Premiere Pro System Resouces Not beign used while exporting

Hi all,
I have been editing this video and last night I started rendering it. However, it is far from beign fast. The estimated remaining time AME shows is 65h!!!
However, that's not the worst thing. My CPU, RAM, Hard drive and even GPU are not beign used. The measured system usage while exporting this same clip is:
15% CPU
+- 2GB RAM
1MB/S Footage Hard Drive (out of max. 50MB/s)
Sporadical GPU spikes @90%, average 40%.
Project Characteristics:
Full sequence almost 2h long.
2 Layers Maximum.
Raw clip footage: H264 1080p DSLR Footage.
Red Giant Denoiser II (GPU Accelerated) on 50% of the clips.
PPro's included RGB Curves and HSL on 50% of the clips.
Exporting to H264, 1080p 30fps, VBR 1 Pass, 15Mbps (18Mbps max) using Adobe Media Encoder (PPro's "Export" option doesn't even run).
System Specs:
Amd FX-8350 (8x)4.5GHz
16GB DDR3 1866MHz Ram
Nvidia Geforce GTX650 (2GB GDDR5)
Windows 8 x64 OS.
Cache, OS and Adobe CS6 Suite drive: Samsung 840 PRO 128gb (500MB/S R, 480MB/S W)
Footage & Export Drive: Seagate 1TB (don't know exact model)
I know my graphics card isn't the best for this job, but it is not even beign used... My first thought is that there was an HHD bottleneck, as it is not fast at all, but measuring my system usage I have found that is not the soft chain this time. What am I doing wrong?
BTW, I'm using CS6.
Thanks in advance,
Gonzalo Ruiz.

Wow, I never thought that could make such a difference. Will the speed of those four drives have much of an impact given they are all rated over 120MB/s? Or will just having them on sepparate HDDs be enough? What about 4K?
For example, will the difference between a WD Caviar Blue 1TB and a 850 Pro 256GB (or any other good HDD vs a fast SSD for that matter) be noticeable using it as a cache drive? What about in 4k editing?
Will using a dedicated SSD for both cache and previews be slower than two dedicate HDDs? The SSDs I am comparing are 4x faster in R/W speeds than this HDD and a many more times faster in Random IO (IOPS).
This is my upgrade plan:
Samsung 840 PRO 128GB: OS, Programs, Pagefile
Samsung 850 PRO 256GB: Cache, Cache Database, Previews
WD Caviar Blue 1TB: Media and Project Files
Existing Seagate 500GB: Raw Footage, Archive (at the moment installed but full)
External USB3 USB Flashdrive: Export (not going to use it every time)
This export has been an epic fail in terms of length... 60 hrs... Having only used before a ridiculously low spec-ed computer, when I built this one and exported just short clips, I thought it was normal...Guess it isn't, now that I have to edit long videos.
Thanks for all your entries,
-Gonzalo

  • Premiere Pro CS6 does not recognize USB PnP Sound device connected  to iMac OSX even when activated in Audio MIDI setup. The iMac(i-7 processor,16 GB)   is working with this USB device without any problem

Premiere Pro CS6 does not recognize the USB PnP Sound device in order to produce a commentary sound track. The USB device has been activated on the iMac OSX by using the Audio-MIDI-setup and is working correctly with the iMac. When opening > presets >audio hardware I can only select between >standard >out  integrated > digital input integrated >microphone integrated. USB PnP is not indicated at this place.
With the built-in microphone of the iMac I can produce the commentary sound track, but I would prefer a stand alone version for better quality.
Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Annemarie!

I'm using a Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 (which has a microphone on the side). I have several other devices plugged into separate USB slots: a keyboard, a mouse, my iPhone, and a Roland keyboard midi controller.
I've considered that maybe the webcam/mic combo is the culprit. If USB doesn't work at a constant speed, that could very well be causing the issue! The sound begins to lag badly sometimes when it's working properly, so that there's a multisecond delay between speaking and hearing my voice repeated back over the mic which is another sign that something is wrong. I've also caught it making a strange electronic sound during its "hang" time once it stops taking sound input correctly.
Maybe I should try to use line-in and forgo USB altogether then. I think I'd need a preamp and some sort of converter for that since the Mac Mini lacks a powered mic jack. I'm only a newbie musician so I've never set up such a system but it might be a better solution in the long run.
I'll check to see if it hangs before or after my computer enters suspend mode, that's a good suggestion too. Thank you for your help!

