Premiere Pro, Photoshop & Graphics Cards in SLI or Crossfire

Simple question for those who are hardware knowledgable,
Can a computer system that has dual graphics cards setup in SLI or Crossfire run Premiere Pro and Photoshop CS5.
I am not looking at whteher it will get bonuses in editing or anything, just can it run?
According to some on these forums it cannot at all but I am currently running both PS and Premiere Pro on a system with dual GTX 460 without issues.
Do anyone else have dual cards in SLI or Xfire running these programs?

Hi,
I've tried this week installing two 6850 graphics cards with crossfire and using the latest Catalyst Control Centre (ver 13.something) and after effects worked fine but Premiere kept crashing big time. I then tried one graphics card with CCC (ver 13.something) and it still crashed. I had to use the CCC version 12 something that came with the graphics card in order to even get one card working and that doesn't seem to support the crossfire.
Ouch is my response, anyone got any ideas?

  • Macbook Pro Retina 2014 Top Spec - Premiere Pro CC Graphics Card Issue

    Hello,
For 12 months I have been having graphics card issues which all started on my 2011 MBP, which Apple replaced 12 months ago. I Then got a new shiny, 2013 highest end retina macbook pro from apple, in which after a couple of weeks had the exact same graphics issue. As soon as I start working in Premiere Pro with my 1080P DSLR footage, once the fans get up high, then the graphic colour hologram like start pooping on my screen. Now I got that retina replaced as I alerted apple about it, now they have given me the highest end 2014 model, and guess what? The problem is twice as bad.
I think it's definitely got something to do with the Apple software. It's weird though, because on the rare occasion, the graphic poop will show up on my screen when I am on Youtube (only once in a blue moon it does that) - it does it every single time 15-20 mins into editing with Premiere Pro, once the fans get hot. I can click on the graphics poop and it makes it disappear, which is weird, maybe that proves it software issue?
I don't know, but this problem has caused me to go through two of apples most powerful laptops, 60 phone calls to Apple, 1 investigation lodged to the Apple Engineers (the people who are above the Senior Apple Care Advisors) - Nothing seems to fix it, and I haven't been able to create any more intriguing films on my laptop because Premiere Pro CC just brings up all the graphics poop.

Thanks for the follow up information for my video card/graphics card question that came to mind out of curiosity.
I do not have Premiere Pro and am strictly and Elements Windows user. Otherwise I would look into this matter for you first hand. The place you want to be is in the Adobe Premiere Pro Forum, although, as you already mentioned, the screen display irregularities have appeared when Premiere Pro was not being used. Have you tried uninstalling Premiere Pro to determine if its removal from the computer resolves the screen display irregularities for whatever you are doing in the computer applications like iMovie? For that matter, do you see the problem in iMovies?
Just some thoughts to think about as you compose your inquiry for the Premiere Pro users in the Premiere Pro Forum.
    Best wishes

  • How to upgrade my Macbook Pro's Graphic Card?

    I have a Early 2012 13 inch Macbook Pro and it's ***** when I play games.
    Here are the specs:
    - 2.8 GHz dual-core Intel Core i7
    - 6 GB RAM
    - Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
    - OSX Mavericks 10.9.2
    - 750 GB HDD 1333 MHz DDR3
It lags a lot when I play such an old games such as GTA Vice City (the FPS drops a lot when my mac getting hot) or GTA San Andreas (quite stable). Both of them aren't modded and still original. Is there any way to upgrade my Macbook Pro's graphic card?

You cannot upgrade the Graphics card on a laptop because everything is built into the logic board. Unfortunately your perticular graphics chip is actually built into the CPU, and is a very low performing chip which would definately make gaming hard.
    Sorry for the bad news.

  • Can I use ATI graphics cards in SLI in MSI-7100?

My stupid-question-ometer is going off the scale, but I don't know the answer; can I use ATI graphics cards in SLI in my machine?
Also, whilst I'm at it, according to my knowledge, AMD are considered, in general, the lowest cost per unit power. Is it the same with ATI or nVidia - which generally offers best value?

And can you refine your other question, please. For one, ATI and AMD is one company now. Intel and AMD/ATI mostly have processors that in normal run are equal, but Intel has more refined top-end processors. In benchmarks Intel's normally score higher.

  • 2009 Mac Pro upgrading graphics card to GTX 680 mac. What is the best version of AE and PP and OSX to have?

    Hello,
    I have a 2009 Mac Pro 4.1
    Mac OSX version 10.6.8
    Processor - 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory - 24GB
Graphics Card - ATI Radeon HD 4870
I use After Effects and Premiere Pro daily for my work. I am not too technically minded. I want to update and improve my machine as much as possible and am thinking of buying an SSD drive to replace my current start up disk. I also am thinking about getting the GTX 680 mac version graphics card. I have read many online discussions regarding OpenCL and CUDA, many discussions with mixed feelings about the improvements the 680 gives an older Mac Pro - some people say it is amazing others say the improvements seem minimal or worse.
What I want to know is if I purchase the SSD and 680 graphics card what is the optimal OSX - 10.8 or 10.9? and what is the optimal versions of AE and PP to have - CS6 or CC? Also what settings and what additional drivers would I need to consider?
I contacted an independent authorised mac reseller and he thought it was a bad idea to put a new graphics card and get the latest OSX in an old machine and tried to sell me a used 2010 Mac Pro, but I think it would be more cost effective to get the SSD and 680 instead, it's just I read the occasional horror story on a forum and I worry about making the wrong choice, I rely on my Mac Pro to make a living!
    Thanks in advance

Thank you for the valuable information Eric, I think I will go with the 680 but I understand that it wont be fully utilised on my old Mac Pro.
Perhaps I will replace my startup/applications hard drive with a 480GB SSD. My other 3 bays are full with 3 x 2TB Hard drives that have media on them so I have no spare room for a dedicated SSD drive for AE cache. But could I put a 250GB SSD into one of the PCI-E slots using something like - SSD SuperSpeed Upgrade Kit for Apple Mac Pro 2008 2009 2010 2012 | eBay
Would this be my best solution? Is it a relatively simple installation, does anyone have any experience of a similar setup?
cc_merchant, thank you for the reply, I am aware you have to pay monthly payments for CC, that is no problem.

