Premiere Pro Update Problem
Hi there,
after having installed the latest Premiere Pro update some media files are suddenly offline and when I try to relink them I get the message "Method of compression not supported". Can You please help me or tell me how to downgrade to the previous version of Premiere Pro?
Thx
@simon:
I don't think so:

Premiere Pro update problem and AME bug
After renaming the folders and emptying the Media Cache database in the Preferences I thought everything was working, that is until I exported my project to the updated Adobe media encoder. There was no audio playing back from the rendered file and my clips from the Canon 5d were missing which are not acvhd. This is a multi-cam project and the audio that was used was from the acvhd clips. Pretty weird..... So I tried exporting the project from within Premiere to bypass the AME and it worked perfect.
In AME, please go to Preferences>General and disable the Import Sequences Natively option. Then export the sequence from Premiere Pro to AME and see if the problem persists.
If this change resolves the issue, then we'll be interested in getting a copy of the project, if possible, to test with. -
Crash on launch with 4/10/14 Premiere Pro Update?
I just did the Premiere Pro update and now it's crashing every time I try to launch my project file. Is anyone else having this problem?
Edited by: Kevin Monahan
Reason: changed title for searchability purposesHi Patsy,
A few things to try for your crash on launch issue:
Change Preferences to Write: When you upgrade a Mac OS (as opposed to installing the new version fresh), Mac OS can set permissions of folders and files incorrectly. To fix this in the case of Premiere Pro, go to the preferences folder and set the entire preferences folder ( /Library/Preferences/Adobe/Premiere Pro/7.0 ) and all of its contents to be writable, not read-only.
Trash preferences
Make sure the System Preferences > Language & Text is set to English
Have an AMD GPU? Certain applications, like DaVinci Resolve install CUDA drivers, even if you have AMD GPUs. This can cause issues with Premiere Pro. See this blog post.
Sign out from the Creative Cloud application and then Sign in
If you have a NVIDIA GPU, update CUDA drivers in System Preferences > CUDA
These are things that have solved similar issues for other customers. If none of these things work, send me a PM and I'll escalate your issue.
Thanks,

Unable to install Premiere Pro update 7.1
I've been unable to install Premiere Pro update 7.1 on a Mac running Mavericks. I've made three attempts over as many days.
For what it may reveal, here is the install log. Any ideas?
[Please don't post full longs to the user forum.]Try using the "adobe cleaner tool" (you'll find it online) to uninstall Premiere Pro. Reboot. Install Premiere Pro with the creative cloud panel from the apps list. It should work fine

Problems with Premiere Pro update
Hi All,
I updated Premiere Pro CC (as well as a few other apps) as instructed by CC on 01/13 at the end of the work day. Next day all hell broke loose with PP. "Media Pending", failure to load footage that was fine the previous day. Slow operation, etc. I uninstalled and re-installed the program and that *seems* to have fixed the issues in PP, although it is still running a bit slower than normal. However, today, Media Encoder is acting up. An encode that would normally take me 5 minutes tops, is clocking in at over 2 hours.
Has this happened to anyone else? Can anyone give me guidance on what to do to undo this ridiculous update?
Best,
-Adrianne
Message was edited by: Kevin Monahan Reason: title changed to be less confusingJim,
The Premiere Pro version currently running is: 7.0.0 (342) however I uninstalled and re-installed this yesterday so perhaps this is not the version that produced the bugs?
The Media Encoder version is: 7.2.0.43 (64-bit)
The previous update I'd done on the program was their October release so whatever I did yesterday was anything distributed after that one.
Best,
-Adrianne
PS - It is now asking me to update again with the following message: -
Premiere Pro Update 7.2.1 has lost Video Codec
When I'm Exporting a video the option for Video Codec Tap under the Export Settings has been removed with the new Update, on the 19th December 2013. Can anyone help tell me how I can export my video as a 1080p ProRes 422 (HQ).
Thanks
WilliamAplinfor all interested - i solved the problem.
after a few tryouts the system kept spitting out this error: "Adobe QT32server.exe The program can't start becaue MSVCP80.dll is missing"
this got solved by reinstalling the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4.
with the error message gone nothing really changed - premiere pro CC insisted on not reading prores files while still reading dnxhd files from the black magic cinema camera.
i reinstalled the whole CC suite - same situation.
last but ot least i tried to uninstall anything with an apple logo on it - just to find out that you can not remove all of the components entirely without using 3rd party tools.
after that i reinstalled the prores decoder 1.0 along with the latest quicktime version (7.7.5).
voilá. -
I updated yesterday (Dec 9, 2014) to the latest Premiere Pro and there are all kinds of problems.
1. It freezes up and/or crashes multiple times within an hour.
2. Anytime I nest a clip and do warp stabilizer it appears to delete frames giving a ridiculous flicker effect.
I need help ASAP. Need to finish projects.Hi Jorge,

I have been having problems exporting from Premiere Pro with my MacBook Pro with OSX 10.9. My exports have dropped frames, sometimes black, sometimes green, sometimes striped or mosaic patterns... I tried updating, I tried de-installing and re-installing. I was trying to export HD 25p but I also tried to export using sequence settings and that didn't work either. I also tried using Media Encoder. My original footage was HDV. I was initially working from a WD external drive with FW800 to thunderbolt adapter, but I've also tried working from a USB3 external drive and also from my internal drive; it makes no difference. The only "solution" I found to the problem was when I exported using a friend's computer.
Previous to this problem I had been using Premiere Pro CS6 version because that was compatible with the edit suites I had been using at my University. But my project file developed some kind of bug whereby it was expanding virtually exponentially every time it saved. So it became so large (up to 5GB) that the computer crashed whenever it tried to autosave. When I converted the project to a CC project this problem seemed to be overcome, so I continued to work with CC from my lap-top. But then I had the problems when I came to export.i've been told by a friend that it is a render problem, not true dropped frames. the frames come out green, or striped, or mosaic-effect...

