Premiere Sequencing Troubleshoot

Hello,
I am trying to use CS5 Premiere on a Mac (Snow Leopard version). I've used Premiere before on this computer with no problem, but I'm working on a project now, and for some reason, the sequencing area will not let me playback and view the roughcut area. It will begin to play the first second or two, and then automatically pause and go back to the beginning. I've tried to open several new projects, but it does this with everyone I start. I never changed the orignal settings either. I can export the movie and view it, but I can't rough view it to see if the transitions work, the color's right, etc. I would greatly appriciate anyone's suggestions on what's happening. I have a huge project I'm working on, and unfortunately, we weren't instructed on how to use the program or troubleshoot. (It's a learn as you go class project.) Thanks in advance for any advice!

Make sure you don't have a sequence out point set at the loop point. If you need an out point there, then make sure the loop playback button isn't engaged. Or do both.

Adobe Media Encoder timecode doesn't match Premiere sequence

Hi, I'm having an issue when exporting through Adobe Media Encoder. My source sequence is 23.976 fps; I've set the Display Format in AME to 24 fps (options are 24, 25 and 30) and the export setting to 23.976 but the time codes don't match; AME seems to be adding frames. Over the course of a 90 minute export AME is adding about 6 seconds; the Premiere sequence is 01:33:52:13 while the AME export settings show 01:33:58:04.
I'm exporting this in chunks so I'm concerned that when I string them all together with the audio there will be a sync problem.
Version: AME CS6 6.0.2.81 64bit
Using with Premiere CS6; have entire suite installed
Most recent update installed
Mac OS X 10.7.3
Creative Cloud: No.
Working with a mix of RED 5k, 4.5k and 4k footage; all shot 23.976
No error messages
Is the problem only occurring with a specific output format or encoding preset? If so, which one? - same on all outputs; exporting to prores 422 1920x1080 23.976
Running Premiere at same time
Mac Pro, 2 x 2.4 GHz 6-core intel xeon, 64 gb ram, solid state boot drive, red rocket, black magic, decklink hd extreme 3d+
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration in Premiere Pro? - yes by default? no cuda / opencl
An unrelated problem I've also been having is when I try to export the full sequence, or even half, the export will freeze around 40%. No error message, just stops.

How are you checking the exports?

What is the best way to setup premiere sequence for export when mixing 24fps and 23.976fps for final

What is the best way to setup a premiere sequence for export when mixing 24fps (CG) and 23.976fps (live action) for final output at 23.976 (vimeo and such).
Right now my sequence is at 24fps, and when I export to 23.976, my dialogues seem to shift.
Should I set my sequence at 23.976fps instead of 24fps?

That makes it easy. Remove the CGs from the project. Go to Edit>Preferences>Media... and set the Indeterminate Media Timebase to 23.976. Then when you import the image sequence, PP will assign it the correct frame rate.
Edit in a 23.976 sequence.

Best way to convert my Premiere sequence, to AE (other than using prproj obviously)

I made a thread earlier, but didn't find a solution. I tried to link some Premiere sequences with AE, with blank screens and errors as a result. (probably some components in the file I've gotten rid of, or a bug). I'll pay attention to it in the future.
I can link the programs together if I convert my prproj to another format. Is there a way I can do this without losing quality? (Preferably without creating a massive file either.) Will I lose quality if I use a render file for ex?

My Premiere sequence(s) doesn't let me link up with AE. Empty screens, on both sides as a result of using "dynamic link". (Importing project works, but I need live edit (Premiere screen directly affected by what I do with the files in AE)
I've worked around both programs and looked up online for answers with no real results. Now I'm trying to work around the system, to find a solution. Gathering the sequences and converting them into another file, will probably make AE accept the files live. I'm looking for the best way to do this.

Export a Premiere Sequence in Pieces

I have a Premiere sequence that is several short scenes. They fade out and in between them and have titles on each scene. I want to export and compress them as separate standalone videos for YouTube. Is there a way I can do this without individually exporting them by changing the in and out points on the timeline, or putting the scenes into separate sequences. What is the best way to handle this in the most efficient manner? Could bookmarks help?

I believe that what you want is the WAB (Work Area Bar), which will allow one to Export segments of the Timeline to discrete video files. For more info on the WAB, see this article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5170142#5170142 Just be sure to select Work Area, when you go to Export.

