Premiere Pro freezes after exporting with Media Encoder

So I'm running the latest version of CC.
Mac Pro, OSX 10.9.2, 8-Core Xeon, 24GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB
I've got a very simple and straight forward timeline. After sending "Exporting Media" via queue to Media Encoder, everything exports fine. But after returning to Premiere, it has become impossibly slow--practically frozen. No crash, no error message, just takes about 60 seconds for any clicks to register. I click save project, and the saving progress bar does not visibly progress, yet it seems to actually successfully save the project, because closing and launching premiere, the file is saved up-to-date just fine.
So for the past few days, I've been saving --> export/queue timeline --> quit premiere --> allow queue to complete --> then relaunch premiere... Of course, this is only a temporary work around.
Now, if I "Export" the media only without queueing in Encoder, it does fine and premiere remains stable and normal.
Ideas?

  • Premiere Pro Unresponsive after queuing to Media Encoder

In the current version of Premiere Pro (8.1.0), every time a send a sequence to the Media Encoder, Premiere becomes unresponsive. But not in a spinning beach ball of death fashion. It's like the UI is non responsive, with some very strange behavior. For example, when I try to quit and save, the save dialogue just sits there until I have to force quit the application.
Any thoughts? This is extremely annoying!

  • Clips exported with Media Encoder from AE are choppy (CS6)

    Hi!
I'm using Media Encoder (6.0.3.1) to export clips from AE (11.0.4.2) so that I can work with them in PPro (6.0.5).
In Media Encoder I go to add AE composition and I've tried the YouTube HD 1080p 25 and the Broadcast HD 1080p 25 presets (the latter creates a much bigger file but I don't think the file size is the issue - for example, the biggest clip of approx. 1 mintute is 276MB).
The curious thing is that most of the clips that are exported are fine, i.e. they play back fine - the problem is that some of the clips go slow or choppy towards the end of the clip. So the last couple of seconds will be choppy. It basically looks like the frame rate isn't quite right.
Once exported from Media Encoder, I import them into PPro to do some more work - the problem with the clips is apparent when I play the original file in VLC (for example) or in PPro. So it seems like the problem occurs during the export from AE. When I export the video containing the AE clips from PPro the problem is obviously still there (wishful thinking on my part). I use AE just for keying and making some basic titles, nothing massively complex.
I had some problems with RAM preview in AE before, in other words, it wasn't playing the clips back in realtime and the exported clips with the problem look exactly like that (i.e. looks like the frame rate isn't right). I deactivated Enable Disk Cache in AE (Multiprocessing was already deactivated) and now I can play back clips ok in AE using RAM preview - even the ones that go choppy towards the end when they are exported with Media Encoder play back fine in AE.
Could Media Encoder be going back to some previous render files saved somewhere on my system and could that cause some of the exported clips to go choppy?
I'm new to Adobe so I'm just guessing here and I don't want to go about and delete stuff that might not have anything to do with this problem. As I've adopted the computer I'm working on from my predecessor and it's had several users since, the system is a bit of a mess and there are files all over the place. Empting the Disk Cache doesn't actually delete anything for example.
I'm really stuck here because I can't finish the projects I started working on with AE.... I would appreciate someone's input!
    Many thanks in advance!
    My system specs:
    Intel Core i7-3930K, 3.20GHz, 16GB RAM, 64-bit operating system, GeForce GTX 680, Windows 7, Creative Suite CS6
Before using Media Encoder to export clips from AE I was just relying on Dynamic Link between AE and PPro by the way and that made all of the clips choppy for the whole duration (this was before I solved the RAM preview problem and I haven't checked if a working RAM preview would make a difference to dynamic link). So Media Encoder nearly solved the problem. I posted this original problem on creativecow (http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/1045810) but no one has gotten back to me about the new issue unfortunately.

    Thanks for your reply!
I tried using Quicktime with PNG and it created a big file (1.18GB for a 1 minute long clip) that doesn't play back nicely in PPro unfortunately. But I then tried rendering the clip using a lossy format, H.264, in AE and it's playing back ok in PPro! I will just do that for the rest of the clips and hope that this is finally resolved. Many thanks for the tip!
Out of curisoty, do you know what might be causing the problem when I use Media Encoder?

