Premiere Pro Into Color

We have an HDV project in Premiere (Windows) that needs to get into Color for final grading. Any recommendations for a workflow? I'm thinking a QT movie timeline export with an EDL, then import to
Color; as to what Premiere can export, who knows?

And its another reason for doing correction on layers. The keyframed "dissolves" always have to deal with the odd mixtures that occur when original clips are mixed together. True, it should track linearly, but the reality is that the keyframes expect to go from A to B... but what happens when in the midst of the dissolve, the chromaticity as calculated by the originating effect pushes the colour through point "C"? Think of what would happen if a predominantly blue scene dissolves through to a predominantly yellow scene (worst case scenario)? Well, obviously blue + yellow = ????? Answer: grey. Okay, so how do you correct around that? If you deal with the original clips, correct them (with the layered approach), then send that back to FCP to do the actual dissolve, situation solved.
That is the real disadvantage of correcting a baked V1 timeline.

  • Exporting from Premiere Pro into Story

Can the metadata etc be exported from Premiere Pro into Story.
For example in the process of roughing out a documentary idea I'm shooting clips and making subclips in bins and developing sequences in this rough style.  It would be useful to document this in Adobe Story if such an interface exists thanks...

    Thank you,

You can render the title out of Premiere Pro as a movie and bring it into After Effects as a video file. Titles aren't automatically converted when you copy and paste from Premiere Pro to After Effects or use Dynamic Link to send something to After Effects.

  • Can you change the photoshop menu color (light gray) to match the default Premiere Pro menu color?

I'm a new Adobe user, and maybe it's my OCD-edness coming out, but I can't stand how Photoshop's menu doesn't match the menu of most of the other apps in the Adobe production suite.  Encore, After Effects, Premiere Pro all have a dark gray menu by default, yet Photoshop CS 5's is light gray.  It should all match, darn it!!! LOL
Is there a way to change Photoshop's light gray menu to match the other app's darker menus?

No, there is no way to change Photoshop's UI color.
Video/film apps have a darker UI because the user should be adapated to video/film viewing environments to judge color and contrast of their images. Using a brigher UI would cause them to mis-correct their images.
Photo editing apps aim for an average of print, gallery, and video environments -- thus going closer to 50% gray. Using too dark or light a UI would cause problems in a general purpose photo editing program.

  • Is it possible to turn a monthly subscription of Premiere Pro into a full CC package plan?

Since I don't get any answers on the topic I just posted,  I will try to reformulate my question.
I have a subscription to Premiere Pro for a year, paid every month. Now I would like to upgrade to a full CC package and thus cancel my subscription to Premiere Pro, but I can't do that. Instead I am expected to pay for the subscription to one program and in addition to the full package as well. Is there a way around this?

We sorted out some things and it's still okay to put the membership on my own account. Since I already am a customer, I'd like to switch to the plan you see on the far right on the picture.

  • Color on exported video on Adobe Premiere Pro Is a bit off from the original source video

I have both Cyberlink powerdirector 10.0 and Adobe Premiere Pro C6
I noticed that adobe premere cs6. when exporting the video.. colors are a little off.. never matching the same tones as the original
    source
i took a screenshot  so you can see what i mean.. Notice Adobe is a a little mor orange. is there a way to fix this? Cyberlink powedirector always matches the source color when you export it. except Adobe Premiere Pro CS 6
i have windows 7 64 bit (Nvidia GeForce GTX 670M

Thanks for answering. I ddi notice different media players show colors different. But on the screenshot i just showed you.. all 3 are from the same media player.
For some reason everytime i export a video from Adobe premiere pro the color is never the same as the source on media player. I tried it on 4 different videos. Other software programs like cyberlink power director export the video with no color change.
1)The original source from the picture is a mpeg-4 (avc)
2)i always use wmv codec to encode all videos. So the shot from Premiere Pro was using WMV codec. and the other shot (cyberlink powerdirector) was also wmv to encde.
    3) I even tried to see if maybe i used a  different video format to encode it would fix the slight color change. like h264 and mov.. but nope still same issue
    4) I did what you told me to show the source and exported video on Adobe Premiere and really weird. the exporterd video from Adobe Premiere now shows the exact color as the source.. but the exported video from Cyberlinkpowerdirector shows the color a bit different.

