Premiere Pro goes into  "nonresponding" status for everything

PPro has always worked without much problem.  My usual editing is one track of SD or HD.  I now have three tracks of HD video with an additional audio track and the program goes into "non-responding" status after a few clicks.  Just making an audio track active will send it to NonResp status.  After a minute or so the track becomes active. Each command goes into "non-resp" status.  Spec below
I7 920
P6t ASUS
12 Gig
GTX 460 (newly installed)
PPro CS 5.0.3
7200 RPM HD's no raid
Note: the tracks are a mix  Video 1 & 2: AVCHD and Video 3:  CAM

Additional info:
I've opened a new project imported the same clips on an HD timeline.    I opened Windows Task Manager and all 8 cores(cpu usage) are active as I play each track as it is brought in, however, there is usually a momentary delay for each command.  Tapping the space bar and the timeline begins to play, BUT only after a 5 or 10 seconds.  All 8 cores are at 100%.  When I tap the space bar to stop, there is a delay of up to 15- 25 seconds.
Also, when I begin to sync tracks manually, the screen freezes and then begins to cycle in and out of 'non-responding' status. At that time only 4 of the 8 cores (cpu usage)  shows any activity.  The cycling continues for more than 5 minutes.  By that time I close the program.
videos is 1hr and 20 min.
Any ideas?
Edit: I have changed the video card back to the original  GeForce 9500 GT

  • Importing a CS5 premiere pro sequence into Encore

I'm pretty new to premiere pro and encore (used encore for the first time yesterday) - so please forgive me if this is a dumb question. I've created a project in Premiere Pro and it plays fine. However, when I import the premiere pro sequence into my Encore project (so I can export it to DVD) it shows the media as being offline. Am I wrong in assuming that if I import a sequence from premiere pro I don't have to import all the sub-assets that the sequence uses as well - shouldn't that happen automatically? Or do I need to import everything? - seems a bit silly if that's the case - why would I not want all the assets that a sequence uses to come across with it? Thanks.

forgive me if this is a dumb question.
Not dumb, but your terms aren't right, and that's probably at the root of your problem.
You "import" a file; you dynamic link a PR sequence, either from Premiere or from within Encore.
When you dynamic link, nothing is actually transferred; a link is set up, and the Premiere sequence is still operating from within an instance of Premiere (even if not visible).
When you eventually transcode (in Encore, usinkg Encore's engine or adobe media encoder), then a file is created inside Encore directory structure.
The media showing as offline means you've done something wrong.
Do you get this message at the very beginning of the link?  Be sure you don't move or rename anything.

  • Is Premiere Pro CS3 the right program for me?

Is Premiere Pro CS3 the right program for me?
I am looking for a program that I can:
Import files that were recorded on a DVR (mp4 format)
Take two files placed next to each other on one screen and record a DVD
    | | | |
    | | | |
    | image one | | image two |
    | | | |
    |______________| |_______________|
Also export the files to other file formats, AVi, MOV

    Dave,
Premiere can do a PiP, Picture in Picture (basically, your PiP is one half of the frame), BUT your MP4 source is not the best to edit, especially with PP. If you had DV-AVI files, Captured in PP from a miniDV (tape) vid-cam, it would do a great job, but so would its little brother Premiere Elements, which wants the same source files as PP.
I have not used Womble, that Jeff recommends, but think that it has PiP. Ideally, you want to keep any re-compression down to a minimum, as you are already working with compressed MPEG files, and every additional re-compression WILL cause image degredation. Depending on the CODEC used to create your MP4 files, you have probably lost a lot of info already, and when you go to MPEG-2 (DV CODEC), for DVD, you'll loose even more. About the only way that I see you keeping any quality is if your MP4's are coded for Blu-Ray, and you can find a program with Smart Render, leaving them just as they are, allowing you to edit, then burning to a BD. Lot of "if's" in that.
I'd check out Womble and see if it can do PiP and if it works with MP4. If Jeff recommended it, it's very likely to do that. Juat expect a major quality hit, because you're already compressed the heck out of the image data once, and will have to do it again.
You could convert your MP4's to DV-AVI with a 3rd party program, Import them into PP, or PE, edit and then burn to DVD - with Encore in PP, or directly from PE. See above for comments on quality hit. It's those source files that are the problem. That format is meant for distribution/viewing and not for editing. The effect, however, is easy as can be. There are many tutorials on how to do it with variations, on the Web, but nearly all NLE programs want better source material to start, if any quality is to be maintained.
I'd also post on the Premiere Elements forum, as a lot of people there work with less than ideal source files, and might know of good free, or cheap, conversion programs to use. If you have the CODEC on your machine, DigitalMedia Converter can handle the conversion for you, and do it in batch. It's cheap at ~ US$45, and can batch process, but it cannot improve the quality, or get back the data lost in the first compression - nothing can.
If this is all you want to do, with the above comments on conversion first taken seriously, Premiere Elements will cost about US$100 and do it easily.
    Sorry for the bad news,
    Hunt