  • Premiere Pro CC will not accept MXF DNx hd files

    Hello
I am trying to import Avid MXF DNx HD 36 files into Premiere Pro CC but have been unsuccessful.  I thought I read that Premiere Pro CC could handle these files but have not had any luck.  Are their codecs I need to download?

Don’t worry, as we know DNxHD MXF is a video codec intended to be usable as both an intermediate format suitable for use while editing and as a presentation format. You cannot import a DNxHD MXF into Adobe Premiere Pro 7.0 (CC) The file was exported using the DNxHD MXF OP1a format with a preset that uses the 440 family. If you accidentally meet with the problem, the best solution is to transcode DNxHD MXF to MOV, the format which is proved to be the most compatible one with all the Adobe products, including Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro System Requirements

    Good morning,
For the online Adobe Premiere Pro System Requirements:
The Windows "Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2014) system requirements" are listed as "Microsoft Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (64 bit) or Windows 8 (64 bit)" and the Windows "Adobe Premiere Pro CC system requirements" are listed as "Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1". (Bolded emphasis added.) (Reviewed at System requirements | Adobe Premiere Pro on 12/28/2014.)
Assuming that all Windows requirements are to be "(64 bit)" for both Adobe Premiere Pro CC and CC (2014), then why is "Windows 8.1", that is a requirement for Adobe Premiere Pro CC, excluded from the requirements for Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2014), which is the latest version of Premiere Pro?
My point is:  in a RAID'ed solid-state disk (SSD) structure, some of the workflow for maintaining a work station is different between Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Unless this omission is an editorial inconsistency, not having Windows 8.1 as a system requirement for Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2014) implies that Windows 7 is the better option for supporting Adobe Premiere Pro and for helping to maintain the hardware implementing it.
For the supporting the best SSD RAID workflow for Adobe Premiere Pro, please let me know if, indeed, that not including Windows 8.1 in the system requirements for Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2014) is an oversight.
    Thank you.

    An oversight? Yes probably.
Adobe's "System Requirements" page for Adobe Premiere Pro has been a joke for a long time so far as helping the user is concerned. Check out www.ppbm7.com if you really want to learn the true system requirements to use Adobe's software.
The current Premiere Pro CC (2014) system requirements list includes:
    - Intel Core2 Duo... - wow, really, this is the requirement for 2014! Seems to me this would not support present day media and workflows very well at all.
    - "... or faster hard drive" (no mention whatsoever about SSDs). I have a system with SSDs (no hard drives) and it runs Premiere Pro just fine with no hard drives at all.
    - Internet connection and registration... Yes, it does seem that Adobe keeps the legal and other "fine print" portions of the system requirements page up to date.
Regarding Win 8.1, I've had some issues with installing some legacy software that I've used for years (and which run using Win 7 64-bit), however all the Adobe CC (2014) applications that I've tried seem to work just fine on my system (with Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit).
    Regards,
    Jim

  • Downloading Premiere Pro after buying not available in Desktop APP

I bougt on the 7th of september 2014 an one year membership for premiere pro.
I paid and the bill with my bank acount.
Till today i can`t download premiere pro with the desktop app for CC
All other adobe products are available including photoshop for that i also habe a 1 year membership.
so my question: Why can I not download premiere pro to my desktop?
    thanks for your help!

The interface normally only lists applications for which your system meets the requirements.  Check the system requirements for Premiere Pro and see if the machine comes up short on any of them.

Why is the Nvidia GTX 680 CUDA card supported by Premiere Pro CC, and NOT After Effects CC?

Thanks Todd for all the info.  It is much appreciated and very helpful.  On a different note, could you possibly direct me to the correct forum to fix this bug?  I am suddenly recieving a warning on my System SSD referencing Adobe Exchange.  Here is a screen grab to best explain:

    MacPro 3,1
    All other apps do update.