  • Sending Premiere Pro sequence to Pro Tools for automatic audio conforming

I’m looking to implement an online-offline workflow at my production company, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s feasible to send a sequence from Premiere Pro to Pro Tools with enough metadata to take advantage of Pro Tools’ automatic conforming feature.
Premiere Pro or Audition doesn't seem to have any kind of feature like this, so I’m turning to Pro Tools. Here’s a demonstration of the feature from Avid: http://youtu.be/Gz9e9LuIdXU
For color grading, we’re already sending XML from Premiere Pro into DaVinci Resolve, and DaVinci Resolve perfectly automatically conforms the offline proxies to online high-quality clips suitable for grading. I’m trying to accomplish the same thing with the audio clips to prepare a sequence for sound mixing. The offline proxies in a sequence contain only compressed stereo tracks, but online audio clips have all of the separate uncompressed tracks for each microphone.
My initial thought was that, before any offline editing occurs, I might, in the Premiere Pro Metadata panel, add the names of the sound rolls to all the offline proxies in the “Tape Name” field.
I’m wondering if that metadata for those clips in the Premiere Pro Project Panel are included in an EDL that would be exported out of Premiere Pro, so that Pro Tools would know how to correctly choose online audio clips.
I know EDLs contain timecode, and that seems like it would be sufficient for Pro Tools, if production only occurred within one day. However, if there are audio clips recorded on different days, at the same time of day, some audio clips in a sequence would have identical timecode, and Pro Tools wouldn’t know which clip to automatically conform. It seems like Pro Tools would choose which clip to conform by first looking at timecode, and then if there were multiple clips with the same timecode, it would resolve the conflict by identifying the specific sound roll. This is why it seems important to have the sound roll metadata included in the EDL out of Premiere Pro.
EdiLoad looks like software that might be able to batch update sound roll metadata for an EDL already exported out of Premiere, but I’m not sure.
    http://www.soundsinsync.com/products/ediload
Manually going through Pro Tools and assigning correct sound rolls in a picture-locked cut wouldn’t really be an improvement over manually conforming. If I have to go through a cut and locate online audio clips, I might as well just conform manually.
    So my questions are:
When exporting an EDL out of Premiere, does the EDL include “Tape Name” metadata for Pro Tools to read as a sound roll? If not, is there another format I could use that would make this round-trip feasible?
If not, does anyone have experience with EdiLoad? Would EdiLoad work to do what I'm trying to do?
Is there any other way to accomplish automatic conforming, or something else that I'm missing?

  • Premiere Pro CC refuses to render sequences

I have a project in Premiere Pro where I have a lot of footage that needs to be rendered for editing. Lots of red here! However, any time I try to render by hitting Enter or even selecting a few bits to render in pieces, the rendering window comes up and sits at 0.01% and won't render any frames at all. If I try to cancel it gives a "not responding" message and I have to force close the app. I have tried clearing the media cache and even uninstalled and reinstalled but it still won't render. This isn't a problem with this one project either, but some of them get about 70-75% done before they stop. By the way, these projects were started in CS6 (which I don't have any more) and converted by Premiere Pro into a CC project. I'm running on a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit machine with the Intel i5 2.67GHz and 8 MB of RAM.
Please help! I can't edit if I can't see it!

I have the ATI Radeon HD 5700 video card which I just updated to the latest drivers 14.10.1006-140417a-171099C (which helped a little, as went from stopping at 0.01% to getting almost half way). I do not have GPU acceleration enabled, and the sequence has the "Composite in linear color" unchecked.
All footage was shot on the Canon 7D (MOV files). The project was created originally in CS6 with the HDV option, and the sequences used the DSLR 1080p24 preset with no modifications (although the "Composite in linear color" was unchecked recently). When I replaced CS6 with CC, I opened the project and let Premiere Pro convert it to a CC project.
As for the sequence itself, it has two video layers and five audio layers. I use Red Giant Color Suite II, and all of the clips have Denoiser II and Magic Bullet Looks filters applied. Some of the audio just has fades and blends applied.
I have been loathe to start from scratch considering the time I've already invested. However, if I do would it make a difference if I simply imported the old project or would I need to just import the footage only and start over?