  • Importing Premiere Pro project into After Effects ???

When I import a Premiere Pro project into After Effects, it splits every shot onto a new track, ending up with a couple of hundred tracks at the end.
Is there a way to avoid this ?
Particularly, since I'd want to keep the option of bringing the project file back in Premiere for further editing.
My colorist suggested that I nest reels of my timeline and split it that way so that when he imports it he has nests on one timeline and the multiple tracks in each of those nests. Still, this feel very clunky.

An editor at work was using our Avid to do a grade on a short promo and I
wanted to see what I could do in After Effects. So when he was out of the
office I exported the timeline as an AAF and copied the OMFI media. When I
brought the project into After Effects I ended up with a massive number of
layers and freaked at first at the idea of doing anything with it.
However I thought about it again and decided to precompose all the layers,
as this gave me just one layer to work with. I then added a couple of
Adjustment Layers above it; one with a Levels effect added and the other
with HSL. I also added Masks to the Adjustment Layers so I could vignette
    any effect.
The key to working like this was to use Hold Keyframes at the beginning of
each new shot for each effect, Mask Shape and Feather. I could then adjust
that shot, scrub to the next shot add new Hold Keyframes adjust that shot
and so on. When I wanted to repeat any effect settings on a shot, I just cut
and pasted the relevant keyframes. Mixes across shots can be tricky but you
can always go back to work with the original shots on their separate layers
    if you need to.
I ended up with a quick grade that stood up nicely against the one done on
the Avid and I only had work with 3 layers on my timeline!

  • Arbitrary data param not importing from Premiere Pro project into After Effects.

    Hi,
I have an AE SDK plugin effect that works in Premiere Pro and After Effects... the effect has a bunch of standard parameters and one Arbitrary Data parameter.
I believe that the Arbitrary data parameter is implemented correctly, and I have implemented all of the cases for PF_Cmd_ARBITRARY_CALLBACK...
    PF_Arbitrary_NEW_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_DISPOSE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_COPY_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLAT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLAT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_FLATTEN_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_UNFLATTEN_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_INTERP_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_COMPARE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_PRINT_SIZE_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_PRINT_FUNC
    PF_Arbitrary_SCAN_FUNC
The only issue I have found, is that when importing a Premiere Pro project into After Effects with the "Import -> Adobe Premiere Pro Project" option, the value in the Arbitrary Data
parameter is always the default. There is no problem saving or re-opening projects within AE or PP... and there are no problems with cutting and pasting instances of the effect.
Importing a Premiere Pro project into After Effects using the Dynamic Link works correctly... the Arbitrary data is imported.
    Thanks.

Some kind of answer would be awesome... there are Adobe staff members on here right?