Premiere Pro CC problem with CUDA
Hello there, I have problem with my Nvidia GTX 560 Ti (with CUDA cores), didn't work with Adobe Premiere Pro CC, why? Because before "CC" I work on Premiere Pro CS 5,5 and there my CUDA works perfectly, is this problem came from Premiere CC? Please help me?
Try ingesting the files through adobe prelude. Convert .mts-files to DNxHD format. If there is a problem with dolby digital audio license change your camera audio record settings to PCM instead of dolby digital.
I am still getting an error with .MTS-files including dolby digital encoded audio : "This istallation does not have a license to decode Dolby Digital audio", but PCM audio works.
I have not found a sollution for that from other adobe forums:
http://forums.adobe.com/message/5811748#5811748
neither the latest update made any difference. -
I am transferring a project from a PC to a Mac. When I try to open the project file on my mac, it says that the project file was created in a newer version of premiere pro. I tried updating through the adobe application manager, downloading a patch online and even reinstalling but none of the methods worked. It kept telling me I was on the latest version. Has anyone got a solution?
Well... In this case, i would suggest you to use the Cleaner tool to uninstall all Adobe apps and re-install them back.

Adobe Premiere Pro Import Problem
Let me get one idea out of the way.
NO. IT'S NOT THE DAMN CODEC, AND IT'S NOT A PROBLEM WITH EMPTY WRAPPERS.
Every time I try to import a fully functioning video (any format), Premiere Pro continues to import it as an audio file. Only when I import the clip as a sequence does it fully apply both video and audio.
No matter what version I revert to, it does the same thing. Even worse, sometimes it's the other way around! Sometimes, the picture imports but not the audio!
And this has been going for a month.
Even better: when I import the footage to After Effects or Media Encoder, it works perfectly. Full audio and solid visuals all around. I don't know what is happening.
I'm switching to Sony Vegas until further notice.
I use DVDVideoSoft to download and convert my footage (this affects nothing, however. I've tried importing a movie [The Woman] and it's done the same thing).
My computer setup is as follows:

This is a DirectX formatted movie? I don't believe that is on the list of supported formats for Premiere Pro. Interesting you were able to import it into other applications though. I wonder if the movie has a variable frame rate. I also wonder if you tried to import it via the Media Browser. Please try that instead of File > Import and retry.
Thanks,

Premiere Pro CS4 - Problem with the monitor program.
Hi. I'm not able solving problems with the monitor using PremiereProCS4. When I drag a photo (also only one photo) in the timeline and play it in the monitor program, vision in the monitor program doesn't run:black monitor or a little part of the photo appear... sometimes distort colours. Asus P5QPRO, Intel 9550 and Sparkle Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ 1024 DDR3; last gpu driver and directX are installed. Different configuration of stratch disks were tested. Where am I wrong?
Dear Bill,
thanks for your answer and your article. I tried with your NTSC 4:3 720x480 PAR 0.9 and, "magically", no more problem!!! I used the script pocedure in Photoshop CS4 to resize my images. Now, before starting my workflow and hoping not to overuse your patience, I would like to indicate you my equipment and my target: I use a Canon Eos 7D (generally for still images, 90% are vertical, and just some videos) and I use Premiere Pro CS4 to burn a dvd (normal, 4.7 Gb or double side, more than 8 Gb) with a 16.9 lcd tv (I'm Italian); my camera save as .jpg and .raw (but why use heavy .raw files if I've to redute to 720x480?!??).
So, according to your "everyone wants the highest quality that they can obtain when doing theri videos..." and "your video project may vary, so you will need to plug in the dimensions for YOUR video project in that case", I've a question: which is the best for me?
And then:
1 - Premiere Pro CS4 havn't a batch or a script procedure for still image like PS (only for videos)!?!
2 - Premiere does'nt allow you to import images like 4.181 Kb (a too large dimension file error appears)!
3 - In the timeline of Premiere, after you dragged images, you can select them and right click to perform "resize to frame size": it seems to run good without problem, but what appen to the photo? Which is it's pixel?
4 - In the general preferences of Premiere you can to optimize rendering for "memory" or not: which is the best for you?
5 - I attached file with a screen of something strange in Premiere: dragging an image (the first of the project) in the timeline, the timeline appears distort (you can see the part in the yellow square): then, when I render the project and play in the monitor program, it becames normal.
Thanks! -
Premiere Pro CC Problem With PNG MOV Quicktime Format
A While Back, i posted a problem with Premiere Pro CC that it would not open MOV with a PNG Type Format. the Error was always "There is No video or Audio Stream".
Frustrated, i reverted back to Premiere Pro CS6 in which the files opened fine. i had Forgotten an effect i used in PRO CC so went pack in and surprisingly the files opened. I finished my Project and moved on until Last night, when editing, the same thing happened in Premiere Pro CC, it wouldnt impoort the PNG Format MOV files i have for traqnsitions (Rampant Media Color transistions) Curious, i again opened PPRO CS6, and low and Behold, when i re-opened PPRO CC, the files were read properly.
So there appears to be some form of Bug in PPRO CC on a windows 7 64 bit Ultimate? i can reproduce this over and over againj. i am just throwing this out there incase this happens to anyone else. hope this helps, i hope Adobe Premiere Pro CC Engineers see this and can fix this bug. thanks, have a happy too da looo, i shall blow you a fanfare! Please submit a bug report, complete with a sample file, or at least attach a sample clip here.