Dynamic Linking a Premiere Sequence in SB

Using CS4 Production Suite.
I open Soundbooth, start a new multitrack file, then go to dynamic link>import premiere sequence Then, with the Premiere Project open in another window, I select the file, then the sequence, then ok, and SB looks like it tries to do something, but inevitably every time I get a "Not Responding" as it lingers there forever. Sometimes I get a % import bar, and it never moves from 0% before failing. I never get an error message, it just sits there and doesn't move for 20 minutes, before I shut it down. The project I'm importing is pretty long, and it consists of 6 audio tracks, so I thought maybe it's too big. So I tried a 40 second sequence with one audio track, and still it crashes.
So... what's up with that? I was kind of hoping to be able to master the audio for this film using SB, since I am using Premiere and AE, and bought this stuff thinking it all worked great together. Which it probably does, and I'm doing something wrong.
Someone help me please.

AME CS6 won't load Premiere sequence

Hello,
I recently started having issues with Media Encoder. I can export a sequence out of Premiere, one sequence at a time. However, when I click "Queue" to load the sequence into ME, then the message appears "Preparing data for export...", then Media Encoder opens, but there is nothing in the Queue. I have tried trashing the preferences in both Premiere and Media Encoder (ME-by holding Option when opening), and that hasn't fixed the problem.
Been running CS6 for about 2 years now and have never had this sort of problem, up until about 1 month ago. So far it hasn't been a huge issue, other than when I need to export multiple sequences out.
My system runs Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. Adobe Suite CS6
Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Jim, Thanks for the quick reply. The problem is indeed a missing codec, viz. intra100. There is a related problem that Adobe apparently has not solved: A/c to a technician. CS5 overwrites CS6 files and vice-versa (in creative cloud anyway). So, I am constantly having to re-activate CS6 because of using CS5 for things like markers.
The tech said they would be working on it (two or three months ago). Have you heard anything on this issue?
I am wondering if there is any simple way just to copy this particular coded for the moment.

After Effects scrambles image of dynamic link imported premiere sequence

I have an Late 2013 MAC PRO Graphics AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB with Maverick 10.9.3 and CC. In the 2 last CC updates, imported sequences from Premiere Pro with dynamic link get scrambled after a while, not on every frame and not in a specific routine. After clearing the cache, it disappears. Sometimes it appears on some frames in a final render too. When I don't restart the MAC completely AE will block completely after while. Is this a known problem of CC and is there a solution ? Or is it possible that i.e. i1 profiler software creates this problem.

AE crashing when trying to import Premiere sequence.

I am having a problem importing a Premiere Pro sequence in After Effects (I am using CS5.5 with the latest upgrades on a Windows 7 PC).
Basically when i try to import, i can choose my Premiere file with no problems, and i get to the menu where it asks which sequences i want to import.
No matter which sequences i choose (All, Individual, with or without sound), once i click on OK, the button freezes and a few seconds later the screen whitenes and it says After Effects is not responding and i get a box come up which tells me this and asks me if i want to shut AE down.
Does anyone know what casues this?

The footage is DSLR 1080p (PAL). As for hardware, here is my PC Spec :-

The mercury engine is in advanced mode as i have deleted the txt file so that the acceleration will work with this card.

Multi mask layers working with linked premiere sequence

How do I make a new grade layer when my sequence is linked to premiere project. I want to make two masks. I am new to speedgrade. I can't go to the timeline tab or press the color buttons, forth and fifth button above timeline, they are grayed out.

There's been numerous discussions about adding a grading-layer option back into the Direct Link Sg workflow. So it's been talked about ... but not implemented yet. As someone who's always willin' to help out by submitting feature requests, I urge you to go ahead and file wishform requests for anything your heart desires! They do "listen" to these ... although they can't always for one reason or another implement things we ask for or at least, as fast as we want them.
Amazingly, they don't get irritated with those of us who file post after post. I went down to NAB this March, and was standing watching a Speedgrade staffer demo the up & coming (& now released) CC2014 version, with the new scopes. I'd put in I don't know how many requests ... some general, some very specific ... on this, and had jumped into quite a number of forum discussions on the subject. Especially if a staffer was involved. Wasn't sure how my reception would work out, you know?
However, the staffer involved was demo'ing away, and in a pause while showing the to-be-released nifty scopes, I did mention that wow, those were nice ... he turned and looked at me, then my name tag (which had my unused first name rather than my used middle name on account of NAB officialdom) ... started to look back to his demo-ee, and then turned with a big smile & said "You must be Neil!" and launched into a discussion of my numerous posts ... happily.
I can assure you, he'd read every flippin' one of my ahem ... multiple ... requests, and was still happy to see me. I was quite charmed, actually ... so wish away!