  • Problem with interlacing when exporting with Media Encoder CS 5.5

It seems that when exporting a Video with interlacing in Premiere 5.5 with Media Encoder 5.5, the exported video is still interlaced although it is rendered with progressive settings. When rendering with the same settings through Premiere 5.5 without Media Encoder 5.5 (Button "Export") it is correct and progressive.
I tried this with H264 and MPEG2. Anyone experiencing this problem too?
    Thanx!

Were the field interpretted correctly in the first place?  Even if you think they are, try reversing them.  I've just been through hell doing something similar with a mishmash of client material from around the world.
In some instances I switched field order (In the File>Modify) although it didn't seem logical.  In others, I used AE CS5.5 to added the Reduce Interlace Flicker filter.

  • Exporting from Premiere Pro.  Takes forever for Media Encoder to start.

When I exported a timeline out of PrePro to the Media Encoder and press "Start Queue" it took it over 19 minutes before it began rendering.  Is this normal?

    Morning all
    Fair point John.
Webshark2000, the orignal poster of this topic, has got Vista 64bit, so he can make use of the more memory.
I understand that memory use for  CS4 is:
    Premiere -  2gigs
    Encore - 2gigs
    Media Encoder - 1 gig
+ Windows and other apps you may have running!
So if you don't have around 5 - 6 gigs ram, Windows will be doing ALOT of paging! Thus slowing the system and render times down.
64Bit and tons of ram -  is the way forward. It rocks with it!
    Hope that helps - Shaun

  • Does Premiere need to stay open after exporting into media encoder

After using the Export Media option to get my sequence into the Media Encoder, Premiere was closed accidently. This happened after 9 hrs of rendering and according to the encoder estimate I have 20 more hours to go. Is there a reason to restart if it is still running?

No. You can close PR while AME is running, no problem, no interference.

  • Premiere crashes when trying to export with Media Encoder via Dynamic-Link

I work with clips from a networkdrive and I think the problems relates to this fact. My User-Account is an Admin-Account. I don't have any other Accounts. I also set Premiere, Adobe Media Encoder and every dynaimclinkmanager and -mediasever I could find to "run as administrator". Importing Clips in the timeline and work with them works well.
Setting Adobe Media Encoder as "run as admin" solved the issue in the past, that it sometimes didn't render clips out sent from premiere via dynmiclink saying that it couldn't find specific files (which were instances of the actual premiere-project in the tempfolder), thogh these files were actually there.
    Thanks for help!

I can only recommend having all files stored locally on internal drives.  Use network drives only for backup and archiving.

  • Exporting with Media Encoder 7.2.0.43

I use Premiere Pro for a very basic set up. I haven't done any video editing before and have just learnt from videos and having a go. I have one avi and one wav file that I add to the timeline and export to MP4. Using Media Encoder was fine for a couple of days but now when I try to use it I get several different messages and none are consistent or helpful or correct from what I can see.
I have my PP set to show my content status, all of my content is online but when I try to encode it says there the content is offline and it will be encoded with offline content. I thought it might be a bug so I just tried to continue and it encoded with the offline image even though my content is online and never was offline. So I have to open the project in PP, save, close and re add to ME. Then if try to encode it will start but then it stops before getting 1/3 way through and the time elapsed and time remaining just climb and climb and climb. Then if I try to close ME it crashes. I was trying to do one today with nothing but ME running on my laptop I opened Outlook and I got this error:
An error occured during playing the AVI file:
    The data is invalid. (0xd)
I have cleared the media cache and that made no difference.
My apologies if this is covered somewhere in a forum. I have spend many an hour trying to find a solution and I am just getting more frustrated.

    Hi Jim,

  • Premiere pro freezing on startup with Mavericks

Brand new top of the line imac.  Running latest Mavericks.  I downloaded the trial of premiere pro and it freezes my system everytime i try to start it.  What to do what to do?
    Here's my set up:
    27" Late 2013 iMac
    16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB
    OS X 10.9.4
I've installed the latest Java, uninstalled every part of premiere pro I can find anywhere.  Scoured my system for more.  Changed users and reinstalled.  Nothing works.
Just tried again, after getting the spinning ball for a few minutes, it said: "Adobe Premiere Pro Startup Error - Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules.  Please update your video display drivers and start again."
I can't find any way to update the Nvidia driver without going through some complicated process to add CUDA.