  • Roughcut sequence from Prelude does not appear to be "seamlessly" editable in Premiere Pro CC

    Hi,
    Please Help.
I have been working on a film and created the entire rough cut, using both entire clips and sub clips, in Prelude CC. Once I sent the rough cut to Premiere Pro CC, I expected that I could "seamlessly" (as advertised) continue editing the same sequence of clips and sub clips in Premiere Pro. When I drag and drop the rough cut file that appears in Premiere Pro into the Premiere Pro timeline, it appears as a single block (is that what a "nested sequence" is? is there a way to un-nest a sequence?) instead of a sequence of clips and sub clips.
What is worse, the sub clips do not transfer to Premiere Pro, only the entire original clips. Even if I had to re-create the sequence of clips and sub clips in Premiere Pro, it would at least be better if I didn't have to re-do all of the sub clips. This is incredibly frustrating. I hope there is a solution (other than waiting to buy the next version of the same product).
I would give up and assume that the products just were not designed for what I was expecting them to be designed for, except that in the video tutorials, both within Adobe and elsewhere, the two programs seem to work just as I expected them to (that is probably where I got that expectation actually). When the guy in the video sends a rough cut from Prelude to Premiere Pro, It pops up in Premiere Pro as an editable sequence of clips and sub-clips.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere Pro Export to Encore

Hi would have to consider myself time poor in my experience with Premiere Pro but have managed to create some decent outcomes. I have a completed video and would basically would like to export my final project into Encore CS3 to finalise menus etc. I created the project in one timeline with 12 sequences in Premiere Pro 1.5. My understanding was that if I imported the project into Encore I would have access to each sequence to link to a menu button and so on. This does not seem to be possible and correct me if I wrong but it would appear by reading the manual etc that I need to EXPORT each sequence as a movie from Premiere Pro into a file which would then make it available to IMPORT as an asset into the Encore Project Tab and into the timeline in Encore.
Is this on the right track or way off the mark????
    Johnno

What are your sequence settings and your export settings.

HP is pretty reticent to revealing "Future Plans".  It would be a real shot in the arm though if this happens!
How about it @Ty1 ?  Can you shed any light on the subject?

  • Import Premiere Pro Sequence Problems

Hello, I am new to using CS for video editing so forgive me if this seems very basic.
What I am trying to do, is bring a sequence from Premiere Pro into After Effects so that I can jazz it up with some compositing and effets etc.  I went to File>Dynamic Link and imported my premiere sequence.  It shows up in my project panel, and double clickign it I can view it as normal.  But when I try to drag it into my timeline panel to make a comp, nothing happens.  I have tried draging it to the "create new comp" button within the project panel, and all it does is create an empty comp.  Am I doing something wrong?  I am using Mac OS X 10.7.2

I think you're going about this all wrong. If you go to Adobe Dynamic Link and pick Import Premiere Pro Sequence you get a movie not a composition.
    I don't think that's what you want.
If you go to File>Import>Premiere Pro Project you get all of the footage, the bins, and either all of the sequences as compositions or a selected sequence as a composition. Only cross dissolves and cuts come across but the AE project can quickly become unmanageable if there are lots of cuts. I cut a feature film last year in Premiere Pro and there were just a little over 3000 edits. Can you imagine working on a comp with 3000 layers???
    The project looks like this:
The only difference between importing a movie and importing a Premiere Pro Project using dynamic link is that you can go back into Premiere Pro and re-edit the movie, then bounce back into AE and see the edits without rendering the Premiere Pro sequence. It's not at all useful to do what you describe in your original question. I didn't read carefully when I posted the first answer.
My usual workflow, in fact the workflow used in the project I'm showing here, is to go to one or a few of the shots I'm working on in Premiere Pro, select them then right click on the selected shots and choose Replace with After Effects Composition. This enables AE, allows me to concentrate on the sequence that needs the work in AE, keeps my AE projects very manageable, and lets me work faster and more efficiently. This runway show First Cut had about 15 effects shots, each requiring only about 3 or 4 layers. If I had imported the entire PPro project I would have had about 500 layers to sort out and the comp would have been completely unmanageable.
