  • Adobe After Effects or Premire Pro?

I'm looking to do a little bit of video editing / creation, and I'm not sure which to go for. I come from a mostly musical background, but as I do some film scoring and such I'd like something more sophisticated than iMovie or Quicktime to cut together video footage on my Mac.
To elaborate, here are features I would specifically be looking for:
Project organization in a similar way that DAWs like REAPER or Digital Performer do for Audio (e.g. sequences, timelines, etc.)
The ability to tile multiple videos into one (this is one of the features I can't find in other software I have on-hand, like iMovie)
Optimally, something that can do video-capture as well as editing already-existing footage - from a Capture Device or an iSight camera
Nice transitions, filters, titles and other post-processing effects would be nice
    Quick rendering and preview functionality
An intuitive learning-curve, for someone fluent in DAWs, Photoshop, iMovie, and advanced computer / programming knowledge
What program would be better for this kind of thing?  Or is there some other, Non-Adobe Mac Application you would recommend that covers the above?
Thanks in advance - any advice is much appreciated!
P.S.  I've posted similar threads in the Creative Suite and Premire Pro forums, as I'm not sure where is best to ask this...

What you describe are more or less classical editing tasks (multi-cam, infinite audio tracks, realtime audio etc.), most of which AE cannot provide. therefore Premiere Pro seems like your tool. The only other viable option for Mac is naturally Final Cut Pro from Apple themselves. It really depends what you are looking for, what your budget is and what you need. Personally I'm always thinking of "suites" and then things like outputting to BluRay or specific web formats become relevant, which Apple at this point cannot offer. If you get my meaning: If you can't distribute it, the nicest video is of limited or no use. And of course with a suite you also get Photoshop and otehr programs that might be useful one way or the other. this is not to say that Apple's tools are bad, but their scope really doesn't extend much beyond doing cutting, adding a few effects and putting it on DVD. For most otehr things you'd still need other tools in addition. Well, whatever. At least for Adobe's stuff, there's always the chance torun the trials and make up your own mind....

  • Premire Pro CC 2014 and Media Encoder Crash During Launch

Premire Pro and Media Encoder crash during startup and are unusable. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate and already tried reinstalling Adobe Creative Cloud from scratch and it's still happening. I also tried following Adobes KB articles directions to rename the Adobe folder in my documents and appdata to no avail. When I try to launch either application, I get a generic windows crash message "Adobe Premire Pro CC 2014.0 has stopped working" and when I click problem details, it lists this:
    Problem signature:
      Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

I am having a similar problem.
Premiere Pro CC 2014 suddenly decided to crash every time I export to either Adobe Media Encoder or within Premiere itself.
The encode will usually go for 5-10 minutes before the programs either spits out a "serious error has occurred" window, or it just sits there frozen until I force quit.
I did find a work-around for the moment. If I open AME and FILE > OPEN, select my project and then the sequence I want, AND put it in Software render mode, it will work.
My timeline is 2K, 58 minutes in 23.976
Only effects applied are Lumetri LUTs - no third party.
I've exported as recently as a week ago without issue.
Running OSX 9.5 on an X99 board
    3.75 GHz 8-core
    64GB 2400 MHz RAM
    EVGA Titan Black 6GB
Because I can get my renders out, I am not too concerned. Either there is something wonky with my timeline that screws with any graphics enabled rendering, or there is a bug that is have the same effect. I will try rendering on another of my edit bays that utilizes a GTX 580 that I KNOW works. The Titan is pretty new to my workflow.
Thanks Adobe, for checking this out.

  • Premire Pro CS6 crashes every time I multitask away from it

Just like the topic says, every time I swtich to another application besides Premire Pro CS6, the application freezes/crashes. I get the following error message:
Adobe Premire Pro CS6 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is availible.
    Windows 8 machine w/ a Matrox MX02 connected.

my machine is a 6 core amd phenom ii clocked at 2.8ghz w/ 4gb of ram and an ssd main drive. sure i could spring for more ram but overall the system is quite performant.
i know that video capture and editing is higher bandwith than audio work but in this case the system is under no load. fresh project, one audio clip on the timeline. multi-task away from PPCS6 and the program hangs. my cpu, ram and disk ussage are non-existant at that point, don't think i need a faster pc.
this is most definitely a bug, somewhere between PPCS6 and the Komplete Audio 6 interface. i've got the latest drivers, control panel, and firmware for the audio interface and the latest PPCS6 from CC. submitted a bug to the black box of https://www.adobe.com/go/wish/ and with the hardware manufacturer.
for now my work around is connecting the Matrox MX02 audio output to line inputs 1/2 on the Komplete Audio 6 and use the interface's direct monitoring feature to listen without any latency. jury rigged solution =[ but it works until i hear anything back from the true creators.

  • Constantly get "unhandled win32 exception occurred in Adobe Premire Pro.exe [1048]"  in Premier Pro CC v8.1 Caravan

I originally downloaded the trial version for evaluation two days ago and everything was working fine.  As of yesterday the program is crashing constantly (every 5 - 10 minutes) when I am editing videos with MP3 sound and mpg video files.  It crashes while I am trying to edit and insert Title text in the video sequence containing the song lyrics.
This makes this program unusable for my purposes unless I can find a solution for this problem.  I had planned to buy it and PS CC 2014 as well until this started.
I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with Service Pack 1 on a Dell Vostro 3560 with 8GB memory.