Well, I ended up installing Cuda and that didn't fix the problem either.  However, I got the following from a post at Creative Cow and it worked perfectly so I'm posting!!
"I've been having the same issues. I followed Alex's directions and it didn't work. I called Adobe support and got something similar but this did the trick.
In the finder menu click and hold on the GO menu. Hold the option button and the User library will show up. Click the User Library.
In that folder go to preferences and find the adobe folder.
Right click on adobe folder and click get info.
In the Sharing & Permissions section there should be three names.
All should say Read & Write next to them.
Unlock the lock, switch them all to read and write.
Then click on the little gear directly under the names or to to the left of the lock and in the pulldown click on "apply to enclosed items.
    Then lock the lock again.
Now go to your OS Hardrive and click on Users, your user name, Documents.

  • Premiere cs6 cc cannot export to media encoder

Suddenly today, Premiere cs6 cc sequence export to queue not appearing in media encoder.

This sounds like a glitch in Dynamic Link that is the communication portal between Premiere and AME.  I know this sounds too simple, but alot of time a simple reboot solves this problem.
Also, you wrote "Premiere CS6 CC sequence".
So are you using Premeire CS6 or Premiere CC?
You should also keep Premiere and AME in sync.
So if you update Premiere to 7.0.1, you should also update AME to 7.0.1.
Otherwise there could be a mismatch in Dynamic Link.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 PCM export with 5.1 channels possible?

Due to the missing SurCode DD 5.1 codec in CS4 I wonder if Premiere Pro CS4 or Encore CS4 can export or create a Blu-Ray disc with 5.1 PCM audio?
I only can choose PCM stereo or DD stereo so far.

I've a question. So far I could not export 5.1 channels with Premiere Pro CS4.
Even I could not Master in 5.1. I hav same 5.1Master, but I could not change the (final) Master settings to 5.1. Can this be changed? Or maybe the probleme is that I don't have a driver or a plug-in, or can this be solved with puuting a 5.1 or 7.1 audiocard in the PC?
    Thanks forward!
Oh I'd forgot. I only export to .avi, .mpg, .mp4. I don't use the other formats. Can this be somhow the probleme?

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 update and Media Encoder update fail to install

    Hi -
I've been updating my CC applications. But PP CC 2014 and media Encoder say: "UPDATE FAILED". Naturally I cannot get through to Abobe. Does anyone have a suggestion?
    Harry

    Hi Harry,
Sorry, chat and phone support are closed on weekends for the video queue. We only have general support open on weekends. It's been this way for years. Sorry if that caused some inconvenience.
I hope you have solved your issue. If on Mac, you can update NVIDIA drivers in the NVIDIA control panel in System Preferences. AMD GPUs are merely updated when you update OS X.
Also, please check out the doc that was recommended: Installation failed. Error U44M1P7 | Updates
If you are still having trouble, contact us Monday through Friday 7AM-7PM PST here: Contact Customer Care
If you can't get your issue solved, send me a PM and I'll try and help.
BTW, I am not sure why your post is marked as correct. I do have that ability but did not do that. Sorry for that.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Help with Premiere Pro freezing after importing MPEG files

    I have
had some files sent for me to edit which are MPEG I believe.  They will import, but
as soon as I try and do anything with it, the whole thing freezes for several minutes!  It is unworkable.  I have tried waitin
g for the audio file to conform.  I have tried rendering the work area.  None of this helps.  If it does play, it lasts for a few seco
nds with sound playing at what appears to be twice the speed!  I normally wortk with DV files and these are fine.  By the way, the files I am struggling with do play in media player/real player etc.  I cant believe that premiere would not support this format.  Even Movie Maker just about manages it!  When it does freeze, it really freezes!  As in it wont even let me shut down without literally ripping out the power cable!!  Please help with simple English if possible, and sorry if I havent given you specifics that you would need.  But I honmestly dont know as these were just files sent to me on a memory stick. It was filming from a camcorder, but not sure what type.  The thumbnail says MPEG and the properties just says movie file.  It is about 2GB for an hour I think.  Thanks for any help.  My version is Premier Pro 1.5

Genuinely sorry that I dont know all the technical things that people need
to know.  I always try to find out when I am asked specifically and told how
to find them.  I did look at the link, but that just seemed to be a lot of
stuff about posting ettiquette, nothing about MPEGS.  Perhaps I got the link
wrong.  All a bit hard for me as I have a visual imp[airment.  Thanks again
