Premiere Pro Mixing Up Clips

Problem
I have a problem where Premiere Pro CS 5.5 is mixing up the thumbnails in my timeline and the clips in the export preview window. I exported my film and while watching it, some clips are in the wrong places. It is very aggravating because in my timeline it does not mix up the clips. It only mixes up some of the thumbnails. In the export preview window it mixes up the clips as well.
Examples
Here is an example of mixing up the thumbnail:
In this image, the thumbnail for this clip is different than the actual scene. The thumbnail is from an earlier scene in the film. In export, it shows the correct clip.
Here is an example of mixing up the clip:
In the image, the clip shown in the main timeline monitor is correct. The thumbnail in the timeline is of another clip. The clip in the export preview is another one. The two clips are at 00:04:54:18 in the image above. I do not have any idea why this is happening.

You can try deleting the Cache or resetting preferences.

In Windows 8.1 Premiere Pro video imported clips shows up black screen in Source & Work space. Everything is updated on my PC. They say it could have been a Windows update? Is anyone else having this problem and found a solution any suggestions.. Thank you.

Hello, thank you for your help. I finally was able to contact someone from Adobe on line.. It took about 1 hour on hold but I finally won the lotto...Lol. Pr.. /Project/Project Settings/General/ I had the (Mercury Playback Engine GPU Accelerated (CUDA) and not the (Mercury Playback Engine Software Only) It only took 1 second for Adobe to figure it out...Lol.
Although I have a high rated Nvidia card that did handle the software for some time after a hack, I believe a Windows update may have altered my Premiere Pro CS6 settings.
Video card is Geforce Nvidia GTX 765M non compatible with (Mercury Playback Engine GPU Accelerated (CUDA). Thank Ronin Edits and cvid01

  • I'm unable to drag-and-drop a script from the Story window in Premiere Pro to a clip

I have a film script visible in the Story window, and I try to drag it to the relevant clip in the Premiere Pro project window—but nothing happens.
I have also tried to attach an astx file, but I get the "matching scene number not found" error, even though I put scene number 1 in the clip and in the astx.
    What am I doing wrong?
Incidentally, though your help indicates that "all the scripts" you have in Story will be visible in the Story Windows in Premiere Pro, I can see only the film scripts—not for instance the multicolumn scripts I also have.  Is there something I can do about this?
    Thanks you,
    PIerre Sauvage

    Hi,
Please make sure that you are performig drag drop with scenes and not complete scripts. You will notice a cursor change when you do so. For more clarification, please refer to this post. 'http://forums.adobe.com/message/5533247#5533247'.
Importing astx is a much longer way to go through the same thing , so i would suggest to try out the drag drop workflow only and let me know in case you still face issues with it.
Also, yes, column scripts wont be visible to you in the Story panel inside Premiere. For this, I am afraid you will have to convert your column scripts into a film script. Let me know if you need help with this.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?
Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?
For Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information
-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

  • Re: Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Trimming clips (CS6)

How do we access just the P Pro CS6 Help Reference instead of all this community content?

