Premiere Pro non-responsive

I have been using Production Premium CS5 for a couple of years now without an issue. Today I made a new project and imported some video clips and dropped them in a new sequence. Then I tried to replace one of the clips (right-click it and "replace footage") and nothing happened. Then I was unable to do anything else, although my mouse was not frozen and PPRO did not say it was not responding. I tried this with other projects and the same thing happened. It also happened when I tried to import additional footage after dropping the initial footage in a new sequence. The only way I could get out was to force quit through Windows task manager.

Hmm... that is a fairly "old" ATI card, and I wonder if a Windows Update changed "something" in the Windows display DLL's that is causing your problem, even with a newer driver
Not video editing, but my wife's computer has an ATI 5450 and she uses Win8 and a 3D Cad program for house design (our house is for sale and she is designing the next/last/retirement house we will will build when this one sells)
When I updated her computer to Win8.1 it TOTALLY KILLED the 3D part of her program... flat lines would draw to outline the house & rooms, the rendering of 3D images would no longer work (and, she also uses 2 monitors, which she would NOT give up) so I had to use my recovery software to put her back to Win8
Even if you are on Win7 it is possible that a Windows update is the root of your problem with that "older" card

Premiere Pro non-Creative Cloud options

I use iDVD Pro for simple clip timelines but I'm tired of it. I'm looking for a video editing application
and a friend recommended Adobe Premiere (I already have PS6 and Adobe Bridge CS6).
All the Adobe Premiere online offers mention:
a) a price per month, and b) a "Creative Cloud" subscription.
I want nothing to do with the cloud, and I'm not really interested in paying a monthly subscription.
Is there an option for me to pay a one-off fee for the software, use it whenever I please
and store the clips wherever please?

MacBook pro non responsive

My Mac is only a few months old and last night, after being in sleep mode, I opened it and touched the finger pad with no response and still today the screen is black and after pressing the start button it is still unresponsive. When it's plugged into power the light on the chord lights but there is no other activity. I have had no previous issues with it up until last night. What's wrong with it and how how can I fix it?

Ho scaricato Adobe Premiere Pro e ogni volta che provo a lanciarlo mi compare questo messaggio: "Errore di avvio di Adobe premiere pro. Premiere pro non può accedere alla cartella delle preferenze. E' possibile che l'utente non disponga dei permessi.....". Io ho modificato i permessi delle cartelle, ma continua a ripetermi lo stesso messaggio, senza neanche permettere alla applicazioni di aprirsi. Cosa posso fare?
P.S. La cosa strana è che Premiere è l'unico programma che porto la voce "pro"...tutti gli altri sono solo CC. Non so se può essere un fattore....

I downloaded Adobe Premiere Pro, and every time I try to run it I get this message: "Error starting Adobe premiere pro. Premiere Pro can not access the preferences folder. It 'possible that the user does not have permission ... .. ". I tweaked the permissions of the folders, but continues to repeat the same message, without even allowing the applications to open. What can I do?
P.S. The strange thing is that Premiere is the only program that harbor the "pro" ... all the others are just CC. I do not know if it can be a factor ....

In Premiere Elements 8, None of my projects will open. Says projects were created in Premiere Pro, when they were not. Cannot create new projects either. Basically, the program is completely bricked an unable to do anything once it gets past the welcome screen.
My projects are all saved as .prel
They were all working, when suddenly none of them would work any more. I can no longer use this program, and I really need to. Have already tried running the program as an administrator and creating a second admin account. Also tried going to the basic graphics driver.

Thanks for the helpful additional information. Because of the nature of the description of your problem (references to Premiere Pro which you do not have et al), I would encourage you to go directly to the following which I suggested previously by the following question.
5. Have you gone the route of Uninstall/ccleaner run through - regular and registry components of the cleaner), reinstall?
1. Uninstall Premiere Elements 8 via the usual Control Panel/Installed Program area route.
2. Download and install the free ccleaner and run the computer through its regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts.

Open the program to see something like
Click on "Run Cleaner" with the "Cleaner Tab" selected in the left column of the dialog. Click OK to the pop up to initiate the automatic process.
After the regular cleaner portion is done, then click on "Registry" in the left column of the dialog. It should look something like

when done
Click on "Fix selected issues"
when pop up appears
Click Yes to "backup changes to the registry"
when done
Click "Fix selected issues" in the pop up that now appears
when done
Click Close.

I use this procedure routine for computer maintenance without issues (Windows XP 32 bit as well as Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 64 bit). It is a widesly used tool.

That 8.0.1 installation can be done with Premiere Elements 8 closed.
Adobe set up that 8.0.1 Update so that they is no 8.0.1 shown in the program after installation of it. You will probably get a message of installation completed successful. The major evidence that it has been installed will be the turn off of the previously default "Automatic Background Rendering" in preferences. You still have to turn off the "Automatic AutoAnalzyer" in Elements Organizer, a must do.

Premiere Pro 1.5 OEM to Premiere Pro CS4 upgrade non-OEM?

According to Adobe customer service chat, I was told that the serial number of my Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 is an OEM version. I purchased it on eBay. Adobe informed me that is not liscensed to anyone and is not registered.
Adobe told me that when going from OEM to the Premiere Pro CS4 upgrade CD, my Premiere Pro will no longer be the OEM version.
Is this true?
Also, I am able to upgrade OEM Premiere Pro 1.5 to non-OEM CS4. Anyone have experience with this?