  • Workflow goes into incorrect status RESERVED

    Hi,
We have gone live with the MSS (PCRs) in June and we have a situation where the manager is trying to approve a PCR and when he clicks on the link (which takes him to the approval screen), he receives a NULL error and in the backend the workflow goes into the status 'RESERVED'.
Has anybody come across this situation? Can this be security related?
Any information related to this will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    SC

    Hi Intekhab,
If you are working with workflows for the first time, you can follow below approach
(To add to the statements of Murali and Abdullah)
    1. If you are able to track the related workflow log, Extras->Technical Data will give you the workflow template number
    2. Next take this template number and open it through SWDD transaction and analyze the IDOC process setup in your system. Please goto the step where they are checking the IDOC success/failure, the next steps will have the notifications setup.
(In case you are unable to track the workflow log, try to identify the business process / workflow template related to IDOC errors/notifications in your system, your functional consultant can also help to identify the object involved-> go through the object docs to understand the process)
    - For further info, please paste WF log screenshot
    Hope it helps ...

  • Does Premiere Pro 2 use graphics card for playback?

Does Premiere Pro 2 use graphics card for playback? I am using a 350W PSU, so my nVidia 6600GT runs in low-power mode, and my video playback in Premiere is choppy. The same .avi files play fine in a media player, so it can't be a disc issue I guess... Please advise, thank you!

Only the latest CS5 uses SELECTED card's GPU for video acceleration
    >same .avi files play fine in a media player
Playback is not at all the same as editing
Use the FREE http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ to find out what codec is inside that AVI wrapper
Anything other than DV AVI type 2 with 48khz sound is not going to do well in Premiere

  • CCX - In CAD software agent goes into Reserved status.

    I have CCX 7.0 & CCM 7.1.
In CAD software agent goes into Reserved status when a call hit to the agent & the agent  is not able to take the call as all icons are greyed out. And this is happening to few agents only while for other agents its working fine.
    Can anyone suggets a solution.
    Rgds,
    Kiran Savalsang.

Or more accurately - ensure that the CSS that is assigned to the CTI ports includes the partition in which the agent DNs are configured.
They don't all need to be the same CSS, OR the same Partition.

  • How do I import a Premiere Pro file into After Effects

So I'm an editor, I cut trailers and TV spots. I enjoy making my title cards on After Effects because it gives me a lot of options but I'm having difficulty. How do I import / edit a Premiere Pro file into After Effects? I imported the project file but the whole thing was a mess and nothing made sense. Can anyone explain this process to me?
By the way I used CS5.5 versions of the software.

It actually works better if you go the other way... link an AE comp into your Premiere project.
Create and link to After Effects compositions with Dynamic Link

  • Messages goes into scheduled status in adapter engine

    Hi all
we are doing idoc to file scenario with direct mapping. the messages are getting processed in integration engine sucessfully. the messages are getting into scheduled status in the adapter engine even when there is less load in the server.
Thiis specially happening for IDOC to file scenario only.  Any help is highly appreciated
    Thanks

    >
    > the system is quite good at the moment but the some of the messages again into scheduled status like ( 10 out of 1000 messages ) . the system is not performing at 100 % rate since some messages moves to scheduled status.  Is still the performance can be improved in any other ways ?
    >
This is really strange behaviour , If Communictaion channel functioning correctly then all succesfull messages should deliver to Receiver system.
Better to check payload of scheduled messages(if wrong payload obiously it goes schedule status),try to to reprocess them.
I never used XCOPY command,so no comment on that.

  • Importing a Premiere Pro Sequence into After Effects Crashes After Effects

    Hello,
I'm on a Quad Core Mac, 2.8GHZ with 6GB of Ram.
I have a Premeire Pro project with varying MOV and MP4 files; from a DSLR and from a Sony EX-1 camera.  This project has lots of media, over 3 TBs, and each and every time I try to import it into After Effects-After Effects crashes and does not respond.
    Please help.
    Thanks

Don't try and do a whole movie in AE. After Effects is for making shots or short sequences. Break up the projects. Organize. 3TB of source materials into AE's Project folder means linking, analyzing, interpreting, and generating previews for enough material to shoot a feature film. Bring in the shots you're working on, not the entire movie. If you need to do an entire movie, break that up to Scenes and make each scene a separate project.
Terabytes of data would also choke Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Avid, or any other NLE if it was dumped in all at once. The only reason that a NLE can handle that much data is that there were some caches created when the footage was imported.