  • Premiere Pro and graphics drivers

I’ve started a trial of Premiere Pro but when I try to open the programme, I get an error message stating: ‘Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again’.
I’ve tried rolling back my graphics driver to an earlier version and this fixed the problem. However, I can’t use this driver as it only offers a very limited screen resolution. When I updated my graphics driver, I got the same error message.

  • Premiere Pro CC2014 - Graphic problem makes my machine freezes

    Hi guys,
I use Adobe Premiere Pro since the subscriptions began.
When I did the update to CC 2014, an issue starts and this freaking me out until now.
I don't have a clue for what makes it starts but in a common edit day, after editing about 1 hour... the software starts to show graphic erros (like you can see in the pictures attached). After this, about 20 minutes with the problem my machine freezes.
It only happens with Premiere Pro. I use all other softwares from Adobe without any problems.
    What do you think about?

    Hi Duca,
Sorry to hear about your issues.

Typically, this is a Mac only issue on OS X 10.9 and OS X 10.10. It can occur on any Mac containing a NVIDIA GPU, but most commonly on MacBook Pro laptops with a NVIDIA GPU installed.
Typically occurs when using Premiere Pro with other GPU intensive applications.
Other GPU intensive applications that are popular with Apple users include Google Chrome, Apple App Store, Apple iTunes, and Spotify.
Some editors use these applications concurrently with Premiere Pro. Likely, many are unaware that these applications can trigger the issue sooner or even cause your OS to crash.
Using a lot of GPU accelerated effects in Premiere Pro can also trigger this issue
If you are using only a normal amount of GPU accelerated effects and working long hours, it can trigger the issue.
If this is the computer you have, and this sounds like your issue, do the following:
    Restart the computer
    Start Premiere Pro
    Choose File > Project Settings
In the General tab under the category Video Rendering and Playback, choose Renderer > Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL). If Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL) is not available, switch the Renderer to Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration Software Only.
    Click OK
A dialog box will appear, which reads “Video Rendering and Playback Settings Changes.” Read the text, and then click the Delete Previews button. Note: any previously rendered previews will have to be rendered once more in the new renderer with a render command in the Sequence menu.
Premiere Pro should now operate without the screen problems.
Let us know if this works for you.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Are the Mac Pro's graphic cards are upgradeable?

    Hi,

I have attached the picture of the message.
    Thanks.

you probably just enabled gl acceleration capablities for the first time and/or after updating your driver. It happened to me and im pretty sure its just a warning thats means nothing until you actually have a new driver to update, so just tick and it will go away.

I have a late 2006 MacBook Pro (MacBook Pro 2,1) and i would like to know whether or not i can upgrade the graphics card? If it is possible what are the restrictions? Thanks.

No. The GPU is soldered onto the logic board and cannot be replaced.
If you need to upgrade the machine, I'm afraid that the only solution is to purchase a new MacBook Pro.

  • MacBook Pro 13" Graphics Card

I've got a MacBook Pro 13" Late 2012 Non-Retina 2.9GHz intel core i7 model. Is there any way for me to install a graphics card in it? Upto 1 GB at least? If not, what is the maximum memory I can install? And which company's graphics card should I buy? I don't have a budget as my father won't buy me a new Macbook Pro, but he doesn't care what the graphics card costs. I know, it's silly, I could easily get the 15 inch retina display model, but I unfortunately bought this one as the Retina Display model was out of stock and I'd have to wait a week for it to arrive. I didn't have the patience, so I bought this one. Any help?

  • Advise for PC Build for Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Affect Effects..

I'm new to Adobe CS6 products and I'm looking to build a pc that would perform well in these applications. Partially,  Photoshop,  Illustrator,  Premiere Pro,  and Affect Effects.   I would rather not to have upgrade any of the coponents for the next 3-4 years.
I would like to keep the budget for the PC itself under $2,500 if possilble.  I would also like to have a very effective system  for the price.
One of the problems I'm running into is the gpu.  I can't decide between the gtx 570 2.5 gb for around $300 new,  the gtx 580 3 gb (arond $500 new),  or the gtx 670/680 4gb.  Does the gtx 680 run great in photoshop and premiere pro?   I noticed it's not offically supported in either at this moment.  And would like to hear more about it's compatiablity or lack there of.
Right now, I'm thinking about a setup like this:
    Intel Core i7-3820
    Asus P9X79 Motherboard
    GPU (between 570 2.5gb, gtx 580 3 gb, or gtx 670/680 4gb)
32 gb of Corsair Vengeance Ram
Samsung 8300 256 gb SSD (for programs and operating system)
x3 Western Digital Caviar Black 1 Tb

aka,  would buying a gtx 680 4gb make sense (to you) for a $2,500 USD build?
Not with that budget. It is too expensive within that budget range and goes at the cost of other much needed components.
With the currrent state of things (without further updates from adobe) would  you run the gtx 680 with premiere pro or would you prefer the gtx 580?
Again, with your budget limitation you are better of going for the GTX 570, that performs almost equally well as the 580 or 680, but saves a lot of money.
With the budget in mind,  would a i7-3930k be a worthy upgrade ove a i7-3820? Would this help performance more than the upgrade from a gtx 570 2.5 gb to a gtx 680 4 gb?
    Both Yes.