Regarding changes to Help, please read this document first: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/community-help.html
    [Jeff Sengstack]
How do we access just the P Pro CS6 Help Reference instead of all this community content? When will Help arrive?
Jeff, this is the Help reference. It arrived the moment we shipped CS6. There is tons of new writing here for the CS6 trimming features here on this page. The documentation covers all the new features. I also have some tutorials plugged in. What is your specific complaint about the page for trimming in CS6? If there is a problem with the content being incorrect, or missing info, I can fix it. I cannot fix the way that the new Help system is designed, however, I can provide feedback to my superiors.
Also, we've been plugging in supporting community content into Help along with reference content for quite some time so that should be no surprise. We hope it is a help, rather than a hindrance. These articles and tutorials are from authors I worked with during prerelease, so tutorials are vetted, and the content is valid.
    [Jim Simon]
    Can't yet.
You can access the entire Help system for Premiere Pro here: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/topics.html or just press F1. This page (called the "Topics Page"), although different in appearance, has very similar chapter topics that were found in the CS5/CS5.5 Help table of contents.
The only thing you cannot yet do is download the entire Help system as a PDF. That feature is coming next month: http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/x-productkb/global/cs6-help-pdf-available-june.html
    [shooternz]
I am kind of staggered that Adobe launched and released without Help Files for these CS6 products. Particularly in the case of SpeedGrade where I needed most Help.  New and unfamiliar applications need Help Files for Users to get up to speed! Adobe are now relying on the cool Tutorial Videos (which have great value) but are hopeless in terms of such basics as "Setting Up"  and trouble shooting.  "RTFM"...What FM? I have put SpeedGrade on the backburner because of this.  (I simply can not resolve some set up issues due to lack of available goto info.)  May not get back to it for sometime actually.
That's not true, shooternz. Help files are available for every Adobe product. Just press F1. For Premiere Pro, the list of topics (table of contents) is here: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/topics.html Keep in mind that this is a brand new Help system, and it took extra effort to complete the content and make sure that the system functioned properly. If there are any problems with the system, please let me know. For example, search needs to be improved and that is something we know about and are working on.
SpeedGrade Help is sparse because we just got the product 6 months ago. Given our time constraints, there simply was not enough time to develop a full Help system. On behalf of Adobe, I apologize for not being able to provide full documentation for SpeedGrade. I assure you, though, that a full set of Help documentation for SpeedGrade will be available later this year. In the mean time, if you have questions about SpeedGrade, check out the user-to-user forum here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/speedgrade
    [Jeff Sengstack]
The issue is not how to access Help (pressing F1), it's how to access the old Help reference. The new Help system is community-oriented and does not include access to the old Help reference file.
Do you mean you want the CS5/CS5.5 Help without the CS6 content? It's available here on PDF: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/archive.html
The "new community-oriented" Help is not new. We've been adding community content along with the reference content for some time now. If you mean to say the Help is only created by the community, that is totally incorrect. I am the writer for Premiere Pro, I include all the details of the new features, and I cull content to support the writing.
If one noodles around in community help, one will find bits and pieces of the old Help reference but no single source.
The previous Help content is included verbatim into current Help. It just has CS6 content added to it. It also "looks different" and is more search based. Again, search the PDF if you need to see the CS5/CS5.5 Help without CS6 content.
That is unfortunate, because Community Help is a cobbled-together, clumsy means to find solutions. Wheras, when using the old Help reference, it was a lot easier to quickly track down answers to basic questions.
I would really like to pinpoint what you are missing from CS5/CS5.5 Help. Why is it harder now to find what you need? The main differences I see is that there are no "next page" buttons, or hierarchy links. Is this what is bothering you? By the way, you can return to the topics page by clicking "Adobe Premere Pro Help" in the upper left of the page.
    [Wodehouse]
I thought something had gone wrong with Master Collection installation because not a single product has any HELP guide!!!!
Help systems are no longer managed by the Community Help Client and are now handled by the Adobe Help Manager. There may be edge cases where Help might not appear in previous systems. Check the Adobe Help Manager and see if you can have access to the Help that you want. More on the Adobe Help Manager in this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1000134

  • Problem with Premiere Pro CC - destroyed clips after re-opening a project

    Hey there,
I´m currently experiencing a big issue that is costing me tons of time. I can work just fine on my project, until I close it. After re-opening the project, all the clips within my sequence start over at every cut I´ve made. That means, I dont have a continious video anymore, and my whole project is destroyed. I cant seem to repair it either, and so far, had to start over.
Note: this only happens once I close and re-open the project. So, something must be going wrong while closing the project.
Here are the facts that might be of relevance:
    I´m using:
    - .mov videofiles ( filmed with NTSC / ALL-I 30 fps, 1920x1080 )
    - .wav audiofile
    - pluraleyes 3 for syncing
    - sequences in the project are set on 1920x1080p but on 25fps.
    - I´ve been working on an internal SSD
    what I have already tried:
    - "reconnect" the source files by saving them in a different location
    - working on a different PC
    - try backup files and autosaves ( they look all the same, dont ask me why )
Everything works perfectly fine besides that issue. I haven´t found any reasonable help on that matter while searching trough the web, so I´m coming to you.
I´m hoping to find a solution for this problem, as its preventing me from making any progress. Please let me know if you need more information about the project and/or the issue.
    Thanks in advance!

If you're working with multicam sequences, then it sounds like you're running into an issue that was fixed in update 7.0.1.
This is the main thread on that issue: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5548970#5548970. For some users, the fix has redeemed sequences bitten by the bug.
If you're not editing multicam sequences or you already have 7.0.1 installed, then please provide more info about the nature of your sequences, merged clips, etc.