    HI Steve & Perry,
Have you tried restarting the machine and applying the updates again ? If yes, are you still getting the same error message ? If yes , could you please share a screen shot of the error that you get ?

  • Why won't premiere pro cc will not let me add an adjustment layer

why won't premiere pro cc will not let me add an adjustment layer

Glad that you got the adjustment layer issue worked out. Not quite enough info to troubleshoot the other problems. The following page outlines the kind of info that helps zero in on the cause of such problems: FAQ: What information should I provide when asking a question on this forum?
As to the cache files and rendered previews, you do not need to keep them. Premiere will regenerate them as needed. Because re-conforming the audio and re-rendering the sequence takes time, you probably want to keep those files around for the current project--unless, of course, you have reason to think that the cache or render files are causing problems.
To keep things clean and get the attention of more people, it would probably be best to start a new thread for the other issues.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 "The editing mode used by this project could not be loaded."

    Hello-
I am encountering an issue with my Adobe Premier Pro CS3. I am trying to open up a project that another person has created on a different editing system. When I try to open, it comes up with the error "The editing mode used by this project could not be loaded. The project will be opened in Desktop mode." The next window is a Windows Explorer screen, that wants me to choose a file to open. If I cancel that, it brings up a blank looking project with no timeline or anything?
    A quick comparison of systems:
    Mine:
    HP dc7700s desktop
    Windows XP OS
    Adobe Master Collection CS3
    Hers:
    IBM compatible laptop
    Microsoft Vista
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS3
    Adobe Photoshop CS3
I have googled the error message, but have not found anything to fix this. I have also verified from Help - About that we have the exact same versions of Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 installed.
I need to be able to view this project on either computer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thank you!

    >project will be opened in Desktop mode
I have never used any non-standard files, but from reading here, desktop mode is used when the video files are not standard... in one way or another, but usually pixel dimensions
What is the codec and properties of the files in that project?
Are you sure they are 100% standard?

  • Using Premiere Pro CS6, currently not able to capture video.

Using Premiere Pro CS6 along with Canopus ADVC100 as my capture device through a firewire port, but in the capture window, it only shows black. I've tried all different settings. I've always been able to capture in the past. I had the AOL Tech Gurus check my computer and all ports and everything is working properly. I've even switched out the firewire cable, as well as used a different ADVC100 and different firewire ports, though it still is not working. I did see video for a few seconds without sound, but it went away. When I do power up the ADVC, it immediately starts up Premiere Pro CS6, so my computer is recognizing the ADVC100. I'm wondering if something within my computer is conflicting with the capture.
    - Arlen

Thanks cvid01 for jumping in -
Where would I see the ADVC100 as the Capture Device aside from the drop down window in Device Control where I can choose it to be the Device Control?
It's always worked with the Device Control Device showing "None". And the ADVC100 has always worked in the past with Premiere Pro CS6 for all my Captures.
Also, my Premiere Pro CS6 starts up once I power up the ADVC100. Though I have even closed the Premiere Pro CS6 after it opened up, and restarted the program.
Just wondering if the program itself has some sort of bug now in the capture window? Is there a Premiere Pro CS6 fix that will solve the issue?
Here is what my capture window shows:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC does not open project - just hangs, no error message

I've just finished editing a project in PP CC, saved it, then tried to reopen it and the program shows a blank page, then hangs.  I get no error message.
The project is based off a PP 5.5 timeline.  It updates fine (and in fact I can open and convert the original timeline with no problem).  However, once I close the new version and try to reopen, this symptom occurs.
I have updated my Creative Cloud software and it shows the Premiere Pro is up to date.
My computer is an ASUS laptop running Windows 8.1 Pro
    i5 processor
    8GB RAM
    NVidea Geforce 610M+2GB graphics card
Need help as I have to have this project output and uploaded by 8am tomorrow.