Importing Premiere Sequence - only partial

From Premiere Pro, I selected an 11 minute sequence - which contains about 30 clips - and then File/Send to Adobe Speedgrade
The sequence only partially came over. It stops at 3 minutes 25 seconds or so and in the middle of a clip. Any ideas?
I am running Win7, i7 processor with 16GB.
Lots of disk space.

You most probably have the work area bar not covering your whole sequence in Premiere Pro.

Premiere Sequences Ghosting

I just updated Premiere CC to 8.0.0. When I change between sequences and begin scrubbing with the cursor, the audio from the previously viewed sequence plays. However, when I playback in real time, the correct audio plays.
For example, I've created a selects sequence with several takes. I take a look at them then switch over to my actual cut. When I scrub through my actual cut, I hear the audio from my selects sequence. Regular playback is fine, though.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround? Any help is greatly appreciated.
We are running on a server and here are my specs:
OSX 10.9.3
2x2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
34 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA Quadro 4000 2048 MB

Check, I just tried clearing out the Media Cache Databases from both Premiere and AE--still no go. And to clarify, I think the clips and cuts did import properly, but none of the cuts get farther than about nine seconds into the one source video (which, if looked at by anyone, looks like the cuts didn't import). In other words, when clip 1 (a guy walking) ends and clip 2 starts (a car driving), you see the guy walking AGAIN instead of seeing the car. By the time the imported sequence from Premiere is finished, the same scene of the guy has been played about 50 times.
Even odder, all the effects I applied to the sequence in Premiere are visible in AE (i.e., at time 5:00:02 I see a Time Echo effect on the same footage of the guy walking, whereas in Premiere at time 5:00:02 I see a Time Echo effect on a train rolling).
I hope these examples make more sense than me explaining it--I've almost confused myself with these descriptions!

From AE composition to the original clips in a Premiere sequence?

I transformed some clips from a sequence in Premiere CC to an AE CC composition, then Premiere auto-saved and reset, so History is erased and no option for Undo, and now I can't go back to those original clips in the sequence. How can I do it????

There's no automatic way to do this. In the PP sequence, you will have to replace the linked comp with the original clips manually.
This is an excellent idea for a feature request, though. The ability to 'Undo' a linked comp (or an audio file rendered for Audition) and restore the original clips to the sequence should be available at all times, even after closing a project, without losing any other work.

AE crash after importing premiere sequence with trimmed r3ds. (Bug report)

(all tested in premiere and AE cs6, up to date from creative cloud) Hello, I have RED footage raw as r3ds, that I have edited in premiere. If I try to send that to after effects in premiere, or if I try to import the sequence directly through AE, The machine continually locks up over and over again until I close out the application. I have figured out potentially what is wrong and I have figured out an annoying work around.
I believe what the problem is, is that after effects is having a hard time reading the renamed and trimmed r3d clip. Point being, if I hit caps lock disabling preview, I can right click on the RED footage that was imported from premiere, and reveal in explorer (or finder for Mac, and yes, I have tested this on both OS) Then drag the original footage back into after effects, and then alt drag and replace the footage that is trimmed in the AE sequence, and lastly delete the premiere versions of the RED clips, then I can use it just fine. No more lagging, all is well.
This is a huge pain in the butt...Can this bug PLEASE be looked into for AE CC or Premiere CC whichever is causing the problem. It is very useful to cut in premiere and keylight/ special effects in AE. But this workaround is quite a time saver.
Can anyone else confirm this issue? I hgave confirmed it on a mac and a PC of cs6.
And if anyone has an easier workaround, that would also be appreciated, although, this was the quickest work around I could come up with.

I have found another fix, which is much easier! But yes this is still broken and must be fixed. After you import the RED footage from the preiere file, with caps lock on, right click on the red footage and go to interpret footage> Main. At the bottome of the window that pops up, click more options, which should bring up the RED R3D Source settings. This is blank, with no video attatched...all you do is click reload from RMD, and the problem is solved.
This is still a massive pain, Can anyone from adobe confirm this problem, and confirm this work around?