  • Premiere Pro - synchronize video clips according to recording date/time

The issue - no way to sync clips via recdate/time. No way to sync clips that have no timecode crossing on timeline.
And no possibility to sync an optional number of clips - i have to select 1 clip per track.
It would be nice to have a placement mode 'Rec date/time' in 'Project->Automate to sequence' function, or/and other synchronization tool.

    Barry Green at dvxuser:
    http://dvxuser.com/articles/sync/
And the cameras will stay in sync as long as you don’t turn one of them off, or change between CAMERA and VCR modes.
    And again(russian site):
However, be aware that sync may drift slightly between the cameras throughout the day, and if you turn off one of the cameras, change batteries, or switch a camera to VCR mode, that can briefly interrupt the flow of timecode.
The Red users have to use tc generator or re-sync camera with sound recorder after battery change in order to have correct timecode. http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=18029&page=2
Could a future version of RED be built to hold time code during battery changes? (Please???)
The major problem is not camera or hardware-based.

  • How do I synchronize multiple *sequential* clips using audio waveforms in Premiere Pro CC?

I recorded a concert at my kids' school.  I ended up with:
Video in six separate clips (video+audio) from my Canon 5D Mark III camera
A single audio clip from my Zoom H4n recorder
The 5D Mark III can only record clips of up to 4GB in size, and clips 30 minutes in length.  The clips broken up by the 4GB size limit are adjacent to each other, but the clips broken up by the 30-minute limit have a stop-pause-restart gap of a few second.
On past such projects, I have used PluralEyes 3.0 to synchronize the clips.  But PluralEyes converts each stereo audio track into dual mono tracks, which I don't like.
I just happened upon this video:  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-premiere-pro-cc/merge-clips-automatically-using-audio-wave forms/?t=0  It shows how to synchronize a single video+audio clip with another audio clip.  It also shows how to synchromize multiple concurrent video+audio clips with another audio clip, for multi-camera editing.  But it doesn't show how to synchronize multiple sequential video+audio clips, as I got from my Canon 5D Mark III.
It seems that every time I select multiple video clips, the Synchronize item in the pop-up menu is disabled.  When I select only the first video clip and the full-duration audio clip, I can synchronize them with audio waveforms.  But then when I try to select the second video clip and the full-duration audio clip and synchronize them, it breaks the sync of the first video cilp
Can Premiere Pro CC synchronize multiple sequential video clips using the audio waveform method?
I am running Premiere Pro CC version 7.2.1 (4).
    Thanks.

I'm an editing newbie but this was the very first task I needed to do, i.e. align multiple video clips with a single audio track. My setup is similar. I'm shooting with a Canon 70D, which breaks up video into 4gb clips, which are continuous and easy to align end to end. But the 70D like the 5D only shoots for 30 minutes continuously, so a second or two is lost hitting record again. My external audio was recorded continuously with a camera mounted Tascam (like a zoom) with a line in to the camera. So, in theory, the audio should be the same on the external audio and the audio associated with the video clips, which probably helps the software identify the identical wave forms.
I found that I could roughly align the video clips based on the audio wave forms and then "synchronize" the audio as shown in the video (Merge clips automatically using audio waveforms | Adobe Premiere Pro CC tutorials). I found that this aligned the audio perfectly but separated the video from its associated audio track. But it's easy to select the video and snap it back into alignment with its audio. While it would be nice to have everything merge automatically, using synchronize sequentially did not take much time.
    Hope that all makes sense.

  • Premiere Pro 6.02: Error/Freeze when moving clips

After loosing media connections in a current project (http://forums.adobe.com/message/4678615#4678615) here's my next big problem with Premiere Pro 6.02. As soon as I try to move certain clips in a sequence, I get this error message and Premiere Pro freezes:
These clips play fine, but as soon as I try to move them: bang!
I de-installed and re-installed Premiere Pro, but that did not help.

HFS+ Journaled has absolutely no positive effect on individual volumes. It helps data recovery with raid volumes and the OS drive with Time Machine. HFS+ Journaled however does cause allot of issues due to the Meta Data applied to the file system and adds significant performance degrading to drive requests in general. People who use HFS+ Journaled are simply creating far more failure points that will effect their editing experience and time frames. Honestly I see allot of Meta Data based issues on the Mac side in this forum and I would be willing to bet most would go away if the Drives would be formatted to HFS+ Non Journaled and then create a new master directory to copy the data back into to break the Meta Data ties in the volume table. Whether clients follow that advice is up to them. However people cannot hold Adobe at fault for issues caused by partition tables and OS specific functions when there are clear ways those are avoided. If clients are passing Storage media to others that use PC then they definitely want those media formatted HFS+ Non Journaled because right now Mac Drive has allot of issues with that. This is a clear message, to avoid failure follow recommended configuration policies.

