PremierePro CS4 Importer Process Server Error

Hi all,
I get this error message each time I start Adobe Premiere Pro CS4:
"Communication error between PremierePro and "Importer Process Server". Try to restart your system."
I start to get this error when I updated Windows Xp Pro x86 from the Service Pack 2 to SP3. With the previous version Premiere worked just fine. I tried to restart the system but the error is always there. Googling around I read that maybe I need to reinstall only Premiere, but I work in a private TV and I don't have much time to uninstall/reinstall the software. I added Premiere and all the others Master Collection softwares' to the Windows Firewall/Avast exceptions, without any results. I know that CS4 works very well with Vista and 7 (I use it on my home PC with Windows Vista x64), but here I can't change OS or upgrade to the CS5 (because it's x64).
Anyone know how can I solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

you might have a "restore" point saved ..( system restore ) that is a date before you installed the sp3 upgrade. See if you can use that and get it back to working OK
otherwise, maybe try to uninstall all cs4 stuff, use the clean tools as described in the forums, defrag your program Hard drive, and reinstall cs4 stuff...

    Hi, Jeff:
My system is XP; before the premiere worked well.
More detail story: Premiere could not open 3 days ago, no fix, some one sent me a crack software, I used it, no luck. Another nice guy told that is for non-legal Premiere, surely it won't work.
I tried to remove Premirere; difficult; some one suggested me to use Adobe CS4 cleaner from Adobe. Then it was removed. I re-install Premiere; During the process, abnomal thing I remember was: I can't input product S/N, so I had to use 30-day trial.
During the installation, it was stopped by Windows Installer issue, I restarted Windows Installer, then the process continued...
I have two log files, don't know how to attach into this message. But, can't find any problem therein.
Heverever, when I tried to open newly installed Premiere, error message says: ---can't open, reason is exactly same with very beginning: Can't communicate with Inporter Process Server....

  • Importer Process Server.exe error

I'm using the CS4 version offered in Premier Pro CS5 when your computer isn't capable of handling 64 bit software. I cannot change to Windows Vista or Windows 7 because my computer is part of a network at my office and we are still using Window XP (even though my computer is new and could easily handle 64 bit software).
I'm having a problem with an Importer Process Server.exe error. When I try to import audio clips that I've created in Soundbooth (they are set up as .wav files), everything seems to go fine at first. However, about the time I am trying to import the 3rd clip (and I have 22 I need to import into the video), I get the Importer Process Server.exe error and the system completely shuts down. This is really frustrating, because this is the last step before I will be finished with the video.
I can't seem to find anything in the Help menu that fits my problem.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

OK, thanks. I already have full admin rights, so that wasn't the problem.
As it turns out, it seems that the software was simply taking a long time to finish loading all of the clips even though a popup message stated that is was finished downloading (importing) the audio clips. After trying several times to reboot the software and having the same problem, I reloaded one last time and was interrupted and had to walk away for about 10 minutes for a quick meeting. When I came back, everything worked fine. The only thing I can figure out is that behind the scenes, the system was still loading the clips even after it had told me it was finished. At some point during the 10 minutes I was away, it apparently finished the download of all clips. Time was the only difference between the unsuccessful attempts and success.
I'm now in the process of converting the video to a flash format. If all goes well with that, my first video project will actually be completed.
Thanks again for all of your help and suggestions.
This software is great as long as you can figure out the little quirks it seems to have, and it's nice to have some people out there that you can go to for answers.

  • Import Process Server

    Hello,
I'm capturing Beta Cam tapes via Black Magic, it creates an AVI file, to a GLYPH hard drive; I'm working off the Glyph.  After a minute of plyaback Adobe Premiere CS4 crashes and explains that there is an Import Process Server crash.  This only happens with the AVI's imported via the deck; I have a lot of SxS shot footage, BPAV files, and they work just fine.
    Many Thanks,
    Tim S.

    Bill,
The Glyph is connected via USB 2.0, however it's connected to my PC, to act as a partition, and not connected to my BetaCam deck.  (Basically I was capturing via Black Magic and saving the AVI to the Glyph; it didn't seem to like that for whatever reason).
    Thanks,
    Tim S.

  • Import Process Server has encountered a problem and needs to close

    Hello,
Loaded an AVI-from the desktop, as that is where my project file and scratch disk go, about 7.5 GB's, and when I scroll through it or try to render, I get this little message:Import Process Server has encountered a problem and needs to close
    Windows XP Pro/ 64 Edition
    Dell Precision T7500
    Intell(R)Xeon(R) CPU
    E5520 @ 2.27 GHz
2.26 GHz, 12.0 GB of RAM
    Thanks so much in advance,
    Tim S.

    Jim,
Thanks for all your help.  Sure enough, an MOV file works just fine and I may have tracked down the problem: the video, I'm sure caused from the source tape, lags towards the end-it seemed like every time I scrolled towards the end of the AVI it would crash.  Still seems mighty peculiar that it would crash the system each time.
    Thanks,
    Tim S.

  • Probleme mit Mac/ PremierePro CS4 import vom Camcorder

    Hallo,
ich möchte von meiner Sony-Kamera importieren.
    Vielen Dank schon mal!

Ähm: "Probleme mit Mac/ PremierePro CS4"??? Was willst du mit AVI?
Was für Aufnahmen?

  • Importer Process Server

This is so frustrating. I have done a search for this but none of the posts were helpful as per this:
The issue is that there is not even an event log for this crash. Yes I have restarted the computer to no avail.
The only solution I have found to to re-install the software, but it will only work until I import files, and this will happen the next time I open the app. I can even open the original files where I imported files before, work on it, save it, export it. I can open as many previously created files that I want, as long as I do not import any files. Don't matter where I import them from, could be a DVD, my hard drive or my camera. This is incredibly frustrating.
Anyways, I have PPCS4 (all updates), Vista Ultimate (all updates), Asus P5K Mobo, 8Gb RAM, 5 Hard Drives, Adobe Master Collection CS4 (all updates). All my other applications work fine, have tons of free space, no crap on the system.

    Hi,
Issue could be that the ID 1143785.1;ID 1361594.1 are not straightly compatible with ODC 10.1351
The issue is resolved after applying the Patch  ID 15656504, which restores the files of ODC 10.1351 which were overwritten by the applied patches.
    Happy Ending.

The sample shows siteid (all lower case)

    Hi,
I think you are accessing the portal via one of the dialog instance and not using the Central instance. So you are not getting the error displayed in iview. If you want to activate navigate to system administration-system configuration-services and in portal runtime central configuration open the object and in portal .runtime .print cause .exception make it to true and restart the service. This may be for print but some where here in the services you can activate that.
For productive environment detailed exception is not recommended.Administrator can see the error log in
    log files.
    Thanks and regards,

Hi Andrew. In order for us diagnose this issue, you'll need to capture some network traces using a tool such as Fiddler and share them by sending a Frown.
To capture a trace using Fiddler, start Fiddler, enable the Tools > Fiddler Options > HTTPS > Decrypt HTTPS traffic option, start the capture, reproduce your issue, then stop and save the capture. You can find more information here.
Once you've done that, please send a Frown through the Power Query ribbon and attach the traces.
    Thanks,
    Ehren