Thank-you for your response.  I will review it ASAP.

    Thanks for chiming in.
Before today I was unaware of the issue as it had not presented itself as an issue to me.
I tried (because you suggested it) dragging a sequence into a pre-opened AME window. All that happend was the sequence window detached itself from the main Premier window.
After restoring the window - I went to the now opened AME and used File>Add Premier Pro Sequence and it all ran smooth as silk...
Thanks for the tip... Even though I couldn't identify the "drag" route I got the import sequence nailed.
I still look forward to this being resolved as the original flavour is the one I like best.
    Thanks

  • Multicam won't enable premire pro cc

ok, so last year after years of operation adobe cs5.5 worked great. then adobe just one day stopped working. I contacted online support like I am doing now and was told I had to upgrade my system and my software.  so I spent thousands on new system (which other than a newer operating system was basically the same specs I am running now)  and have been paying the full monthly subscription. Yet Adobe premeire pro cc still will no longer edit multicam footage.  I have watched the videos and tutorials and even though I follow them exactly like they are shown. I still can no longer edit video. This has put my small media company out of business and I began turning clients away and have recently had to find a day job working for some one else after years of being a self employed wedding and music video producer as a direct  result of this software not doing it's job like it once did.
Despite my many efforts I have yet to get any direct contact from adobe in this matter,  If adobe does not rectify this situation I am going to be forced to take more drastic tactics.
    I'm running :
    Adobe cc
    windows 8.1
    intel i-7 4790 cpu @3.60
    24 gb ddr3 memory
    nividia gforce gt-640
    Nikon d5200
    panasonic hmc-150
here's my list of issues that have never been fixed :
    1. importing files as small as 30 seconds long takes hours, software freezes
    2. if I can get the files to import I select them ... then right click ...  create multicam sequence
    3. a) cc not responding
        b) error can not sync files do not match
the frustrating part is that everything worked great then one day boom.... no work (even after a new system and upgrade to cc)

Did you buy the perpetual license version of CS6... with a serial number... or did you install the subscription version of CS6?
If you have a serial number, you may need to UN-install, run the cleaner, and RE-install with your serial number

  • Library, title templates.....not load on premire pro CC ???

Hello I install Library, title templates, template projects missing on  premiere pro CC but it will not load? how?

In every version of Premiere, I've noticed there is that button for Templates, but it's empty.  It never concerned me enough to ask this question.  I just shrugged my shoulders and moved on.  That may not be helpful, but perhaps it will give your post a bump.
P.S.  Where do you even get the option to install Library templates in CC?  I recall CS4 and CS5 had many options on install, but since moving to the Cloud with CS6 a year ago, it seems every program is pretty much option-less.

  • Adobe Premire Pro CC Wont open

  • Premire pro quit unexpectedly - where do I find my saved renditions of the time line

Premiere pro quit unexpectedly - where do I find my saved renditions of the time line - thx

there is an auto-save, which can be set to save in my documents, along with the project files, or a custom location. if you need to search for them, they use the same name as your project file, but with -1, -2, -3, -4 etc at the end, for each revision. so if needed, you can do a search for your project file on your hdd till it finds the auto-saves.

  • Transitions & Effects in Premire Pro CS5 -

    hi,
i'm a new entry and so i have little experience. I have just installed Premiere Pro CS5 for Mac and in the panel Effects i find very little items. Is possible to find more items to download ?? and in detail who can help me to do an zoom effect on a clip ???
    Thank a lot

Your English is just fine for me.
The difference between a program, like PrE, and PrPro, is that Adobe makes the assumption that the consumer market (for PrE), will want things quickly done, so they provide a "Big Button" solution. They assume that the users of PrPro will want total power and control, so things are done more by hand, but the benefit is that all aspects of the Effect/Transition can be controlled. Now, one can create custom Presets for some common actions, and then quickly apply those, over and over.
Don't worry that the concept of Keyframing seems a bit daunting at first - it is. However, with a bit of practice, and once the concept has been learned, it will be very easy, and seem like second-nature. That is how I feel about those Presets in PrE. I want the control, so ignore them. When people ask about them in the PrE forum, I have to open up that program, and examine them, because I do not use them often enough to really know what they can, and cannot do.
Once you get used to it, you will soon come to love it, and never use a PrE-like Preset again. Trust me on this. When one tastes the nectar of all that power and control, they will not reach for a Big-Button solution again - they will become intoxicated by that power.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premire Pro CC graphics card problem - still...

Hi there. I have a Mac Pro late 2009 / OSX 10.9.4 with brand new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB installed. I upgraded from a Radeon ATI yesterday so I could run Premiere Pro CC but it still gives me this message - Adobe premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again. Is there something I am missing seeing I have a new video display driver that should run CC?

    Hi Berno64,
Please check the below forum link and try the suggestion.
Premiere cc 2014 crash with message "Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again."
Also, check if you have any CUDA preference pane in System Preferences. If not, please update to latest CUDA driver as well and then restart the machine.
