Apple's fault. If Final Cut X had never been released, I'd be half way done with this doco edit by now. Premiere is such a nice app in theory, but falls so short in action...
Any advice besides "trash prefs, repair permissions" much appreciated