  • Clips freeze in Premiere Pro but not Premiere Elements

I have downloaded the Creative Cloud trial of Premiere Pro. When I import clips and try to play them within it, the clip plays for the duration of the clip but the picture is frozen. The clips are MP4s and I have tried them in other programs and they work fine so the issue is not with the clips. I have converted them to every format I can think of but nothing works in Premiere Pro. The clips will play in the trial version of Premiere Elements, and Microsoft Movie Maker, just not in the trial version of Premiere Pro. I'm on Windows 8 on a brand new PC with Intel® HD Graphics 4400, 1TB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive, 8GB 2 DIMM (2x4GB) DDR3L 1600Mhz memory. The other weird thing is I put together a couple of the frozen clips and then saved them out as a movie, and in the movie the clips were moving even though in Premiere they were frozen. It's some kind of playback issue in Premiere Pro alone. Any ideas why the videos are frozen and won't play? Thanks!

  • Wiederhergestellte Clips - Premiere Pro

  • Only half of the video clips have sound after import to Premiere Pro

    Hi!
When I import my .MTS fukes into Premiere Pro 2014 longer clips loose sound after half the clip. The clips themselves have sound because they are with sound when I watch them using VLC.
How can this sound issue be solved?

    Thanks for the screenshot.
Hmm. I don't recall any other reports of a problem like this with MTS files. [Just today I was working on a similar issue with P2 content, but it was limited to spanned clips. Hence that question...]
First thing I'd try is to clear the media cache files, at least for the affected clips. You should find those files here: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\. If not there, then check Preferences>Media.

  • Audio "drifting" to total desync in Premiere Pro and only in that program (not media players)

Whenever I import a longer clip (entire movie or TV episode) and cut out a scene that isn't in the very beginning, the sound is lagged in an unexpected way. It seems to "drift" over time, so that it fits perfectly in the beginning of the movie, but is horribly out of sync toward the end, and smoothly transitions to this throughout the movie.
I'm going to spare you the details of how I've cursed violently at this, even destroyed hardware and pulled my hair out of frustration. I've lost so many hours of productivity just trying to manually re-sync every damn clip.
OS: Windows 8. It was the same thing on Windows 7. All official stable patches. On multiple computers. None of them have any weird/exotic changes whatsoever. In fact, they are very clean and well maintained. This has happened in both CS 6 and CC of Premiere Pro.
Short clips seem to always work. It COULD have something to do with the .avi format specifically, but I don't know.
Very important: The clips that "audio drift" in Premiere Pro work flawlessly in all my media players. I can watch them perfectly in Media Player Classic, VLC, etc. Only when inside Pr, either as preview or as an exported file, do they have desynced audio in this manner. It's 100% verified that this only happens in Pr. In fact, even Windows Live Movie Maker seems to not be affected by this "drift".
    Please help.

    >entire movie or TV episode
That would SEEM to indicate you are not editing video from a camera, but from some kind of screen capture or a "rip" of a source file... and playing is not at ALL like editing
    >something to do with the .avi format
AVI is a wrapper, what is inside YOUR wrapper - Exactly what is INSIDE the video you are editing?

  • Premiere Pro CC and GoPro3 orientation issue?

When I take footage from GoPro Hero 3+ (1080p/24)  to Premiere Pro (CC) timeline, Premiere Pro shows the clips in portrait mode altought they should be in landscape mode. In source window the orientation is right (landscape) but in the timeline window orientation is portrait.   How can I change the orientation.  There is no difference if I convert the footage in GoPostudio or Premiere Pro.  With other cameras I have't had  this problem.
And sorry that this could be quite elementary question.

My earlier post here could be understanded wrongly.  In my case Premiere Pro in fact does not change the orientation of the footage but the orientation of the video frame (in timeline preview) where it shows the footage.  So there is black up and down and you can't see right and left sides of the footage.  I can change the orientation of the footage but thats not the question. How can I change the orientation of the video frame on timeline preview?
On another post in this forum some (maybe) expert says that "video frame is always Landscape and is determined by the display device / screen"?!