You may have to first open the old project on a PC, as there was no Mac version for 1.5.

How to obtain Video and Non Video Serial Keys for Premiere Pro CS6

Discovered that certain codec presets (specifically the AVCHD codec) was not available for Premiere Pro CS6 installed under Creative Cloud for Enterprise.
Understand there are two different serial numbers for use in installation. One of these serial numbers is labeled "Video," and one is labeled "Non-Video.
Where are these serial numbers located? How are the serial numbers obtained?

Here is where some additional confusion arises (reference bottom part referring to Video Serial Keys) Adobe support said that these Video Keys are to be purchased from the reseller (which makes no sense)
Error "...a sequence that could not be opened"
So, if I understand from your replies and what I have read - it is of the belief that by de-activating and re-activating will address the issue of the missing codecs. Do you believe this to be correct as well?

Premiere Pro CC only using 30% CPU and none of the GPU

Hi,
I’m very new to video editing (actually I have no Idea what H264, or avi or mp4 or mov is, I just need the video to work) and I have never used Premiere Pro before. Now I'm trying the CC 7.0 trial.
My goal is to achieve the fastest rendering times possible.
Today I have upgraded my PC for maximal performance in video editing:
Intel i7 4930K (12threads)
Radeon 6950 (2GB)
16GB RAM
SSD
I have a recorded video of me playing a PC game in .avi 2552*1348 resolution (2560*1440 monitor without some borders).
I have set export to H.264 and settings to match source (resolution 2552*1348, 30 FPS, Progressive, Square pixels, NTSC, main, 5.0).
But when rendering (no effects, just cutting) the program only uses 22-45% of the entire CPU and none of the GPU.
The best result with this stress was cca 1:1 rendering:movie length. I'm using 16GB RAM, I tried 32GB and 64GB and the stress on CPU and GPU was the same and the rendering times changed only slightly.
I have an SSD and the read write speeds during rendering are 1-9 MB/s so there is plenty of performance left.
Frankly, this 1:1 performance offers Power Director 11 which I have been using so far. (When editing 1080p the ratio in PP is cca 1:2,5, the same as in Power Director.)
So when the disks are idle, the GPU is idle, more RAM changes nothing and the CPU only works on 1/3 its capacity, what is the bottleneck?
I want to use 100% of the CPU and 100% of the GPU and have the rendering:movie say 0,3:1 or so.
What can I change to fully use the processing power of my computer?

I too am experiencing this issue. AVCHD footage, GPU Acceleration, trying to apply a cross dissolve, and instead it randomly seems to see it as a simple cut. The Cross Dissolve is simply ignored... Adjusting the footage length, removing the CDissolve, re-rendering, etc. have no effect. For whatever reason, in that specific location on the timeline, a cross dissolve with GPU acceleration is impossible. Yet, in other sections of the timeline, it is just fine.
(The Fast Blur trick mentioned above worked (Thank you!) however, when I changed my playback resolution on the screen display, that broke the fix. Deleting the fast blur, and applying it to the clip on the other side of the cross dissolve, re-enabled the work around)
I also see an issue when a clip changes in the timeline, (cut from one piece of footage, to another) the video will begin to studder, dropping frames. Framerate seems to drop to about 2fps. To get smooth playback back, I have to pause and resume the playback. Even if this is done very very rapidly, it still fixes the playback issue. it's just really annoying to have to constantly stop and resume playback everytime a video clip changes in the timeline.
I have a dedicated hard drive for video, and a dedicated mirrored array for the OS. the video drive is a 7200rpm SATAII drive, and I'm using AVCHD footage. I really don't think it's a disk speed issue... particularly as pausing and resuming (even if you do it as fast as you can possibly hit the keys) fixes it. I'd rather not spend the $ to set up a RAID 10 for video, if I can avoid it and particularly if it's not needed.

Non riesco a lavorare con Premiere PRO

Ho una videocamera AVDHC Canon HF 100 e non riesco a metterla in linea su Premiere Pro. Inoltre, se scarico le clip sul mio hard disck e poi le importo su Premiere Pro quest'ultime seppur appaiono nel pannello di acquisizione non riesco poi a trascinarle nella Time Line, il cursore si trasforma in una manina con il simbolo di divieto.

Error launching Premiere Pro CS6 due to non-capable video drivers

Premiere Pro not finding any capable video drivers. I am newly subscribed to the CS6 Creative Cloud and using a brand new Toshiba i7 windows laptop. When I try to launch Premiere Pro, I get the error message -" could not find any capable video display modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again." This is the only/first Adobe program that I have installed so far besides the Adobe Application Manager on this machine. I believe the i7 controller should be able to handle this. What next?

Will other non-supported video cards work with premiere pro?

I have some older Dell Optiplex 755 and 760's that have limited space for graphics cards. Most everything that I find that will fit or I can afford are not on the Premiere Pro system requirements list of supported cards. Will others work?

Initial benchmark results with AMD cards show they are about two times slower than equally priced nVidia cards.

AMD and Intel cards used with the perpetual license are at least 10 x slower than nVidia cards when hardware MPE is turned on.