This is a follow up to my original post and follow up.  I've now seen this issue several more times and realize it was not an issue with my USB drive.  It is an issue with the Dynamic Linking in Premiere.  I consider this a MAJOR BUG, so please note what I've found if you have an issue with archiving or opening projects done with previous versions of PP.
The issue I've found is that Premiere seems to lock up trying to find dead media links.  If you've archived a project or moved files from their original position, Premiere CC cannot seem to find them.  The result is not a system hang up, but just a blank screen.  In some cases, after leaving it for a couple hours it found the media and continued.
I've had a similar issue when trying to link 'dead' media with the actual files.  The system goes off into neverland.
The work around I've found is to import the older jobs into a new Premiere CC project.  At that point, replace any dead links (do NOT try and find the media as you'll be lost in hangupville) by importing the media again and replacing the clip in the sequence with the new import from the bin.  Once all your media is 'live', remove any unused media from the project and confirm there are no 'dead' links (you can look at the media icon and notice a ? if they are not dynamically linked properly).  Manually clear any remaining unlinked media.  Save the project.
I have started to use Project Manager to archive all Premiere projects when moving them from one server to another.
This is a total pain in the @ss, and nothing I've seen before Creative Cloud.  I hope that Adobe gets this resolved or I may consider dropping my subscriptions completely.  That is a huge investment, but this type of issue is too much trouble to manage for a small production company.
I welcome any other thoughts, fixes, or comments.

  • Premiere Pro CC 64bit not utilizing GPU

Hello all, first time poster here.
I recently built a new budget PC with photo/video editing in mind.    I'm running an AMD FX8350 with a ASUS GTX780-DC20C-3GD5 video card.   Windows 8.1 pro 64bit.   16GB HyperX Fury DDR3 1866mhz Memory.    Premiere pro seems to be identifying the video card correctly (Confirmed with GPUSniffer.exe), and it's defaulting to Mercury Playback Engine with GPU (CUDA) acceleration correctly.  Problem is whenever I'm using the program, be it editing in the time line, or exporting media, my CPU shoots up to 100% usage, while my GPU sits there barely nudging above 3% usage.    I've uninstalled and deleted the video card drivers, and reinstalled without success.    Also uninstalled and reinstalled Premier Pro CC and Media Encoder, without success.  The video card appears to function correctly when playing any games.     Everything that came with the card said Nvidia.  Could ASUS vs Nvidia drivers be the issue?

If you really want to see what the GPU can do go to our Premiere Pro Benchmark (PPBM) and run the appropriate version.  When you finish the benchmark and run the Statistics script it will show you a window like this:
Notice line #3 which shows you your scores on the MPEG2-DVD timeline with first CPU (in my case 791 seconds) only and second with GPU assistance (57 seconds) and then the gain factor for using the GPU.  This timeline is heavily GPU assisted for benchmarking purposes.  Maybe you are not using any GPU assisted Effects or Features.  When you run the GPU assisted run your GPU Load will show 99% usage like this:

  • Premiere Pro/Prelude CS6 not working with AVCHD from Canon HF G10

I just tried switching from Final Cut Pro 7/X to Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and have not been able to get Premiere Pro or Prelude to work with AVCHD footage from my Canon HF G10.  The system runs Mac OS X 10.7.4 on a 3.4 GHz quad-core iMac with 16GB of RAM and 10Gbit/s Thunderbolt RAID for video storage.   Adobe Updater ran yesterday and installed CSXS infrastructure updates which did not fix the problems.
After importing several short (less than 5 minutes each) 1080p30 clips into Premiere Pro, I can scrub over the first few seconds of a clip but afterwards it stalls or mixes in frames from the beginning of the clip.    Rendering 30 seconds of video does not complete in reasonable time, i.e. takes more than 5 minutes.   I figured I would try ingest the footage with Prelude and am running into the same problems.   Scrubbing does not work, only the first few seconds from a clip are available.     When configuring Prelude to transcode on ingest, I am getting "Import XMP failed" errors.   I already spent several hours trying to figure this out.   In the meantime, I finished the project using Final Cut Pro X :-\
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Niels.

Any chance this gets fixed soon?  I'm shooting with an AF-100, and at this point I'm still using Final Cut to transcode my footage so I can have audio.  I've also noticed the video jumps around even when it does have audio.  Prelude has been extremely problematic for me, and it doesn't have a way to bring in clips that returned errors upon importing, I have to write down the clip numbers and bring them in individually.  I've also tried just dropping the file structure from the card straight to the hard drive.  It's a huge problem, and is keeping me from making the switch fully from FCP 7.
